After an afternoon walking around the Botanic Garden, we stopped at the Orchard for dinner. We took the babaganoush with the house chips and the steak pie. Then we shared the orange cake with vanilla ice cream. Good food, nice atmosphere, friendly service and reasonable prices.

We were served by the owners who had great personalities, very friendly and jovial. The venue was bright and had a good atmosphere and pleasantly decorated with some unusual features, namely thd light fittings and windows. We had best steak pies, full of succulent steak and tasty gravy and delicious pastry. Good wine and friendly atmosphere. Would go back again and again.

The perfect bar to venture into for good food and great whisky. The staff was absolutely wonderful to a naive whisky drinker. What a great time!

I don't often leave reviews but this place was incredible! The steak was amazing, service very friendly and personable, and dark chocolate brownie was a great finish. Good selection of beer and whiskey, definitely recommend checking this place out

We came here for the Sunday roast after finding it recommended in a Google search for Edinburgh roasts. It's a nice pub, though perhaps not as cosy as I like my pubs to be and the vibes on this Sunday at the back where we were seated felt a little canteen-y. The roast was on the whole very nice, I liked the gravy/sauce which was thick and tangy and the Yorkshire pudding and veg were well cooked. My only issue, which is unfortunately a big one for me, was that the lamb was overcooked. For such an expensive meal I expect the meat to be cooked perfectly so unfortunately that means I won't be repeating my Sunday roast visit, though I will perhaps try their other food.

Champion pub with delish Steak Pie, yum haggis fritters, charming & attentive Aussie maitre’d—owner maybe?—and local Belhaven Black stout that carmelized on the tongue & refreshed the soul. Read glowing reviews to pick this place, and the Orchard lived up to the hype! Love it.

The Orchard is our local and we have visited many times over the years. I have only ever had a middling experience once and this time, the food was excellent and the service outstanding.

We had a lovely dinner here, the staff is super friendly and the price and quality is really good. Definitely a recommendation!

I convinced the rest of our group to not take the bus from the stop at the east gate, We walked about a block and stopped in before the bus ride up the hill to the royal Mile for dinner. Really nice a bright inside clean and friendly. Enjoyed some snacks and a drink or two. Had a lovely time.

Came here earlier today while walking Leith Waterway. We were in need of a coffee and toilet break. The place looked amazing, clean and staff was very friendly. Also the coffee was excellent. Would recommend!

A lovely period pub and a great place for lunch. They will accept orders ahead and you can book a table. Good for groups.

Beautiful place, AMAZING food and very very kind personal. They made us you feel like home and they had stunning suggestions for us. The dessert (toffee pudding) was 10/10. Absolutely delicious.

Very accommodating of my gluten and dairy allergies. I thoroughly enjoyed my steak, service was excellent. Would definitely come again.

Great people, great food and did I mention the many beers on offer. It's a great stop on the water of Leith whichever way you're walking. If you take the trip up the way from Leith then best you take the high road when it splits so you keep on the north side of st marks park. This leads you into the street at the side of the park and straight to the door avoiding main roads. If you're coming down from the Balerno, shandon, roseburn, Stockbridge end, branch off just before the bridge at tanfield to the left and then right along to the pub. It's a great stop, trust me I've stopped loads.

Just popped in for a drink - quite expensive - it's not like it's in the city centre! Service a bit slow Food looked great and again, expensive for the location.

Went with a friend who lives nearby and recommended this place. We hadn’t booked, just dropped in on the off chance. The staff were so friendly and helpful, even moving us to a window seat when one unexpectedly became available. Had the beer battered haddock and chips, followed by a feather light lemon sponge pudding. My only regret is we were given some delicious tablet instead of after dinner mints and I wrapped most of it up in a paper napkin to take home with me - and then left it behind!

Amazing hospitality, food and service. Would recommend coming to the pub for all of the above and a good chat with the staff who were engaging and knowledgeable.

Excellent pub and stunning food!!! My husband loved the black pudding on a salad. I loved the soup so much. We will def come here again when we come back.

The service was amazing. Our waitress really went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. We came with children and she found us the perfect table to sit at. We ordered the battered chicken for the kids and got a fish and chips and the meat pie. It was my first time trying meat pie and it didn’t disappoint. Everything was absolutely delicious.

Kevin provided a great tour of whiskey throughout Scotland on our visit. His recommendations were spot on and educated me on the variety. We also enjoyed an excellent meal which left me with a must return impression of Edinburgh.

This pub was so good, we came back again the next night. Staff were fantastic, so lovely and tentative. Food was great, drinks were even better and the staff set us up right in front of the TV to watch the Olympics. We loved the vibe of this pub, the atmosphere was fantastic. Would 100% recommend and will 100% go back next time in Edinburgh.

