Friendly, chatty staff. Whole family agreed fish and chips best they’d had for a long long time. Fish put in and cooked to order when u walk in. Big portions. I had their steak and kidney pudding and mushy peas later in the week.. which was brilliant too. Not surprised its busy.. such a small village is very lucky to have it here. Definitely worth travelling to if you are in the area. Highly recommended..

Long que for food, but good ordering system. Really delicious food esp the burger which was like a restaurant quality one only slight negative was that batter on fish was a tad greasy but that is my personal choice. Very good value too

What can I say that hasn’t been said. This. After a lovely day out had a horrendous journey back to our caravan. Road closures, odd diversions and jams. Had read good reviews of Elliots chippie so diverted there and we weren’t disappointed. Plenty of locals waiting which is a good sign. Smashing atmosphere inside. Had some good banter with the young lady chippie while we were waiting. Your food is cooked fresh. Fried me some onion rings specially and I can tell you they were outstanding. Not like the thin things you usually get. The young lady tried to convince me to try a deep fried mars but afraid that is definitely not on my bucket list. Took our meal back to the ‘van to eat. The Boss unwrapped her fish with “that is a huge piece of fish” which she pronounced lovely with really good batter. I’m just a London yob (no class) so I just had pie and chips which were first class with a big portion of beautifully cooked chips. Enough left over for a chip buttie Best way to end a chippie meal. So, if you’re in the area of the Hope Valley, I would strongly urge you to try Elliot’s Chippie. I promise you won’t regret it. Try the onion rings as an extra treat. Your life will be complete.

Had a long weekend in Tideswell and decided to have Fish and Chips from Elliot’s. They were amazing the fish was very tasty and the batter was exceptional, with great chips. A really nice atmosphere in the shop whilst waiting for the food to be cooked to order.

The traditional chippy is amazing, great happy service in a lovely village setting with a beautiful cathedral and great park for kids, nice couple of hours trip.

Good quality sausage and chips for a great price! The curry sauce was tasty and the chicken burger was superb! They also do deep fried mars bars which was a treat! Really good value for money!

We return every year to visit Tideswell & fish & chips at Elliots is a must. Friendly staff and lovely food. Sit in the sunshine across the road to eat them.

This local spot for fish and chips in Tideswell is iconic. The prices were the best and most reasonably priced we have ever come across and as a result we tried one of everything! The deep fried mars bar was a particular favourite but for those less adventurous the fish and chips were solid considering we’re not close to the coast! The man and woman running this establishment were friendly and created a nice atmosphere with a banterous joke here and there! I would highly recommend, expect long ques as it’s worth the wait!

So thankful that you were open on a Monday night and pleased to see scallops (the potato fried in batter variety) on the menu here, had to have a couple of those! Chips delicious. Had the cheese and onion pie which wasn't very good sadly, but everything else tippety top. Thank you.

We have used this fish and chip shop everytime we visit Tideswell and it has never disappointed. Food is always good and a reasonable price. It does get busy so best to get in early.

Found this chippy queued outside for 40 mins as the three people behind the counter were more interested in chatting than serving and also prioritised phone orders and constantly waiting for chips, you can see the queue and guess what ? Yes we all want...

Visiting Tideswell-I had to go to Elliots. I first went there mid-60's as I lived there for a time. not sure if the shop is in the same family -but nothing much has changed as far as quality goes -we will be back.

Phoned down to Elliotts to order fish & chips and it was all ready for collection when we got there. My portion of cod was HUGE and our portion of chips was a decent size too. My wife always has the curry sauce and it’s exactly how “chip shop curry sauce” should beWe are lucky to have so many excellent food outlets in Tideswell

We had a night off cooking while in a holiday cottage in Tideswell and really enjoyed the fish, chips and mushy peas. Recommended.

Crisp batter on well cooked fish, decent sized chips and friendly service. Just like a chippy should offer.

Unfortunately the fish was over cooked and greasy, the batter was a really dark brown and the fish inside was dried up and had turned rubbery. A shame really because the chips were nice and the service very friendly

Good chips but my dad had to queue for 90 MINUTES outside to be served because they prioritised phone orders! Didn't realise there was another chippy round the corner - just go to that one instead if Elliott's has more than a handful of people in the queue.

Ordered cod, battered sausages, chips and peas and it was genuinely perfect.Fish and sausages were freshly battered while we waited and we saw our chips start their journey has whole potatoes. No ready cut frozen stuff going on here!Really enjoyrd it, couldn't ask for any more from a chippie!

Excellent fish and chip shop. Great value and a great choice. Run for 44 years by the owner, who cooks your fish to order. After 44 years he knows how to fry. Highly recommended

Good chippy I all ways come this chippy not like the other chippy gave me bad gut on and of the dam bog I think they dint cook fish right it cost more from the chippy on the corner yet this chip is better quality food iv never had one problem with this chippy owners frendly staff are do coffee as well top chippy highly recommended as well

Called in again to this wonderful fish and chip shop yesterday after climbing in the peak on a glorious cold but sunny day. My mate and I are very close to awarding Elliott’s the number 1 fish and chip shop in the peak. Superb! The batter is light and the chips golden and dry. Our mouths water just thinking about it. Well done! 5 stars not enough.

If your looking for a traditional fish and chip shop selling a range off food offerings including fritters, scampi at reasonable prices. The look no further than Elliott’s. This was our first time to Tideswell and whilst all the fish and chip shops in Tideswell are highly recommended Elliott’s was the closet to where we were staying.The welcome was warm from the staff who were born and breed in the area and the service was traditional with the chips in a small bag.Would recommend

Whenever we go to the UK we buy 'fish and chips' once during our holidays. This time at Elliot's in Tideswell, a nice shop run by two very friendly, elderly gentlemen. The chips including the large fish was very good and tasty and the price was very reasonable. To be recommended!

