Fish chips and peas special was lovely tasted so nice and price was excellent but the owner went the extra mile and gave me some free bin bags for muddy hikers clothes and boots we where picking up as we couldn’t find a shop xxx

Great fish and chips, served with proper cutlery on real plates. The portions were generous and offered good value. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside were the mushy peas, which were under-seasoned

Affordable and a suitably sized portion. Inside options yet able to partake in al fresco eating nestled in beautiful surroundings. I enjoyed the best fish and chips I've had in ages. Really reasonable for the price. (Almost polished off completely as this was so good and then it occurred to me that a photo might help compliment a favourable review.) Really lovely fish, like it was just pulled fresh from the waves!

After visiting The Heights of Abraham, we visited Matlock Bath for a diner. Taste of Waves served very delicious food. All my family was satisfied. Great place to try deep-fried plaice! Awesome customer service, very polite!

Fantastic fish and chips for a really good price. Was worried quality might not be great due to the price, but pleased to say I was totally wrong. Both my wife and I had a lovely bit of fish, kids enjoyed theirs as well. Would definitely return.

Ok so I've heard about Matlock having the best Fish N Chips. So I decided to see if this was true or not. Cause I haven't had Fish N Chips for a long time as I was put off after had some last year. So I went into Taste the waves and ordered Fish N Chips and they had a good offer Fish N Chips with Peas, Gravy or Curry for £9 which isn't bad for that price where as some places charge you over £10. I got my order and it came out pretty quick which I was surprised and you tell you thins the Fish N Chips in Matlock are the best especially from this place so if you ever in Matlock I would recommend Taste the waves

Popped in for lunch and I wasn't disappointed. One of the best fish and chips lunches I've had in quite some time. Lovely fish with a light crispy batter cooked to perfection.

Well what can I say except super fish and chips clean premises and pleasent staff will be back we have not tried this place even though we are are local people but after today we won't go any where else in Matlock

Food is Great Place is clean and bright. Staff are so friendly and helpful. And because its slightly out from centre you can always park your pride and joy. You won't be disappointed.

This is just a chip shop. But notwithstanding that, the fish & chips/ chips and gravy were great. And the staff excellent and friendly. Very pleased we went to this chippy. Could improve the veggie options with halloumi or battered veggie sausages.

Great food, including peas. We had cod, chips, fishcake and peas and all were great, at a good price too. Would definitely go back, and recommend to others. They have a toilet for customers too. If the restaurant reads this, I left my bag of shopping there on Saturday. I haven't been able to find a number to call to see if you have it. Are you able to let me know if you have it so I know if to make the 90 minute round trip to come and pick it up please.

No only the best fish and chips in Matlock but honestly the best I’ve ever had and that’s a fair amount. The fish is cooked to perfection still soft and fresh. A light batter but still crispy. And the chips are also cooked to perfection, great colour and slightly crispy on the outside.

Top honours to the staff at this absolute gem of a fish and chips restaurant. Finest batter I've ever had and the fish was exceptional. Chips were superb too. Try it as a could not recommended them more highly.

Great fish and chips!! I have to agree these are better than my local chippy back home in Sheffield, and also better than the one we visited recently in Mablethorpe too, both of which are great chippies and hard to beat.

I must post this review as my first. We needed gluten free and found this gem of a chippy. Their chips are cooked separately so are gluten free and they can cook a fish without batter which is also gluten free. It was the best fish and chips I have ever eaten in my life. I have been to other places in the past and the gluten free batter I have tasted isn’t nice. This is by far the best chippy in Matlock and do the best gluten free. We will definitely be returning if we visit again. The staff are also so friendly and kind and it was a pleasure to eat there.

Many good fish and chip shops in Matlock Bath but these are easily some of the tastiest I've ever eaten anywhere in the country. Excellent value medium cod, chips and peas / curry sauce with beautiful flaky fish in a light crispy golden batter. The chips melted in my mouth. Was so good I almost bought another portion. Polite and friendly service.

