I have been here more than once... The wild boar goulash consisted of 5 pieces of "meat". 3 of the 5 pieces of meat were pieces of fat and fat only. Simply large pieces of fat. This is the second time now that the wild boar goulash was mostly plain forward fat with a tasty sauce and delicious pasta. That is not the level of food which was served in the past. Apologies for the negative review but this was just too awful. The service is great. The ambience is great, but the food... Nein, Nein, Nein.

This was like sitting in a restaurant in Vienna, the decor and ambience is fabulous. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, had to have the schnitzel and there is an excellent choice of desserts, Strudel won, superb. The restaurant is only a ten minutes walk from Baker Street Station. If you sit under the air con it can get a bit cool.

We asked for a table by the window. The decor tries to be old fashioned with stuffed heads of dead boars and deer on the ceiling, yellow ceramic tiles and lots of old looking paintings hung up across the room. The staff seems overwhelmed and I had to call them over to get attention. One of us had the schnitzel which was good, the other had chicken which was rather small and hard to eat (bones) but tasted fine. The potato salad was tasty. The ice cream with peaches was disappointing. Overall a decent lunch.

I expected more considering it’s listed as one of London’s best Austrian restaurants. The food was distinctively average. We both had the Chicken Snitchzel which was very average. Far too crisp and tough. The decor is nice. The service was over familiar and we had to wait the best part of 10 mins for a menu. The server had a distinct approach as though they were doing us a favour. There are nicer places to eat for higher quality food and experience.

Used to be a regular, but the price feels like it's gone too far north. £150 for two schnitzel (the chicken one was also extremely tough), sharing two little sides, two deserts and two glasses of riesling is too much. 15% service charge is also just too much. Used to love Fischers but the price point is becoming too hard to justify.

First time at Fischers and a great experience. Fab food. I had Chopped Liver and pickles followed by Sausage selection with sauerkraut potato salad and onions. Typical Austrian food washed down with Weiss beer. Service also very good and a great looking typical restaurant. Would definitely go back. Need to book for a great night out. A little alternative maybe but still a great choice. 😁

This had been recommended to us by friends who learned of my husband's love of Schnitzels! We arrived a little early for our booking and were sat at a lovely corner table with a great view of the whole restaurant. The decor is kitsch and cute, but not for those offended by hunting trophies! We we brought a basket of rye breads with whipped paprika butter. The breads were delicious but we were mindful of the next course so we're very restrained! For drinks, I had a Grapefruit Fizz mocktail and hubby had a low alcohol pear drink.... I've forgotten the name, but something to do with a monk! Mains obviously were Schnitzels, we both went for veal. I had the small and hubby the regular and we opted for one with "jus" (gravy) and one with ligonberry sauce. We both added the Holstein option (fried egg, capers and anchovies). Spatzle (noodles), carrots and pickled cucumber were our sides. The food arrived quickly and was very nicely presented. Schnitzels were thin, crispy and golden, just as they should be. Personally I found the noodles a little bland (I guess noodles generally are!!😄), but hubby assured me they were great. I enjoyed the pickled cucumber which was tangy and crunchy. The carrots were cooked with hazelnuts and made a tasty side. I found the egg / caper / anchovy extra rather distracting from the veal so shoved that over to hubby's plate who was very happy with that! The jus was so full of flavour: rich and creamy whilst the ligonberry sauce added a pleasant sharpness. No puddings as just too full, but they looked amazing... Next time! Our bill came to £131, so definitely not a cheap eat. The restaurant charges a cover charge per person and 15% service charge. Really good meal and a nice treat.