The steak pie and chips were spot on. The sticky pudding was incredible. Great pints to be had with fantastic service. This was our final dinner in Scotland and it will be fondly remembered.

Discovered in 2008, this pub is at the top of our list whenever we come to Edinburgh. The kitchen is opened every day serving fresh food with several delicious options: our two favourites are the fish’n chips and the burger. It is one of the only pubs we know where children are welcome: highchairs are available, and there is a dedicated menu for kids.

Very friendly service! We had a place without a reservation, but if you absolutely want to eat here, you might want to make a reservation because it is a very popular restaurant! Tasty cocktails, cozy atmosphere and a good price! Large portions and full of flavor! Recommended!

This place is great. I will come back anytime I get the chance. Food is very good. Giant list of whiskeys. The owner is amazingly helpful with choosing a whiskey and really made a mark on our trip to Scotland. Couldn't recommend more.

Very good Sunday roast and burgers. I had the lamb Sunday roast and my dad had the beef. The burger was excellent too. Special mention for the owner/waitress who was great and very friendly. The desserts were very good also we had the brownie and the toffee pudding which I also recommend.

I popped in alone from visiting the Botanical Gardens today. Managed to secure a table for a Sunday roast. So exquisitely cooked, a perfect portion. Staff were lovely and attentive but proving space too. I really enjoyed my time here.

Went to Orchard for Sunday lunch. Nice space, great service. Had the roast which was good but not sensational. The fried haddock looked awesome. Prices were reasonable.

Decent food, great service and good ambience

Visited ‘The Orchard’ for lunch with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We pre-booked a table via their app which was easy to navigate and hassle free. On arrival the place wasn’t busy and we were immediately escorted to our table by the window. Incidentally, I recommend window tables if available as watching passers-by can be a nice distraction if you are dining alone. The staff were friendly and attentive. I opted to order what they advertise as their ‘ legendary steak & ale pie’ with jacketed chip wedges and greens, while my wife had the beetroot, blue cheese risotto. Neither of us were disappointed 😋 The pie looked so good when served I wasn’t sure whether to eat it or take it on a date..however the temptation was so great I simply wolfed it down before the wife got a chance to ask for a bite. The pie dish was crammed with gorgeous chunks of tender meat, swimming in equally tasty gravy, that just fell apart when attacked by the fork. It was then topped with a puff pastry lid which served to soak up the gravy to the extent the dish was completely emptied without unnecessary delay. My broccoli was not over done and so had a delicious crunch to it. Likewise, my wife found her risotto delicious although she did say that the blue cheese wasn’t easy to identify within the meal, hence the dropped star. All the same we were both happy to give this a full 5 star rating and wouldn’t hesitate recommending it to others. Absolute value for money 👌 Definitely worth repeating the experience to sample other dishes available.

Let's talk about the food. Prices are above average for a pub but the standard presented is well below average. If you order chips, they will be floppy and tasteless. If you order battered fish, it'll be wet and thin. If you order a burger you'll get a stale pretzel roll with wet cabbage. Location is good, and this place is fine for drinks and the atmosphere and decor is lovely but whatever you do... don't come here for food.

Very friendly pub located in a residential area. We were lucky to get a seat because it was packed. The food is a little more refined than in a classic pub but the dishes are not very expensive. We were very well served.

Perfect stop. Near the botanical garden. The place is very warm and comfortable. Very nice and quiet. The fireplace part is beautiful. The waitress was super friendly. We had some beers and a snack. The soup of the day was lentil and carrot and was about £5. We also ordered mussels which were pretty good. I recommend it 100%

We had a roast dinner - food was not as good as advertised online. It was cold, potatoes were underdone and not crispy and the meat was quite gritty. The pub itself was nice on the eye. Would definitely recommend if you just want a drink.

Went there for my birthday meal after went to Christmas at the Botanics with family. Had a delicious Beetroot and blue cheese risotto. Ice cream was brilliant. Friendly staff and cosy place.

Just a 20 minute stroll from Princes Street, and it's well worth it for the Sunday lunch. We had all 3 courses and drinks and we weren't rushed either which was nice. Gave us plenty if time to enjoy the food which is excellent. We had mussels and haggis as starters, and the roast lamb and beef, the latter cooked to perfection. Excellent quality and value for money. Staff were friendly and considerate. Would recommend!

We had a wonderful time at The Orchard. The food was delicious and the menu varied, meaning there is something for everyone and you can come back and pick something new each time! The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. What really stood out, however, was the super friendly and chatty service! :)

Lovely place with good food and friendly service

We wanted somewhere to go for a Roast Dinner in Edinburgh before visiting the Botanical Gardens. We visited mid afternoon and two of the three roast dinner options were no longer available - I would recommend pre-ordering on this basis. The roast was good, and not too large, our puddings were lukewarm. The staff were very friendly and helpful however service at times was slow.
