Needed a place to stay as part of my 4-day mountain bike ride from Knighton to Conwy. I couldn't find any accommodation that would accept my bike overnight so had to reroute which meant I had to use the Slater Arms and what a find this was! Mie the landlord is really friendly and welcoming, my room was super comfy and the evening meal of steak and ale pie served in a big Yorkshire pudding with homemade chips, peas and gravy was absolutely first class! Oh, and there is some cracking ale on tap AND some of Jeremy Clarkson's 'Hawkstone Lager', the sessions and the premier, which was nice 👍😁 All in all, the Slaters Arms was an absolute gem of a find and I'm sure I will be back at some point, either passing through on my mountain bike or passing through on my Honda C90 Cub or CT110 Postie bike. Many thanks Mike 👍

We ordered 60 cup cakes for a work event to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness day. We were given options for the decorating and decided on 50/50 pink frosting and some with the breast cancer logo of the pink ribbon. The cakes were divine, so happy and they were delivered right on time. We also ordered a specialty Victoria Sponge which we raffled as a prize, I didn’t win it sadly so I can’t comment on the taste but it looked divine and was in a gorgeous presentation box with pink ribbon. Thanks Emzcakes for making our event extra special.

Fab cafe and great friendly service! Coffee was gorgeous and served hot with hot milk. Comfy seating and lovely views of the castle walls. The lady who served remembered us from previous visit and was very professional

We visited on a sunny but cool lunch time out of the peak season. The location at the end of the beach and near to a car park is very handy. The beach view from nearly anywhere in the cafe is probably the stand out feature here. But the food and drink compete well with the view! We had toasties and milkshakes - both great by any standard. Possibly a tad pricey but the quality and convenience more than justifies the price. The small points for us that nudge this closer to 4/5 than 5/5 was the lack of obvious shelter available in bad (wet) weather - although plenty of umbrellas for the sun). The other minor issue for us was the general waste and mixed recycling - bins provided of course, which is good, but most items are served takeaway in wrappers which may or may not be recycleable once dirty? Either way, clearly not many customers seemed to be really paying attention to this.

Went for lunch today with my family. Came here last year and thought it was lovely, but todays experience was horrendous. 2 salads arrived in what looked like sick bowls from a hospital. My husbands ceaser salad had croutons that were soggy...literally soggy!!! He took it back and came back to the table having ordered a different dish. All of our food (5 of us) arrived at different times. 10 minutes from the first salads landing to my daughters pork tacos 10 minutes later. Then my husbands replacement dish 20 minutes later. There was no apology or explanation. The food was not good! When we arrived our table had not been cleared. We waited 15 minutes and ended up clearing the dishes ourselves!!!! At the end I complained and asked if my husbands dish could be refunded. They finally did this. But I received hardly any apology and no explanation. I felt they just weren't bothered and that they had no idea about service. Why should the salads arrive in takeaway bowls and the rest of the food in crockery? The pulled pork tacos tasted horrendous! Such a bad experience. It was expensive and the exerience was very bad. Why should we clear our own table? Why are croutons served that have been soaked all morning in water? They had no idea what they were doing. I feel hugely ripped off! And that they must take us for fools. Such a disappointment after visiting last year.
