Came in with my mum this lunch time .. had burger and chips and fish and chips, great food, great quality,fast service. Would recommend

Kedleston is my local chippy, eat there pretty much weekly and cant say i've had a bad experience up to now, Food is always tasty and definitely fresh. Staff have always been friendly to me and ive never had to wait ages for my food (even tho they can get quite busy) The cake options inside are also a nice touch!

Went to get a bite for lunch and didn't bother. Wasn't acknowledged as the man who I think is the owner was on his phone whilst eating from a tub with his fingers and double dipping. Bad service and unhygienic!

Only went in for a small kebab! Didnt have all the salad, what salad they gave me i did not eat (looked old) definitely not fresh! Kebab was cold, what i believe was the owner, behind the counter, phone in one hand eating something with the other hand, not exactly hygiene at its best, never again! Will travel further to markeaton fish bar. Very disappointing & waste of money!

So glad I didn’t read these reviews before I ordered. Ordered from here last night. It was lovely. My partner ordered a triple cheese burger and honestly looking at it alone made me so hungry. The beef patties looked amazing inside the toasted brioche bun. We also ordered mix meat on chips with chilli sauce, chicken nuggets, a battered sausage and a wrap. (Not just for us) All was amazing! Yes the batter was about pale but still tasted amazing! Was just saying we will be using them again.

This used to be amongst the best chippies in Derby. Being in the area last night I called in to buy fish and chips. I suppose I should have followed my instincts and left when I saw the cake cabinet just inside the door. The staff were disorganised and there appeared to be a power battle going on between 2 of them. The fish was cooked as I waited but the batter was light in colour and soggy. As described in other reveiws the chips were hard and cold. This was not a pleasant experience from walking into the shop to throwing the left overs into the bin. So if you are thinking about using this place don't, just don't!

Food tastes good just a shame you don't always recieve it all. Done a few orders feom here now the food is good but the service is poor. On more than one occasion we have had issues 1st time we ordered for 3 kids and our selves and we were missing a meal the woman who we spoke to on the phone owned up and said she had missed it out and actually delivered it herself. 2nd time we placed an order through deliveroo they took our money but no food as they canceled the order as they didn't have a fish cake so our money was in deliveroos hand until they refunded it, it would have been better if they had called us instead of canceling and asked us if we wanted the fishcake changed for something else. 3rd time same as the first this time the girl that answered said she had definetly packed it and I said I don't know what's happend then as it isn't in the bag and it sealed. She then talked to her boss which we could hear her boss told her that we can order a fritter and they can do replacment meal I said so we have to pay for a fritter and delivery just to get our missing meal or £5 off our next order that's all they could do. This is because they use outside delivery service in my opinion they should have raised an order them selves and paid for it as we had already paid.

Waited 20 minutes for gravy and chips. Wish I hadn’t bothered. The chips were hard and watery and the gravy was like water. Went as I was working in the area. Won’t be rushing back! Sussex circus the only one for me from now on.

Great food, friendly staff and very generous portion sizes. The menus are clear and the shop is also dog friendly. Would eat here again

Unless you're desperate I'd give it a miss these days Used to come here regularly but the food quality keeps getting worse and the prices keep going up. Chips are pretty bad majority of the time now. I was in there the other night and they charged me more than the listed price on the board by 1.80 and then denied they did so.

Fish and chips horrible . Fish very soggy and bitter because oil hasn’t been changed for ages . Chips dry and crunchy you might break teeth . I hope owner improves . For now not recommending

Constantly getting the orders wrong. The portions have been halved since last autumn. The only chippy in the area, but not really worth it.

Been going to this place for some time, mostly had good experience however tonight was my last and I left without nothing. They attempted to charge me more than what was written on the menu and when I said they should be charging what is advertised, the guy who runs it had the cheek to say “no I shouldn’t actually, I can charge whatever I want doesn’t matter what it says up there.” Why have it written up there then if you’re going to lie and charge more than advertised? Absolutely awful attitude and they have lost a pretty regular customer here.