I had heen here a few weeks ago and it was excellent so I made a booking on Opentable last night for 7:15 to take my partner to try it out. This time however, we were met by an extremely rude host, I didn't catch his name but he had short, maybe ginger hair and a light beard and a feminine voice and was in a foul mood. I greeted him respectfully and said that we had reservations for two people that I booked on opentable, gave him my name three times because for some reason he kept getting it wrong. After finally getting my name right, he says "no booking" even after showing him the email confirmation and the opentable confirmation. Not, sorry I can't find your booking let me see what I can do, just "no booking". Now I don't know what crawled into this guy yesterday but I have never in my time living in London received such a hostile welcome. If I was not with my partner I would have pulled him aside and brought the manager over to educate him on how to speak to customers. Eventually after having to ask the host if he can do anything about a table, he lets out a huge sigh as if I just asked him to move heaven and earth and offers us a table if we can be out by 8:30, to which we accept and proceed to be taken to our table. The food was subpar, the wiener schnitzel was not seasoned and not crispy as it usually is. This experience was night and day compared to just weeks ago, all due to the host treating us horrendously. Will not be returning again, I would recommend retraining this individual to speak to people properly, especially paying customers. Part 2: A manager contacted me and offered for us to return for dinner on them, I accepted and am updating my review with my second experience. The experience we had the second time around was like night and day to the negative dinner I had previously. We were greeted by cheery staff who wanted us to be thrre. Albeit the second experience is tainted by thr fact the manager told his staff to treat us like VIP's, in this case I suppose the ends justify the means. The staff were especially kind and helpful to myself and my guest. We enjoyed the starters and the schnitzel was alright, albeit completely unseasoned. The negative experience was handled very well by management who really did want to remedy the situation. 10/10 work by management in reaching out and apologizing and inviting us back to dine.

Surely one of our fav places to go for food any time of the day wether for brunch, lunch or late diners. The service has not disappointed us once. As Austrian nationality, we are used to high standards when it comes to choosing an upscale place to eat. Food is Austrian inspired - versatile venue covers a wide range of the main dishes back home. Only criticism is that the original baked cheese cake is no longer available, just a very poor version of uncooked / u baked American version of cheesecake. We like ours baked and a bit burnt just like a creme brulee burnt on the cheese;)

A remarkable survivor of old Austria in the heart of London. The splendid interior tends more to Alpine kitsch than Viennese charm. We stopped for coffee and cake but it is so popular as a lunch spot that we were given a table for 30 minutes. We were also required to leave our ‘phone number “in case we leave anything” - apparently this happens all the time but seemed a bizarre request that we’ve never had before. Given the quick turnaround target, service was still incredibly lackadaisical. The coffee and food, however, were excellent. But the bill, when it arrived, included 15% service, which seemed a bit presumptuous. Even in Vienna, service is discretionary and not included. Having sampled its delights, I doubt we will be hurrying back.

I was really looking forward to this but overall this was disappointing. The Schnitzel was very average, the mushroom stroganoff was very spicy and tasted of copper (having been served in a copper dish), the souffle was nice but didn't come with anything so one-dimensional and too intense and the Kaesespaetzle was more like macaroni cheese. If you're expecting authentic Austrian cuisine, this isn't the place sadly. The atmosphere is great so it's good for just coffee or a cocktail. We had an annoying experience regarding booking - we had a reservation for dinner at 7pm but turned up at 6pm hoping to have drinks for an hour before eating but even though there were plenty of empty tables that did not fill up before 7pm, they seemed to be wedded to the idea that we could only have a table for 2 hours and changed our booking to 6pm and forced us to eat dinner an hour earlier than we wanted to. It's supposed to be a relaxed place where you can eat or drink anything at any time of day so this policy doesn't seem aligned with that. It's not a cheap place so the 15% service charge seems unnecessary.

Lovely atmosphere, beautiful decor. Service however doesn't match the high price tag of the restaurant. Servers couldn't answer some basic questions and on occasion forgot to bring what they have been asked (extra plates) 15% automatically added service charge couldn't be explained. I actually did something I never do: I asked to halve the tip as the service was so sub par. They also charge something I think called "Dinner menu charge". Basically it's a £1.5 per person if you are having food in the evening rather than at lunch time. As it was explained to me: they have the same menu for lunch and dinner, but dinner is more expensive for some reason. Therefore to avoid printing different menus with different prices for lunch and dinner, they just add this surcharge. Very strange. Food is good but, again, too expensive for a basic sausage or a schnitzel, Austrian or not. Deserts however are excellent!

