Alpino Fish & Chip Shop in East Renfrewshire

Very very very overpriced, over £7 for a portion of mediocre chips and 2 portions mushy peas!!!..............

absolutely disgusting. tasted very old and not tasty. had about two bites then binned it would consider to be a waste of money - as with delivery its £9.50

I don't know if the standards have dropped, but I always visited this chip shop as I come from Barrhead and live in Paisley now. I won't be back. My brother picked up two fish suppers yesterday for our tea and it was ridiculous. Little crisp dregs for chips and the fish had dried up batter on it with hardly any fish. It looked as if it had been lying for hours and certainly wasn't what we are used to from Alpino. We were very disappointed, but because we were in Paisley and going out it wasn't feasible to go back and complain, but we certainly will be going elsewhere in future. If this is the standard of a fish supper then we won't be back. A fish supper is a treat nowadays and not cheap so you should therefore get what you pay for and this was a big let down!

Alpino's is a good quality chip shop/ restaurant in Barrhead. Food is cooked quickly but properly and is reasonably priced. Great special fish.

Best fish tea about being coming here for as long as i can remember my family still do aswell all food lovely but more so a fish tea nice wee seating area

Having left Barrhead 40 years ago, I was really pleased to see, on a recent visit, that Alpino's was still there. It was one of my favourite chip shops and I am glad to say that the standard has not dropped. I had fish and chips with a mug of coffee. The batter on the fish (2 fillets) was really crisp and the chips were not at all soggy. A decent portion with all the necessary condiments on the table. The coffee was good but not great but, my only complaint, there was no sweetener, only sugar. The waitress who served me was very pleasant and my bill came to less than £10. Although I am not in Barhead often, I would certainly eat at Alpino's again.

This is the ONLY Fish and Chip shop I will visit. The quality is great and the hygiene is better than most places. Service is always with a smile.

Good freshly cooked food, good quality, and very varied selection of food. The premises are clean and offer good value. Staff are very pleasant and welcoming.

Went to alpino tonight on the way home from work for something quick to eat. Food was warm and tasted good. Good value for money and staff were friendly and chatty.

We made a complaint about the way we wer treated I store . Subsequently he supposed manager starting shouting and swearing at me words wer exchanged then she chased me out the shop and Try'd to attack me. No joke! On a lighter note there mac n cheese tastes like watery milk. Avoid at all costs. I'm thinking about pressing charges!

I used to visit this restaurant for take away and to sit in. Bought food (take away) recently, was charged 5p more than the total price showing on display. Three members of staff argued for about 10 minutes saying the till price was the one they charged and kept saying they weren't going to argue with me over 5p while continuing to do exactly that. They also muttered and made their opinion clear. They eventually said they hadn't got round to updating the displayed price and insisted the boss said they must charge the price on the till, this is not legal I'm sure and I for one will not give my custom here again. Make sure you check the menu prices and take away displayed prices.

Excellent wee cafe Service great with friendly staff Menu simple and very reasonable,with delicious home made dishes on the menu such as steak pie mince and potatoes etc...... Would deff recommend will deff visit again Fab kids menu also which was ideal

My family visited Alpino after being recommended to us by friends. We certainly weren't disappointed! We all ordered fish teas, they were cooked to order and it was honestly the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. It was very busy with most people having fish and chips. Can't wait to return!!!