Chippy dinner, large menu choice with a very good ordering system at the counter, they have lots of staff serving so there is not much of a wait, very good portion size at a very reasonable price, it works for me.

My hubby thought he would treat us to fish,chips and curry sauce ,it was awful he ordered cod ,but sure it was haddock and the chips were not chippy chips they looked like you got them out of a bin which you had thrown away the night before ,limp ,hard and flavourless, never again!!

Nearly had a dental bill after these rocks, sorry chips, large fish looked like a goujon, sausage wasn't fit for my dog, owner wasn't around so called to speak to him the next day and make him aware as the food has gradually got worse over the last 6 months, he was rude and defensive saying the chips were due to 'dry season' and any chippy is the same at this time of year.....WILL NEVER ORDER AGAIN

Chips are like rocks. Obviously not fresh didn’t receive 2 items of the order delivery driver was unreal couldn’t find door number even though it was a business name 🤦🏼‍♀️ never ordering again. If you’re thinking about id advise you not to!

One of the best fish and chips I’ve had for ages, great service too, I’m not usually keen on the chips from fish an chips shops as they tend to be either too dry or too soggy but couldn’t fault these. The cod was really good too.

wow, i’ve bought food from here before and in particular on previous occasions thought it might be a one off for the poor quality chips, but once again I bought regular chips and have to say that they are ‘grim’ to say the least. They are like chips that you had the night before and left them on the plate to clean up the following day, scrappy bits, dry and stale would be a good descriptor. Really quite sad actually since they are in a prime location for folks on the way home to get some grub, but you really are letting yourselves down big style with these dry, tasteless ‘chips’. This is clearly a trend now (i was definitely willing to try a few times especially since it’s on the way home,) but alas I’m done with the place now. You’ve received poor ratings previously as can be seen on your profile and yet you still serve up the ‘cardboard packaging’ I wish you all the best - i really do think you need it.

Just been after being recommended and I have to say, they were the worst chips I’ve ever been served at a chip shop. They were all hard and chewy every single chip, they must have been yesterdays to be that bad, even with the runny peas and gravy on top they were still hard. The battered sausages were nice and fresh. I’m working in the area so didn’t have much time, if I did these would have gone back!

Dried up chips that I’m sure were cooked the evening before. Tiny tasteless fish. Not worth the £20+ we paid for the meal. Not recommended, much better chippies elsewhere in the area!!

Food cold and food missing after taking my order twice and still got it wrong after being a customer for years this will be the last time I come here do not waste your money and then to top it off there phone number don't work so u can't complain without going back

I moved to Derby 2 years ago and this is my local. I can’t rate them enough! Lovely food and even lovelier people! I often get extra thrown in if I go before closing and they even gave me free chip curry mix when I told them it was for my old lady neighbour friend. Brilliant place brilliant people!

Had a chip butty, small cheap bread cake, chips were soggy and tasted like they had been sat for hours, wasn’t a proper chip shop curry sauce, for £4.70 I expected better

Foolishly ordered again via Deliveroo after vowing to never use this place again. Cold, tiny portions and chips that are all hard bits. Just spent £26 on virtually inedible food. This place used to great but not anymore. Won't be ordering again!!!

Ordered a chicken shish kebab which comes with Pitta and salad. Cost £10 and a 20 minute wait. So I expected something very good. It wasn't good at all. A few withered looking lettuce leaves straight out a bag. No onion , cabbage, cucumber, tomato. Overly spiced chicken. If you can't do a great shish kebab for £10 takeaway then don't offer it. Very disappointed.

Mum, son and me, strolled down after a few drinks in the jonty. Had fish & chips, ordered them open because we decided to sit in the seated area outside.... same feeling as walking on a beach eating, "did we feel common!?....;"lol

Great chips , very busy ! I had the fish goujons chips and curry sauce, take out . Very reasonably priced , generous goujons, enough chips , did have to wait a while for my order , but got served straight away... The goujons were different, was a few weeks back now , so can't actually remember if the batter was unusual or the fish was a mush ... Very clean ! Recommend.