We had dinner in Fischers tonight, and it was a mixed experience. The food was quite good. Some dishes - very good. Kaiserschmarrn - to die for. The decor and atmosphere - perfect. You feel like you sit in a true old world restaurant. But - the service was mediocre at best… the waitresses meant well, but they did not know the menu, did not engage with you, did not smile. They sometimes forgot to bring some things. This would be forgivable, but: - it was not this way before - the service here used to be exemplary. - Fischers is an expensive restaurant. Our bill was £300+ for 4, without ordering that much food and not a lot of drinks. - there is a 15% service charge included! I know it’s discretionary, but 15%! The service is not 15% service by any stretch of imagination. Anyway, Fischers used to be great. It still has a lot of good things going for it, but service needs to get back to where it was.

There was no room left in my stomach for any desserts which I will need to try for tea another time. A word of warning it is very busy and as it isn't massively big it fills up quite quickly. I stopped counting the number of people who were turned away for not having a booking so do reserve to avoid disappointments. The service could be better, you don't get much attention from the seemingly overworked staff, at busy times they could definitely do with more of them. Last thing, inexpensive it ain't but the quality is there, and it's central London so this is an observation, rather than a criticism.

We had a lunch there. We ordered sea bass and schnitzel. It was quite average taste when you consider the price!! But the real issue was you are getting schnitzel with no side dish and the fish is coming with chips!! Chips that you can buy in any supermarket which is probably the most unhealthy food these days. Take it into consideration you might get a big bill and leave the place hungry..

Terrible ageist experience just now at Fischer’s. Asked to sit down for a drink as I often have on a Saturday afternoon. This time I was with my elderly mother, and we were refused a table at 16.15 under the guise of “being busy for dinner” whilst half the space and tables were empty. I expected better.

Enjoyed a pleasant lunch meal with my son. The salad portions are slightly bijou and the roasted vegetables are cold. The coffee and the service were excellent.

It is always a pleasure to visit Fischer's. The quality across food, drink, and service is consistent and never drops below their high standards.

Food was incredible, been to the restaurant twice! First time was lovely, when I went today though, the staff were incredibly rude. Not just one of them but most of the staff were really not very nice.

This was my first visit to Fischer’s but I have eaten at other restaurants in The Wolsey Group. This being an Austrian restaurant means the menu is different from the other venues but still has my favourite soufflé! More of that later… My sister & I had such a warm welcome from who I assume was the maitre d when we arrived and although we were a little early our table was ready in minutes. A corner table too which was so nice. Another lovely welcome from the man who took us to our table. Although I knew I was going to order the soufflé, the menu was interesting & varied. My sister had the chicken schnitzel, spätzle & pickled cucumber which she said were delicious & a generous portion. I had the soufflé & some chips. I can honestly say this was the best cheese soufflé I have had in a very long time. I actually had a chat about this with the maitre d before we left so she could pass on my compliments to to the chef. The chips were also perfect. Service was exemplary. I will definitely be returning.

We were greeted by an INCREDIBLY rude hostess who stipulted immediately that we would only be allowed 20 minutes in the cafe, in spite of it being almost empty at the time. She made us feel we were doing her a great favour in visiting the cafe and not welcome. We stayed only for a coffee, served by a surly waiter! This was a most upsetting experience in a lovely setting. This appalling bad mannered hostess should be (re)trained in the notion of old fashioned Customer Service.

I took my parents to Fischers on a Monday, late January afternoon, to mark a special occasion, and it really was fantastic. The food was really well balanced. The only criticism would be the schnitzel was a tiny bit dry. But all the sides and accompaniment’s were excellent. The starters pretty good. Desert was fantastic (don’t normally say that) I had trifle. The restaurant is beautiful, staff are lovely. I definitely left wanting to try more of the food. So planning a trip back for duck 🦆 and sausages. Oh and parents said ‘it was the most they had enjoyed somewhere for a really long time’.

Nice but way too expensive! Sides are a bit stingy. Service was all professional but 15% tip and a dinner charge is absolutely ridiculous and personally think should be boycotted until their policy changes!

