Burgers were average and a 45 minute wait for food on a quiet Tuesday lunch time

The burgers here are amazing. What really made us happy was the customer service and how friendly they were to families. A combination of good food and child friendly place is a rare find in Edinburgh nowadays.

Staff was very welcoming, in spite of our 3 young kids :-) We spent a very good moment there, enjoying the food (tasty burgers) and the beer, in a nice, cosy and friendly atmosphere. Very good.

What a find walked past this place numerous times . It was cold out so decide to give it a go . What a find...the place warm inviting . Food what can I say . . The chips best I have ever had ...hard to describe them . Go find out yourself . The beer selection is something for everyone. Had the original burger woooow. Flavour was amazing...to compliment the burger. The side coleslaw ..it's was the best I have ever... tasted , flavour you can't fault it. Best find to-date.. definitely returning. Keep up the good work .highly recommend this gem.

Good selection. Plenty seats, not comfy seats but plenty of them. Faor service and nice and warm. All round a fine experience.

The Holyrood 9A estaba cerca de nuestro hotel y, lamentablemente, lo probamos el último día. ¡Qué pena no haberlo descubierto antes! La experiencia fue excelente de principio a fin. Las hamburguesas y el postre estaban riquísimos, con ingredientes de calidad y una presentación muy cuidada. El servicio también fue de diez: nos atendieron rápido, el camarero fue muy amable, y el ambiente era perfecto, relajado y bien cuidado. Si estás por la zona, no cometas nuestro error y no esperes al último día para visitarlo. Sin duda, un sitio para repetir.

These guys do the best breakfast in total comfort. Best pot of tea in Scotland....

Had a break here, huge beer options (you can taste before you order -I was looking for local ales, the super friendly bar tender helped with advice) I didn't get food so I can't rate this... The atmosphere is very nice...

Estuve en este bar / restaurante muchas veces cuando visitamos Edimburgo. Normalmente tenemos nuestro perro con nosotros, ya que este lugar es extremadamente agradable para los perros! En esta ocasión no tuvimos nuestro perro. La comida es genial, es sabrosa comida de pub siempre bien presentada, los precios son buenos. El ambiente es muy relajado y el personal es muy amable y servicial. Gran ubicación también.

My husband and I stopped at this cosy little pub to have a drink and a snack. We ordered the haggis bon bons and the hummus and olives with flat bread. Both were absolutely scrumptious. I ordered a glass of Malbec and my husband did a whisky flight. William was our waiter and he was incredible. Highly recommend for service, food and ambience.

As a tourist to Edinburgh, I was shocked about the under 5 rule that doesn't allow youths in lots of pubs. But Holyrood 9A has a changing table and allows under 5s. While I was there multiple issues with plenty of kids were eating. The food was great and the drink selection was nice

Nos unimos a algunos amigos que habían reservado una mesa para la cena y el personal estaba encantado de alojarnos también. Buena selección de hamburguesas y cervezas / vino. Fue por la hamburguesa haggis y la hamburguesa vegetariana haggis - ambos deliciosos. Buenas opciones vegetarianas y veganas. Las papas fritas son como cucharadas para que puedas juntar la ensalada con ellas. Recomendaría para comer algo en el centro de Edimburgo.

The burgers here were excellent and there was a great choice of beer on tap. I had one of the Whisky flights and the little tasting note card made it a brilliant choice. It was Dog friendly and the waiters were really nice and friendly too

Very nice atmosphere, some good service, but the burger really is quite bad :/ I was there a few times back 6-7 years ago when i lived in Edinburgh, i think their quality has very much declined!

Walked in on a whim and had some delicious food and fantastic service. The entire staff were warm and welcoming I appreciated their attention to detail.

Lovely burgers and salads. Nice staff and a pleasant and cozy background. You can eat here with children, which is a plus. Reasonable price.

Nice pub with a cozy atmosphere, outside the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh. We discovered a nice beer (staff let us taste a few beers), the cocktails tasted good and we even tried fried pickle. Recommended!

A wonderful surprise. A very relaxed and cozy pub to drink and eat something (and stay away from the royal Mile crowd)

The restaurant serves mainly hamburgers, but there is a big variety of options. The waiters were extremely kind and helpful. The atmosphere inside was really special in my opinion, the only thing I could complain about is that the meat was a little burnt, but still it tasted pretty good.

Great burgers (it is mostly burgers), service was good, and the ambience was nice. We had two quieter nights there, but it was really enjoyable. Dog friendly, too, which was brilliant

'wide range of 25 Craft Beers', expected a wide range of craft beers but was disappointed as most are common beers you can get at many pubs. Erdinger, Madri, tenents and Pauliner and not craft, a rough calculation would say 10 craft beers. The place was warm, staff were welcoming, food looked good.

Fantastic wee pub - great selection of draught beers including sours. Nirvana played at their sister pub 'the Southern' - but they couldn't be arsed heading to the grassmarket.

I went to Holyrood 9a with some visitors for a meal and such a shame the burgers were so poor. They were dry, bun quite stale, (tasting like few days old), overall not very tatsy. I used to live in the area few years ago and visited the pub frequently then as the burgers used to be good. Good for beers, not good for food.

