our go to for fish suppers . gutted the shop in the west end closed . so we don't visit as often but occasionally drive from north glasgow to south (Giffnock ) for a catch

I had a beautiful 'medium' fish and chips here yesterday but I don't believe that charging 13.65 for for a supper with a couple of pickles is reasonable. I understand that you are in a very upmarket neighbourhood but I was only passing through and for this reason I wont be able to justify return custom.

Place is great , food is delicious, only negative is the price increase.

Hi I got the fish lunch yesterday I was really disappointed as it's normally great. Chips were fine but fish very small. Hope it's back to usual good self next time.

No venden un súper pescado... tienes que construir tu cena... compras un pescado... compras tus papas fritas. Usted compra sus guisantes mushy usted compra su cebolla usted sal n vinagre en la casa . . El pescado era bueno pero empezó a empaparse en la parte inferior a mitad de camino. Tal vez un papel a prueba de grasa debajo ayudaría. mushy peas salsa de curry bueno. Las patatas fritas eran pequeñas porciones en un cubo de lujo .. cuando se trataba de mesa estaba bien presentado .. lata de coca 2. 95 . . . . yikes . . . así que 1 eglefino regular. 1 pequeña. 1 x papas fritas 1 x guisantes tiernos 1 x salsa de curry 1. x cebolla encurtida 2 x factura de coca en total poco menos de 38 libras.

Here is my review of this place. On the17th of Feb (evening) Charged £37.55 for three regular fish suppers 😱. I would have been £11 cheaper for the same order at a competitors place. The girls behind the counter aren't always friendly I've noticed. I prefer just to have my food ordered so I dont have to interact with their attitude. The interaction is meh isually and food plonked infront of you! Competitors fish and chips shop that we like is a little further from from us. However they are so friendly and I you don't get asked stupid awkward question like "do you want a bag:" especially when you have just charged me for one! So yes misery guts I would like a bag to carry three fish suppers home! Not going to deny food is tasty but prices have to come down if you want to keep your regulars. I'm happy to drive a bit further because price difference is staggering.

Placed an order for delivery, took near 90 minutes to arrive only for them to deliver the wrong order. Terrible.

FISH SUPPER: I mean it was nice, smaller portion of fish than I am accustomed to, especially compared to other fish and chip shops in the local area (yes, I've tried many of them), tasty chips and you even get a slice of lemon and some sauce. But at WELL over tweleve pounds (£12.45) it's defintely NOT value for money - priced for the well healed area the restaurant resides in, not the pocket. Better value places elsewhere with quality to match or better.

Used to love going here, but this is the third order I've received that's been woefully cold, even with heating up again it tastes rubbish. Also didn't give the can that I ordered (missing items happen from time to time but it's happened too many times over the years.) Fed up, used to be amazing, but now it's overpriced, late and cold, and the "lost" items is basically theft now. Sick of it won't be back.

Ordered haddock and chips. Curry chips. Mac cheese and fritters Smallest fish we ever had Nicely cooked. Smallest portion of curry chips. Tasted OK. Fritters x 3 they were greasy and not nice. Mac cheese side. For 31. 44 in total it really was not that special tbh. Service fee of £2. 49 and a delivery fee of £3.50.. rip off Small portions and a huge price. Was nothing special. Mac cheese was anaemic looking. I can make a better one tbh. 1st in a long time and it will probably be the last!

Got a fish supper on the 14th of December.The price is absolutely disgusting 🫣 £16.50 for a normal fish supper and a can of soda.The chips were cold greasy and stuck to each other.A very poor show for that price,won't be back.It would be cheaper to order from a restaurant!!

I was greeted by abigail at the door, she was very sassy and rude. Did not enjoy my fish n chips experience with her… I will not be coming back soon.. She was very bland in personality and made me revolt with pure rage. Not. Happy.

Had an expensive take out as needed GF option. Fish was pretty decent if a bit greasy. Portions of chips in a 'supper' was laughable given thr prices and not well cooked. Disappointing, won't be rushing back in any hurry.

Good food and atmosphere but pricey

I got a takeaway so hard to comment on the service & atmosphere, but I would say the food was very good! Although for the price compared to other chippies, it’s not quite the same. I would say the chips are just like any other local chippie. However, you do get things here that you don’t get anywhere else & that is what is exciting about it! Very tasty.

