The starters, steaks and sides were so tasty. The live singer was a lovely addition. The best food on our trip to Edinburgh! 10/10

Visited a few times and the food has been second to none every time. Starters are interesting and always great so would recommend trying as many as possible. Steaks are also fantastic and always cooked well! Only downside is that it is quite expensive and prices seemed to rise in August on an already expensive menu.

Fantastic food, clear some time and come hungry. Food was a cut above , staff vigilant and friendly, and dessert worth leaving space for even the coffee is a rich roast to savour. Do try Bao buns and The Steak.

We booked Le Petit Beef Bar after hearing so many great reviews, but we were so disappointed. From the moment we arrived the service was shocking. We had deliberated leaving and going elsewhere, but decided to give the restaurant a chance. Our waiter asked if we had any allergies. I mentioned that I had a dairy allergy (which had been put on the booking note), and was made to feel like a major inconvenience. Our waiter sighed and crossed their arms, asking if it was an allergy or simply an intolerance. They briefly ran through a couple of the menu options, stating I could have a the two salads without cheese, and none of the sauces. They really did not fill us with much confidence as to what I could or couldn’t eat. I have never been made to feel like such a burden. We had been staying at The Caledonian, and the service there had been phenomenal, so it was a complete 180 going to Le Petit Beef Bar. We ordered some cocktails which were lovely (the only good part of the meal). The food arrived no more than 10 minutes after ordering, before we had the chance to finish our cocktails or before our wine had arrived. We had to ask the waiters twice for the wine before it was eventually brought over. I ordered the miso black beef, which tasted okay but was stone cold and chewy, and the fries were soggy and cold. My partner ordered the meatballs which came with mash (and also a hair!). Both of which were also cold, and the mash was liquid. We informed our waiter of this, and a few moments letter received the food on warm plates, but the food was still cold. The portion sizes were also tiny considering the price! The Pinot Noir had clearly been corked, as it smelled awful & was undrinkable. By this point we just wanted to leave the restaurant, so didn’t finish our meal and asked for the bill. The waiter asked how our meal was, and their explanation was that the kitchen was simply running behind (which makes no sense considering how quickly our food came out!). We left hungry & disappointed, and went elsewhere for food. Luckily we knew we were going back to the Caledonian, so it didn’t ruin the evening completely. If you are thinking of booking here, do consider going elsewhere, as there are plenty of restaurants which are miles better in Edinburgh!

This was a lovely restaurant attached to the hotel, Intercontinental George. It was convenient and it was lovely. We had reservations and were seated promptly. It took a little while to have someone take our order and much longer to get our food, but the food was excellent! We were not disappointed at all. It did take a long time for server to bring our bill even after asking for it twice. Not sure why as they were not terribly busy. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant, the food was wonderful and they also had live music, which was great!

A must visit, my husband and I went for lunch and cannot wait to return. Staff attentive and knowledgeable but not overbearing. Food was exquisite, such incredible flavours. It was so good we forgot to take photos!! Will 100% definitely be back.

The food was very tasty. The only thing that wasn't so cool: instead of the fixed lunch for 29 pounds, we were charged separately for the starter and main course, which is 48 pounds. Quite a difference. And we had to wait 30 minutes for food

Le Petit Beefbar Lunch at 13.30 on November 15th Last week my wife and myself had lunch at the George Hotel as a birthday treat for my wife. Following our visit I was asked for comment on social media of our dining experience. I would not submit my comments publicly as I don't think that would be fair to The George. I was a frequent patron of the hotel many years ago and don't want to post social media negative reviews but I'm happy to share them with you. Let me say firstly that none of my comments reflect on the serving staff as they were attentive and polite. Our issue was with the food and beverage. The burger my wife had was in the style of a McDonald's burger and didn't take much better. It was also just warm enough to eat. I had the salmon on a copper grill burning charcoal. I wanted it cooked through which is was not and it also was just warm enough. To finish we had cold coffee's that we had to return. Talking about cold. The restaurant was the coldest part of the whole hotel that we spent time in that also made the experience disappointing. I wanted your to know this directly as you can pass this on. We will be back in The George over the festive season so we haven't fallen out. Yours sincerely, John Moodie

