We only had a few nights in London, but made sure to save one night for a wonderful meal at Fischers. Everything was delicious and service was welcoming and professional. Some of the dishes we enjoyed and would recommend were the Salmon Brotchen, Käsespätzle with bacon, Chicken Schnitzel, Weiner Schnitzel, Würstchen-Sausages (a combo of the Strasbourg smoked pork & garlic & the Käsekrainer pork & garlic stuffed with emmental), and Bananas Foster.

The atmosphere is fantastic. It really seems to be in Wien. I have been here before and I returned with high expectations. We were greeted by a great member of staff at the door which showed us our table with grace. Problems started with the staff at the table completely uninterested in offering a good experience. It looked like they just wanted to get rid of us. In fact, they succeded. We would have had dessert, we just decided to leave. It was unpleasant. A real shame.

I had heen here a few weeks ago and it was excellent so I made a booking on Opentable last night for 7:15 to take my partner to try it out. This time however, we were met by an extremely rude host, I didn't catch his name but he had short, maybe ginger hair and a light beard and a feminine voice and was in a foul mood. I greeted him respectfully and said that we had reservations for two people that I booked on opentable, gave him my name three times because for some reason he kept getting it wrong. After finally getting my name right, he says "no booking" even after showing him the email confirmation and the opentable confirmation. Not, sorry I can't find your booking let me see what I can do, just "no booking". Now I don't know what crawled into this guy yesterday but I have never in my time living in London received such a hostile welcome. If I was not with my partner I would have pulled him aside and brought the manager over to educate him on how to speak to customers. Eventually after having to ask the host if he can do anything about a table, he lets out a huge sigh as if I just asked him to move heaven and earth and offers us a table if we can be out by 8:30, to which we accept and proceed to be taken to our table. The food was subpar, the wiener schnitzel was not seasoned and not crispy as it usually is. This experience was night and day compared to just weeks ago, all due to the host treating us horrendously. Will not be returning again, I would recommend retraining this individual to speak to people properly, especially paying customers.

Borscht, Wiener schnitzel and strudel (served warm👍) were very nice. Potatoes in the potato salad were a little underdone. My friend had sea bass with what was supposed to be Lyonnaise potatoes but looked like crisps to us. The service was hit and miss, some staff friendly, one properly surly. I chose this restaurant for the food and the fact that it doesn't allow dogs (apart from guide dogs obviously). Unfortunately there was a dog, and it definitely was not an assistance dog. Very disappointing.

I was really looking forward to this but overall this was disappointing. The Schnitzel was very average, the mushroom stroganoff was very spicy and tasted of copper (having been served in a copper dish), the souffle was nice but didn't come with anything so one-dimensional and too intense and the Kaesespaetzle was more like macaroni cheese. If you're expecting authentic Austrian cuisine, this isn't the place sadly. The atmosphere is great so it's good for just coffee or a cocktail. We had an annoying experience regarding booking - we had a reservation for dinner at 7pm but turned up at 6pm hoping to have drinks for an hour before eating but even though there were plenty of empty tables that did not fill up before 7pm, they seemed to be wedded to the idea that we could only have a table for 2 hours and changed our booking to 6pm and forced us to eat dinner an hour earlier than we wanted to. It's supposed to be a relaxed place where you can eat or drink anything at any time of day so this policy doesn't seem aligned with that. It's not a cheap place so the 15% service charge seems unnecessary.

Lovely atmosphere, beautiful decor. Service however doesn't match the high price tag of the restaurant. Servers couldn't answer some basic questions and on occasion forgot to bring what they have been asked (extra plates) 15% automatically added service charge couldn't be explained. I actually did something I never do: I asked to halve the tip as the service was so sub par. They also charge something I think called "Dinner menu charge". Basically it's a £1.5 per person if you are having food in the evening rather than at lunch time. As it was explained to me: they have the same menu for lunch and dinner, but dinner is more expensive for some reason. Therefore to avoid printing different menus with different prices for lunch and dinner, they just add this surcharge. Very strange. Food is good but, again, too expensive for a basic sausage or a schnitzel, Austrian or not. Deserts however are excellent!

We had dinner in Fischers tonight, and it was a mixed experience. The food was quite good. Some dishes - very good. Kaiserschmarrn - to die for. The decor and atmosphere - perfect. You feel like you sit in a true old world restaurant. But - the service was mediocre at best… the waitresses meant well, but they did not know the menu, did not engage with you, did not smile. They sometimes forgot to bring some things. This would be forgivable, but: - it was not this way before - the service here used to be exemplary. - Fischers is an expensive restaurant. Our bill was £300+ for 4, without ordering that much food and not a lot of drinks. - there is a 15% service charge included! I know it’s discretionary, but 15%! The service is not 15% service by any stretch of imagination. Anyway, Fischers used to be great. It still has a lot of good things going for it, but service needs to get back to where it was.