The food was ok on the whole, but our fish 🐠 was cooked and got put in the warm cabinet as deliveroo men came in and they went to them first, so our fish was over cooked. And we ordered large fish, well I’m not kidding it just about passed as a small piece, so there is no way on earth 🌍 we would go back there!!!!🤬

First attempt at ordering through Uber eats was delivered to the wrong address. Second attempt food stone cold. Not the fault of the shop but Uber eats. There will be no further orders from us .

This is our favourite fish and chip place in Derby. We often go on a Thursday night as I believe that’s gluten free night - and think they may change the oil then? It’s usually amazing (five stars) but didn’t quite live up to the usual taste (hence 4 stars this time).

It was stone cold the chips tasted they had been cooked days ago they were that hard you couldn’t eat, the fish was dried up and hard, ordered diet pepsi and got Pepsi max waited almost an hour for the food to arrive. Complete waste of over £25 However, if you walk in food is lovely Give up the delivery or get it done properly.

You know you're at the right place when the queue is out the door .... Everything is cooked fresh and piping hot. The wait was not excessive either.... Will definitely return

Greek shisha kebabs are excellent.

This food was bordering on inedible. Chips rock hard mushy peas a kind of brown watery substance. Fish ok but will not be returning

Second time in a month had food from this once amazing fish and chip shop don't know what's gone wrong but will not be using it again. Poor quality!!! chicken tikka kebab meat Fish cake was over cooked r and small chips just awful more like scraps of potatoes, not cheap either cistv£14. 10 with a sausage. Don't know what's gone wrong Happy to pay if edible but had to throw most of it away. Get it back to how it was. Please. Quality goes out the window when you start having the likes of deliveroo uber, just eats, your local customers suffer poor service.

Once a fine establishment but suffering from inexperienced staff and the waits are seriously ridiculous. I have been served quicker in a Michelin starred restaurant. Seriously need to reconsider my options going forward. Markeaton is far more efficient and always have enough of everything.

Very busy which I think speaks for itself. Quite a wait but that meant food was constantly being freshly cooked. Its a chip shop but as chip shops go the food was very nice and I would go back again.

I've always been here and never had a problem I'd say in the last few months the food is either always good or terrible as one minute it's yummy and then it's not. I've just order tonight which was donner meat with pitta bread and salad the salad looks like it's been there since yesterday the meat is too hard and the pitta is also just the same. Also ordered mayonnaise and its all runny and not even worth it. Will not be coming back as its always the same unless the same people are on but from what I have seen on the reviews there is always new staff every day

I’ve just waited 20 minutes for something that tastes like it was cooked last week. Everything was disgusting. Battered mushrooms were soggy and there was a water explosion when I bit into it, chips tasted and looked days old and dry. Onion rings soggy and wet, curry sauce cold and tasted like powder. This used to be my favourite chip shop. Never going again.

Every time I have fish and chips here I always regret not going to Markeaton Fish + Chips around the corner, it's so much better. The fish and chips are so poor here for the price. Plus I was waiting far too long again, as they are too busy with Deliveroo etc. Friendly young staff though.

Ordered a cod on entry, was cooked a haddock to be told you didn’t have any cod. Settled for pie and chips to be given cold chips so not even getting fresh chips from off even though waiting for fish! In the bin 5 minutes later

Order via a delivery company to be delivered to the shop, you'll get your food sooner than ordering in the shop. Sorry, but won't be back. I'll find somewhere that's appreciates foot fall. Foolishly ordered via Deliveroo after vowing to never use this chippy again. I had Doner meat and chips, my Wife had burger and chips. I received 6 tiny strips of Doner meat and a tiny amount of chips for£9.50. My Wife's burger was a tasteless soggy mess, with again just a few hard, bitty chips. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Been using this chippy regularly for 12 years. The food is excellent. Sadly the decision to massively expand the menu and to run the business in what appears to be badly disorganised and always with new staff makes the waiting time unacceptable. Not worth waiting 20 / 30 minutes for fish and chips! Such a shame as the food is excellent but not worth waiting. They only started even cooking my fish after I had stood waiting for twenty minutes. Staff too busy cooking burgers etc and have forgotten this is a fish and chip shop.