Daylight robbery is the best way to describe our experience here. We booked to have a jazz lunch to celebrate our anniversary. I am vegan so carefully checked the menu in advance and although a beef restaurant may not seem like the obvious choice, my husband loves meat and they had a fantastic option on the menu for me and I had noted on the booking that I was vegan so we were really looking forward to it. When we went to order I was told that the vegan option was not available as the company that suppled them, Redefine Meat had gone out of business and they had not sourced an alternative yet. Our waiter checked with the kitchen and advised they could offer me a cauliflower steak instead which I was fine with. What arrived was a whole head of cauliflower with absolutely no flavour at all, the only seasoning was a sprinkling of salt on the very top but nothing had been done to it other than that, 2 pieces of broccoli, a few sad looking pieces of carrot, again with no flavour (I think the non vegan option was honey glazed), a few roast potatoes which were fine and a bright red 'gravy' that was so sweet it was inedible. My Husband had the Sunday roast and said it was okay except for having a burnt Yorkshire pudding. So aside from average to poor food, there was no jazz, a man was played a couple of songs on a piano then left, the wait staff while friendly were inexperienced. We were told by one that he couldn't pour the wine without spilling it and the other had been the one to tell me the vegan meat company had gone out of business (this was a lie as I have contacted the company and been assured this is not the case). The beef roast was £36 and the vegan roast was £34 for ingredients that can't have cost more than £2. Along with the £40 wine and service charge we paid about £120. Our waiter was fully aware of the issues with our meal and even said he was dreading talking to us as it was obvious to him that it was terrible. My husband contacted Le Petite Beefbar direct to tell them of our experience and was told to let them know when we were coming back so they could make sure we had a good time. Firstly, they should have made it right at the time by reducing the bill when they knew we were very unhappy and one of us unfed, secondly, it shouldn't take advising in advance that we are coming to ensure they provide decent service, surely that is something every customer should expect and thirdly, why they would think we would return there again is beyond me. We walked out after spending £120 and went straight to another restaurant for a meal as I was so hungry. I would not waste your money here, there are plenty great roasts to be had in Edinburgh for a fraction of the price.

Great restaurant with very welcoming staff.

I would simply call this a tourist trap. I would expect a wagyu beef to be marmorized. Half my steak was fat and the other half was meat. Though the meat was OK, i was was a bit dissappointed. My friend ordered a double a so called "smash burger". It was really two pucks of compact meat. Taste was so so... The wagyu set me back 60pounds! The room that we sat in was really bright at 9pm in the evening. So, for me, this is not a place to hold your breath for. It feels like this place dont know where to place their bet as they put too many different kitchens on their menu like japanese, mexican, turkish, italian and so on. None of the dishes really met our expectations. If you still choose this place, don’t save it for a dining experience or "the night" out.

Good food and atmosphetr. They add their own service charge of 12.5% on the total which I am not very fond of and not suiting.

The service was initially too slow but once they remembered I was there things improved and I liked that they made recommendations. I got three small plates and the quality was very good - including the best bao buns I've ever had. The bar atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. It was quite pricey.

Great food,service and atmosphere!!

Ended up taking up our wonderful waiter Fin on his recommendations and he did not disappoint one bit . With all fairness the marbled wagu steak I can honestly say was one of the best I’ve ever had during all my travels across the globe and the traditional mash was a meal by itself . Ending the dinner with the French toast was a great finale to an exceptional experience . Keep up the good work .

Lovely food and wine and very friendly service. It was quite quiet in there which is why the atmosphere score is not higher. The toilets are miles away from the restaurant which I guess is because it’s part of an hotel but is slightly odd.

Might have just had the best Cesar salad ever! It had kobe beef that they made into crispy flakes. At first I thought it was bacon or prosciutto but nope. Kobe beef. Delish!

The Food was amazing, especially the baby quesadillas, simply spectacular. The soufflé and the cheesecake were a must try. However the highlight of the experience was the service. I would like to say a massive thank you to Maria who was very kind and polite and helpful for us. Even when we had asked her a weird question about whether we could buy the emoji plates that the food was served on, she was was very helpful and didn’t criticize us.

We have been in the UK for two weeks and tonight we had dinner at Le Petit Beef bar and it was the best meal we have had in the entire trip. It was exceptional quality and the presentation was excellent.

Amazing Sunday Roast. Great to be able to share between family, friends and couples. We have one beef roast and one chicken roast and both were cooked perfectly.

