Hard working friendly staff, food was good, will go back.

1 of the best chip shops in Midlothian these guys are great foods amazing there truly up against it with delivery’s as they have so many delivery orders and walk in orders to cook and they cook for the best food people need to remember and take into account they are trying there best with a huge customer base if your not happy waiting on deliveries do what takeaways are best at ! Walk in orders !! These guys are pro extremely well cooking good tasting food Take into account staff shortages and especially the state of Midlothian traffic and the state of the roads one traffic light can slow all orders throughout the night knock on effects slow orders down 30 minutes overall. But at the end of the day well worth the wait 👏👏

2 fish and chips tonight! Absolutely disgusting 🫣 Fish and chips cold and the batter was soggy. Must have sat around in restaurant, to become inedible. Chips, cold tiny little bits of potato. Absolutely vile. We only live 2 minutes from the restaurant, so fish was cold when they served us to us for carryout. Will not be back.

Ordered a large fish supper and collected.. Very nice taste and the lady was friendly reasonable price.

We were staying at theDrummohr Caravan and Camping Site Musselburgh to watch a friend at the Edinburgh Marathon.We arrived about 5pm set up the caravan and awning asked reception about local eateries and they immediately gave us Jaz's Fish Bar which we rang ordered and paid for our meals including delivery only £19.50 .The meal arrived about 40 minutes later piping hot and tasted great especially the battered haggis great value.

I just can’t understand why people would leave a poor comment for this establishment. We had the following Black pudding supper, scotch pie supper and a white pudding supper. Everyone of us were very happy with both the servings and quality. I would also add the staff were also very pleasant and kind. 10 stars if they had one. I’m more than sure you will enjoy.

This is the worst fish and chips we have ever had. Greasy, poor quality. Sauces poor, lack of fish and not fresh. Would not recommend.

Very disappointing. Made to wait 15 minutes for food that had been clearly been sat there for a LONG time, and was solid as a rock and inedible. Staff were rude, and being charged that amount for that standard of food is appalling.

Booked our food using the app. It was very simple to use. When I arrived, it was a short wait until.the order was made up. The food was freshly made and tasted delicious. I had Special fish, the breadcrumb coating was crisp and not oily. Plenty chips too. The fryer cabinets were full ready for a busy Saturday evening ahead. Great.

Thoroughly decent and legit local chippie that does a lot of other options at no expense to the core product. Folks that run the place are reliably nice as well. The half fish supper is a really good option to have for those who fancy a snack but don’t want the onslaught of a full portion. Only tiny constructive critique is that needs to get some tartare sauce in for their excellent fish. ** Very disappointed to try to visit tonight only to find the place closed an hour before listed times.

Absolutely disgusting food DO NOT BUY FORM HERE, phoned to see where my food and juice was, On the phone staff were very rude, only good side is the driver paid OUT HIS OWN POCKET FOR JUICE! Due to the lack of communication.

For £8.60 a fish supper it’s as cheap as you’ll ever find these days. It came with 2 pieces of some kind of cheap battered fish. Chips were ok. Overall nothing special but for the money it’s ok.

Been here a few times when new to the area trying out various places and jazs is always a good solid fall back for some decent pizza or chips always get a laugh when in ordering and always friendly

Ordered a fish supper on-line and it duly arrived but without the fish! Got 2 fish suppers tonight. We’re both in our 60s and we both have never had a batter that was inedible. It was floury and spongy and just horrible! Maybe oil not hot enough but really poor fayre. Chips were ok.

Got a chicken pakora supper waited an hour and a half on delivery once we got delivery pakora wasn't cooked properly also got chicken kebab which was overcooked and got donner wrap which wasn't cooked properly can safely say won't be back

Treated myself to a wee chip roll, first in a very long time. I wasn't disappointed. The roll was fresh and piled high with fresh hot chips, salt(not too much) and sauce. The shop was clean and bright, the staff member who served me acknowledge me as she was busy, then was polite, efficient and friendly. Nothing to fault really. Thanks for the best chip roll!!

I like my favourite is donner Berger and chips is so lovely and the staff is very super lovely ladies I will go back again so much is fun a lot and thank you yours so nice and the shop is clean so nice to kids

UPDATE JULY 2021 The onion rings are rock hard. They will seriously test your gnashers. Not only are they like granite, but the amount of onion inside them is incredibly thin. Perhaps they started out thicker but the over-frying caused them to shrivel up and die. Why do I keep ordering them? Will I ever learn? Original Review Fish is always over-cooked, even when cooked from fresh. Onion rings will break your teeth. They're re-fried to heat them up. Chips are nothing to write home about. Kebabs, pizzas, etc are also available. Mind you, I've had worse.