I recently visited Catch and was incredibly disappointed with the changes they've made to their chicken tempura. Not only have they significantly upped the prices, but the portion size has noticeably decreased. What used to be a generous and satisfying dish now feels like a skimpy offering that leaves you wanting more – but not in a good way. For the price they’re charging, you’d expect better value and quality. Unfortunately, it feels like they’re cutting corners to maximize profit, and it’s just not worth it anymore. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Ordered vegan battered sausage dinner. Not very nice, using veggie sausage that is like bubble and squeak in a log, rather than meat replacement. Also didn't put any salt and vinegar on chips, didn't even ask if we wanted it. And was meant to have mushy peas but they didn't put them in the bag.

Had home delivery which was for the most part delivered to the front door then straight out the back door.. To the bin. Can't believe this place has such a credible reputation for their fish and chips after the trash they served up to myself.

Was served by a lovely girl by the name of Freya. I had haddock and king prawn tempura with salt and chilli chips. The meal was served with tartare sauce and homemade sweet chilli dip. Fish was fresh and delicious. The king prawns were amazing. The salt and chilli chips had a kick to it especially at the bottom where a lot of chilli spice sat. A great treat night Friday. Will return again.

Fabulous fresh fish cooked to order

Ordered two single Haddock and a portion of chips. These were delivered via Uber eats an hour later frozen cold. On phoning Catch I was advised to take the issue up with Uber Eats as it has nothing to do with them. Well, I think you will find it had everything to do with you as you allowed a third-party to deliver which was extremely inadequate. As a result of which makes you liable for said extremely poor service.

Dined here for a spot of lunch today with my wife - we weren’t disappointed. The food is amazing - a very generous portion of haddock and chips with a side portion of mushy peas. Followed by the biggest portion of sticky toffee pudding I’ve seen in my life! Friendly service, top marks well deserved. We’ll definitely be back. Update - Dined here again today (7/11/23) for lunch - once again we were not disappointed. Food was absolutely delicious, freshly cooked and tasted amazing. Friendly and helpful service once again. Looking forward to our next visit! Update - Popped in again today (13/6/24) for lunch, once again five stars from me. 😊 Excellent friendly service, the food was amazing - all piping hot, freshly cooked and tasted fantastic.

Well when I was last there, I was the only customer and when the food arrived I could see why, nothing looked fresh like it used to. You know something it is a real shame because the place used to be great but since they changed their menu and put their prices up, it just seemed to have went downhill, I used to be a loyal customer but I definitely won't be back.

Paid over £12 for medium fish dipper. Waited 10 mins and was not fresh. Called up to complain and told that it was cooked fresh and that was that. Definitely wasn’t fresh at all. The dog enjoyed it though

Lovely quality and swift delivery too. The 3 vegan sausage supper option with the curry sauce is delicious. I've missed having a sausage supper since going veggie and this is great. My family said the haddock suppers were excellent too. A real treat.

After leaving great reviews over the years and raving about the food they have severly dropped in quality. I order chips and cheese that had no salt and vinegar the chips were really dry and did not seem fresh. The cheese was solid hard considering I am a 1 min drive away from the place the food was really cold. If you want a proper chippie I suggest you order from salt and vinegar in Shawlands.

We returned to Catch Giffnock for a birthday dinner and were not disappointed. The food was great and the service was fantastic. Our server was friendly & efficient, and also great with the kids. We will be back soon no doubt! Thank you.

Just dreadful, from being ignored upon entering despite a booking. Filthy glasses , pitiful portions and dreadful haggis. TACOS plural which is actually single and miniscule. Filthy toilet which stunk.Then the bill just over 50 quid for two. Just avoid.

Beautiful food but I’ve had THREE orders in a row where items are missing. Chip portion sizes also entirely inconsistent.

Some of the best gluten free fish around, sole was great. Have a separate gluten free menu Haggis was really decent quality, salt n chilli chips and curry also good

Wow, I am shocked. This was a terrible meal. We used to bring international visitors for the seafood platter but the menu was downgraded to standard FnC and we now order only about once per year. We had hoped Catch would maintain its quality but tonights meal for £50 was almost inedible. We had the oh boy burger, scampi, haddock, fries and onions rings. The chicken in the burger was dry and so salty half was left uneaten. The scampi pieces were tiny and the haddock and onion rings were so oily we felt sick. We could have had a so much better and cheaper meal cooking at home. Sadly Catch is off the menu for us. Very poor quality and value.

