Absolutely delicious fish and chips and made fresh to order. The best in Cardiff! The fish batter melts in the mouth and the cod has the skin taken off which is brilliant.

Excellent service, delicious hot food.Any chance of staying open after 8.30pm? Still a 5 star 🌟 service.

Beautiful fish and chips, light bubbly batter, consistently good over a number of visits.

Enjoyed this place many times over the years, but felt a bit let down by the curry sauce which is ordered and paid for being missed from my bag.

The owner is a top geezer. He Serves top class British food with the grace and elegance of a mountain yogi. A genuine pleasure to be served there and the fish n chips are first class. No greasy, stodgy feeling afterward, just a clean crisp flavour in a good portion. Everybody’s happy 👍

Cracking chips, great service and even better price!

Crispy, bubbly, almost tempura style batter (wouldn’t surprise me if it was, and was made with sparkling water). A massive scrump/batter bit hanging over the flesh like a waterfall frozen in the deepest part of a Welsh winter. The cod was thick, flaky, juicy and moist. Cooked to perfection. Chips were also 10 on 10. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, with potato that actually tasted of something. A good variety was used. Sublime. Washed down with a Ben Shaw’s Bitter Shandy! Bliss.

I would of given 5 stars but my bread roll was green when I opened it to put my chips in.

Fish (cod) taste 4 stars batter sorry to say was a type of tempura batter wasn't thick enough, for my taste. Walked 75 yards unpacked it the bottom of the piece of fish was soggy not the crunchy first bite. 3 stars 5. 10 stars for the original bluebirds shirts on the wall. I will be going back I want to give pie and chips a test at lunch time.

Youngers is an amazing Chip shop.. when it's open. I've never known a Chip shop to close so frequently throughout the year. When you manage to get food when it is open it's amazing, but, it's so hit and miss you're never guaranteed to find it open which is a shame since I've been going to Youngers since a young child.

Amazing chippie, old fashioned but makes it different, lovely food and great service. Faultless food everytime, your order is worth the wait (always made fresh for you) and our regular for years now !

Absolutely the best fish and chips in Cardiff. Fish comes skinless and boneless - delicious light crispy batter and golden chips accompanied by very tasty homemade mushy peas (real pea coloured no food dye used here). Prices are good as are portion sizes; the shop itself is pristine and staff are always friendly and efficient. By far my favourite chip shop in Cardiff - and I’ve tried many!

This is, hands down, the best fish and chips ever. We have lived in a variety of cities, holiday in Cornwall (and had “famous” fish and chips) but can honestly say nowhere beats this. Always cooked fresh to order, lovely friendly and efficient staff, clean and so consistent. Thank you Younger’s!

Thought we'd try Youngers fish & chips for a change, having become disappointed with the other chippies in the area. The fish & chips were delicious, having been freshly cooked for us. They cost a little more than our regular takeaways but it was well worth the extra. Staff were very efficient & friendly. Will definitely be going back.

We wanted to try this place to see what it was like. Positives: Cod was excellent and batter very light. Unfortunately there are more negatives than positives: Price was extortionate: 2 small cod, large chips (which was actually very stingie portion), large sausage in and batter and small curry sauce came to a staggering £16.90 which is way too expensive! The small (large portion) of chips we soggy and undercooked. Some still were crunchy raw. This is a basic for a chippy! You charged 10p for a paper bag that I didn't want as I brought my own reusable bag. It's not the 10p, more the sustainability of giving out all that waste unnecessarily. Suggestion: Ask your customers 1st if they have their own reusable bags before just charging them for something that creates unwanted extra waste and cost. The booking system isn't fair on people turning up without booking theirs 1st. The wait is too long. Unfortunately Youngers you fell short because of your high prices and soggy, uncooked chips. There are better chippies in Cardiff so I'll be going back to my trusted favourite and won't bother with you again. A shame as I've just moved close to Youngers and thought you would become my local chippy.

Absolutely delicious. I am fussy with cod and batter. This cod had a real light coating. Inside the takeaway it was fresh smelling, clean oil. I'm sorry I didn't find this place years ago. Best fish I ever tasted and worth every penny. Hard to find any fault.

