Was very disappointed booked for my friend Birthday, unfortunately she had injury so we wanted to cancel as her wrist is broken. Contacted the hotel and was told it’s non refundable ( however this is only in the terms and conditions I was told but you don’t see this until you book/ pay and the tickets comes through with the terms and condition not say anything about this before booking). My friend felt bad so we made the booking and we where told it’s no booking under this name even we have the confirmed tickets and the email from the Apex hotel saying the booking is on, after waiting finally we have received some left overs, service was terrible never received and tea or my coffee with the afternoon tea, no plates just the stand we needed to eat as the wreat class was starting at 2pm. Tried to get some staff attention to ask for the drinks, after 3 different staff we asked still no sign or the Prosecco or the hot drinks. We both were nearly in tears such a terrible experience. Only positive was about the two lovely lady from the class both helped my friend and checked up on our drinks…… of course we still waiting for it as never received the hot drinks. Explained this when we left no apologies or even ask if we wanted a take away hot drinks. Please don’t book as it’s a massive disappointment. I would book the wreath making but not the afternoon tea. Terrible customer service. I would be ashamed for such a class hotel delivery as bad services as this was.

Not the chippy it once was. Dropped in for a fish supper and a chicken supper. " We don't do chicken" I was amazed to hear. In fact the young girl on the counter appeared not to understand what I was asking for. Oh dear, and to think once upon a time, with Susan L at the helm this place almost won top chippy in Scotland. How the mighty have fallen. Sadly, in future, I will drive on past . I suggest you do too.

I visited the Land and Sea for the first time since all the Covid restrictions kicked in. As a rule in general, it's not my first port of call for a chip shop. Nothing to do with the quality of food, as it's actually not too bad. No it's all to do with the long standing over zealous behaviour, from their staff who try to squeeze every last penny out of you after you've already placed an order! Indeed it's quite belittling when you're asked in front of 20 other people, do you want drinks, buttered roll and a bag etc and then they can't get your money in their till quick enough, even all though you might be waiting another 15 minutes on your order. They are obviously told to do this as they all behave the same and to be honest, I find it over the top and very off-putting.On placing my first covid order with them, I wasn't asked whether I wanted a bag, but on collecting my takeaway, it was in a brown paper bag, which on the receipt they have charged 12p for? Nothing to do with the 12p charge, but this behaviour is absolutely scraping the barrel. There are plenty of other takeaways within the area who are happy to receive custom during these covid times and who are not forcing or charging for bags. Needless to say, that's where I will revert back to!

I try to give positive reviews, but on this occasion I can find nothing positive. I ordered a baked potato off the menu with beans and cheese and side salad. I felt that the service for a chip shop, was very slow and it wasn't particularly busy, the chips and fish seemed to be ready in the warmers, so after approx 20 mins wait, my meal arrived in a box wrapped up in paper. I only had a 3 minute journey to make. When I unwrapped the parcel, my friend asked if it was pizza, but no, just a squashed up potato which was cold as were the beans and the cheese was partially melted in places, the salad was just a mush. Horrible. Needless to say I won't be back.

I am 70 years old and a lifelong lover of Chinese food. Admittedly most of my meals have been throughout North America. I can say with confidence that I have never had worse Chinese food. The hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour, the Szechuan chicken was weirdly bland, the curry vegetables were a gelatinous mess, the fried rice was not like anything I have had before! This was a bizarre culinarily experience. Others who like/love the food here have got had much Chinese food. On the plus side…service was excellent, the place was clean and the prices were reasonable. Our waitress was pleasant and engaging..

Exceptional chip shop in the centre of Gullane that also offers pizzas and kebabs. We had fish and chips on our first night, they were to die for. All freshly cooked to order and very well priced. We also had pizza and calzone on another visit Again all freshly made and served by very friendly staff. Highly recommend.

it was not a visit it was a honeymoon delivery. I ordered food on the app for 6pm for my sons 15 birthday as a treat. My order came to £50. It arrived late, it arrived cold, they forgot dips that I had ordered. My son who wanted this for a birthday tea was so disappointed I ended up binning it and getting a Chinese instead which cost me extra. I will never be back again and this coming from someone who lives here and has used that chipper in its different names etc all my life. Well done as fish and chips is my absolute favourite but will never be getting it from there again
