Don’t come if you have any kind of schedule to keep to. Waited 5 minutes to be seated while we watched staff chatting 10 feet from us. Took 35 minutes for an order of 3 coffees and 2 scones to arrive after sitting on a counter for 5 minutes getting cold as wait staff basically wandering around in a dwam and in no hurry to do much of anything. Pretty brutal experience.

We headed here while out in Falkirk and the service was terrible. The restaurant wasn’t very busy and we ordered via a QR code as recommended on the table. We ordered x2 waters, a baked potato with cheese and beans and a coronation chicken baguette. This took over 30 minutes to come and people who had ordered after us around us received before. We then asked how long our food would be and we were told they were short staffed, which I struggle to understand why this is a customer problem. Our food arrived with no apologies for the lateness to find out the baked potato has no cheese so this had to be sent back to be added on. Had a similar experience a few years ago so wanted to give it another chance. Well they aren’t getting another one. Don’t waste your money here!

Usually enjoy my trips to this restaurant, but today’s experience was very poor. Ordered the cauliflower and chickpea samosa, but what arrived resembled a Gregg’s pasty. Filling was grey, gelatinous and tasteless. Chips had clearly been made several hours previously and been kept hot. At the prices being charged, I would expect better.

My favourite thing about the Topiary is that, unlike so many places, they haven't crammed in as many tables as possible. This, along with the big windows, gives it a light, airy atmosphere. You're not holding a conversation six inches away from the next table. The food was good, we all cleared our plates. I had the jacket potato with pulled pork and cheese, which I would highly recommend.

12 months on, and a friend and I returned to this busy, popular restaurant. There were visible improvements on 2023.The restaurant was warm and comfortable and our waitress, Demi, so very attentive, smart, chatty and helpful.Unlike last time there were professional detailed menus on every table. There was a much larger choice of courses. We had a main ie fish and chips and steak and chips;Jam sponge with custard, cokes and large lattes. This came to a very reasonable £24.At no time are you chivied, which adds to the relaxation. The toilets are spotlessly clean, the garden centre fascinating and a large car park is adjacent.

Went yesterday with my husband, wish I hadn't bothered. I had a buy on get one free gardners breakfast voucher that was going to expire yesterday. The breakfast consisted of 1 old slice of toast 1 dried up folded bacon rasher, 1 link sausage cooked to a frazzle burned on one side, scrambled egg luke warm, and luke warm beans. I thought it came with tea or coffee? No, it was another £4.50 ish on top. Total £10.65. If it hadn't been for the lovely young boy who served us I would have asked to speak to the manager. I could see the waiting staff were run off their feet. I noticed the person at the next table ordered french toast with bacon. I couldn't believe my eyes! 2 old looking slices toast with 1 shrivelled up slice of bacon and a recycled tiny jam pot with syrup. The hot drinks are so expensive. The regular coffee is like a small old fashioned teacup , hardly any coffee and lots of froth. 2 cups of tea from the pot. I eat out very regularly but I think I'll skip the breakfast at klondyke. As I said before the young man who served us was so friendly. I'm sorry I didn't get his name. I'm mad I didn't take photos of the offering.

This place is still really hit or miss. I talked my husband into a visit, as I'd had a nice lunch here with a friend a couple of months ago, and I thought they had finally managed to sort themselves out. As we sat down, we were asked if we wanted drinks and I said that yes, we'd have a tea and coffee and I'd use my free ones. We were left with menus and our drinks arrived. We ordered sandwiches with the cup of soup. Bit pricey for what it is tbh. It was advertised as being bloomer bread. Mine was NOT, I got square sliced bog standard brown out of a bag! Wasn't even nice granary stuff, just the sort of cheap nasty stuff I'd never in a million years buy. I mentioned it to the waitress and she wasn't interested. Nor in the fact that that they had used grated cheese, so when I picked up my 2 slices of cardboard (with the 1 inch square buttered bit inside), all the cheese promptly fell out. The salad on the side was crunchy and fresh. The soup WAS a tea cup full btw. I got the mushroom and it was tasty but a tad on the diminutive size. My husband got the ham and lentil and it was good, but luke warm. At least he got bloomer bread. The waitress then proceeded to charge me for my free drinks, and I had to go to the till to get my money back. NO apology was forthcoming. Honestly, for the amount of money they are charging, they need to get it right