Three of us had the cod and chips tonight. A friendly welcome (we’re visiting Tideswell). Freshly cooked. Perfectly cooked soft cod in a golden delicious batter and classic fish and chips style chips, and not expensive. We all loved it. Thank you. Tideswell is a lovely village and everyone we’ve met has been very friendly.

Very friendly chip shop. Best fish and chips I've ever eaten. All is cooked when you order. You can even buy bags of potatoes and boxes of eggs. Local people return their egg boxes to be reused.

Elliots is now only the remaining Fish and Chip Take away in the village. Ordered 2 cod and large portion of chips. When back at holiday cottage, 2 minutes walk away. We sat down to have our long waited tea treat. Noticed straight away that the chips were dark in colour and tasted very greasy. The portions of fish weren’t very big and these too tasted greasy and the batter was not ‘Chrisp’ and tasty. All we came to think that these portions weren’t freshly cooked to order and may have been left over frying of the lunch time cooking. The frying fat in which this our early evening order , may also be of long time use?

Ordered a number of items, all cooked very well and the chips were very tasty. Also tried the battered Mars Bar for the first time. Very sweet but again very nice. The banter from the owner also made the visit. Love this place would recommend and return again. Top man Elliot 43 years of frying... you need a medal.

While on holiday in the area we called in for fish and chips. We had two portions of cod and chips which were very tasty. The cod was cooked to perfection. The fish and chip shop was very clean and the gentleman fryer was very friendly.

We always come here for our Fish & Chips (and fry-its, sausages, curry sauce etc etc) and are never disappointed. The portions (especially chips) are generous, and the service speed is never a problem. No need to worry about your place in line, Mr Elliott is on top of things. Even though you might think nit, given the ribbing that goes on here. All part of the service

I live in In Tideswell. I visited this chip shop last evening. It was busy, not surprising that's its peak holiday season. Waited 30 mins to get served, was asked to place my fish order on entry, it was cooked but hung around in hot cabinet for 25 mins, the batter became soft. This place needs more staff, the lady wrapping order is very slow. Better chip shops in local area.

We queued as you must do on Saturday evening at 7pm. The owner chats with everyone. Stories come from him and the regular customers.

My lovely lady and I turned up at Elliot’s right on closing time (it has to be said we were on holiday and was unaware of times).

After searching on google maps in the hopes of some hot food we found this gem that thankfully was still open. Delicious chips, tasty gravy and the fish was huge! Banter was fast flowing making for a very welcoming atmosphere, will definitely return next time we are here ☺️

Called in for a quick dinner on a very wet and windy Friday night. There was a welcome as you came in and the fresh Grimsby haddock was superbly cooked to order. The mushy peas are to die for. Chips are still served in grease proof bags. Now we have found this place we will certainly be dropping in again when in this part of the Peak.

We've been coming here for years, so it's time for a review! Good fish & chips are rare, but this is one of those places. Food is cooked to order but well worth waiting for as the owner is friendly, witty and thoroughly entertaining with his customers - many of whom he knows well. Excellent golden chips, not greasy at all. The fish is exquisite - flaky and beautifully fresh. The portions are generous and prices reasonable. A place worth recommending - and we'll be back!

Look at those proper Yorkshire fishcakes. Most fish in a fishcake I have ever had. Friendliest chippy I know & always top quality. We finished it off with a battered Mars bar (first time we've had one & wasn't dissapointed).

We initially visited Elliott’s on the strength of other reviews, and the second time based on the food, fantastic service, and great community feel. Fantastic fish and chips, cooked to order - tasty and reasonably priced. Owner is very entertaining, and his daughter-in-law who served us was welcoming and chatty. Highly recommended.

Food here is great, service with a smile too. If you’re a regular, you know to come armed with banter. If you’re visiting, just go with the flow and don’t take things too seriously

We had a delicious supper and would definitely return if we are in the area again. My husband loved his spam fritter and we were both amazed when the next customer ordered a pea fritter as we had never heard of, let alone seen one so we were very curious but not enough to sample one as we had already placed our order and didn't need anything extra. It did look pretty good tho! Served efficiently by friendly staff.

Finished our very long walk around Alpert Dale at 8:45pm and we’re desperate to find some food somewhere! The chip shop in Bradwell should have been open (as advertised online) but had closed early when we got there. Thank goodness Elliot’s in Tideswell was still open (until 10pm). We creaked through the door.....I was almost bent double..... to be met with cheerful banter from the owner who was perched on his stool as we entered. All food was freshly cooked to order and we didn’t mind waiting as we were entertained while we waited! Every customer was greated with a twinkle in the eye, a quirky quip, a chuckle or a joke. A local called Darren was ribbed on entry but gave as good as he got and a pair of cyclists stayed to chat while ravenously devouring their chips. Two little girls scraped together almost enough for chicken nuggets, chips and gravy to share. The lady said not to worry about the shortfall, she’d just give them fewer chips but I noticed the portion size looked just as generous to me! We rushed back to the tent and devoured our fish, chips and sausages... it hardly touched the sides! Batter was crisp, sausages delicious and the chips piping hot! Best chip shop in the area by far!

Great traditional fish and chip shop. The fish, and often the chips, are cooked to order so you often wait for 5 - 10 minutes but it’s worth it.

A regular traditional establishment. Of our two fish ordered, one was de-skinned, the other not. Staff are friendly, the owner slightly eccentric in a nice way.
