We had coffee and cakes there but took home apple pie and a selection of cakes which were all lovely. They offer a selection of different breads . The owners are very friendly and provide excellent service. Looking forward to picking up pierogies which they kindly offered to make when I enquired. Well worth a visit.

I was looking for something to eat on a long train journey and was recommended Doorsteps of Handbridge. It was just over the bridge from central Chester but well worth the detour. It had an astounding range of sandwiches and baguettes on different types of bread. Everything was very fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed my Cajun chicken filling. My only quibble is that I felt the homemade cakes were not up to the high standards of the sandwich.

Quirky fine dining restaurant with friendly service. Totally my fault for not checking the menu beforehand but not really what we'd have chosen for the occasion which was a catchup over lunch befre a hike. The menu was very limited, all of mine and my friends selections were very salty and we were a little surprised to be charged £4.75 for a jug of tap water. The complimentary bread and selection of butters were a lovely touch and I'd wanted to try this venue for a while but would certainly not return for lunch, possibly dinner (after checking the menu!)

Visited on a Sunday. On canvas it looks nice etc. Once seated it took nearly half hr to take drinks order after waving someone over awkwar. We all ordered Sunday beef lunch. When it came out was shocked how it was served.. Potatoes all slung in one bowel and same with the vegetables making it difficult to get to them. Potatoes undercooked. Vegetable again under cooked to point of raw and no where al dente and gravy watery the beef however was nice. When trying to order more drinks we had to try and wave someone over even though it's a small restaurant and wasn't busy. Before we said we had finished the waitress whipped away the food left on table. When I went to toilet i saw through the hatch in kitchen eating tthe leftovers!!!Found the staff to be unwelcoming and far from attentive. When we left we through the deli part, suprised to find out none of the items are locally sourced. All in all very underwhelmed and there are far better establishment locally for a better service and the food and less dear but far better!!!.

First time diners (family of 4) and definitely won’t be our last. The food was delicious, well presented and customer service was excellent. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, which in itself is an achievement and we’re looking forward to our next visit. Overall a refreshingly pleasurable dining experience and although not inexpensive was very good value for the price.

Up,out and about on a beautiful but bitterly cold February morning my twin brother and I were exploring around this part of the city when we dropped into Olawa Bakery . A great looking bakery ,interior is neat and tidy, glass fronted serving counters showcase the goodies on offer and staff here are superb. We got a cherry cake each ,these were absolutely delicious, so tasty, just the sugar rush we needed to set us up for a planned walk along and around the historic Roman Walls of Chester ,loved the cakes here ,its not hard to see why this bakery it's so popular . Olawa Bakery is easy to locate along Brook Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Friday, 7am till 5.30pm. Saturday, 8am till 4pm. Sunday, closed. Well worth checking out if you're in the area

We came here after a morning in Carden Spa. We were greeted by lovely staff and a warm, cosy atmosphere - open fires were stocked and crackling away, frames fill the walls and the furniture is quirky and comfy. We chose lunch from the classic pub section and it was outstanding - we stayed for desert which was lovely and would definitely recommend the apple strudel if it’s on! If you’re looking for a cosy countryside pub with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere this is the place to go - we will definitely be returning.

Ate in this hotel restaurant on a Monday evening. Nice setting and friendly attentive staff. Starters of tomato soup and garlic mushrooms, both tasted lovely. We both had the 12oz rib-eye steak which was cooked to perfection and cut like a knife through butter, lush. We finished with the strawberry sundae and sticky toffee pudding. A Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and a Merlot meant we went off to bed with a warm glow. A lovely meal.
