Called in to buy breakfast early after the cafe Called in to buy breakfast early after the cafe opened. The Welsh speaking locals got their brekkie and a long chat. Spent 40 minutes waiting to get served and was blanked. When there was no one else to get served, luckily for the 'server' an English paying fisherman turned up and he went off to sort him. Blanked by North Welsh hospitality. Must be too proud for scummy, dog walking, English.

I was sceptical when my wife guided me here for breakfast. Only a small sign on the road which sends you down the old nuclear power station access road. The Centre itself doesn't look much either, but its location is perfect for views and stopping off when travelling in the area. The café is to the rear and very well maintained. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was exceptional - all local produce, cooked freshly to perfection and the best butchers bacon I have ever had. I don't think may people know whet they are missing when they drive past on the main road, but for me I'll actually divert my journey to have breakfast here.

Found by chance after turning to take some photos of the closed Magnox Power Station. This is a nice little working cafe. Looks like it may have been a canteen for the power station. The views are fantastic and I enjoyed my visit. Prices were excellent £4.50 for a slice of cake, pot of tea and another drink. It’s a chilled out place and a cafe that does just that. It’s not a tourist cafe but a cafe for locals and those fishing. Does a good pot of tea and a slice of cake. What more could you want sitting looking out over the beautiful lake and hills. Staff were very nice and quick service. Noticed some retro original 60’s light fittings in the toilets. Hopefully they can put these back into use.

We love this place and find as many excuses as possible to stop for coffee or to take visitors for the scrummy, locally sourced and good value lunches. The lake has so many moods. If you love landscape, you will never be disappointed. It's a mammoth task to recover a water environment from nuclear sludge to public accessibilty. It's wonderful to see the fishing activity growing all the time, and hopefully there will be more boating access soon. The best thing is being far from town and at the same time you are part of a friendly mixed community of locals, passers-by, power station contractors and holiday makers. Don't miss the small but perfectly formed Roman camp at Tomen-y-Mur on the other side of the road (not well signposted so check your map). Views of all the Snowdonia ring of mountain ranges from up there and a real feel for what it might have been like to be a Roman soldier in wild wet Wales. And there's even talk of reopening the railway from Bala to Trawsfynydd. Love Wales!

We both had Americano coffees which were good too. Staff were very friendly, particularly the owner who is a former employee of the power station. We called in again on our way home for take-away cakes - flapjacks and rocky roads, again delicious.Highly recommended and will return with bikes and kayak in the summer. Went fishing today at Trawsfynydd and we decided to have breakfast after a couple of hours freezing in the water. Very friendly and helpful staff. We both ordered the full welsh breakfast and sat in the spring sunshine with our food. The breakfast was just what we needed. Plenty of it and cooked perfectly. Roll on next week.

I think it really says something about a place when you ask to hire a mountain bike to cycle around the beautiful lake a day before they open proper and they go out of their way to provide you with a couple of bikes whilst busily setting up. The bikes were of amazing quality... light weight, suspension, disc brakes, perfectly adjusted gears, sound tire pressures etc and perfect for taking a steady cycle around the lake. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to hire a bike or even somewhere to stop, have a coffee and admire the view. Thanks for a great experience, it is really appreciated.

Fantastic cafe in a stunning location with great hospitality. Canoeing, kayaking and bike hire is an added bonus. Would recommend anyone to visit. :)

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and
