Church Inn in Cardiff

(We didn’t order food) Come here with my boyfriend for the Karaoke we’ve come here every so often for that. We record ourselves every time to show to ourselves and family in the morning after when we’re sober. A patron became rather aggressive towards us for the filming despite our previous time there was no complaints, it was dealt with rather quickly the staff were helpful and understanding about this which was much appreciated as the night ended he came up to to us in the beer garden whilst we were smoking a cigarette and seemingly had put all the issues behind him and we started talking friendly as strangers do exchanged our jobs and how our days went etc… to which he turned sour towards me because of my job and threatened “to find me” even if it was drunken words it’s still a threat that he wanted to attack to me. To which my partner became defensive towards the man. And where we were yelled at by a member of staff who said that “we were part of an agenda” what ever that means? the guy who hurled abuse was let go Scot-Free due to him being drunk, but the disrespect we received was awful and I wouldn’t recommend coming here at all. You get threatened by customers, but if they’re too drunk to be held accountable it’s your fault? Awful service

Went for our granddaughters birthday. We all had food and it was delicious. Lovely friendly pub , staff were nice and food was good. Would recommend

Food used to be lovely here, they did a cracking deal of 3 sides for £10 and now they’ve upped the price to £13 for 3 sides and the quality of the plates has dropped drastically. Very disappointing.

Shocking customer service will not come here again. I asked for a particular item not to go on my plate as I’m allergic but I was served with this item I specifically asked not to go on my plate because of an allergic reaction. I’m sure the woman in a black maxi dress was the manager who took my plate and threw the item off my plate. She was not happy because I asked them to be taken off my plate. She had a face like a slapped arse and was extremely rude. Atmosphere. Food was delicious shame about customer service. WILL NOT COME HERE AGAIN AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS OR FAMILY

First time visitor and a nice pub and staff. Food was very good and will be visiting again soon with family.

My wife and I organised to have the side corner room booked out for our daughter’s Christening. We had 35 guests with plenty of room. The buffet food and service from the team was great! Really recommend for small gatherings or parties.

Had the fish and chip platter, lovely! Nice pint of Guinness, friendly staff. You pay for the car park at the rear but you get it refunded at the bar. Nice atmosphere with live football. Will definitely return!

Had the misfortune to eat here today. The service was horrendous, food was bad and they took cash only and gave us a receipt saying that we had £20 off but we didn’t. The barman didn’t know what a shandy was he as looking for a bottle 😩 They got the order wrong, not rocket science. Wouldn’t go there again if there was no where else to eat

The landlord has to be the nicest, friendly and most accommodating landlord of any pub in Cardiff. I'd come here just for the service alone.

Booked in for a festive meal. The table was beautifully presented and the food was delicious. Really good value for money with friendly attentive staff.

We were a large party. Two of the meals were sent back as they were inedible! 18£ waisted. After telling staff that the chicken was like rubber and I would like a refund, twice! Nothing was done. I live locally and use this place for all family bdays etc, very disappointed in our experience there were 12 of us and they made a lot of money! The least the manager could of done is apologise but no apology from anyone and No Refund!!!!! BAD Service

Horrid staff. Rude, belittling and with zero customer service skills. I’d rather chew off my own fingers than go here again.

Excellent place to eat and drink

A frequent visitor to the Church Inn. Took a party of 15 adults last week all very pleased with the visit, food and staff excellent.

I wouldn’t work here if i was you, will fire you without notice and leave you financially out of pocket, Not very nice of them. Don’t speak to you very nice either, very agressive on times. will take my business elsewhere Reply from their reply- It was actually 4 times, which i do have stomuch problems i could have medically have shown you. so i see your point but you gave me no notice whatsoever, the “advice” you gave me was shocking, to let a boy who doesn’t have a clue try and tell me what to do. I am expecting my full pay for what i did and when it comes to lateness, im sure that was 2 occasions; but i do also recall your other staff being late often. Seems to be just me you had an issue with though. Left me financially out of pocket and you don’t seem to care. I will happily take to social media to make others aware of your horrendous company policies and ethics thought you guys were better than this.

