La Gondola Fish and Chips in Falkirk

Ordered pizzas. Smelled ok when taking them to the office in the car but everyone who ate it said they were stinking, chewy and tasteless. Total let down. No excuse for pizzas that bad, just a lack of interest, passion or good ingredients.

I think the fish would have had a better flavour if it'd swum through the oil from ineos in the forth. There was no taste, so much oil - I had a mouthful or two and just put it all in the bin. Wtf animal did the king rib come from? It was so greasy I may as well just drunk a bottle of oil. La gondola? La crap!

I ordered fish and chips, cheese and chips and single sausage to take away. I should have realised when the shop was empty and the single piece of fish in the cabinet which looked pale this might not be the best. I live 2 mins away and on arriving home the cheese hadn’t melted on the chips as they were cold. My fish batter was under cooked and my chips were also cold. On the bright side the dogs enjoyed the sausage. I called to complain and spoke with the manager who asked me to return to the shop with the food as I had requested a refund. I explained I had already binned the food however he insisted that as he had had similar calls I would need to take the food back. I obliged and picked what I could out the bin along with anything that had stuck to it as well. The manager examined the food and stated the cheese had melted , I explained we microwaved the cheese and chips in an attempt to make it edible, he also queried how only half my original meal was there , I explained I could only pick out what I could from the bin. He was deeply upset and his attitude shocking when dealing with a complaint “listen pal my fish is freshly prepared” I was told , despite mine lying in the cabinet when I went in. “Well your no getting all your money you ate some of it and the sausages were okay”. I was reluctantly given £10 back of my £13 spend. It was the most unpleasant experience dealing with manager and the food was a complete disaster. Hopefully they can learn and deal more professionally with complaints in future. However I certainly wouldn’t recommend this chip shop.

I have used this place over the years as I am local, to be fair it’s a hit or a miss, more recently I have used this for the buying of Donna kebabs, easier to keep warmer and less chance of spoilage when being delivered. Although expensive, they are generally very tasty, great portion size. I have though, on numerous occasions not been given what i have ordered, ie; asking for sauce and salad separate, and when, on arrival, the sauce and salad are on the kebab! it’s not nice to have limp and soggy salad and the pitta bread looking and tasting like cardboard!! My last delivery order was in October of last year, and it’s fair to say it was absolutely disgusting, I never called back, as I have in the past and felt the victim in complaining about not getting what I ordered, so I wasn’t waiting for another delivery, and didn’t know if I would get one anyway? Last night I went in personally and spoke to whom I think was the Manager/owner and explained about my last delivery, the lady was pleasant and very customer service focussed, and although it was explained to me that they did have a bad batch of kebab meat around that time, surely it shouldn’t have been passed on to the customer? I also didn’t need a worker in the background barracking me that I wouldn’t get a bad kebab here, well sadly your wrong I did, remember,when dealing with the paying public “they are the customer, and should be treated as such” suffice to say, the meal I got was good, my point here is, there should be more consistent checks before dispatch, and perhaps employee’s given training on customer service, as sometimes you feel your not welcome, when phoning for a delivery or visiting in person, surely the nature of a business is to make money, retain customers and give value for money, sadly for me the last two comments don’t hold here with this place, I would expect no further comment from this business on my review, but would be happy to hear them, will I be back, well, we’ll see if there is feedback given from this review?

Use regularly for home delivery. Friendly efficient staff and great choice of food. Massive portions!

Popped in for tea after work for the first time. It’s not a bad little place and the food was okay. Staff were lovely and pleasant. Run of the mill chippy.

Phoned for 2 fish suppers. We live in grangemouth, also phoned for Chinese from falkirk. The Chinese arrived an hour before fish suppers from la gondola one mile away. Kept phoning to ask where they were, they said they were busy, so is everyone on a Saturday night. The fish suppers were horrible. Soggy, cold and the batter was strange. Felt embarrassed giving them to visitors to grangemouth. Not a patch on land and sea.

I always pass by on occassion for chips cheese & curry sauce. Staff are always freindly to chat too. They have a wee seating area you can have your meal and look out the window. I have been going here for years.

fish is best in grangemouth and falkirk of all time and the world i love fish and pizza and much more best food of all time and the staff is amazing i go every saturday that way i all ways go for more good food

I was surprised to see a sweet shop selling kebabs, pizza and fish and chips. I found the chips greasy and expensive. The kebabs were the dearest I've seen at £6 for a doner. On top of that every time I've had a kebab I've been asked if I want chilly sauce but here they sell it at 70p so a doner with chilli sauce works out at £6.70. They do a munchies box with a bit of every thing in it which wasn't bad value at £10.

Para ser honesto, esto "fish and chips" es el mejor de un mal grupo en Grangemouth, pero he notado que en los últimos años esto ha chippy ha ido cuesta abajo las patatas fritas son sin sabor y todo es tan grasienta. Su pedido generalmente se hace cuando vas en lo que significa una larga espera, pero no sé si estar directamente desde la freidora a la caja es por qué, en vez de en el escurridor siendo tibia. Las cajas de poliestireno que utilizan porque la comida está muy caliente cuando va en el tiempo llegar a casa hay mucho de condensación en la caja la bateadores todos empapados. Que siempre está lleno, así que deben estar haciendo algo bien, pero no creo que volveré.

