I visited Clipstone recently and left absolutely full to the brim with delicious food and wine. The atmosphere of the place is so comforting and cosy. We were served by Kat who attended to our every need, recommending dishes and wines - we were stoked with her recommendations! The house smoked salmon and Yorkshire partridge pie were our favourites! Thanks so much for a lovely evening, I can't wait to come back!

Really lovely food here and amazing staff. Shame it has closed but the memory will live forever. Thank you for everything. The tasting menu and the wine was to die for.

Esta fue una experiencia muy agradable, desde entrar por la puerta hasta sentarse a la mesa. XR se encuentra en algún lugar entre una buena cena y una cena informal. Todos los platos eran excelentes. ¡El Tomahawk Steak fue el ganador! XR se encuentra en el corazón del moderno Marylebone de Londres, bajo la atenta mirada del chef Carlo Scotto, y ofrece una prestigiosa experiencia gastronómica a la carta. En general, tuvimos una comida deliciosa, cocinada a la perfección. Personal muy atento, volvería!

Comimos aquí a mitad de la semana, sin reserva y el restaurante era razonablemente completa. Yo recomendaría reservar en fines de semana y otras veces lleno. El servicio era atento y profesional, y la calidad de la comida era excelente. No es barato, pero merece la pena. En general, una experiencia muy agradable.

The food was bad, but wasn’t the worst part. The manager takes pictures of all the leftovers. To trap unhappy customers. Beware. This is a 'bad food trap'. Surely this is not the best business model? How about Cooking good food and having grateful customers? On first regard this restaurant seems like a nice discovery. But with best intentions an evening full of hope turns into an awful disappointment and ends up in an a horrible argument with the unreasonable manager. The environment and wine selected from the shop upstairs set a promising evening ahead. The mixed platter to start was fine, we looked forward to the main event with anticipation. The steak tartar was well below par, lacking any flavour or authenticity. The boeuf bourguignon was quite dreadful, meat was extremely tough with a nasty after taste, the sauce transparent and over-wined. On a cold winters' night, and the best will in the world, we could not get through our main courses, it was a hardship. My wife is french, her usually favourite dish was a huge disappointment. I told the waitress we weren’t impressed. We were invited to take our complaint upstairs to the manager. This is already very strange behaviour. I wish I had not bothered complaining. The manager was obviously primed for this and attacked back very quickly with forceful aggression. I explained our feeling that both main courses were quite unenjoyable. The owner abruptly showed me pictures on his phone of our uneaten leftovers. What sort of person does this? He had these pictures at the ready, to prove we ate some of the food. This is a disgusting sight and a warped, revolting tactic. He must get many complaints and has refined this tactic over the years. Shame he hasn’t spent his time refining the food! All I wanted was to get some understanding for our point of view, to let someone know the chef was knocking out substandard dishes. He wouldn’t listen, just thought we wanted free food. The argument got quite nasty and I believe at one stage I compared his bourguignon to dog food, that was a mistake, sorry, most dog meat seems quite tender. People don’t turn dinner away on the first bite, you stay hopeful, eat what you can, no-one wants to destroy and evening out. Anyway, not to worry his chap was here to make sure we left his establishment feeling completely utterly miserable with ourselves. As part of his attack, he even threatened to the call the police, if the bill wasn’t paid. Beyond reason, beyond belief. Basic French home cooked food would have been nice, this was sadly made with no care, no skill, no idea. But what was worst? being bullied and despised for complaining. As you can see, within the other complaints here, the owner bites back with no care. Most of all, expect the same lack of care in this cold, dead, damp basement trap.

Fuimos a este restaurante con un grupo de ocho en febrero de 2025. La calidad de la comida era mala y la factura total llegó a más de £ 500. Cobran 8 libras. 00 por ensalada Coban y £28 por Shish que es extorsivo. Los precios me parecieron muy caros teniendo en cuenta que la calidad de la comida es mala. Humilde consejo, mantente alejado a menos que no te importe que te estafen.

Dinner for 4 people 02/17/2025 Nice and welcoming place, the only positive thing. Food arrived cold, in my hamburger in addition to the cold fries there was frozen avocado, inside the sandwich which was already cold. They don't clean tables once people have dined. 10 staff members who made me wonder what they were doing, the place was practically empty. In the corner where you get sauces and drinks, there wasn't even cutlery and napkins which we had to ask for. How can they work like this in a chain like Nando's.
