We all had Fish N Chips. The fish was undercooked for everyone and smelled strong of fish not good. Forget about crispy batter this batter was greesy and falling of the fish. The chips were bland I know just are just chips but these were not even average. Just super bland. Despite asking for extra salt and vinegar couldn't taste either nobody could out the three of us. All three of us agreed this was the worst fish n chip we have had period. Won't be back not even if it was free that bad. I had about 4 chips and little of fish and binned the rest as did everyone else. They have lost their way if they have 3.5 stars from the past. This was an awful experience standards please.

Le Gondola king rib and chips was a reheat Wasn’t good the batter and meet was so Dry my stomach is not very good. I hope it’s not food poison it has went downhill quite fast the last few weeks for sitting in or Home delivery is the some I will not be back for a few weeks till it improves

Friendly and speedy service 😄 I had a fish supper. Can tell they look after their oil as the chips were a nice colour, the batter on the fish was crispy with no excess oil. Overall cleanliness was tip top. Can tell it’s a happy functioning team in La Gondola! I’m glad I came here to cure my long felt craving for fish and chips 🤩👏🏻

An update about my missed delivery on February 2024, I visited here in person and was certainly not disappointed. The interior of the shop is brand new, staff are same which is good. Food was delicious and great value for money, I've never had a problem with the food here as for example the hogie here is larger than any other take away in Falkirk and better. Pizzas are good, the main reason I visit a fish and chip shop is to sample the food coming out the fryer, and no complaints there what so ever. I have worked previously as a chef, and even worked in a chip shop, it may not seem like rocket since but if its busy you still need a good memory and good timings, and the ability to no when the food is ready not over cooked, under cooked or reheated. And this place really nos exactly what they are doing. Other fish and chip shops should follow the blue print. Only reason I can think there was a issue in my previous review is cause there is no adequate lighting in the block of flats close I live making my door number more or less invisible in the dark, it has happened before with a delivery or another reason out with the buisnessres hands. Cause from what I can gather they have been in Grangemouth years, i think it was probably a 1 off, and I'll definitely be back, but I will walk up and buy and walk home through Zetland park and no doubt won't be able to resist delving in to my food.

Went in once bought a Donner hogie and was amazed at the size and quality for the price. So other night I ordered a king rib supper and juice delivered but it never showed, luckily I never paid by card and was going to pay cash at the door. I was in all night waiting, not sure what the problem was, but I won't be ordering a delivery from here again for sure. I might pop in if I'm starving for a bag of chips but I refuse to spend my cash at a takeaway delivery service that leaves people with no evening meal.

Bought chips and cheese from this place tonight. £4.80 which is fine but the owner seemed to be moaning about orders or staff not sure, the atmosphere was not friendly. Reading other reviews it seems like a common theme, the owners are rude and ignorant. When I sat in car looking forward to eat my chips and cheese, the cheese was at the bottom and chips at the top.... Never has this been the case. The cheese always melts on top of chips, but not here. The chips were rank. Very greasy and undercooked. 60 percent went in the bin. Overall very poor food and definitely be the last time I get anything here

Went in for a carry out single special fish 🐟 £6.90 & to me it looks like fish done in batter & in bread crumbs BUT as u can see the 🍞 crumbs look gie ruff - like RUFFCAST & i hope they use a smother/finer bread crumbs on their fish. I went in again - to SIT IN this time Monday 4th December 2023 after 2pm & only a ✋ full of diner's were in. Nice clean & bright restaurant & hadn't long to wait on my £11 small SPECIAL 🐟 T & i choose coffee ☕ with it & it tasted not too bad. The breadcrumbs on my fish this time were much better BUT as u can see with some of the chips that i left, they looked like last night's reheats. Now if u want to leave a completely clean plate pop into Moscardinies on Manor st. Falkirk & see the difference. Some of the staff in there talk loud & it's funny 😂 to hear them.

I ordered two kebabs today, the meat was really weird, the wrap was hard and old. It wasn’t even wrapped properly and was falling to bits. Salad looked brown and it had huge pieces of onion. Price was ok? I definitely had kebabs that were cheaper and better somewhere else. The staff looked like they had no idea what they’re doing if I wouldnt correct the lady at the counter 3 times she would’ve gave me the wrong order.After they moved to new premises this place is looking definitely more welcoming and clean than before, but don’t let it fool you. Not worth the money.

We decided to have a La Gondola Chippy tea after a long hard day at work. Monday 21st August at 7.20pm ( see receipt attached) . Note, I am writing this at 8pm on the same night (see attached screenshot) The new shop looked great in La Port Precinct Grangemouth and we decided to buy Fish and Chips and a King Rib Supper. It was not cheap by any means at £15.80 for the two meals. I cannot believe how bad these meals were, Chips were raw inside, the fish was tiny and as flat as a flounder, the fish batter was mushy and very undercooked ( I just wish that this review could add video content, because I have a belter of a video) and lastly, I think the King Rib was cooked three days ago as I am currently considering using it as a doorstop. Ive chewed softer Biltong. This Chippy used to be the best in the area. Something bad has happened since the relocation because the standard was horrific, food is now in the bin ( dog got fish, “ not the slimy batter”) , and we will not be returning. So bad. I would have gave zero stars if I could have. It’s a shame really!!