My brunch today with three other people was good. The food is of high quality (I had the Grostls and it was excellent and very filling as you would expect) and the coffee is very good especially the Melange which is basically a mild cappuccino. There was no room left in my stomach for any desserts which I will need to try for tea another time. A word of warning it is very busy and as it isn't massively big it fills up quite quickly. I stopped counting the number of people who were turned away for not having a booking so do reserve to avoid disappointments. The service could be better, you don't get much attention from the seemingly overworked staff, at busy times they could definitely do with more of them. Last thing, inexpensive it ain't but the quality is there, and it's central London so this is an observation, rather than a criticism.

This was my first visit to Fischer’s but I have eaten at other restaurants in The Wolsey Group. This being an Austrian restaurant means the menu is different from the other venues but still has my favourite soufflé! More of that later… My sister & I had such a warm welcome from who I assume was the maitre d when we arrived and although we were a little early our table was ready in minutes. A corner table too which was so nice. Another lovely welcome from the man who took us to our table. Although I knew I was going to order the soufflé, the menu was interesting & varied. My sister had the chicken schnitzel, spätzle & pickled cucumber which she said were delicious & a generous portion. I had the soufflé & some chips. I can honestly say this was the best cheese soufflé I have had in a very long time. I actually had a chat about this with the maitre d before we left so she could pass on my compliments to to the chef. The chips were also perfect. Service was exemplary. I will definitely be returning.

I took my parents to Fischers on a Monday, late January afternoon, to mark a special occasion, and it really was fantastic. The food was really well balanced. The only criticism would be the schnitzel was a tiny bit dry. But all the sides and accompaniment’s were excellent. The starters pretty good. Desert was fantastic (don’t normally say that) I had trifle. The restaurant is beautiful, staff are lovely. I definitely left wanting to try more of the food. Visited yesterday, Jan 15, 2024. Pretentious and over-priced food: what on the menu is promised as chicken broth/soup, turns out to be chicken bouillon cubes dissolved in water and garnished with a few slivers of a shredded carrot and a few strips of a shredded pancake. I am sure one pancake gets divided and served between no less than a half-dozen customers – judged by the amount of it I had in my so-called soup. And they charge over £9.75 for this silly concoction. Next came the crab salad... Well... for the price of over £20.00 they were kind enough to plop some canned crab meat on top of a pile of untrimmed wilted rockets, which in their turn were sat on top of some green vegetable, possibly courgettes. Salad dressing? A ramekin of mayo was accompanying this dish. Was I to spread the mayo over the rockets? Or over that green veg? Or smear it over the crab meat? I wasn't sure... I left it untouched. My partner had the Tafelspitz. Said it was OK. They also insisted we should provide them with our full name and phone number just before sitting us at a table. Most bizarre!

Came across this restaurant and was intrigued. As soon as I stepped inside, the interior took me back several decades. It wasn't exceptionally busy, staff were they but I felt ignored and as I didn't belong there. Would help if staff were more attentive or acknowledged a solo customer. Felt extremely pull off, after waiting a while, I decided to turn around and walk out. Such a shame I never got the opportunity to experience the food, just the poor service.

Arrived ready to toast the occasion with cocktails in a venue that screamed stunning and festive. The cocktails, a rare appearance, were indeed splendid. However, the service, oh, the letdown! We practically had to send out a search party for the menu multiple times. My hot elixir made an early entrance, while my partner's concoction leisurely strolled in a fashionably late 10 minutes afterward. Our dreams of clinking glasses in unison were shattered. But wait, the saga continued. Despite my plea to settle the bill while my partner was on a bathroom break, time stretched on like a languid river. The waiter seemed to have misplaced the urgency button. And then the financial aftershock hit – a whopping £45 for 2 cocktails and water. It's safe to say my wallet was left nursing its wounds after this extravagant escapade. In the end, the cocktails sparkled, but the service and the bill left us questioning whether the celebration was worth the steep price tag.

Tourists feel excluded We were greeted very coldly and promptly by the woman who is in charge of placing customers (there is a desk). She told us curtly that it was not possible to have lunch at the bar because the restaurant was expecting a lot of people on this last day of the year 2023. She added that there would be a crowd of people queuing within the hour and that she was leaving the bar to them as it was cold outside... As a result, we had lunch opposite and when we passed Fischer's again, there was no queue and no crowd (photo below). The restaurant was half empty. HOWEVER, we had been to Fischer's a month ago and had been served at the bar without any problems. Incidentally, this winter is the mildest we've had in a long time... Total incomprehension and deception of customers? We felt discriminated against, which is a shame!