Ordered a kebab with chips and was looking forward to it but delivery was in a stapled up Premier carrier bag which totally soaked the box inside and no sauces at all. Threw away half of it. Not a happy customer and will not bother again.

Ordered large fish and chips via Deliveroo, when it arrived, we had a small fish and sadly no chips, we called Kedlestone Road and after some initial confusion, the manager and staff were only too happy ro help, turns out if you get an incorrect food delivery via deliveroo, you need to reorder via deliveroo again to get it right, a bit off a faff, but the guys and gal at Kedleston fish bar were amazing and even gave us free drinks! Real stars! Thank you! And they scribbled a little note on the box. And I've got to say the curry sauce is out of this world! Now to start that diet!

Had a fish and a donor cob from here never again the fish was burnt and just all batter and the donor cob was a few bits of meat and bits of tomato used to be brilliant never again

Has it been taken over by new staff/management?? Because it USED to do the best homemade fishcakes, today however, it was spot the fish too much potato and full of woody parsley stalks. Also found several dark hairs trapped in the bottom of chips, gross. Massively overpriced also...never again.

This place is so hit and miss. It's a total gamble as to whether you A) get what you actually ordered or B) get food that's edible. Sometimes you get a decent meal, most of the time you get rushed service and badly cooked, greasy food. Today was another case where half of the chips were a dark brown colour and the rest were almost white. Feels like a mix of yesterdays chips refried with todays. Also ordered a chicken and mushroom pie which was rock hard on top and fridge cold in the middle. Again, pretty sure this was from last night's service, half reheated for today. Don't think I'll be ordering again.

Made to wait if you turn up on foot !!. They’re to busy slinging chips at deliveroo and alike leaving you to wait for a SIMPLE curry and chips 25 mins on several occasions . Treated my wife appallingly, never again, ordered, waited for 10 others to be served then server mumbled something about vinegar and then said yeah right probably not anyway then tried to serve the worst looking fish until he got the eyeball. Terrible

Food really good but they cannot get an order correct if ordering more than one meal. Order has been wrong far too many times we are fed up of complaining. Such a shame as you cannot fault the food.

The food is so good here! In fact, it's that good that sometimes they don't have any chicken and mushroom pies left, which makes me sad! The service is mostly great, however, sometimes can be a little slow but then, it can get busy at times. This has got to be my favourite fish and chip shop in Derby!

Says on Google closes at 10pm. Got down there at 925 and the young lad said they closed at 930 as ALL staff were walking out. Very disappointed, especially as it wasn't even 930 and everything was shut down and switched off. Sort it out. Update the times. The place has changed.

Visiting here before and the food was actually ok! Today was a different story Home-made fish cake! Honestly without exaggeration there wasn’t any fish in ours, it was all just potato, Mine also had a hard black thing in it like a stone! The mushy peas were tasteless! Can’t comment on the chips because I didn’t have any! Staff weren’t friendly.

Asked for a chicken burger and was given a chicken burger literally thrown in a a stale wrap. This place is really expensive for what it is, and they can’t even get orders right. Spoke to someone over the phone who said there is an original chicken burger and a chicken burger, hence the word burger. Not a stale wrap.

Sat waiting for basic kebab. Told 10 mins. 20mins. Later after all other food "transporter" companies " been in and out still waiting. Walked out! enjoy my £8.50p Kego fish bar !!! Still waiting for reply!!!

The best F&C I’ve had. Tried our local places and wasn’t happy. Travel quite a way to get food from here. Fish batter is delicious and the chips are gorgeous - not greasy like inexperience in other places. Food is always fresh when we go....