Following a few hours of shopping in Cardiff, we decided to visit Roath Park on the way home. Whilst in the car, we used the online app to order fish and chips. The app was easy to use and the food was ready when we arrived. The person who served us was very welcoming, and the food was still piping hot when we reached Roath Park. The portion sizes were excellent and the food was very tasty. The fish was cooked perfectly with a crispy batter and the chips were amazing.

Ordered via the App which was so easy. Went to collect at time specified and our fish and chip meals were ready on time and beautifully cooked - batter was light and crispy, chips were crispy and really hot! Is this a large chips? My girlfriend recommend this chippy and TBF they are banging chips but are you joking? I eat chips from all over the diff and this is by far the smallest portion of "large" chips I've ever received.

I came into the shop just as they were about to close, but they couldn't do enough for me, and cooked 2 cod and chips, which were stunning, and even threw in some mushy peas and a curry sauce.After a long 12 hour shift, I couldn't be more grateful, once again, a big Thank You!

This is an excellent fish and chip shop. Slightly more expensive but really worth it, especially when you consider that it is still cheaper than most other takeaways. Home made mushy peas are fantastic, decent portion sizes and the fish not dry (my usual bugbear). This is now my go to chippy!

Youngers is by far THE best fish and chip shop in Cardiff. I ordered a large cod supper (£9.45) with the fish lightly battered - this came with a side of mushy peas I also ordered a small curry sauce. The fish was spectacular - skinless and boneless with white and fleshy meat and a delicious light crispy batter- chips were cooked perfectly (well done not hard and underdone like many chip shops offer) - with some colour and great flavour. Mushy peas were by far the best mushy peas I've tasted for a long time - Youngers make their own so the peas are not a luminous green colour but a more natural mushy pea colour . Curry sauce was also good but tbh the fish, chips and mushy peas were a total triumph. Portion size was perfect. Great food, great service, great place. Would love for them to have a delivery service but I understand that these services can be costly for small business - I'd like Youngers to stay in business making first class fish and chips for a good long time so am happy to get make the journey over to get arguably the best fish and chips in Cardiff.

We don’t indulge in fish and chips very often, but when we do, we opt for Younger’s. There is no better takeaway fish in Cardiff.On this occasion, we booked online but mistakenly submitted too early a time for pick up. On arrival, we were told that they’d tried to keep the food warm but were sure it was spoiled. They then offered to cook us a fresh meal as they would be unhappy to send us away with substandard food. Five minutes later, we walked out with our freshly, perfectly cooked fish and chips for three. Delicious.Thank you Younger’s - wonderful as ever.

We always travel halfway across Cardiff for Younger’s as they are worth it (trust me, we tried many!) but tonight was even better than normal. Great service and exceptional fish and chips. Highly recommended.

Youngers is an excellent fish and chip shop that I cannot recommend highly enough that chips are crispy that fish is fresh and they're curries are flavoursome and plentiful very good all around and they have taken the some excellent covid measures to make it still feel inviting yet safe

This chip shop has yet to let us down with the quality of its chips. Always lovely golden chips without fail. The only problem with this place is the lack of convenient parking. Especially if like the last time we visited it was because we could smell the chips while in traffic. 😋🍟😁

Perfect fish and chips. Fresh fish, light crispy batter and really well cooked chips. I had large cod, my wife had cod bites and shared one mushy peas and one Irish curry. Both very content; plenty of food but not too stodgy as the batter was so light. We used the new order online system and it worked perfectly. Food exactly as ordered, even selecting salt and vinegar separately for each meal,and ready as stated.

I popped in to Youngers Fish Bar this week and enjoyed their weekly special which I have to say was fantastic value.For £5.50 I had Cod Bites, Chips and a pot of Indian Curry Sauce. The portion size was just right and I was able to polish most of it off.The staff were really friendly and helpful. There was a steady flow of Customers which is always a good sign.I'll be back soon to try their Plaice!