The service is always second to none here. Knowledgeable and really lovely, helpful staff who seem invested in you enjoying your evening. You are never rushed and the food is always delicious and well presented.

We were tourist in the area, and we were craving some steaks, found here without booking, but they were very kind letting us seating in the bar area. We had signature NY and fritis, sauteed mushrooms, seasoning veggies. Everything was great and well seasoned! Recommended!

The service was outstanding! Attentive, everything arrived quickly without feeling rushed and very nice staff. The food was amazing, highly recommend the signature sauce with the steak frites. The ice cream for two dessert was absolutely delicious, generous and beautifully presented. Beautiful place, a bit on the loud side but that's to be expected on a saturday night. Would recommend this place for sure!

We went for dinner for our friend’s birthday. What a wonderful evening. Service first class, food exceptional. Would highly recommend the quesadillas as a starter and the steaks were so tender and cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

Excellent pub menu, delicious meat good service, beautiful setting in International Edinburgh, first we dined at the restaurant. The last day of our trip we stopped over at the pub bar for a drink , which dad the same menu as the restaurant we end up dining again ☺️

Fabulous 👌 Expensive but the food is superb. Great choice of starters, main course and desserts. One of the best steaks I've had, the chicken dishes were succulent too. Must be one of the best eateries in Edinburgh. Highly recommend

We are staying at the Intercontinental Hotel and the concierge there is awesome, we mentioned we were in the mood for a steakhouse and he recommended we try this spot. Right from the get go the experience was awesome we were able to sit right down we walked in around 5:30pm. We started with the mini burgers, then I had the filet with peppercorn crust and she had the Wagu, also got all of the sauces on the side to try. There wasn’t one bite of food left when we were done everything was outstanding. Also had the spicy tequila drink if you like a spicy cocktail it’s a must try. If I was back in the area and wanted a steakhouse I would highly recommend this spot!

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Attentative server, Food was first class and really tasteful. Saw the work carried out by my son who installed the electrical works in the bar and restaurant. Great decor and surroundings would highly recommend visiting the Le Petit Beef Bar

Great service. My flank steak wasn’t cooked as I ordered and without having the time to say anything , I was told another flank steak was on the way (on the house) . The service was impeccable. The place looks nice, clean and cosy. I strongly recommend it.

Excellent dinner option! Wonderful food, very friendly service and the place is very beautiful!

I wanted to love this place but the food was very over seasoned. Also, a bunch of my friends fell out of the tin and the person bringing the food didn’t address it or offer to bring more. The steak was well cooked but so salty I couldn’t taste anything else (including the pepper sauce I ordered with it) Additionally the rock corn was so salty I had to stop eating it.

Service was impeccable. The food, however, was not. I ordered the “ultimate smash burger” which was very dry and solid for what was advertised as a “smash” burger. The steak was fine, but the pepper sauce tasted more like bbq sauce. We also had the baby quesadillas which again were fine but absolutely not worth the price, KFC chicken was also overcooked. If it hadn’t been for the service provided by the waiters and this review relied solely on the quality of the food it would have been a one star.

We had a lovely time! Started at the bar for a few mocktails and then headed to the restaurant. The food was great. I would really recommend the jambon d’entrecote which was simply amazing! if you go for the steak frites, the petit beefbar sauce is great and the meat is lovely. We had a NY strips and honestly, just great! We shared a chocolate souffle for the dessert and again, it was lovely. Slighlty disappointed that there was no cheese option, but overall, we had a great time!

Do not go to this restaurant if you are celebrating. We went and were asked to keep the noise down by the rude manager. Very disappointed and expected better after attending many times before ! We won’t be back !

We went for dinner on our last night in Edinburgh and I was really surprised by the quality of the food and the great service. The food was 10 and I will definitely repeat if I return to the city.

The food is very delicious. The best thing was the Japanese steak. It melts in the mouth.

We love the venue. Lovely classy feel to it. I was looking forward to the normal steak and frites but since the menu change the presentation of the dish was different. The steak I asked for was medium rare and it came barely pink. Lovely flavours, just a bit disappointing. Staff were lovely , especially loved the American female bar tender. At times, the restaurant staff gave us information overload and it was hard to reply to them, have space. Other than that, it was a nice night out

We had an amazing time! The food was outstanding! Best fillet steak ive ever had and i choose it often! We even got complementary Prosecco as it was their birthday! Lovely attentive staff too

It was my daughters graduation dinner. This says a lot for our emotional condition. It was good but the group next to us was shouting and really not behaving well. Nice menu, service could be faster. But try it.