We had a delicious lunch here today. The batter on my fish was excellent and my husband enjoyed the crumbed fish. Staff were friendly and helpful and I will definitely return soon.

Went to Catch as Hook was closed. The portions were small, the price sky high, but the fish was nice. Prefer Hook for both quality, quantity and price.

Gone downhill massively. Very expensive, small portions, greasy food. Won’t be back.

The food is delicious but I had to wait over an hour after the delivery slot and they delivered an incomplete order and no salt and vinegar even though I specifically requested it. I had to call and chase it three times. Hugely disappointing. Don't order through their website on a Saturday night.... I should have gone to pick it up. What a waste of money. I'm a very unhappy customer.

Similar to our experience in Catch West End, our visit to the Giffnock branch was wonderful. Excellent food and delicious food. The tempura prawn was amazing, and the battered chips, wow! It's no doubt my favourite fish and chips restaurant in Scotland.

Will never buy from this chippy again....whilst 3staff members chatted as i waited in front of them ordered then 20mins later gets the wrong order, ordered breaded got battered and still got charged for it, the food doesn't equate for the cost and wasn't great got half box chips with the fish supper and a threat of salt n vinegar the fish was halfed wasn't even a whole one pure rip off merchants....catch and certainly let go....

First time going here, for takeaway. Fish was tasty enough but portion sizes are verging on insulting. Chips were about a third of what would be expected, curry sauce and peas (£1.95 each) were served in something resembling a 50ml shot glass. You have clearly forgotten the essence of what Fish and Chips is supposed to be about in this country. I won't be returning.

Possibly the last time we order from here. 2 Fish suppers and 1 portion of mushy peas; £27.55. Didn't mind paying a bit extra because quality was always good, but the increased price and cold chips mean it's no longer worth it.

Food was mediocre at best, was disappointed as this was meant to be a nice place to visit according to reviews. Maybe we had a bad day for the staff as the service wasn't the best at all, had to wait 30 minutes before I decided to hunt someone down to ask for my child's ice cream. Found all staff behind the counter standing on their phones while we sat there waiting to be served. Bit over priced for what you get, I think I paid about £9 for a couple bits of tempura chicken. Don't get me wrong these were really nice but the rest of the food wasn't any better than a local chippy at half the price. Probably wouldn't visit again.

Was nice enough but the "large" fish and chips wasn't that large and cost over 12 quid.

£4.00 pound for a roll n chips bit pricey for a chip roll

I get it prices have risen but why reduce portion sizes and hike the prices up. Skinning the consumer that's why. Not worth it whatsoever. Response - I can confirm the portions I got were 100% smaller than before. The box was the regular box classed as large.

This place has gone downhill in the past 6 or so months. Our family have been a loyal customer for four years now and the last time we dined in (about 6 months ago), they served us frozen fish (confirmed by the waitress) but charged us for fresh. On this occasion, we thought we'd try it one more time and got a take out. The fish was better than last time but the chips - which are supposed to be twice cooked - were anaemic and tasted of earth/dirt. I called to feed this back only to be told by the manager that they had changed their potato supplier to a cheaper option and that this was "a sign of the times". The manager told me they could not refund me for the chips, so I asked to speak with the owner. I was then told that the owner only comes in once per week and when I requested a telephone call from the owner, the manager said it was too late at 6:10pm to contact him because of "boundaries". Eventually she said she would text him; I am therefore now awaiting a response. I am very unhappy with both the food and the service. 3 x small fish and chips for £37.35 is extortionate, therefore I would expect it to be good quality and for my complaint to be treated respectfully. As Catch failed on both accounts, we will not be returning and I we will spend our hard-earned cash elsewhere.

Food wise this place is excellent. What a shame that they have hiked their prices and reduced portion size ridiculously. I get the credit crunch it hitting hard but one or the other guys. No ripping the customer off

The food was very good. I had Haddock and chips with mushy peas. My partner had lemon sole goujons. The fish was very well cooked, lovey, and cruspy batter. Staff were all very nice and the food came out nice and quick. Will definitely be back even if it's just to get a carryout

Sat inside to have food. Good sized portions to good food. Fish & chips were cooked to perfection. I tried the lobster which was also lovely. Great value for what you get. Would definitely go back again. Would highly recommend as a nice change to just going to the chippy