Great local pub, great beer garden, good atmosphere and ok food, but serves late at night which is great. Good beer options which are advertised but not available at all times, would like to be more aware of which times the drink selections are available.

Called in here for lunch and drinks on Tuesday food was rubbish,pubs great for drinking an tv just don't eat here.

Great local, that I always visit when in the area. However, we were disappointed on Sunday 2/7/23 as I called in the morning to check food service times, and was told they were serving until 9.00 pm. We arrived hungry at around 7.00 pm, to be told that the kitchen was shut! Disappointing to say the least, and not the usual good service we've come to expect.

Lovely village pub, good atmosphere & friendly, helpful staff. We had Katsu chicken with rice, really delicious. Only complaint being that most desserts came with vegetarian or vegan toppings no real custard. Therefore the reason I only gave 5 stars for the food.

Food wasn't the greatest. Onion rings over cooked and greasey and looked like they were cooked in old oil. Chicken was dry. Nacho dips were vinegary/on the turn. But bar tender and owner were very helpful, polite and accommodating

First time I visited this pub and never again. I drink Stella and when I went in for my second pint the bar lady advised me that she had no Stella glasses left. I offered her to use my previous Stella glass, but I was told abruptly that this was not allowed due to covid restrictions date today when I visited this pub was 14/06/2023 (I WOULD SAY IT WAS DUE TO NOBODY COLLECTING THE 100 EMPTY GLASSES LEFT ON TABLES OUTSIDE, WHICH WAS THE REAL REASON THERE WERE NO STELLA GLASSES IN THE BAR) but they allowed glasses to be taken out in to the beer garden instead of plastics. The Bar staff were very rude and over all no customer service, and they didn't really look happy in their jobs. For a pub in a well off area of Cardiff, it's very poor and not very welcoming at all. You would get better service and more friendly staff in the local weatherspoons down the road for half the price. Never again I would also like to state the atmosphere in and outside the pub is very intimidating and not somewhere you would go on either a date or a family occasion. Definitely not a place I would want to take my children. ROUGH PUB

The food was absoloutley gorgeous ... i had fishand chips with mushy peas .. bareley anuthing left on plate .. think the 2 others had burgers .. aa again barely anything left on the plates ..

Asked if there were any tables for food. Was told to wait whilst they cleared tables. Sat there for 20 minutes and watched them clear 5 tables but nobody came over to advise us of this. Walked out and went to a lovely pub down the road.

Popped in for a quick drink recently having never been here before. Looks like a nice, traditional oldie worldie pub from the outside. There is parking onsite and an outdoor seating area. It was late on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty busy - but nice busy rather than packed. The inside matched the traditional pub look and I liked the atmosphere. The customers and staff were friendly and they had a good range of drinks including Magners which is what I opted for. Would visit again 👍

Visited for short time in the garden for a pint 🍺 and resting on the way to other destinations. We liked it very much and promised to visit again for more maybe a eat something. It was a sunny day and for the small space they offering plenty of tables to enjoy the sunny day and a drink.

A classy nice bar in Llanishen. Very spacious with a large outdoor area. The indoors are spacious as well. It’s a crowded place, especially during games and weekend nights. They have burgers + drink option starting at 7£, which is a good deal. Have read other reviews about their good customer service - which I couldn’t notice much probably because it was too crowded at the bar. Great pub with excellent food, chef and bar staff! Always warm and cosy too which is a huge bonus. A great evening out with a friendly atmosphere..All in all such a great local pub!

My daughter and I went for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. Proper gravy and lovely food. The only thing that spoilt it was the seriously bad language from the men talking loudly by the bar. Just wasn't necessary 😕. Wouldn't like to go there with children.

Absolutely terrible booked a table for 7 & only 3 could eat as kitchen had to be cleaned so other half of table would have to wait over half an hour to to be served absolutely ridiculous.

Local friendly pub. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Typical pub food menu. Slow to bringing food out. Plant based burger was burnt. They served food on paper but once the paper got moist it tore and broke up with the food. I would recommend removing the paper if possible before eating. Other wise it was OK.

Went there the other day out of trying to find somewhere new to eat, The prices on the meals were amazing, the staff were super friendly, And the food was extremally impressive, cant wait to go back and try other menu items