Disappointed for the second time Server looked miserable and wasn’t happy when we asked to sit at a different table from the one offered due to my partner’s disability. Ordered 2 items off the specials board … gingerbread latte which showed on the picture with little gingerbread man (which is only for the picture apparently) and a cheese and ham croissant Also a normal latte and a toasted tea cake … the croissant came and was literally a microwaved croissant with melted cheese and a wee bit ham and the toasted tea cake was like a clay pigeon disc … the food came and we waited and waited and waited then asked the server to take the food back and keep it warm till our drinks arrived she told us drinks were just coming so we would need her to we waited another 10 mins before drinks arrived by which time food was cold … waste of money

Just been in for breakfast today .waitress not happy we asked to be seated at one of the many empty booths. One of the breakfasts was cold and its replacement was returned as was cold too. Bacon in another had cooled down. Attitude of management when we went to pay was dismissive and no apology from her or waitress. Maybe poor customer service and cold food explains why place was so empty. Wished we read reviews before we went.

Ok but still not being particularly well run and staff just seem fed up in general. Spoke to one who said they are just used to complaints about service and food and just roll with it. It could be a real goldmine if it was run properly but still seems to have the same issues as it did a year ago. Food was cold in the middle and had to go back to be reheated. Shame but they seem to have constant issues with staffing and therefore customer satisfaction.

Poor quality totally overpriced toasty. £8.95 for 2 very dry slices of thick bread with pretty much no tuna inside. Overcooked and burned around the crusts to the extent that I couldn’t cut or bite through it. Dried curly edged bits of lettuce served with it. This was terrible and very overpriced. How can anyone charge 8.95 for a toasty? The scones looked terrible and huge and a woman beside me said she couldn’t eat it because it was so dry and one tiny bit of butter to put on it! No wonder the place was virtually empty at 12.30! I can’t imagine anyone would visit here twice. I only went to get something to eat before going to a work meeting in Grangemouth.

Since the expansion the cafe has deteriorated but today was dreadful. Counter service section had a queue and cakes all looked very ‘tired’ so went to seated area. Had to wait ages to be served, only got attention of waiter by shouting to him. Order came reasonably quickly but without jam. Waited and waited. Asked 3 separate waiting staff before was finally delivered. Thank goodness as without it scone would have been inedible. Looked okay but rock hard on outside, dry and tasteless. As if a vital ingredient missing. Will not be back.

Had a voucher for the "two for one" cream tea offer. Very disappointing cream tea. Very average scone (still debating with my wife whether it actually was a scone or not - she is giving it the benefit of the doubt). Cream to "jam" ratio was way out. Far too little "jam". And I would be surprised if the "jam" had ever seen a strawberry. Because it was the offer we felt we got what we paid for but if we had paid the full price we would have been very unhappy. Klondyke should look to competitor garden centres to see how to do a cream tea offer properly.

Very nice bright space with good menu and freindly staff. Separate coffee shop is a good idea but seems to be regularly unmanned, which defeats the purpose. Ordering is slow - there seems to be little system in place. I had to ask to order even though there were several members of staff wandering about somewhat aimlessly. This despite having been shown to a table by a waitress who for some reason, could not take my order of just coffee and a scone. Klondyke Garden Centre has recently had a massive redesign and extension. There is now a coffee shop and a larger restaurants (not in the same location as the previous cafe). Both are great! We ate in the restaurant on the opening day and it was pretty glitch free. We ordered on the App (slight disconnect in the time the food arrived at the table as we put in seperate orders but with the same table number therefore thought they would come at the same time but they didn't). The food was really good, a bit more expensive than I expected but it was still good. Would be good to see simpler things on the menu and a better kids menu as my kids have struggled with the kids options a few times now.Its definitely an improvement on what it was and I am keen to return to eat in the restaurant and in the coffee shop.