We placed an order for 2 x Fish Suppers and waited patiently for 30 mins. Turns out they missed our order so we had been waiting for longer than we should've been. I was also spoken to very rudely by one of the members of staff. The food was good but overall wasn't worth the wait or bad service.

Just went in here for a takeaway when we were passing through and would not recommend. Phoned 20 minutes before we arrived to place our order. They hadn’t even started cooking it when we arrived so had to wait outside. They sent me a text message with a price when I ordered, when I arrived the price had increased by £6. I had asked for a Chicken kebab on the phone and was told that they were sold out, however the customer in front of me ordered a chicken kebab and was given this. I then asked the woman serving why I had been told there was none left, to be told in a rude and dismissive tone that it was only a half portion and she was just the messenger. I stood outside to wait for my order and could see the woman making my chips and cheese, she lifted something from the cheese and salad bar and ate it before picking up my cheese and putting it on my chips. I was absolutely disgusted! However I had already paid for my order and didn’t want to get into another confrontation so I came out and ended up putting our order for a family of 4 in the bin.Will never ever be back and I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you are drunk at 3am and don’t care what you are eating!

Probably the best fish and chip shop in the universe. last fish I had out of there was a perfect fillet. Not a single bone, not even at the gristly end. AND they do deep. fried. pizza. If there is a Heaven I hope Jaz's is the chippie there.

The staff are nice but the manager was rude and a little opinionated which is not professional.

We have stopped here a couple of times while travelling back to Edinburgh from the East Coast and this will be our last time.Unfortunately we will be using one of the other fish and chip shops in Musselburgh next time.The fish batter was not cooked properly as was doughy and fell apart as soon as we touched it with a knife and fork. The fish was therefore inedible and we had to throw the two suppers away ! Fish batter should be crispy and needs to be properly cooked.

I ordered my food for collection and they got my order wrong. I ordered chips and curry and received chips and cheese. Normally I would be OK with it but its not the first time they have messed up my order so its pit me off going there for a while. Its a shame cos rhe staff are so lovely and friendly.

Last time it was dire. Chicken shish kebab, burnt and dry. This time hubby went back when he was meant to go to Frying Scotsman but went to Jaz’s for some reason. Same as last time but way less chicken, still burnt. Very disappointed. Not going back. You can see from photos it’s very thin pieces of chicken and there was only 1 piece more chicken than that. Total waste of money.

Decided to give Jaz's Musselburgh another try after a period of over a year of absence. Often you put in your order by phone and you get there 20 mins later (at the time you were told to collect) and they haven’t even put it on). That was the issue we had previously so gave it a miss for a while.I guess nothing changes and it got worse as told to collect in 15mins - arrived 15 mins later, only to be waiting a further 20 minutes for a burnt chicken shish kebab.

We allways get our chippy from here. Tonight it was not good . The chips were huge and greasy to say the least i asked for chips and curry sauce hardly any curry sauce and the chips were awful usually they are good. Wont be going back.

Long wait to be served overcooked very small fish. Profit before quality does not make for return visits.

The phrase spoilt for choice was made for jaz's. Being from south of the border we expected to walk into a fish bar & have choices of fish and chips how wrong we were fish home made pies pizzas kebabs pasta and the list goes on. We visited at lunchtime and everything we ordered was cooked fresh for us. It was all incredible & the fish so fresh.

This fish & chip shop is one of the best around. The service is excellent, and the fish & chips are always freshly cooked, often to order. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and I would highly recommended it.

Placed a telephone order at 6.45pm and told straight away would be and hour and a half or maybe a wee bit longer for delivery. Placed my order as was happy to wait as the food is always fab. Order arrived early at 8pm (in time for kick off) and this even on ladies day! Had to give the shop a call as an item was missing. Spoke to counter assistant then and guy (manager i think) and our Kebab was here 10 mins later with a 2ltr bottle of juice to apologise. Now thats a serve, mistakes can be made by everyone and better still rectified quickly. Food was fab as always too,

Absolutely shocked and appalled by the behaviour of the staff here I have whitnessed the discrimination of a 19 year old on trial where she has been told she looks too small and young to work there also whitnessing the disgusting poor conditions at work with the fishy dish water being changed not even once a day and is constantly dyed yellow from the stinking old mouldy curry from the dishes, left rashes all over her skin from the terrible state of this place. If anyone’s ordering food be prepared for unsanitary conditions, age discrimination and old food. Shocking

We gave this place a few tries, but the service is no better. We ordered online but despite being told it would be 20 minutes it was nearer 40. We weee sitting outside in the car waiting and seems they didn’t put our order on until we got in. Then they tried to say they were very busy, not realising we were sitting outside. Then tonight we were kept waiting again. Previously my husband went in and other people were served before him. So we're done here.