Como algunos de los cafés en el centro de la ciudad este patrimonio italiano y tiene chippie puede decirle en la calidad de la comida y el servicio. En el distrito centro de la ciudad es "debe grangemouth visitar sitio visitar Kelpies" (5 minutos en auto). La primera impresión no deja traslucir la calidad con el encanto del viejo como del viejo mundo de una ciudad de veces mejor, pero la calidad de la familia de empresas propiedad de brillar a través chippe como este y que sea un sitio "diferentes edificios "visitar en vez de el reluciente cara" comerciales. Ver más allá de los edificios resquebrajándose y quedará gratamente sorprendido de la calidad sirve comidas y bebidas que se sirven aquí. Si fue en el extranjero los autobuses tour sin duda hacen una parada. Nota: el aparcamiento centro es GRATIS

Gran pizza si su recolección pero no entrega en 10 aunque dicen deliverys puede pedir hasta 800 10. . El personal es muy grosero en el telefono y si no es una pizza el resto de sus cosas es demasiado con grasa. Evitar si se puede

En cuanto a tiendas, este es un chip muy decente. Puede que tenga que esperar unos minutos mientras espera en ser cosas cocinadas pero sabes su monturas frescas. Sólo desearía que hecho ollas de salsa como salsa de curry no todo el mundo quiere. Ten cuidado con la tienda de dulces en el otro extremo de la tienda, puedes gastar una pequeña fortuna.

Went there on way home staff not friendly too busy chatting amongst themselves and the meal was barely hot won't be back

Might have a wee wait but its worth it, everything fresh and hot. The chips are the best in the area and the batter is crispy and perfect. Won't go anywhere else now.

Fish and chips to die for and melt in the mouth veggie piazza. Delivered 20 mins after ordering by phone. Reasonably priced, well wrapped and toastie hot, freshly prepared and delivered to your door. What more could you ask for. Highly recommend this establishment.

Este es el mejor "fish and chips" que hemos estado en mucho tiempo. No he dejado de cantar sus alabanzas. Es difícil encontrar buena calidad chippies. ¡Bien hecho!

Good classic fish and chips and usually served quickly but can take a while on busy evenings. Good selection of sweets too.

A great local chippie, consistently good with friendly staff. Wide range of food available. Special fish a highlight.

I've visited this takeaway several times over the years whilst working in Grangemouth. I've never been disappointed with the food, the staff are all very friendly.

They serve a great variety of food here but my favourite is the special fish supper. You have to wait for it to be cooked fresh but its well worth the wait!

Fantastic choice of freshly fried food. All freshly made, hot and not at all greasy. Also have an excellent selection of sweeties

Visited on a quiet Tuesday night and only wanted a few bags of chips. Had to wait on them getting ready but they werent very good. Some bad ones and they tasted like the fat needed changed .

Excellent quality fish and chips most things on the menu are of high standard will cooked not greasy normally delivery is within 45 minutes however on the last request for delivery waited an hour and a half eventually phoned and cancelled order and ended up ordering from the local 4 in 1 has no explanation could be given for the lengthy wait or about where our order was

Went here for donner wraps and bag of chips,well all I can say is the donner wrap was massive,loads of kebab meat salad and sauce.i have tried many kebab shops and this chip shops sells the best kind of kebab.will use this from now on.tasty

Got a carry out the other night. First for a long number of years, & won't ever be going back. Fish batter, soggy! Fish totally dry!! Chips binned, as not crispy & soggy too.

Simply the best chippy around! Great service, fantastic freshly cooked food and a lovely selection of sweets old and new too.

Estuvimos un verano en Figueira y de casualidad encontramos este restaurante con un menú diario muy económico. Nos gustó tanto que nos hicimos asiduos e incluso fuimos algún día que no había menú. La comida estaba buena y el servicio muy correcto. Es cierto que es un sitio con poca iluminación pero como íbamos en pareja nos encantó porque nos pareció muy intimo.

Kebab meat and chilli sauce is so good!! Very spicy though. All food cooked fresh and tasty. Seen someone being screamed at for not doing their job correctly, I was trying so hard not to say something. Terrible managerial attitude to have. Infront of customers even worse!! Learn how to treat staff with respect.

Good family run traditional chip shop, excellent fish and chips and pleasant staff one of the few businesses left that have been loyal to the local community

This used to be an award winning chippie but recently standards of food and service have been slipping to the extent that my husband will now no longer eat anything from there except the pizza because it is freshly cooked in front of him. They don't change the oil in their fryers often enough, food is left under the heat lamps for too long and batter tends to be soggy. However the pizzas are ace and the wee guy who makes them has great customer service skills. The rest of the staff are average, and they occasionally berate their staff in front of customers, which I feel is quite unprofessional.

Only been here a lunchtime but always worth a visit. Due to the later time I've always been given more than I asked for, or needed! On one visit I bought and paid for one steak pie but was given two. Same with king ribs in the past. Seriously though the normal portions are more than satisfactory and it is worth trying

Excellent freshly cooked fish n chips while I waited. I got 2 fish and 1 chips which was more than plenty for 2 people, loved the the brown sauce on the chips.

Best fish and chip shop in grangemouth it is so wonderful food the home mand pizza is so good hotdog and chip pizza the best in the shop and king rib smashing and fish is so rich the staff is so will wonderful and help full and kind to me and pal Robert and me David we will be back next week bud take care have nice game of golf on Sunday

We ate at La Gondola just before we visited Kelpies. It is in Grangemouth shopping street and if you are staying in Helix Hotel you can go to the place in a minute. The staff is quite helpful. They have every type of fast food from hamburgers to minced pies from pizzas to doner and of course delicious chips. We did not try the sweets but they look mouth-watering also. The prices are quite affordable.

You cant go wrong at La Gondola tried a variety of food here & its always well cooked & piping hot,worth a visit you wont be dissapointed.

Great chippy. Had my lunch out of here many times. Friendly service and great food. You can also sit while you wait for your order.