Our server was very polite and knowledgable and allowed us extra time to make our choices. I opted for a portion of chips and onion rings both with garlic mayo. My wife has allergies so we both chose the gluten free carrot cake and we both had milkshakes I had strawberry and my wife had banana. We did not have long to wait till our food arrived to our table. The presentation was outstanding. The chips and onion rings arrived in mini wire chip baskets with the garlic mayo in a mini jar.Very unique and petite. Our milkshakes arrived soon after with cream on top and made with icecream. We both received a generous portion of carrot cake. Our food was cooked to perfection, our milkshakes were bursting with flavour and our carrot cake was moist and the icing was very sweet. Overall we were very satisfied with our meal. We would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone and would definetely return. I've been here 3 times now. Once with an elderly friend who loves a garden centre cafe. I thought it a bit uninspiring, but she seemed to enjoy her sandwich and the coffee was ok. 2nd time was for coffee and cake. Coffee ok, cake was a bit meh - nothing to make me think about doing a happy dance. Third was yesterday. Definitely NOT going back, ever, for anything. Food is pricey for what you get. Waitress was all over us like a plague, their supposed anti Covid measures are a joke. Don't think I've ever had anyone hanging around my table for so long to take an order, and as for taking our details for the track and trace! Use a clipboard! Don't lean on the table, about 6 inches from each of our faces to write down my number. They've made a big song and dance about pre-booking a table, and screens, and not putting your food in front of you, but leaving it on a tray on a table to the side, but then you're almost in my lap getting my phone number. Food was OK, but a bit pricey for what it was. £15.75 for a baked tattie with some fatty gristly bacon, some tiny smears of brie, and a big dod of cranberry sauce, and an egg sandwich. The salad was fresh and crunchy and the homemade coleslaw was nice though. There's just something about the place though, it just lacks any comfort or atmosphere.

Going out for lunch should be a relaxing experience. The coffee shop at Klondyke have gone overboard to be Covid friendly and made the whole experience cold and unwelcoming. The first hurdle is downloading their app, choosing from the very limited menu on your phone and then serving yourself from a table. They also had the doors open, so very chilly. Other restaurants are managing to be Covid friendly without going to such extreme measures. Such a shame as this used to be a nice coffee shop, but won’t be returning.

My wife and I were in the Klondyke Garden Centre at Polmont for purchases and wanted to call in at the Topiary for a light lunch. I noticed that Falkirk Herald readers voted the Topiary their ‘café of the year’ last August (2018).AMBIENCE AND SERVICEWe’ve eaten here several times before, and in the past year improvements have clearly been made. Ailsa McKay became manager in 2017 and seems to have brought in a new level of quality, bringing out the friendliness and people-centred approach of the staff, and emphasising home-made baking and soups throughout, all made on site. In total there are nine staff members. The room is spacious, windowed on three sides, light and airy, with outside seating for the summer months. The tables have smart light wooden tops; the chairs have light wooden backs and are comfortable. Small stands on each table showcase special menus, forthcoming events at the Garden Centre, and even monthly gardening tips. Everything seemed very clean. There was no background music, just a nice babble of chatter from a good flow-through of customers.Food and drink are ordered at the counter on the left as you enter. Our order was taken by Mark, who was very friendly and professional. Customers are given a table number mast to place on their chosen table; freshly made food is then brought out by a server.FOOD AND DRINKA wide range of hot breakfasts are served until 11.30 each morning. A range of nine traditional and warm speciality sandwiches are made to order; daily specials are posted on a board as well as at the entrance to the Garden Centre. Salads and quinoa-based healthy options are also on offer, and afternoon tea with home-made scones is available from 2.30pm. There is also a children’s menu.We only wanted a light lunch so shared a soup and sandwich combo, ordering lentil soup and tuna mayo sandwich, with a pot of tea for two (which since we have a Klondyke loyalty card was free!). A very pleasant server, Sally, brought the soup and sandwich after only six or seven minutes. The soup was very well-made and flavourful, with extra vegetables, as was the large sandwich, made with fresh brown bread.IN CONCLUSIONAs coffee shops go the Topiary now has a fresh, alert atmosphere and staff, and the food we sampled was very, very good. I rate based on how well a venue is achieving its aims, so I’m happy to give 5 stars.

Visited here with a friend. Service very slow and wouldn’t say overly friendly. 15 minute wait for a sandwich. Coffee shop wasn’t that busy and could seriously do with being updated. Counter is in a very random place at the entrance to the coffee shop thus making it very cramped. One person serving not great although not much space on their side of the counter either.I’d advise the owners take a trip to the Clydeside (Goulding’s/Valley View) and see how it’s done.

Good stop near the motorway in Falkirk for lunch or a decent breakfast or afternoon snack/cake. Everything is homemade and looks and tastes it. Service can be a wee bit slow when busy but it’s only because it’s all made to order.