As stated in previous reviews I am a picky eater but whenever I'm in Matlock this is the chip shop for me. I have tried others along the parade but none compare to taste of the waves. It has become a family favourite for lunch for us ☺️

Good chips - properly cooked, decent amount of potato inside - and sauce sachets are large ones, so you actually get enough sauce. Will be going back.

We happened to be passing by and called in to get something small and quick to put us on. Six quid got us a portion of fish and chips to share, and the quality was exceptional. Fresh cooked, not greasy, and delicious. Staff were as friendly as could be. Wasn't busy as it was the end of the day and a cold November afternoon, but still well worth the visit. Recommended.

The person who brought out my food he insulted me under his breath, the drinks are overpriced the food was alright and the building stunk and the bald bloke was very rude

Absolutely delicious fish and chips!!! Very light, tasty and unlike the usual oil heavy fish we normally get in most places. Both me and the wife noticed this, and the children managed to finish their portions too. The team were fantastic...quick turnaround with hardly any wait, and they were most accomodating to our requests as my brother prefers a pescetarian diet and doesn't drink. Plenty of space to sit and clean tables. I went with parents and my brother and we all enjoyed a good meal. Thank you for having us!!! Recommended 👍🏼

Slowest takeaway i've ever been. Place is run so badly, the main guy serving doesnt know how to run a team. Got 3 young staff stood around asking him what do, no responses, working head down on his own no wonder they're waiting times are ridiculous. Cant comment on food, still stood waiting as i write this!

Nicest fish & chips we had in a long time.

We travel down on a day trips down to Matlock bath, saw this chippy order the catch of the day for the family. And staff was friendly and helpful. Good service full marks

You are obviously discriminating against people with hidden disabilities. Your policy on not allowing people onto your premises without a face covering, even with a government lanyard is a cause for concern! You do realise that you can be personally fined up to £9,000 . Wake up and do your homework, I strongly suggest logging Ito to UK Column News on their website and wake up! I for sure would not recommend your business.

Lovely place. Friendly helpful staff. Quick food arrival. Fresh food too. Haddock and cod are both lovely and crispy. Place is clean and nice very clean and tidy toilets. I will now only come here when visiting Matlock Bath. 😁

Lovely chips and peas. Cooked fresh, or at least finished off (twice fried) to order. They say they cook the chips separately from the fish (in vegetable oil,) which I assume would be important for those who follow the vegetarian practise. Good prices too. Free parking outside (if you can find a space.)

There is an abundance of fish and chip shops in Matlock Bath and unfortunately we seemed to pick the worst one. We ordered 3 x medium fish and chips at £4.50 each with a curry/peas/gravy included. We weren't expecting too much but the fish was tiny, one piece was full of bones and one was so rubbery my daughter couldn't eat it (I thought she was over exaggerating so tried it myself and she was right). Others on the same street were offering the same thing for around the same price - I would try them first as most of ours ended up in the bin

Excellent fish and chips, we stopped off by chance, having checked Google rating this place was above the rest locally and we can certainly see why. Great food and service. We will definitely be there next time we're visiting and will certainly recommend to anyone.

Very good fish and chips. Proper crispy batter, good chips and lovely chippy gravy. All served fresh hot and with good cheer. Oh and reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend.

Had a meal there 1 August. Chips were brilliant, tea good, burger average. But oh my goodness! the staff need a cheerfulness lesson. Zero welcome, smile free service from waitress, and no friendly goodbye or thanks.

We visited Matlock Bath with our Grandchildren,they wanted fish and chips so we called at the Taste of the Waves. All of the staff were so friendly especially Rob who was very patient with the children and recommended our best deal. They also do a smashing 'Mug' of tea and coffee. We will definitely be eating there next time we visit.Thankyou all at the Taste of the Waves!