Ordered for delivery to our holiday lodge. Received order paid for delivery and food missing. When i called to complain attitude was really bad was told that they were too busy no interest in delivering missing food and comment made that its only onion rings. The operator said she would deliver and they eventually returned with no food and £2 and was told that we would have been finished anyway so no point in delivering food?? On a plus side food that arrived was OK however attitude of particular staff member was all wrong and would not let her near a phone as she in her own words was about to have a breakdown as she has had enough ....

A very busy chippy, 99% of the meals are of good standard always busy between 5 and 7 prepare to wait. Home delivery service good but again you can wait up to an hour. Now my local 😁

Decided to get fish and chips for dinner this evening. Returned with polystyrene containers filled with ok chips and pretty awful fish. Had obviously been sitting there for a while, batter was old and chewy and the fish was flat and tasteless, probably defrosted from the cash and carry. Will not be returning.

Hi guys vote you one of the best Chippy’s in Edinburgh. Not on today’s experience the worst fish supper I have ever had. Batter on fish was like bread that had been left out for a week. Don’t how long it had been sitting after it had been cooked.

Steady queue of customers all the time we were there. Food cooked to order and staff were busy keeping up with the demand. Tasted good and reasonably priced.

Average food, special fish was a bit soggy and fish was watery which is unusual if using fresh fish. Server very dour, a wee smile or friendly thankyou would be appreciated - has put us off returning. Good range of menu and always seems busy. Prices reasonable too.

I have been eating in Jaz's since being a small kid in Musselburgh Grammar School. The service is always fast and the staff are really friendly.

I need to say firstly that I have nothing but praise and love for the owners here, been a loyal customer since they were at Mario’s and in some ways they’re a victim of their own success being the best chippie in Musselburgh but it’s crazy having to wait over 20 minutes for a portion of chips. It’s not the first time I’ve gone in and had to wait ages. Yes the staff are working hard but tonight other customers will visibly angry and having their order taken straight away then having to wait ages for food

oh my goodness over an hour for a delivery not told this when i placed my order.when i did get order it was not what i asked for called again to explaine my chips were cold and pizza wrong to be told we never charged you to out donner on first !!!!! think the owner came on the phone and offerd to cook what i wanted after talking to his rude staff and getting order mixed up etc i declined this offer. shame as it used to be a good chip shop last few times been in it has been poor standard.

Popped in for a bit of super but rather than having their fabulous fist we went for a donar kebab it was huge and lots of salad in it and the meat was absolutely delicious moist juicy and so damn taste

I'm maybe odd but I find eating chips on a warm day is a great way to amble through Musselburgh's countryside. And their chips have always been fresh and hot.

We ordered a home delivery and 30 minutes after placing the order got an e-mail saying the order ha been cancelled with no explanation given. We have been a customer of Jaz's for many years and have always enjoyed the food, but Musselburgh has plenty of other takeaway options and if this is how they treat their customers, we will be getting our takeaway home deliveries from elsewhere. The food is not that good that they can afford to treat loyal customers in this way.

Call me old-fashioned but if you're calling yourself "Jaz's Fish Bar" I'd expect half-decent fish. Nope!9 times out of ten the fish is over-cooked. Possibly because it's kept hot for a long time after it's actually cooked. Unpleasant. Really unpleasant.I did ask for a "special" fish once, one that's cooked in breadcrumbs while you wait. Also over-cooked.Haven't tried their pizzas. Doner kebabs passable.Staff work hard and are friendly.Please improve your fish. Please, please, please.....

As in Scotland had to have Haggis, cooked to order and it was very tasty along with well cooked chips and curry sauce, also very good value for money.

We had excellent take-away fish 'n' chips AKA fish suppers here while visiting Edinburgh. Staff were friendly and service was fast.We were interested in the chippy side of things, but as the sign outside says, they also do pizzas, kebabs, burgers and pastas.

I just needed a bit of carb after a heavy drinking session, the chips were served hot and fast just what I needed as the bus was due soon, it didn't help that I got on the wrong bus but the chips were lovely
