Up,out and about on a beautiful but bitterly cold February morning my twin brother and I were exploring around this part of the city when we dropped into Olawa Bakery . A great looking bakery ,interior is neat and tidy, glass fronted serving counters showcase the goodies on offer and staff here are superb. We got a cherry cake each ,these were absolutely delicious, so tasty, just the sugar rush we needed to set us up for a planned walk along and around the historic Roman Walls of Chester ,loved the cakes here ,its not hard to see why this bakery it's so popular . Olawa Bakery is easy to locate along Brook Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Friday, 7am till 5.30pm. Saturday, 8am till 4pm. Sunday, closed. Well worth checking out if you're in the area

Hoped for it to be better, bread I bought was at least a day old, for a bakery that’s not acceptable, cake was ok but not £3.50 nice , if the lady had of smiled , the transaction would of felt a bit less painful , real shame, bring back proper British bakeries

We stumbled across this amazing bakery after parking our car just out of town (it’s free) and walking in. We were drawn in by the huge selection of amazing looking breads on display. Then we saw the cakes. There are lots of different cakes, a lot of ones I’ve never seen before, but they are all huge and perfectly decorated. We bought a few and can say that they all tasted amazing. The staff were friendly and described what some of the breads were we haven’t seen before. They do sandwiches and coffee too, next time we visit Chester we will be having lunch there. It’s a fraction of the cost of shops in the centre and the quality is fantastic.

I read about this online and heard good reviews! I was right, I loved it so much I went back 2 days in a row! First day I had a custard pastry and a apple and cinnamon pastry with a regular oat latte! I finally found a good cup of coffee in Chester! Second day I went back for the apple and cinnamon and tried the Spanish donut, I wish I had gotten 10 of them! I could eat them all day long! Would recommend anyone to try this bakery, lovely and efficient staff.

Popped by for some pastries en route to town from the station. Display wasn't as dazzling as we remembered & prices have gone up. Bought an apple & cinnamon bun and one with jam & cheese at £1.80 each. There was quite alot of jam & cinnamon on the buns but less of the other ingredients. The bread wasn't as soft & chewy as buns from a Polish bakery in Leeds which we visited recently. Nice place to stop for something different from the regular chain bakeries, but not the best we have tried.

Proper bread that you will not get at a chain bakery or supermarket, you can have snacks made in house and huge cakes for a fraction of the cost of the stations Costa Coffee. Small inside eating area

Wow what an amazing bakery and find today. On our way home from Liverpool we stopped off in Chester and were considering having a costa coffee in the station. However asking a guard he told us there was an independent bakers/cafe outside and about a 5 minute walk from the station. As we wanted to stretch our legs awaiting our next train … So. We took a short walk to the cafe. ! …….Wow, wow, ! ! ! wonderful food, sandwiches, toasties, amazing different artisan breads and rolls, a big selection of waffles (made fresh) and HUGE portions of fresh cream cakes. The staff and owner were wonderful and friendly. The premises were immaculately clean ……. What a great decision we made. If you’re anywhere near Chester station…. Seek this little gem out. ! ! !

We dropped in here on the way to the station after a couple of days in Chester. I was only going to get bread but ended up with croissants, cakes and bread. Lovely staff explained what everything was. Well worth a visit!

We bought a selection of cakes as a gift for my grandparents, they were absolutely delightful. I also picked up a bag today off ‘too good to go’ and again every product was amazing. Everything is freshly prepared and looks and tastes totally authentic. Reasonably priced, and lovely staff too. Would definitely recommend.

An inter train service stop and wanted something different to the usual station rubbish. Took a stroll and glad I did. Freshly made sandwiches in delicious crusty rolls and a lovely brew. It's a busy wee place with local Polish clientèle so if you are looking for a two pound medium loaf this might not be your ideal bakery!

Chanced upon this bakery en route to town from the train station. The display was so dazzling we couldn't resist picking up a couple of bakes - Spanish donut and an apple and cinnamon bake. Both huge, reasonably priced & tasty. The savoury stuff look nice too but will probably need to be heated up to taste their best. There was a selection of cream cakes and breads were sliced and available for tasting which was a nice touch. There are some seats available and the interior is very nicely decorated. We would definitely like to return when we are next in Chester. Highly recommended!

Visited on a Sunday. On canvas it looks nice etc. Once seated it took nearly half hr to take drinks order after waving someone over awkwar. We all ordered Sunday beef lunch. When it came out was shocked how it was served.. Potatoes all slung in one bowel and same with the vegetables making it difficult to get to them. Potatoes undercooked. Vegetable again under cooked to point of raw and no where al dente and gravy watery the beef however was nice. When trying to order more drinks we had to try and wave someone over even though it's a small restaurant and wasn't busy. Before we said we had finished the waitress whipped away the food left on table. When I went to toilet i saw through the hatch in kitchen eating tthe leftovers!!!Found the staff to be unwelcoming and far from attentive. When we left we through the deli part, suprised to find out none of the items are locally sourced. All in all very underwhelmed and there are far better establishment locally for a better service and the food and less dear but far better!!!.

Quirky fine dining restaurant with friendly service. Totally my fault for not checking the menu beforehand but not really what we'd have chosen for the occasion which was a catchup over lunch befre a hike. The menu was very limited, all of mine and my friends selections were very salty and we were a little surprised to be charged £4.75 for a jug of tap water. The complimentary bread and selection of butters were a lovely touch and I'd wanted to try this venue for a while but would certainly not return for lunch, possibly dinner (after checking the menu!)