Went for other half birthday. Got nothing special for the occasion. Compulsory 12.5% tip for ridiculous prices. £95 steak asked for medium and was well done around the edges. Full of tourists would not go back

Finally I have found a top top quality steak in Edinburgh ! We have been disappointed many times In our search but Le petit beef bar is just amazing ! From the quality of staff and service , to the decor to the wonderful menu and most importantly the quality of the meat is was a wonderful wonderful experience. Moussa and his staff should be very proud they treated us well wonderfully and our family visiting from Brazil (where top quality meat is very common ) we’re blown away too. We 100 percent will be back. Ps the truffle mash is to die for ♥️

OMG! Just had the center cut ribeye and after 57 years of being on this planet and visiting many many fine steakhouses, this is the absolute best piece of meat I have ever had! My wife had the veal and wagyu pappardelle and we had this 45 day aged prosciutto / mozzarella sandwich thing as an appetizer and it was all amazing! Great service by Kendyl and Olane as well!

Really enjoyed our dinner. The service was good and the food was very tasty, each bite was full with delicious flavours. The restaurant is in very nice historical building. We definitely would come back.

My father had a food poisoning at this restaurant. Me and my mother feel nauseous. I am livid as this was a special occasion for my family. You would not expect it from this kind of place. This was one of the unexpected highlights from our trip to Edinburgh. We had the Burger Bomb and the Paradise Pepper Filet. They were both delicious. Our server was nice and respectful, but they seemed to be slightly understaffed. Definitely recommend.

One of the best eating experiences in Edinburgh. Firstly, the food is fresh and delicious, and for me it is one of the best Beef Bar branches I have eaten in🤤. The salads are very delicious, the steak and fries are also delicious. The place is elegant, elegant and clean. The service is fantastic💖 Unfortunately, we did not take the honorable host’s name, but he was really nice. With us and with the children, he was professional and keen to explain all our needs and made an exceptional effort to show us the halal dishes from the menu 🌟👏🏼

It’s wrong to order a burger at a steakhouse but their “burger bomb” really is THE BOMB 💣 ! Top notch place, top notch people, top notch service 🙌

Nice enough but very overpriced and lacking quality in comparison to other steak restaurants in Edinburgh. Ribeye was surprisingly dull in flavour and when adding a little sauce it was then all you could taste. Decent cocktails and wine and service was good. Live music/singers is a nice touch but let down by poor sound quality of the speakers or microphones. If you want a good ‘high-end’ steak, stick with Kyloe, Hawksmoor, or even the Dakota Hotel.

Really lovely Sunday lunch. Very accessible for wheelchair users.

I spent my birthday dinner at Le Petit Beefbar. Great decision to do so! Service was excellent, wine was delicious and the food was the best I’ve had since arriving in Edinburgh. Highly recommend!

The best steak in Edinburgh , we absolutely loved our dining experience. The tacos and KFC were brilliant starters. The chateaubriand with pepper sauce and fries was the highlight paired with an awesome full bodied Malbec. 10/10 and the French toast was perfect. The staff was so considerate and attentive. We will be back for another special occasion.

Food and service were good, only one small complaint. We were visiting for my partners birthday (stated on the booking) and I had also called ahead to request a birthday desert which we did not receive.

Our waiter Alistair looked after us with great humour and patience, and contributed to making a fantastic evening. He explained to us details of the dishes and the wine available! The cocktail list had great selections (including a full set of mocktails), and individual liquors of various sorts were also available. The wine list was extensive without being too much to process. LPB works from a shared plate philosophy, both for starters and for mains (e.g., a beef rib-eye carved in slices so that all can have some). We'd had a late lunch for our party of five, so we went with four starters and a medium-sized main, with a side. That was the perfect amount. (We also then added dessert, which was fine, too.) Food imagination and quality was quite good. Service was attentive and fun. Ambience was pleasant and elegant. Net-net, the whole thing was pretty pricey (around 50 GBP a piece), but we thought it was worth it. And though it was very convenient (especially in a rainstorm) to dine there as we were staying at the George, I'd make an effort to return on a future stay in Edinburgh.

