It seems to have had it’s time in the sun . 2016 -19 . Then I don’t know maybe there have been significant management changes and obviously the personal have changed . Now you get served by brats speaking American English and taking glee in conveying how many greedy price increases they have made . There used to be many friendly staff . The price quality ratio was fair . No longer do they offer tables to sit in . It sums up the hostile changes . I think the only people who will no keep going are Gaurdian readers who just go for the social status kudos . I bought a morning pastery being told it was fresh it tasted stale and worse then any supermarket one. I’m glad it cost three pounds only other products were ridiculously more expensive.

they finish baking at 930am everyday, wait for it to cool and start serving at 10am. Some of the items are out at 845 tho, though not the whole selection The sourdough baguette has too much of a bite for me, it's very crusty. If you slice it I think it's going to be pleasant Croissants were somewhat chewy, not the super flaky kind. Nothing particularly wrong, it's decent

Couldn’t refrain from entering this bakery just because they finished baking some bread as we entered. The pastries were delicious, airy, soft and tasty. I got the chocolate bun. I loved the fact that you can see the big bags of flours they use to make the bread.

Bread was lovely, if a little overpriced. Felt the person who served us seemed slightly abrupt but would certainly return for the lovely loaf.

Excellent French bakery, with bread that looks amazing! Was passing by and feeling peckish, so went in and ordered one of their mini pizza's and quiche. Staff are very friendly, and while I was only in a few minutes, people were coming and going simply to get their freshly baked bread. Will most certainly be back again if in the area.

What a revelation. Superb baguette, delicious and quite intense quiche. Warm service. I’ll be queuing outside at 0845 on a regular basis!

I make a special trip to get their excellent baguettes. Incredibly fresh and authentic.

Bread of heaven; bread of heaven; feed me till I want no more!! Bought a still-warm country loaf this morning, wow it’s good. Lovely place, what more can you ask for? Newington is blessed to have The Wee Boulangerie. No excuses to get your bread from a certain supermarket across the road ;)

Just been here, visiting Edinburgh, staying nearby, wanted to try it out. The person serving was really rude. We only asked how they were. Apparently, being asked that many times a day wears thin!

Our favourite Bakery. It's half an hour away from us but we still make it a point to travel every second week if not every week. People who serve you are so friendly. They make your day by the way they treat you and through their amazing pastries.

I went there for two consecutive mornings. The almond croissant is among the best I’ve ever had. The croissant is good as well! Love the buttery taste.

Almost exactly like a nice French bakery, but in Scotland. They've even got that sweet briochey smell. Definitely the place for your southside pastry needs.

A traditional French bakery in Edinburgh. The bread is the best in the city by quite a long way, if you like it straight from the oven, there are clear times posted for baking. Not a vast range and nothing chi-chi, hipster or fancy. This is straight forward excellence with no cant. Their chocolate buns, almond croissants and cheesy bites are not half bad either.

A very small but lovely bakery that does great coffee. Stopped in on our way to town and the staff were very friendly and the smell of fresh bread was very enticing.

I eat two things, a croissant, and a chocolate bun. I say, one of the best Croissant that eat in the world, Crispy, fresh, and full of taste. The lady was quite friendly.

Great wee shop, most of the bread is vegan. They even have a sweet vegan bun, occasionally. Everything is made onsite from base ingredients, flour, water yeast. All the bread is delicious.

Very nice sourdough, if you can pay by card or the person behind the counter is good and lets you pay by cash. Not sure if that is due to covid situation or not but denying cash payments bars some people who don’t have or prefer not to use a card from buying there. Outside of that, great place

The best breads we have found in the city. Small but worth every product. Proper croissants and very nice quiche as well. Staff always lovely and kind.

I love the produce from this baker... some of the best sourdough I've tasted and the carrot cake is amazing.. THE best I've tasted. It sells out quickly. The brownie is good too. I think it's a bit on the expensive but worth it as its a top quality product and you can tell the produce is make with top ingredients.