Great selection of beers! The burgers are very tasty (I tried the cheese and bacon), although a bit dry. The regular fries were great but the sweet potato were a bit soggy. Feels very cosy inside, especially on a rainy evening. Very dog friendly! The waiter brought our dog a water bowl and a little plate with treats immediately after we sat down.

Very good burgers. We've been disappointed a few times over the last few days, but not here. The meat is fried to perfection, chic garnish and also good beer. My vegi Haggisburger was exceptional and tasted absolutely fantastic.

I really enjoyed the original burger (without the sauce since it contains alchol), nice service and nice cozy place, great thanks to Salima for her great hospitality and help The food is delicious and the atmosphere is nice inside the restaurant I ordered the Origal burger from them (without the sauce because it contains alcohol), and it was delicious and the service was fast. The employee, Salima Marra, was helpful and helped me choose halal food

Visited last night after a festival show. Thankfully we remembered to book. First time , very impressive. Staff were amazing . Friendly welcome. Made you feel welcome and wanted throughout. The food was excellent. I had the Holyrood 9A Burger which was packed full of flavour cooked to perfection . Great value My wife had a BBQ version also superb. Drinks normal town prices. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

The team here was knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed the burgers and even the Haggis. It was great, especially on a rainy day.

Huge selection of beers with many on tap. My favorites are the Peach Melba Sour and the Tempest Long White Cloud. Had the Haggis Burger and Bacon Cheeseburger. Haggis was delicious, the beef on the other burger was thick and a tad dry but overall had a nice time there. My American taste buds just may be picky about my burgers, so give it a try regardless of my review.

Nous nous sommes arrêtés dans cette brasserie suite aux bons avis que nous avons pu lire et franchement très déçus. Nous avions commandé deux bières, la mienne était chaude, ce qui n'était pas agréable du tout. De plus, nous étions placés dans un endroit très exigu alors que le restaurant était loin d'être plein. D'ailleurs l'emplacement était tellement exigu et pas pratique, qu'au moment de nous servir, la serveuse nous a fait tomber de la bière sur les vêtements. Concernant la cuisine, nous avions commandé deux burgers et deux desserts, rien d'exceptionnel, les frites étaient froides et le haggis très gras. Des restaurants bien meilleurs et moins chers à quelques pas seulement. Malheureusement, je ne recommande pas.

Nice little place; quite busy. We were feeling a bit under the weather the day we stopped in, so the option of ordering small servings of beer was appreciated.

Great burger and great craft beer. One of the few places that had sours but they also had a great varied selection. The manager even allowed us to taste other selections from the draft as well. The entire staff was friendly, Homey and comfortable.

We found the drinks really good, the food absolutely mediocre to bad. The burgers were boring and the fries simply didn't taste good. The ambience was ok. Somehow everything seemed a bit dingy. I'm sure there are better burger places in Edinburgh.

We were last here three years ago - and unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. The burgers are still OK, but they used to be better. The food as a whole was a bit bland. The service is still very friendly.

Had a lovely meal here with my husband tonight. The three waitresses working were all very friendly and recommended some local beers for us to try! Despite not having a reservation, the young woman managing the restaurant was able to find us a seat quickly and gave us some great tips on where to visit during our trip. Will definitely be back next time we are in Edinburgh!

Delicious breakfast for one. My Haggis and Egg breakfast roll just disappeared. Service was super friendly and the coffee was top notch. Will be back for tomorrows breakfast for sure!

Truly some of the worst service we have ever experienced. We ate here on a quiet Sunday evening. Our waitress came to take our order and did not write it down. By the time she had taken the four of our orders she had forgotten the first two. I ordered a BBQ chicken burger. The food was incredibly slow, especially given how empty the restaurant was. When our food arrived my burger was a beef burger. I queried this and was met with a defensive “I didn’t hear you”. Surely this does not count as a valid reason for getting the order wrong? Wouldn’t it have been much more logical to write down the orders instead of incorrectly inputting them from memory? Our food also arrived without ketchup. We asked for this and were told it would be on the way. Five minutes later there was no ketchup, we queried this again and were told that a staff member was “filling them downstairs”. Five minutes later this happened again until another staff member came in with a new bottle of ketchup from the shop saying sorry they had ran out and he had to go to the shop to buy some. Keeping in mind this is a burger restaurant and ketchup is surely the most common condiment requested. We struggled to understand this situation. Lastly, I used the bathroom before we left. The ladies was in an exceptionally poor state. The toilet seat had been broken into pieces which was left on the floor. Even more disgusting was the overflowing sanitary bin beside the toilet. I would avoid this horrible restaurant. It was very telling there was no one in the bar or restaurant by the time we left. I voiced my complaint to a staff member who offered a weak apology. Avoid.

We had a band lunch here with about 20 musicians. We were served in great time, together, with all the individual choices spot on. Burgers are brilliant and there’s a good range on offer. Tap beer is massively varied and the service so helpful.

Popped in for dinner with some friends and their dog for dinner after a long, cold and wet walk around the town. Very welcoming staff and the place had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Food was super tasty and reasonably priced. Highly recommend. 💯👌🏽

this is a great spot with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. i got the halloumi burger which was quite tasty and the drinks were quite good as well. overall a great option for groups who have food restrictions or preferences.