Just had the afternoon tea bogf offer while it offers good value for money my friend and I both thought sandwiches could have been fresher, and the scone was quite dry, perhaps fewer cakes and fresher bread would be better

No sé si volveremos aquí.

Only had a scone and drinks as most of the main meals were sold out - this could have been due to the timing of our visit - late Sunday afternoon. Plain scone was dry but OK, pot of jam was 40p extra. My coffee was strong for a latte and served in a small cup with a very small handle. Fancy but not practical. Not much room to manoeuvre as there are tables down the middle of the room. Expensive for a coffee shop which appears to want attract Premier Inn customers from next door.

Decided to use the 2 for 1 on mains meals voucher received in December. Visited on 22/1, choice was to be off the "specials menu", no shepherds pie left so I chose sausage stovies, husband chose macaroni cheese, 2 teas, £10.35. Macaroni ok, I have never seen or tasted "stovies" like it!!, - diusgusting - mushy potatoes with big lumps of sausages with a brioche roll on the side!! Will definitely not be back & I'm about to send them the recipe for stovies, I actually was looking for their e-mail address & came across the trip advisor blogs, so decided to air my views here first!!

Very disappointing. Small portions of poor quality food at dear prices. My husband and I took our 4yr old and 1 yr old daughters to the Topiary coffee shop for lunch. We ordered soup for myself at £3.95, omelette and chips for my husband at £5.99 and two kids macaroni cheese and chips at £3.95 each. My soup was given to me at the time of ordering which meant I was sitting with my soup whilst waiting at least 10 to 15 mins for the other orders to come from the kitchen. Our 1yr old was not for waiting once she saw my soup and so I gave her some which turned out to be a good idea once her lunch arrived. The kids macaroni cheese was horrible, it had been in the microwave too long and had gone crusty and dry, the portion size for the price was ridiculous! My children love macaroni cheese but only ate a few chips and not the macaroni. I did not complain as it was not practical for me at the time to do so. My husband’s omelette had burnt patches on the top, was greasy and also a very small portion for the price. We were at the coffee shop in the summer sometime and the food was bad but we thought maybe it was a one off. We will not be going back!

Our food wasn't up to standard today the bread was stale, I got charged £2.00 for a cobbs bought in biscuit that costs £0.60p to buy in. The place was quiet. I see that pensioners get a discount and it looks like they have increased the prices to account for this. You over you are not over 60 you will pay 25 percent more. Won't be back!

Harding University students enjoyed another wonderful time at Aromas. Food was delicious, the staff was attending, and the environment was cosy. Always welcomed with smiles and open arms. We are looking forward to seeing you in May 2020.

Overpriced, needs a real menu. While nothing wrong with the quality of the food, the combinations just didn’t work and resulted in a taste mess. I think the “chef” maybe needs to taste his own food. Had the Moroccan lamb. Which came cold, not helped by the ice cold cuscus which seemingly just came out of the fridge, buried under that was my single sprig of broccoli, again cold. While cuscus can be eaten cold, then that’s a cold dish…everything else should be cold, you can’t mix it with lamb and gravy. Add to it fresh mint sprig that overpowered the entire dish, destroying the lamb flavour. When you charge £25 for this dish at the bar rather than the restaurant…your delusions of “restaurant” quality foods stands out. It’s a £12 dish at best and even then it’s below parr. It just doesn’t work. The lamb was fine, but for the love of god, put it with traditional hot veg and maybe some roast potatoes.

Nearly 20 min to get baked potato. Very inexperienced staff, made latte then mixed that with spoon. Bake potato tasted half cooked, looked horrible and tested horrible, no salad or any side.

Nice staff quick service but food was awful. I think they threw my scrambled egg from the other side of the kitchen and used the cheapest bread for toast.

I was having a couple of pints here when the manager started talking about a carbon dioxide leak in the cellar, I am a gas tester in my professional life so I warned them no one should enter the cellar without the oxygen levels being checked as carbon dioxide is an asphyxiant in high enough concentrations. She started getting agitated and telling me she was a trained pub employee and that they had sensors, I asked what sensors and when were they calibrated. She refused to tell me and kicked me out. I'm going to assume she had carbon monoxide sensors in the basement and doesn't know the difference between carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. I have made a formal complaint to the HSE.