Tremendous wee bakery. Went in for fougasse which they don't have just now but came out with a very tasty sourdough baguette, a couple of oven warm savoury pastries and a bun. Everything was incredibly fresh and friendly people too

The worst macaroons I ate and croissant was so stale and crunchy. For a box of macaroons and one croissant I paid £9.50. Disappointment. Nothing is French about that place kindling by the quality of cakes and pastries 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

A wonderful local spot! Great bread and pastries, and very friendly. They also have lovely macarons, and sometimes very nice vegan options.

An amazing place to get sourdough - all of their breads are good, but they do have a lot of sourdough breads and it’s a specialty of theirs. Friendly staff that offers good recommendations. Can’t wait to come back!

Many places claim to sell a French baguette, this is the only place in Edinburgh that actually does. The chew, the crust and the flavour are all there. I will definitely be returning to try out their other breads and delicious looking cakes.

Terrific bakery, good selection of breads at a reasonable price point. 6 grain sourdough has been my favourite one so far. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Good Covid practices in place too

I had 2 pieces of a very good vegetable quiche with a buttery aroma that was hot from the oven. However, when I saw him cut one slice, I knew it wouldn't suffice and asked him to cut another. While it was very nice, the price makes it an occasional indulgence.

I was super impressed with the croissant (buttery, crisp exterior, light interior) and the cinammon bun. Carrot cake is nice and moist and not too sweet. Excellent cream cheese frosting.

The quiche was very small (10 cm x 8cm x 2cm), especially for the price. I hope it was a one time mistake. Pastries are ok, considering it's not France, bread is very good and staff is very friendly.

The bread here is delicious. I used to live next door and I miss the days where I could buy a loaf every week.

Good bread as fresh but goes dry/hard quick. Not best pastries as they also get hard too quickly. Would recommend for getting a baguette or our fave french white - which is heaven I must say! We have visited the shop multiple times as we leave close and tbh we were much more excited about the products at the beginning. We still do recommend it, but it’s not the best you can get and the stuff is not too friendly, rushing clients because of the queue or just simply being grumpy. It seems because they have many clients they just take them for granted and treat them not as they should.

Nous avons fait le détour au vu des commentaires plutôt positifs sur cet endroit. Nous avons été plutôt déçus. Nous mettons quand même deux étoiles car ce n'était pas très cher. Nous avons uniquement goûté les viennoiseries, honnêtement on est loin des avis dithyrambique qu'on peut lire. Les croissants sont sans intérêt. Je n'ai pas pour habitude de mettre des commentaires moyens mais là franchement c'était ni bon ni mauvais. Sans intérêt.

Lovely little bakery with a few tables for sitting in. Had a delicious chocolate roll and a cappuccino and bought a rye sourdough loaf and two mini pizza things to take away. Both were yummy. Lady behind the counter was very nice and friendly. Atmosphere was hot and steamy (it's a bakery!) and full of delicious smells.

Franchement le pain est excellent, je suis pas française mais mon pote l’est et il a dit qu’il a eu Lons-le-Saunier dans la bouche pour quelques instants ahahah.

We stopped here in April and were pleased to find an authentic boulangerie with long-fermentation sourdough breads. A small and comfortable space, we were happy to sit there for an hour before beginning our day of sightseeing.

Let's be honest: it's twice the price and not as good as even your average boulangerie in France. But it's still a world away from supermarket bread, so I'll happily stop by every couple weeks as a treat.

The shop is closed till 21st of July. It's not stated even on their website.

Delicious breads and pastries at incredible prices! I've been buying supermarket baguettes, but no more-- now that I know I can get french quality baguettes for two pounds or less, I'll never buy supermarket bread again! Incredibly friendly staff, willing to sell me an existing half a baguette and explain some of the less familiar breads. Good food as well, but not much space (2 tables). Bread specials on Saturday. Worth waiting until the afternoon, as the sourdough doesn't come out until 12 pm. A delicious gem!
