Me and my fiancé went last night , the food was average , the chicken bites i ordered were too salty and not cooked properly, we went for our engagement anniversary and no one said anything even tho i mentioned it on the booking as they asked what was the occasion. I feel like no one is actually checking what are the request or notes when someone booking in. We’ve been put in a corner of the restaurant where was cold and not good atmosphere. Overall experience a bit disappointed.

Excellent location and very well presented. Staff were great. We were placed at a table at the window with lovely view of Edinburgh. Unfortunately the room was so cold it ruined the whole experience. There also seemed to be a discrepancy between the menu we got and the one on the web site e.g. Butternut squash risotto

Lovely breakfast at Loudons on Sibald Walk. We really enjoyed the savoury pea and chilli pancakes and the smoked salmon hollandaise. The coffee was also really nice. Service was warm and friendly, and very attentive to our needs. Atmosphere was pretty dead for such a big café; there were only 3 tables full, but it was a Tuesday morning.

I have been to this cafe a few times when staying in Morningside, I ordered 2 fried eggs on toast which was £8.95. I received 1 slice of toast with what I can only describe as 2 smashed overcooked fried eggs. A good fried egg should have a runny yolk. Very disappointed 1 slice of bread 2 eggs and a small salad for £8.95 you would think you would at least get 2 slices of bread and descently cooked eggs. I didn’t complain as I was in a hurry but why would you send the eggs out like that if you know how to cook an egg?

Me and my wife wandered in after a meal down the road, we are glad we did! The decor was lovely, the staff attentive and the drinks flowed. The service was good, table only, due to restrictions but this wasn't an issue. The young gent serving us was chatty, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a mixture or cocktails and beers, all great, the prices are also reasonable. Would recommend, a little out of the way but worth a visit!

We've been to groats before when it was a pop-up, we were over the moon when it found a permanent home, then not so happy when they announced they were moving. On that note, we had to go back and try it again! Famous for it's porridge, we went for one porridge and one French toast. Two refillable coffees to wash it down. The French toast was perfect, thick sliced and perfectly cooked. When you do something so good, keep doing it - this is groats all over. Will be looking out for when they next find a home.

Severely overpriced, especially considering the quality of the food. The risotto was overcooked and soggy, the burger was alright but so disproportionately heated that my partner burned her mouth once she bit into the patty. The staff were perfectly polite, but all looked tired, avoided each other and looked like they didn't want to be there, music was barely audible, the atmosphere overall was nonexistent. In short: very low quality severely overpriced diner vibes. 🤷🏼♀️