Cold and arrogant service. Me and my partner fancied a particular Austrian dessert, which is on the menu of this restaurant. We were denied a table shortly after 5.30pm because we wanted to sit down for dessert and not full dinner. As soon as we said that we wanted to sit down for dessert, we were told they were fully booked when we could see 2/3rds of the tables being vacant. You advertise the venue not just as a restaurant , but also cafe and konditorei - better remove it, as you clearly don't want any customers for the cafe and konditorei part. We would have occupied a table for 30 or so minutes and been gone after that. You've completely lost us as potential customers. Next time me and my partner fancy full Austrian dinner, we will go somewhere else.

We were a party of 5 booked for 8pm. Our table wasn’t ready on arrival which wasn’t the end of the world. We seated around 2015. Seated I asked for the drinks menu. We ordered starters and mains. I asked for the drinks menu…. we waited. I eventually ordered 5 negronis as bored of waiting but it was job to catch anyone’s eye. I asked for the drinks menu again. 3 of 5 starters arrived. At least an 8 minute wait before the others arrived. No real recognition of this delay. To be fair the starters tasted good but were quite small. The drinks menu arrived but didn’t include a wine list. I asked for a wine list… you can see where this is going right…? In an uncharacteristic display of efficiency one of my friends negronis was swiped away before it had been finished. I eventually got a wine list (it’s on the back of the main menu so my bad although in my defence we were never asked what we’d like to drink) and ordered a bottle of wine. Wine arrived with 4 of 5 mains. 13 minutes later (yes we timed it as we couldn’t believe the starters were so disrupted). Wine was ok for a 57 quid bottle. My Wiener schnitzel would have been really bland without the Holdstein addition. Excellent chips. We decided to skip dessert and coffee. We asked for the bill… And then once again…. We eventually got the bill, paid and left. We won’t go back and I’m sincerely disappointed as I was really looking forward to catching up with my friends over what should have been a great meal. Really poor experience. Service was utterly woeful and it wasn’t just constrained to our surly server.

Visit date 10/12/23 We were unceremoniously and abruptly asked to leave because our 90 minute time slot was up. At this stage I was still eating my main and we had unfinished drinks. We were denied the opportunity to have a pudding and even had to ask if it was possible to finish eating what we had already ordered, at approx £50 a head. I had arrived on time and been made to wait several minutes for the table; all other members of our party were seated within 10 minutes of our booking time. It is therefore apparent that the restaurant is unable to turn around a meal in the time slot offered and is trying to maximise profit to the total detriment of customer service and basic hospitality. They also had the cheek to charge 15% service after telling us we had to leave in the middle of our meal. I have been to Fischer’s before and am also a regular customer at its sister restaurants in London. This experience fell far below what I have come to expect from this usually excellent restaurant group.

Great meal HOWEVER they added a £3.50 "dinner cover charge" on top of a 15% service charge (standard in London is 12.5%). I can accept the higher service charge, but I'm pretty sure adding a random cover charge is illegal in England. It's not a huge amount of money but it is pretty pathetic to add it. Just increase the menu prices instead of hiding extra costs. Left a real sour taste.

A corner of Vienna in Marylebone. Excellent, authentic food and service from staff who want to make sure every guest enjoys the experience. We had Borsht and käsespätzle with bacon to start with, and then Schnitzel, chips and sauerkraut. I had forgotten how the jus for the schnitzel explodes on the palate. A memorable meal.

Lovely schitzels we tried both chicken and 'mest' (veal ) though it wasn't clear of the veal was humanely raised or not. Oddly not on the menu either. For desert classoc apple strudel and kaiserachmarrn chopped pancake and cherry... Needless to say adding drinks to our meal can easily double the cost. Would go there again. Well recommended. We didn't have a booking and still got a table. Even though it was very busy lunch time although you can get easily book online

I have been coming here for years with friends, family and visitors to london. Everyone loves it. The cosiest dining room in London and the friendliest team. Be sure to reserve a table it is very popular. Extra gravy recommended :)

Never disappoints and consistently good. The food is tasty and cooked to a high standard. The staff are knowledgeable, unhurried (which is such a refreshing change from the Ivy Collection) and friendly. The ambiance is one of the best in London either its rich colour, comfortable chairs and soft lighting.

I'm not a huge fan of Austrian food but if you are then this is the restaurant for you. The only thing that annoyed me was the 15% service charge and the cover charge that they added to the bill. For that reason I wouldn't recommend.

