Amazing food, always great service, wouldn’t go annywhere else!

Not nice atmosphere, the vendor had an attitude on serving me but very much please and thanks with other customers, the cashiers having a good giggle at myself what was the joke I don’t know! Then when eventually my turn came even though I was third in place I had 8 minute wait for one potato fritter, and the vendor had a tone when explaining the wait to the cashier. It was as quote “she’ll have to wait” so much caring for the little people bear in mind for what I know I cue up in a very small shop with several people after myself from what I know I don’t know what I have done to retrieve such poor service avoid at all costs!

Now living in France, one of a few things that make me miss Derby is the memory of your kebabs. They don't quite master theirs over here - using tortillas instead of pittas, meat's too greasy, not much salad, etc... Keep well dear, you and your family (hope the kids are ok).By the way, I still don't know your name! (mine's Marieclaude). Lots of love.

The best fish and chips (and kebabs) in the area. The service is very efficient and the staff are excellent. I've just polished off another of their irresistible doner kebabs.

Calm and effective staffing means although there are many customers, you get served promptly. Lovely food, not greasy.

Love this place. Rescued me again after a very long day and not being able to face cooking tea. Lovely food, really friendly staff. Fish and chips are lovely, not greasy at all and my son loves the sausage, chips and gravy.We never go anywhere else. Oh I also rate the kebabs but didn't have that tonight! Thanks again.

Friendly, helpful, efficient staff. All food excellent as always. Just recently discovered the cheese and onion fry it's - delicious. Pineapple fritters are really good as well. Once a week treat for family - wouldn't go anywhere else. Very easy to order on line.

Recommend the fish and also the chicken meat. Both delicious! The chips are decent, maybe not quite the best I’ve ever had but they came close. I’ll definitely be coming back here for fish and chips. Long queue at 7pm on a Friday (as expected) but moved relatively quickly so not a problem. Sounds like you can ring and pre order if you’re in a hurry to collect.

Great food and good size portions.

We always come here after our midweek cricket match. We often turn up late but the owner,(I’m really sorry but I don’t know your name?) is the friendliest guy. In fact all the staff are fab! The food is delicious, especially the kebab meat. But my lot love the chips & beans!!! Thank you Allestree Fish Bar; top chip shop!!!

Can't fault this place really, called in today for 2 small fish & a portion of chips to share with my wife oh 2 curry sauce also, the owner did me some batter bits/scratchings because i mentioned liking them so thanks for that 👍 Everything was nice & fresh & hot and consumed up Allestree woods in the van 😋 Will definitely be calling in again.

Really sorry, but the fish today was awful. A big portion of cod, but was very mushy and not the usual texture of cod, more like crab! Loads of chips and nice peas. £12 was a hefty price to pay.

I have amended my review/score to reflect your excellent customer service. ……Went here for lunch today. No large cod ready so ordered one and was told it would be about 8 minutes, which was fine. When it was ready the lady put out the chips and then the fish in a separate box. As she did I thought it looked a small fish. When I got back to my car and opened the box and said to my wife it was a large cod my wife didn’t believe me and thought I was having a laugh. Smaller than last fish from here. Owner quick to respond will pop in to speak to him

A great local shop with good fresh meals to take away. Staff on the ball and good customer service. Worth a visit and servings are generous.

Expensive but you get what you pay for. Quick service even when busy.

Great place. Food was excellent and a nice size portion. Really enjoyed it and will use again. If I had to be critical, just get the staff to acknowledge you when you walk in. It's a simple thing, but makes the world of difference to a customers experience. Other than that 5 Star, and will definitely recommend.

Had a delicious cod this afternoon with a portion of curry sauce, the bater was absolutely delicious and melted in the mouth and the fish was very tasty.Curry sauce was lovely to . It was a lovely treat. Recommended.

Always great service here. I just about always have the mixed meat and salad wrap because it is gorgeous. Meat is always cut fresh rather than being sat sweating in a pan which makes it taste 1000% better!

By far the best fish and chip shop in the area. The fish is always very fresh ,of excellent quality and well cooked. We first used the shop at the start of Covid and have been regular visitors ever since and the quality has been very consistent. We have no hesitation in recommending

One of the Best Chip Shops in Derbyshire.. Worth travelling that little few miles. Dont Go on a Monday like I did, they are closed. But hopefully they might do in future.

Would recommend! The portion sizes are really good and well worth the price, with smaller and more affordable portions being available for those who only want a snack or work/study at the nearby schools. The service is usually quick however when the school kids from Woodlands go to buy chips, especially on a Friday, the queue can get fairly big, but this is to be expected!

Waited 35 mins for my order, I take it the girl serving me forgot about it….? Very disappointing!

Consistently good food, friendly staff and owner. Having lived in Derby for 10 years now, I can honestly say that this is the best chippy in the area. In fact it's one of the best chip shops in the country no exaggeration! We went to the coast recently and despite the raving reviews, the chip shop we sampled was horrible! We have definitely been spoilt by living local to Allestree Fish Bar... Just waiting for a Sheffield fish cake to be put on the menu and it'll be home away from home :) Whatever you do don't retire!! :)

Excellent, as always. Very well thought out covid precautions, can order online, by phone (voice call), app, or in person. Take an umbrella if wet while waiting outside the shop. Not our nearest chippie, but better quality fish batter & chip quality consistently good compared to the 4 nearer our home

Best customer service! Have ordered a few times and all was perfect. This last weekend did a very large order and 1 item left out. Rang and didn’t even have to say anything more but a fish was missing before they said they would bring it to our house! In the time it took to cook a fish and get to us- it was there...and with extra chips! That is the way to run a successful business!! Thank you for making sure our dinner was as we had wanted.

OMG the Allestree Chippie is open again. I couldn’t be happier. They’ve just reopened with click and collect. People - be patient. These are the best fish and chips in Derby - if you have to queue be patient it is soooo worth the wait. I’ve heard today people queuing are being aggressive and impatient. Get a grip people! They are doing their best in unusual circumstances.

We often call here at least once a week they do a Donna wrap which we love with chips and Also the Mini specials Fish chips mushy peas and a sausage very good value and very friendly staff and generous portions too always cooked fresh and very tasty

Great kebabs but arrived home to find sauces/ dips missing!

I'm a window fitter so we work all over the Midlands and I always love a chippy when we are near one. Today in derby was my absolute favourite chippy I've had all year. The chicken meat and chips were presented in a big box and full to the rim. The guy behind the counter was friendly and asked how my day was. The food tasted incredible.