Treated a friend to lunch here for her birthday. Service wasn’t overly attentive, which was ok - a little bit ‘dumping plates’ and leaving us to it. Food was outstanding - the steak frites is absolutely superb. When the bill came, the waiter announced the amount … never experienced that in a restaurant before; I would have said something at the time but I was so taken aback that I didn’t. Disappointing, especially when the food is so good!

The atmosphere soon as you walk in is vibrant but relaxed. The service was brilliant. The food was amazing as always. The Jalapeño mash was so creamy, truffle fries amazing and the steaks were cooked perfectly. I was worried it would not be the same standard as Beef Bar in Monaco but it was. A nice touch of live music whilst eating.

This was our second visit to La petit beef bar, so knew how high the standards were however on this occasion our experience was made better by Finn the waiter! With his great charisma and good energy made me and my girlfriends evening that bit more special.

One of the best places to eat in Edinburgh. Food pretty much flawless. Panettone with the Kobe Beef Jamón maybe the best thing I’ve ever tasted.

Excellent service and food, a good ambiance with a roving saxophone player, I like that they haven't jammed the establishment with as many tables as possible to try and increase capacity, so you don't feel your "personal space" is being encroached upon which makes for a better dining experience. It was also very good that the chef realised our steak was slightly overcooked and had already started preparing a replacement, touches like that make a positive impression. We will definitely be back, overall a very good experience

Had been given a voucher and a recommendation to visit so last night we did. Table was reserved for 7pm. Restaurant looked lovely, maybe 6 tables were being used at that time but 1st hiccup came - we were shown to a table very close to another couple, so close we could have joined each others conversation - we refused that table for both parties privacy. I don’t get that other than it’s less of an area for the server to walk?? We finally were offered a table on our own- which was ideal. The service in my opinion was actually too fast, we could have been in and out in less than an hour having a shared starter, mains and a coffee. When you pay £160 for your meal, you want it to last a bit longer than an hour. We shared a big K, which was a nice starter. Filet and Cauliflower with salad and veg. Coffee and expresso martini. The food, was nice but not fantastic, service too fast so could improve would be my suggestion.

Really nice venue. Edinburgh Ponsiness at its best. More staff than customers and prices that could potentially induce a Coronary. The food menu is classically designed to tempt but not fill. Although go to Ponsi places you get Ponsi food. If you can afford it and are not really hungry, then this is your spot.

This was our first visit here for the Sunday roast dinner! Such an amazing experience staff were friendly, service was efficient and live piano and saxophone. Food was incredible we will definitely be back!

Has been redecorated since it was the George hotel and we loved the new decor. Cosy, and stylish. We had a couple of AMAZING cocktails in the bar, before heading through to the restaurant. We had a selection of sharing starters which were so good I actually asked for some more! I loved the quirkiness of the menu, it had so much more than the usual run of the mill steak house menu. The maitre d’ was attentive and helpful when we asked for some guidance with deciding on what steak to have for our main course. The steaks we chose were some of the best cooked steaks we have ever had - high praise indeed from my chef husband!! I struggled with pudding as I was so so full but gave it my best shot and so glad I did - it was to die for. We can’t wait to go back again!

Popped in for an initial recce as it looks ike a place I might like to go to with clients. First impressions was not as busy as I would have expected. One of the reasons for this is that the outside is padlocked shut until 12.30pm and there is no mention of the opening hours outside. (Why?) I went elsewhere and returned at 1.10pm. Still only a fifth full. But that's okay - easy to get a seat. The menu is heavily focused towards meat as you would expect - but it is wideranging and decent value. I went for the Lunch Special. Veal steak with frites, their signature LPB sauce and a side salad. Wine is cheekily priced and only comes in small, medium or a bottle. For a solo lunch this poses a dilemma. A small is too small. A medium is still too small and a bottle is too much. I went for medium x 2. £11 a glass, but the Shiraz was first class. Back to the food. The veal steak was delicious and perfectly cooked - but personally would have preferred the sauce warm or hot, not room temperature. The frites were great. Hot and crisp. The salad with walnuts, spinach , parmesan, apple, green beans and pomegranate seeds - truly magnificent. And all this for just £27. Service was top notch and comes with a discretionary, but already added, 12.5%. I was going to tip anyway. A wonderful lunch which I look forward to having again soon.