Lunch on three occasions recently (privately and then twice with work where I had no choice) and unfortunately the same problem. On arrival you’re given a warning that you’ll have to leave in 90 minutes (not highlighted in the booking which just mentions ‘possible time restrictions if busy’) but then the service is incredibly slow (which could be pleasant for a lingering lunch if it weren’t for the time limits) ….suddenly you’re told after two courses to leave as tables are ‘booked’ (although we walked past later on one occasion and our table/others were still empty an hour later) and hustled out. Taken together with the tired decor and dirty loos the good food doesn’t really compensate - especially at £150pp. Having been three times, exactly the same pattern was repeated - so this can’t be a one-off mistake. Will never go again.

The place was quite busy and unbelievably noisy for a restaurant. Service seemed to be struggling to cope with the volume of customers. The food was well cooked and delicious but nothing special. I may give it another try in a few months.

Have been many times and always enjoyed the whole experience. Pity that it is looking now rather tired (stairs down to loos and loos themselves) and, oh dear, no longer the crisp white table clothes. All in all not quite what it once was, but still worth a visit.

Great food, nice decor but the service is just a little too slow. Waiters almost avoid any eye contact possible to not be called over. Great food though, would recommend if you're looking to have a slightly overpriced shnitzel.

While the schnitzels were a saving grace, nearly every other aspect of the dining experience left much to be desired. The service lacked attentiveness and warmth. For the price point, £285 for five people with no alcohol ordered (£57/person), one would reasonably expect a higher standard of service. Unfortunately, the dining experience did not align with the substantial cost. Adding to the disappointment is cover charge of £1.75 per person, the reality is a £2.01 charge per person due to the additional 15% service charge. This is particularly irksome when considering the sluggish service, where staff appeared to do the bare minimum. It's disheartening to encounter such practices, especially when they contribute to an already subpar dining experience. Even the desserts, which one might hope would redeem the meal, fell short of expectations. They lacked the finesse and creativity that can elevate a dining experience, leaving me wondering if there was any genuine effort put into crafting them. Overall, this restaurant appears to cater to those with less discerning tastes or perhaps a limited appreciation for the nuances of Austrian cuisine. It's disappointing to see a place with such potential fall short in so many aspects, and I've decided not to visit again.

Not the flavour you would expect but a good enough interpretation of the Austrian classics. Don't go for the Strasbourg sausages, very chewy skin. Nice atmosphere throughout. For a birthday cake order, it's best to double or even triple check that it has been taken. My order was simply missed or forgotten despite the order having been made more than 48hrs before our visit.

The food and service here is wonderful every visit. Always made to feel welcome. If you're wondering whether to say yes to the Kaiserschmarr'n, do it! I've had it all over Europe and Fischers version is THE best. The perfect end to a day in town every time.

The two rostis that me and my wife had here were both very nice, but we found the prices to be very high in our opinion. The 15% service charge automatically added to the bill was the highest of all the places we visited in London on our trip.

Wow! I absolutely fell in love with this restaurant. We stumbled upon it while walking with the family and had to come back 2 more times during our visit in London. The interior is fantastic, it took me back to good old times. The staff was attentive and super friendly. But the food! Gosh, it's definitely my favourite cuisine and Fischer's does it the best. I can't believe that everything was this good, that we even forgot to take pictures! Definitely will be my go to place when in London.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but we were absolutely shocked by the abysmal service we experienced at Fischer‘s. We first had to wait 20 minutes until someone bothered to take our order. After another 20 minutes we finally received our juices and a milk coffee - we had ordered a melange. We notified the staff of the error, but never received the correct order. We also had to remind them of our water order and mint tea - which arrived another 20 minutes later. Our food order also arrived over an hour after we arrived. I asked whether they could serve the Viennese breakfast as vegetarian version - they offered to swap the meat for a cheese platter which I agreed to. The "cheese platter" turned out to be 5 slices of the same cheese and a small bowl of gherkins - they of course forgot the egg. The kitchen should have been embarrassed to send such a sad looking plate out to a customer, let alone planning to charge £18 for this. The bread rolls I ordered never arrived and the cherry on top was that they had an item we never ordered on the bill which we thankfully spotted.

I went to Fischer’s for the national Austrian day. And let me tell you it was incredible. From staff’s dress code to big pints of beer and traditional plates. I loved everything! The food, the authentic energy all over the place. And the neighbourhood this restaurant is at! I am not bragging but loving everything about Fischer’s and can’t wait to come back here again. If I could give it a higher rating-I would 😊
