Well I never……the chips as seen in pic were dry, overcooked, dark and shrivelled up. Been here frequently and I think this is the worst set of chips I’ve had. BUT……fritters and pizza were awesome!

Not the chippy it once was. Dropped in for a fish supper and a chicken supper. " We don't do chicken" I was amazed to hear. In fact the young girl on the counter appeared not to understand what I was asking for. Oh dear, and to think once upon a time, with Susan L at the helm this place almost won top chippy in Scotland. How the mighty have fallen. Sadly, in future, I will drive on past . I suggest you do too.

The battery was too thick and hard, the fish didn't smell right and 60p for a pickled onion as well as a 20p charge for a paper bag...I'm not rushing back!

Stopped on our way home on Saturday night after shopping and won't be back in a hurry! My wife and granddaughter ordered a large chips while I ordered steak pie supper, and had to wait about 15 mins. Roughly came to about £12 or so when we got home the chips were lukewarm at best and my steak pie was dried out and been put in the fryer far too long as the pastry was dark dark brown. Don't know who was in charge as the staff all looked like teenagers and no one there looked in authority. I only gave this chip shop a good review about 7 months ago and now in such a short time it's went downhill rapidly.

I visited the Land and Sea for the first time since all the Covid restrictions kicked in. As a rule in general, it's not my first port of call for a chip shop. Nothing to do with the quality of food, as it's actually not too bad. No it's all to do with the long standing over zealous behaviour, from their staff who try to squeeze every last penny out of you after you've already placed an order! Indeed it's quite belittling when you're asked in front of 20 other people, do you want drinks, buttered roll and a bag etc and then they can't get your money in their till quick enough, even all though you might be waiting another 15 minutes on your order. They are obviously told to do this as they all behave the same and to be honest, I find it over the top and very off-putting.On placing my first covid order with them, I wasn't asked whether I wanted a bag, but on collecting my takeaway, it was in a brown paper bag, which on the receipt they have charged 12p for? Nothing to do with the 12p charge, but this behaviour is absolutely scraping the barrel. There are plenty of other takeaways within the area who are happy to receive custom during these covid times and who are not forcing or charging for bags. Needless to say, that's where I will revert back to!

Im so disappointed. My favourite chippy has gone down the pan. My husband had to actually say to the girl serving last night “I didnt ask for a half portion its a fish supper” as she put 1 small scoop of chips on...he got more after that but deffo not enough chips on any of our meals. You shouldnt have to comment or watch the server! For £17 I want to feel full. I didnt. Frankie & Bennys it is!

Although they have stopped doing a gluten-free only Saturday once a month, you can get g/f fish and chips here any evening. You have to wait a few minutes as they are cooked to order but they are hot, crispy and absolutely delicious. We really look forward to an occasional treat here.
