Not sure why people speak highly of the food at this restaurant as we found it rather average. We had the classic chicken schnitzel and beef sausages with potato salad and cauliflower and the tastes were so-so… Desert of fruit crumble was the tastiest although the berries were rather tart. The strudel was a disappointment. We expected it to be WOW! And it totally wasn’t. I’m no chef and could make a better strudel!! The hot chocolate was quite tasty. The cappuccino tasted ‘burnt’. On the other hand, the atmosphere was lovely. It’s a very pleasant place to sit if you want a place to get together with friends or family. The waiters were very kind and accommodating and did their best for us. They were 10 out of 10. We won’t go back and you never know you may enjoy your experience there more than we did.

Update: Back again specifically to have the Kaiserschmarrn and our favourite Chicken Broth with Chopped Herb Pancake. Also ordered the sausages with potato salad, sauerkraut and caramelised onions. Special mention - the Kaiserschmarrn did not disappoint and the thuringer bratwurst was juicy and very tasty. Once again, excellent, polite and friendly service - relaxed and not rushed. Food served promptly. Last Visit: Ordered: Chicken broth with chopped herb pancake- this was absolutely delicious. Twice baked soufflé suisse - light soufflé sitting on a creamy cheese chive sauce. Bacon Grostl with Fried Eggs - crunchiest potato with well rendered bacon. Austrian Potato Salad - tangy, great in refreshing the palate after the decadent soufflé and grostl. Was looking forward to getting the Kaiserschmarrn but we had no more space. Excellent service. Well portioned for the price. Good food.

I visited without a reservation around 16:00 on weekdays during the holiday season, and was seated because only counter seats were available for tea customers. The servers were mainly served by Asian female waitresses, and they were very nice and made the time even more enjoyable. Like other affiliated stores, there is a large clock in the middle of the store, and the store has a classical atmosphere, creating a great atmosphere and making it a great time. The dessert was also more sour and interesting than Japanese apple pie, so I really liked it😌🍎

I booked this restaurant for a special annual business treat as it looked quite high end, so I was expecting something classy and was prepared to pay £100 per head for it. The food was very good, I would give it 8.75 out of 10, however there are some definite issues, ones that in my opinion show a lack of customer care, possible unnecessary profiteering, and a lack of basic knowledge/research about Austrian (mistakenly German) history. When I sat down on the chair at the table we were given, it was about 50% loose in the legs, so was moving from side to side and back and forth when only shifting my weight a tiny amount on it. The chair either needed all of its screws tightening, a disassembly and re-gluing of all parts, or completely replacing, as asking customers to sit on it is endangering their well being should it collapse under them. When I politely pointed out that the chair was weak and wobbly, no apology was given, it was just taken from me and I was given a chair from a close by empty table and my original chair was put in its place, thus endangering someone else. The chair I was given was still a little wobbly, maybe a quarter as wobbly as the previous one, so *probably* safe. If you run any sort of establishment at all, regularly check that your chairs are safe. You wouldn't sit on that chair in your own home, or allow your own relatives or friends to sit on it, so don't give it to customers. "Peckham Spring": For those of you familiar with the classic British TV sitcom Only Fools and Horses, you may recall an episode where Del Boy and Rodney went into the bottled water business, calling their product Peckham Spring Water. Instead of using real spring water they simply filled the bottles from the mains water tap in their flat in Peckham, South East London, and labelled it and sold it as Peckham Spring Water. Well, I ordered a bottle of spring water and a bottle of still water in Fischers, and what arrived was a carafe of each in a mason lidded style jar. Both carafes were unmarked, no labelling or branding, and my instant thought was "Peckham Spring". You order spring or mineral water in a restaurant purely (no pun intended) because you want to avoid tap water or to get something that is superior to tap water and that has less impurities. The sparkling water in the carafe did have some fizz, although less than I would expect from sparkling, but nonetheless, delivering the water in unbranded carafes gives the impression that the water *may* have come from the mains water tap, as a strategy to increase profits. The point is, that the customer just can't tell. If I ask and pay for sparkling water then please bring me something branded so that I know for sure that it is. Massive noise levels: This is the noisiest restaurant I have ever been in. The noise levels were similar to those in a loud packed pub. This may have been because some of the tables were celebrating their pre Xmas office parties with a meal, I am not sure. But even if this is the case, then the restaurant management should have a polite quiet word with those tables to ask them to be a little quieter. The massive noise took quite a lot away from the enjoyment of me and my guest's experience, and at £100+ per person in a high end restaurant, such noise levels are simply not what you would expect when booking, nor what you should experience. The Zeppelin photo: I used the gents toilets and when I was washing my hands I saw a framed photo of a Zeppelin (airship) just above the sink. This I found to be both stupid and slightly amusing, the latter in a bad way, as in laughing at a ridiculous form of stupidity. The restaurant is in the style of an early 1920s Austrian Brasserie, and in fact they have done a very good job in replicating that style. However, Zeppelins are not Austrian, they are German. Also, they were used in WWI to bomb London (the restaurant of course is in London), and later in 1937 the Hindenburg airship (Zeppelin) disaster was one of the worst and most horrible aviation disasters in history, killing 37 people and with it effectively ending the airship industry. A photo of a Zeppelin should probably be only in a museum or in a reference book, not in a restaurant trying to re-create early a 20th century Austrian eatery. So overall, the restaurant experience was a lot below my expectation. I was anticipating more of a relaxed and quieter atmosphere, which is what you get in most restaurants, regardless of price, and I was very annoyed that the restaurant appears to have a very complacent and uncaring attitude towards customers' health and safety by giving some of them unsafe chairs to sit on. The potential that the water was actually "Peckham Spring" not real spring/mineral water, and the Zeppelin photo nonsense just add to the negatives. In short, if you are going to project quality on your website and in your restaurant's decor and charge high prices, then back it up by getting about 90% of things right, not about 50%.