Visited today as a family of four. Brilliant service. Fish and Chips were delicious and the whole place was kept very clean, despite it being a busy day. Will definitely go back next time we visit. Plus side: they take debit cards! So many of the other chip shops along there do not and it’s very inconvenient.

My favourite chippy. I started bringing my son here on our motorbike rideouts and it's become a real favourite of ours. I've been back a few times and I always come away full up and happy from the experience. A must for me, if I'm anywhere near Matlock.

We have eaten here many times now and not had a bad meal yet. The fish is fresh and the portions are just right.

Stopped here on our way to the train station from Gullivers. We initially ate in but had to rush for train and the man there happily trayed and baggged it all up for us, he couldn’t have been more helpful. Oh and the food is fantastic there. Best chips I’ve ever had!

We dropped on a gem here. This was a very nice fish and chip shop on par with our local. It was a very clean place and all the staff were very friendly and kind. One of my children is gluten free and they could even cater for her and it was no problem and looked just as yummy as our fish and chips. Great portion size for the price and the food was so fresh and tasty will be back on our next visit to the area.

Large chips were like a small portion Ketchup tasted watered down and not ketchup like at all Fish cake tasted Bland and just fell to bits. Staff not listening to anything I say. Decor is old and dated. Won't be coming back

I came in on Wednesday with my little boy and friends. I am really upset that I was short changed by £5.

Tuesday 14/08/18; Stopped in here for a well earned lunch, after a hike up to Riber castle and back. My friend and I both had the £4.50 special of Fish and Chips. After walking up and down the main street in Matlock to see where else we could eat, we were both glad we came back here for the special. The fish was really tasty and melt in your mouth, the chips were perfect and the hosts were really friendly and welcoming. Will make this our regular place each time we go back to Matlock and very happy to recommend. Thank you!

Walking from Matlock to Matlock bath had given us an appetite and what better indulgence when in Matlock Bath than Fish and Chips as the place does have a "beside the seaside" feel. This old Spa town wont let you down and if you try Taste of the Waves then you will have struck gold.

We first visited this establishment about a year ago, there is a huge choice of fish and chip shops in Matlock Bath and luckily we chose this one it was so good that we had to return this year when we were in the area, the food is all freshly cooked to order and the batter is so light and crispy it is perfect. Cod,chips and mushy peas for two for £9.00 a bargain !!! Do not miss the opportunity to visit this wonderful restaurant.

We visit Matlock bath a least a couple of times per month and try different places to eat regularly. However this little chippy will take some betting. Food excellent and service with a smile we could not ask for better.

Lo que me gusta especialmente es que el pescado (abadejo) estaba servido con la piel y deshuesados. El servicio era amable y el hotel estaba limpio. Abadejo con dos comidas, y patatas fritas, patatas fritas y guisantes gambas, un chip butty, tres lattes y un refresco viene en menos de £26 nos pareció muy buena relación calidad-precio. El hecho de que el día anterior habíamos pagado más de la mitad de ese precio para sólo cuatro cafés en otra ubicación, pone en perspectiva el valor.

Choice to eat in or take away. Bright and clean restaurant with friendly staff. Tasty crispy cod and chips and peas for £5.50 each. Washed down with a pot of tea it was delicious. Service very quick and efficient.

Always eat here when we visit Matlock bath. Lovely fish, chips and peas. Our favourite is the curry sauce. Sometimes we buy extra curry sauce and take it home for the next day. Staff friendly and restaurant is modern and clean.

We called in for tea before going to the illuminations at Matlock Bath. We ordered at the counter and by the time we sat down the order appeared, fish and chips, with peas for hubby and curry sauce for me. The fish was so fresh...

Parecía sobre un lugar para comer, un montón de tiendas de chip, pero éste tomó nuestro sofisticado, y me alegro tanto de haberlo hecho. Empanada crujiente y patatas calientes propiamente dicho, un suculento pescado, servicio amable, gran taza de té, y excepcionalmente limpias. No dudaría en volver a comer aquí de nuevo.