Visited yesterday, Jan 15, 2024. Pretentious and over-priced food: what on the menu is promised as chicken broth/soup, turns out to be chicken bouillon cubes dissolved in water and garnished with a few slivers of a shredded carrot and a few strips of a shredded pancake. I am sure one pancake gets divided and served between no less than a half-dozen customers – judged by the amount of it I had in my so-called soup. And they charge over £9.75 for this silly concoction. Next came the crab salad... Well... for the price of over £20.00 they were kind enough to plop some canned crab meat on top of a pile of untrimmed wilted rockets, which in their turn were sat on top of some green vegetable, possibly courgettes. Salad dressing? A ramekin of mayo was accompanying this dish. Was I to spread the mayo over the rockets? Or over that green veg? Or smear it over the crab meat? I wasn't sure... I left it untouched. My partner had the Tafelspitz. Said it was OK. They also insisted we should provide them with our full name and phone number just before sitting us at a table. Most bizarre!

Chicken schnitzel was pretty decent, very close to the ones I had in Vienna. I found the potatoes in the Viennese potato salad a bit tastless, though overall, it was nice.

Came across this restaurant and was intrigued. As soon as I stepped inside, the interior took me back several decades. It wasn't exceptionally busy, staff were they but I felt ignored and as I didn't belong there. Would help if staff were more attentive or acknowledged a solo customer. Felt extremely pull off, after waiting a while, I decided to turn around and walk out. Such a shame I never got the opportunity to experience the food, just the poor service.

Arrived ready to toast the occasion with cocktails in a venue that screamed stunning and festive. The cocktails, a rare appearance, were indeed splendid. However, the service, oh, the letdown! We practically had to send out a search party for the menu multiple times. My hot elixir made an early entrance, while my partner's concoction leisurely strolled in a fashionably late 10 minutes afterward. Our dreams of clinking glasses in unison were shattered. But wait, the saga continued. Despite my plea to settle the bill while my partner was on a bathroom break, time stretched on like a languid river. The waiter seemed to have misplaced the urgency button. And then the financial aftershock hit – a whopping £45 for 2 cocktails and water. It's safe to say my wallet was left nursing its wounds after this extravagant escapade. In the end, the cocktails sparkled, but the service and the bill left us questioning whether the celebration was worth the steep price tag.

The food here is good. We had the chicken Weiner schnitzel which was tasty. It came with tasty cabbage sauerkraut. The place is very popular and booking is a must. We waited for an hour and ended up being seated at the bar counter. I guess this was the best the matre' d could give us for not booking in advance. Ambience is noisy given the place is packed with lunch diners.

Tourists feel excluded We were greeted very coldly and promptly by the woman who is in charge of placing customers (there is a desk). She told us curtly that it was not possible to have lunch at the bar because the restaurant was expecting a lot of people on this last day of the year 2023. She added that there would be a crowd of people queuing within the hour and that she was leaving the bar to them as it was cold outside... As a result, we had lunch opposite and when we passed Fischer's again, there was no queue and no crowd (photo below). The restaurant was half empty. HOWEVER, we had been to Fischer's a month ago and had been served at the bar without any problems. Incidentally, this winter is the mildest we've had in a long time... Total incomprehension and deception of customers? We felt discriminated against, which is a shame!

Champagne afternoon tea served in a packing case / amazing. We started with smoked salmon and this was followed by a toasted sandwich. The cold sandwiches & cakes /scones that followed were all delicious! A glass of champagne & plenty of tea - wonderful a real treat . This was a gift & we would highly recommend it. Cold at St Pancras but with heated seats who could complain .

First of all, we met such a kind and positive server named Judy. She was incredibly thoughtful; for example, even though she wasn't responsible for our table, she still asked if anyone had brought Parmesan for my pasta. We had a lovely conversation when I paid, and I truly appreciated her warmth. We highly recommend this place—not only was the food really, really good, but the staff was also very friendly, especially Judy. We enjoyed the Food at your Place it was fine, Perfect Service, please give Judy a hug, for her very kindness, very Nice Person☺️