The Gulasch was decent enough and staff was friendly. The prices are mental, though. 30£ for a Gulasch is just not ever justified. Way overpriced. You cannot order a pint of beer. Just not possible. 330ml or 1 liter but not a pint. Most bizarre thing especially for an ostensibly Austrian restaurant. They also automatically added a 5£ tip to the bill, which is just poor form. You'd think with those prices they could at least pay their staff adequately.

I personally feel the menu in general is overpriced..as is the bottle's of wine...The other point is you have to pay for every side accompanying dish, which brings the price soon much higher than is expected, or is nessassery...so for 2 persons dinning, having a starter main course and a dessert, plus a bottle of wine, Plus service charge, you won't get out without paying near £200.....It was my wife's birthday, so I was a captive audience. Even Wealthy dinners don't like to be taken advantage of.we are off to Vienna for Christmas back mid January, so I'll pop into speak personally to the manager, sorry your not happy with my review !!!!...perhaps too harsh..

They do demand to take your details, such as telephone number when arriving which I did not care for, as a private person I do not see the need to share my details with strangers when arriving for luncheon. However, the food is good, and this is certainly the only place I have come across in the area which serves Eastern-European style food with such authenticity. Not that I am an expert in this area specifically, it is certainly a welcome change in food genre. The decor is elegant and well-kept. It feels like a nice place to have a business meeting, if you might like to impress with something a little different which is also delicious. Not just dressed to impress - Fischers does deliver a decent dining experience.

Food ok. Unfortunately the manageress was a total inflexible rule follower. We brought some small helium balloons for a birthday and at first were told couldn't bring them in. Sadly a "computer says no" attitude prevails, and without manners. Shame as the wait staff were lovely.

I've been several times in this nice restaurant, always pleasant experience but yesterday i had keiserschmarrn, i was so happy cause i grown up in Sudtirol and i had this dessert many many times, and i was really surprised by the dessert called Keiserschmarrn they serve at Fischer, they overcooked the pieces of pancake in the butter, they were caramelized and eavily attached to the pan...with a lot of cherries compote, too much.....i'm sorry but this is not keiserschmarrn!!!

Great interior feel - although we sat outside. Old Viennese feel. Friendly staff, quite expensive for relatively small portions - but a pleasant experience overall.

This had been recommended to us by friends who learned of my husband's love of Schnitzels! We arrived a little early for our booking and were sat at a lovely corner table with a great view of the whole restaurant. The decor is kitsch and cute, but not for those offended by hunting trophies! We we brought a basket of rye breads with whipped paprika butter. The breads were delicious but we were mindful of the next course so we're very restrained! For drinks, I had a Grapefruit Fizz mocktail and hubby had a low alcohol pear drink.... I've forgotten the name, but something to do with a monk! Mains obviously were Schnitzels, we both went for veal. I had the small and hubby the regular and we opted for one with "jus" (gravy) and one with ligonberry sauce. We both added the Holstein option (fried egg, capers and anchovies). Spatzle (noodles), carrots and pickled cucumber were our sides. The food arrived quickly and was very nicely presented. Schnitzels were thin, crispy and golden, just as they should be. Personally I found the noodles a little bland (I guess noodles generally are!!😄), but hubby assured me they were great. I enjoyed the pickled cucumber which was tangy and crunchy. The carrots were cooked with hazelnuts and made a tasty side. I found the egg / caper / anchovy extra rather distracting from the veal so shoved that over to hubby's plate who was very happy with that! The jus was so full of flavour: rich and creamy whilst the ligonberry sauce added a pleasant sharpness. No puddings as just too full, but they looked amazing... Next time! Our bill came to £131, so definitely not a cheap eat. The restaurant charges a cover charge per person and 15% service charge. Really good meal and a nice treat.

Excellent food and service. The Holstein schnitzel is truly to die for, and given the reputation of food from this part of the world, was not heavy at all. Pair the schnitzel with a cucumber salad and walk away almost guilt free 😁. The sachertorte was also extremely good as was my friends strudel.

Stayed here for a treat over the Christmas period when going to see a show. Really nice room, with an excellent location next to Piccadilly and Green Park. Breakfast had an amazing choice with excellent pastries and coffee. Would recommend drinks in the bar, the team there were magnifico!

Food and drinks with friends. The soup of the day, celery, was amazing. Compliments to Chef Omar. The rest of the team, Joe, Aishat and Aziza were all lovely and their service warm and friendly. Bellini cocktails went down a treat.

Huzzah.

Tried ringing to make a reservation for Friday evening and the phone just rang out with no answerphone. Turned up at the restaurant and it was all shuttered up with no notice indicating prolonged Xmas holidays or anything. Presumed closed for business.
