The best restaurants serving Seafood food in East Midlands

Chips very good, fish never any flavour, but they do a good job burying it in the battery. Nice people and well presented little place. No idea on hygiene, the server wore gloves but was handling money and a calculator then touching the paper that the food goes on. But cover everything in vinegar and you will never notice, hopefully.

We visited this restaurant yesterday as it was listed as a recommendation by the accommodation that we were staying at nearby in Matlock. We now know that this recommendation was made based upon the restaurants previous reputation/owners and that it has since been taken over by new management in recent weeks. As stated in another recent review - do not be fooled by the older reviews, the images or the old menu of the food that used to be served here. We arrived for our reservation (which was for 6pm) 5 minutes early to see that the ‘closed’ sign was still up on the front door. When we popped our heads in to enquire we were advised that the table was ready but that ‘the chef was not’. That should’ve been enough of a red flag in hindsight but we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. We went away and had a drink at a nearby pub and returned 20 minutes later. The menu was disappointing to say the least compared to what we were expecting having done a bit of research beforehand. There was just one chef working alone in an open kitchen and one waiting member of staff for the entire restaurant. 3 of us ordered the stone bass and one ordered the fish and chips. The food was some of the worst that I have ever eaten in a restaurant despite waiting well over 40 minutes for our only course. We felt unable to make too much of a scene at the time as the restaurant was so small and intimate and because the chef was working in an open kitchen within the dining area. There were also some other diners present. When we received the bill we were charged £108 for a meal which consisted of 4x main courses and 4x soft drinks. We were left feeling so upset and ripped off and to be honest it ruined that evening of our holiday for us. I never usually write reviews, especially not negative ones but feel so strongly about our experience and really don’t want anyone else to be fooled into visiting this restaurant on based on its previous reputation and being left feeling the way that we did.

This is the FINEST chippy in the whole of the UK. I do a round trip of 176 miles to this one, and nowhere beats it. Harry and the team are exceptional. Perfect service and the food is the best bar non. Love this place

Came here for the first time tonight after the refurb, Finn is an asset to the team, he went above and beyond. Great at delegating professionally to make things run as effectively as possible! Only thing I would say is that the chips could be made more crispier as they were on the dryer side. I do hope Finn gets the recognition he deserves for providing excellent customer service.

Visited this evening with my 5 year old for a treat and can certainly recommend. The food was great and the service was absolutely fantastic. Such friendly and helpful staff I can’t praise them enough. Will definitely be going again.

I had Afternoon Tea with friends to celebrate one of their birthdays. I have never been disappointed with Aquavita whenever I have had their meals or takeaways. I certainly was not disappointed this time either.. An amazing selection of sandwiches and cakes, all delicious as was the tea. Everyone had their own cake stand with six different sandwiches and sausage roll and a crisp tampura piece of fish. ,Plus scone with jam & cream, cupcake, cheesecake, millionaire slice, chocolate brownie, plum bread & cheese. We all had doggy bags to take home because it was too much to eat and we were there for two hours. The birthday girl was delighted and we are definitely going to visit again for another meal and another Afternoon Tea. I cannot recommend this Afternoon Tea highly enough and the price was less than we had been quoted elsewhere. If you see Aquavita Catering advertised anywhere you are guaranteed quality and delicious tasting dishes..

The opening times aren't true for a buttie we came today and it wasn't open at all it said the opening time was i which isn't true

White warm up chips butty was hard Gravy tasted like curry not for me

Good food ,served quickly with a smile.Bit pricey but aren't most chip shops now.Well worth a visit.

Traditional family run chip shop cooking their food in beef dripping. Really tasty!! I've been here many times, and it's been consistently good. They care about the quality of the food they serve you, and you can taste it. It's my favorite chippy in Nottingham.

As a inland fish and chip shop this takes some beating beautifully cooked .One thing that is being lost is homemade fish cakes add these to the menu and in my experience they will be a top seller.

Amazing little village but loads of choice. Super friendly staff. Order ahead or cooked fresh while you wait. My personal fave is a halloumi salad pitta

A sign of a great chippy is that it’s always busy. Amazing fresh. Always tastes amazing. Couldn’t wish for better service or food. Chris is the best fryer around!