WORST CHIPPY EVER… I came in with my two kids and immediately got a whiff of a pungent dirty smell. The floors were horrifically dirty and looked like they haven’t been mopped in weeks. I ordered a fish supper for myself, two kids sausage suppers and some wee juices for me and my wains and when I got up to the counter the man who was on the chips started shouting at the young lassies on the till! In my time I have never seen a boss, somebody who should be a role model and always treat staff with respect talk to young lassies like that. I certainly will not be returning and I do not recommend anybody who wants half decent food and basic respect visits La Gondala.

Far to expensive £9.70 for fish supper can get the same portion 1 piece of fish elsewhere in a small supper for almost half the price and better am afraid best of £20 for that n a sausage supper

Not sure who the guy is that cooks the chips but his attitude is off the scale rude The manner in which he spoke to myself was astounding I asked if they can do the chickens in batter His reply Do you see it on the menu? Don't order unless Grangemouth as easily waiting over 2 hours for food. Waste of time. Need to train employees correctly-unfortunately won't be back.

Ordered a variety of suppers for three adults and two kids. Would have been better to just put my cash in the bin as that was where the food went. The chips were full of black eyes, and discoloured, they were dry and tasteless. The steak pie had obviously been leftover from earlier in the day and the other portions were not much better. Standards are well down best drive up to Falkirk or order a Chinese

Just paid 30.80 for 2 fish suppers black pudding supper and king rib supper the chips were just cooked still slightly hard in the middle fish and pudding batter was like rubber and the king rib had a bad taste to it but the dog loved it 😀 I will not be back there again disgusting

I’ve used this place for a while now just in a Friday for lunch as i don’t live in the area & I would say it’s went down hill. Food is either half cooked or looks like it’s been sitting for a week. The chips a had today were rotten! I’ve always thought it was expensive but actually checked today & compared to where i live their suppers are £2 more than a really good chippy back home. £2 sorry your food certainly doesn’t justify that! And would it really kill ur staff to smile if ur that miserable working in a chippy find somewhere else. Folk want a happy face wen they are getting their treat. Just got a supper from here never again chips were reheats ended up in the bin, almost broke my teeth eating them. Shocking to charge full price for that rubbish, at least tell the customer that they are reheated chip so they can make the choice if they want a dentist bull.

Lies, aggression and worst service ever. Was told no delivery service available. Despite specifically asking for food to be ready as we were in a hurry (and being told it would be) for the third time running pizza not in the oven when we arrived to collect. Then when I ask why pizza wasn't already in the oven cheeky chap proceeded to tell me that this was how they did things and that they were busy ( no one else in the shop!) He also accussed me of having attitude!! My family and I been going to this chippy for over 20 years - always ysed to be so friendly ..... cannot ever go back to that attitude (which cost them £40 as I cancelled my order).

Food was ok. Chips were a bit on the darker side. Main complaint is the way the staff are spoken to in front of customers. There is a time and place to reprimand staff and in front of customers is not one.

Lovely staff but the batter mix used here is simply not fit for purpose. Once cooked it resembles a soggy thick squidgy mess. If you're looking for that signature crispy chippy crunch I'd recommend going elsewhere. I suppose the red flag is this establishment also sells cigarettes, kebabs, pizza's, pick and mix etc. Given the lack of quality this gives me the impression the owners are just looking to make as much money they can get their greedy hands on. There's clearly no passion here, they're not interested in cooking good food in the slightest.

Best chippy in Grangemouth and can be very busy which tells you the locals like it! Hear they are moving premises to a larger unit in la Porte precinct which will allow you to sit down and have a meal.

I recently ordered a fish supper which was one of the worst I've ever had. The fish was slimy, discoloured and had an ammonia smell, and the batter was mushy. The chips were tasteless and undercooked. The mushy peas were done in the microwave. As I was waiting for my food I watched as the staff messed around behind the counter, putting more frozen fish in to fry. I would've taken it back had I lived closer, but having looked at the replies to some of these reviews I think it would've been a wasted effort regardless. They're a couple of quid cheaper than the Land and Sea and Benny T, but you get what you pay for with them as the food is always good quality and cooked well. This place is overpriced and a low standard, save your money.

Unfortunately have to give 1 star to write a review. Avoid this place, the food is below par and they charge a fortune. Not only that 9 times out of 10 the order arrives wrong. Thought we would give them another chance and it was yet again wrong. Asked for a child's smoked sausage with no salt or sauce and a pizza with not too much cheese on, order arrives the pizza was leaden with cheese and my sons dinner drowned in brown sauce! Now have an upset and hungry 6 y.o. Will not be ordering from them again, complete waste of money in my opinion.

