The best restaurants serving Seafood food in South Wales

We were passing through Monmouth in our motorhome and called into Aslans to see if the fish and chips were as good as last time. I am pleased to report that they are - 2 enormous pieces of cod with crispy batter and decent chips. Friendly and quick service for freshly cooked food.

Lovely place with the good variety of fresh fish and see shells. Definitely worth to visit!

Come here as my work colleagues loved it , last time I was on the lunch run , I use it regularly and out standing food and service, quality of food is always good too . Thank you very much again .

Chips are fantastic but rissoles were dreadful. Need a magnifying glass to find any corned beef, just big lumps of potato. Very, very disappointed

I booked a table on the 13th of February 2025 ,To celebrate Valentine's Day as the website said it wasn't open apart from Thursdays. As this used to be one of our favourite restaurants, we decided to plan everything around this 7 pm booking. A few days before I received an email asking me to confirm this booking as I booked it last month, I confirmed it and then I received another email confirming the booking themselves. So on the 13th, me and my partner had such a lovely day exploring Wales and was looking forward to ending our day with a Bang and to our surprise it was shut. No lights on, no one around to ask, complete darkness from inside. I rang the telephone, heard it ringing from the inside and nothing. Massively disappointed us yesterday and it is such a shame as we really enjoyed the food there. Completely ruined our valentine's day, I believe we are due some compensation or a free meal before EVER going back there.

My recent experience at No600 in March 2025 was unsatisfactory. The establishment exhibited an unusually quiet atmosphere, characterized by a minimal number of customers and the presence of only one server, which established a rather negative ambiance. The menu was limited, offering insufficient choices. I ordered a cream tea, while my mother chose the quiche; both items were subpar and priced higher than expected. I received my hot drink well in advance of our food, resulting in an unwelcome wait of approximately 30 minutes. Upon the arrival of the quiche, it was evident that it was dry and accompanied only by rocket, despite the menu indicating that it would include both salad and slaw. We were informed about the absence of slaw only after my mother inquired, yet the full price was still charged. Furthermore, the service was notably slow, and the waitress's assistance was lacking. The previously welcoming atmosphere has diminished significantly. Given this experience, we have made the decision not to return to No600.

Went there yesterday for 2 x regular box of chips and was not disappointed! Fond memories of Boofy’s when I was a little kid at the beach and it’s even better now than I remember. Highly recommend!