£8.50 for steak pie supper and single smoked sausage. Very small portion of chips with the supper, more thin crispy bits than chips. Greasy lips after I ate it. Overall I thought it was overpriced and not great food. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Really good doner kebab. Friendly staff and have a contactless card reader. Food is OK priced, maybe slightly on the expensive side but tastes good so its worth it.

I think the fish would have had a better flavour if it'd swum through the oil from ineos in the forth. There was no taste, so much oil - I had a mouthful or two and just put it all in the bin. Wtf animal did the king rib come from? It was so greasy I may as well just drunk a bottle of oil. La gondola? La crap!

Don’t dare complain. If you do you are questioned and berated. There is no customer service and your complaint will be questioned as if you are the one in the wrong. My food was substandard and when I called to complain I was asked to bring it back. Unlike a previous review when an order was mixed up there was an apology and an offer of refund as they may have overpaid. I had no such luck the manager asked me to bring the food back as he had dealt with complaints this before and he needed proof. I explained ( like other reviews on here) I had binned the food, however I was made to feel like I was in a scam of some sort. I duly picked out what I could from the bin and returned it. I was questioned why all the meal wasn’t there. I had to eat some to discover it was sub standard and couldn’t retrieve all the remains from the bin. The managers attitude wasn’t very apologetic he only seemed to want to argue with me in front of the staff. I have used the shop previously and this is the first time I’ve complained however some training with customers and simple conflict and good manners wouldn’t go wrong. I certainly ( once again like other review) won’t be back . Extremely poor reaction by the manager who offer me £10 because I had eaten some of the food. Shame it used to be okay.

I ordered fish and chips, cheese and chips and single sausage to take away. I should have realised when the shop was empty and the single piece of fish in the cabinet which looked pale this might not be the best. I live 2 mins away and on arriving home the cheese hadn’t melted on the chips as they were cold. My fish batter was under cooked and my chips were also cold. On the bright side the dogs enjoyed the sausage. I called to complain and spoke with the manager who asked me to return to the shop with the food as I had requested a refund. I explained I had already binned the food however he insisted that as he had had similar calls I would need to take the food back. I obliged and picked what I could out the bin along with anything that had stuck to it as well. The manager examined the food and stated the cheese had melted , I explained we microwaved the cheese and chips in an attempt to make it edible, he also queried how only half my original meal was there , I explained I could only pick out what I could from the bin. He was deeply upset and his attitude shocking when dealing with a complaint “listen pal my fish is freshly prepared” I was told , despite mine lying in the cabinet when I went in. “Well your no getting all your money you ate some of it and the sausages were okay”. I was reluctantly given £10 back of my £13 spend. It was the most unpleasant experience dealing with manager and the food was a complete disaster. Hopefully they can learn and deal more professionally with complaints in future. However I certainly wouldn’t recommend this chip shop.

Nice family run business good fresh food

I have used this place over the years as I am local, to be fair it’s a hit or a miss, more recently I have used this for the buying of Donna kebabs, easier to keep warmer and less chance of spoilage when being delivered. Although expensive, they are generally very tasty, great portion size. I have though, on numerous occasions not been given what i have ordered, ie; asking for sauce and salad separate, and when, on arrival, the sauce and salad are on the kebab! it’s not nice to have limp and soggy salad and the pitta bread looking and tasting like cardboard!! My last delivery order was in October of last year, and it’s fair to say it was absolutely disgusting, I never called back, as I have in the past and felt the victim in complaining about not getting what I ordered, so I wasn’t waiting for another delivery, and didn’t know if I would get one anyway? Last night I went in personally and spoke to whom I think was the Manager/owner and explained about my last delivery, the lady was pleasant and very customer service focussed, and although it was explained to me that they did have a bad batch of kebab meat around that time, surely it shouldn’t have been passed on to the customer? I also didn’t need a worker in the background barracking me that I wouldn’t get a bad kebab here, well sadly your wrong I did, remember,when dealing with the paying public “they are the customer, and should be treated as such” suffice to say, the meal I got was good, my point here is, there should be more consistent checks before dispatch, and perhaps employee’s given training on customer service, as sometimes you feel your not welcome, when phoning for a delivery or visiting in person, surely the nature of a business is to make money, retain customers and give value for money, sadly for me the last two comments don’t hold here with this place, I would expect no further comment from this business on my review, but would be happy to hear them, will I be back, well, we’ll see if there is feedback given from this review?

Food expensive, only one piece of fish in the supper, some of order missing, not impressed and won't go back anytime soon. Just tried the food and worst chip shop food ever and that was 5 different things we had. Batter like rubber and chips were blah!

Breaded haddock was very good but chips were not crisp and a touch soggy. Be careful to not be underchanged, had to query only getting change of £1.50 from a £10 note. Tiny plastic fork is less than adequate for fish.
