We had booked to stay here for one night during a road trip around Wales but, on arrival, discovered the booking had been cancelled. I think it was me, by accident… anyway, the couple who run the Slaters could not have been better. They finished preparing a room for us and our dog Pamela. We ate in the pub (which is busy, friendly and really welcoming) and the food was very high standard. The village is small but great to wander around and locals chatted to us as we went. The room was lovely too. Quite big, very clean and excellent bathroom. The outside of the pub doesn’t give a clue as to the welcome and standard awaiting you. Excellent in every way.

Embrace the charm of this cosy pub, friendly landlord and excellent well cooked food, the food is simple and great, don’t expect fussy food, this is exactly what it says it is and it does a great job of doing it. We are a family of 4 and were welcomed and throughly enjoyed our visit.

This place has to rely on word of mouth as it’s slightly off the beaten track, but my word what a little gem. Beautiful home cooked food. We chose Vegetable Chilli, Chicken curry & homemade chips, and our children had sausages and homemade chips. Plentiful portions. The selection of beers and wines were also lovely. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for our allergies. Check out my Instagram for more recommendations in the local area. @houseofninjatravel

What a great find and a brilliant place to stay on the Snowdonia Way. If you arrive at Maccynthlech train station to start the route it's only an easy couple of hours up to Corris and the fantastic Slaters Arms. It also means your walk to Dolgellau the next day is much easier and shorter. It's a very welcoming tiny pub which serves locals and travellers. Rooms are extremely comfortable and very clean. The dining room is just down stairs and there is a simple but varied menu for evening meals and a great breakfast is included in the room rate. There is a tiny bar with very friendly locals and staff and also a small relaxing snug area with TV. Absolutely superb.. well recommended.

In my line of work I travel around a fair amount, in fact I spend more time away than I do in the comfort of my own home, and I have to say that anytime I have the pleasure of staying at the Slaters Arms it is one I look forward to. Mike and Charlotte are the best of hosts, always welcoming and a great laugh, making the whole experience one that leaves an imprint on you and keeps you coming back for more. The hearty food is just what you need after a day of walking around the picturesque surroundings that make Corris such a spectacular getaway, whether that be for work or pleasure, and the rooms are cosy and comfortable, making for the ideal setting to rest up the night. All in all I couldn't recommend staying here more. Paul

Beware the vaping lady, this is real league of gentlemen territory. The pub is nicely decorated and the locals are friendly but oh my the vaping lady is something else. We had been walking in the area and one of our party was feeling a little unwell so we popped in for quick drink before the journey home. one of our party made the mistake of popping their heads into the empty back room looking for a seat. We were immediately jumped on by the vaping lady and told that it was reserved. All other seats were taken (it’s very small) so we stood by one of the tables, there is no seating around many of the tables. I noticed a spare stool in the corner so I asked the gentlemen at the table if we could borrow it. I was again jumped on by the vaping lady, apparently moving stools is contrary to their in house regulations. We explained that a member of our party was unwell but a blank response was received. One of our party needed to use the toilet to our amusement the toilet is through the reserved room. We come to Corris quite often as we’re reasonably local and it’s a nice village, great for walking. Probably better to bring your own drinks and picnic at one of the many picturesque spots around the area. The pub could be renamed The Slaughtered Lamb if it weren’t for the friendly locals but do beware The Vaping Lady

A proper pub, with proper beers (and some new to me spirits/liqueurs) and a knowledgeable and informative landlord. I suffer from severe COPD and was really breathless when I arrived, having lugged my bags up from the Corris Railway car park. Although we got there at the end of food service we were given time to settle into our room and regain our composure before enjoying an evening meal of the biggest gammon steak I have seen. I cannot express how grateful I was to the landlady, who carried my bags to our room, saving me from anxiety and embarrassment due to my breathlessness. Thanks Charlotte and Mike for giving us and our dog such a good start to our stay in Corris!

As a birthday present our adult family bought us a one night stay at the Slaters Inn, Corris. They said it would be Brian’s ‘glass of beer’. And they were right. The Slater’s is run by hard working couple Mike and Charlotte. Mike is the chef and we recommend his steak and ale pie, delicious. It’s been upgraded in the last five years by M & C and once again become a real local pub sponsoring local football team etc and serving real ale. If you’re expecting the Ritz then forget it but if you like experiencing a local pub that stays open all year round it’s a joy. Corris is an old slate mining village that boasts its own steam railway, tracks and footpaths galore, Corris Craft Centre/Services. We booked a ride on the steam train and King Arthur’s Labyrinth (an underground trip involving boat ride and 1/2 mile walk. Both not to be missed. The local lady in CCC T I C is a mine (!) of information. Oh, and beautiful soup and cawl in CCC. The Slaters is situated in the middle of the village.

on the 4th September 2020 I was in the area and found this pub on google. I just wanted a meal and a pint. I was told to sit in the back room away from everyone else in the pub and completely on my own. It was grubby and more like a utility room than a place to eat. When a table was vacates in the main bar area I asked if I could sit there. The answer was “no, it’s reserved”. The food was basic and the fish and chips was ok, but I only had about a third of a fish. It was tiny! I went for a pint at the bar and asked a guy if I could sit opposite him in the bar area. He said, yes sure. I sat down and the landlady came over and said I could not sit there as I had to be in a family bubble. So off I went back to the utility room on my own. I then saw guys come in and sit were I was going to sit. So the bar area was full of locals all mingling eating and chatting. At that point I had had enough. I slapped my half drunk pint down on the bar and asked for the bill, which was expensive to be honest. The locals were really chatty and friendly, but the landlady was anything but! So my review is, great locals, but if your not local, forget it. I don’t think I have ever felt more unwelcome by a landlady. It’s a real shame as the locals seemed great. Will not be going back.

I like traditional, and pubs not giving way to modern floors etc. This had the pickled eggs on the bar, dogs, and was falling to bits around the edges. So on the face of it tick. However the dining room was soulless unless you wanted to return to a 1980’s market cafe. Cold. Little atmosphere. Plastic chairs. Botched maintenance jobs. Food was OK. Actually quite good but very basic. We were the only ones in there on a Friday night in August at 730pm. Odd. It wasn’t the perfect country style pub or anything like it. Called in as part of a large group and they coped well. The staff were flexible about exactly when we wanted the food to be served and meals arrived within 10 mins of one another - good going for a small establishment and 17 diners. The portion size was plenty for hungry hillwalkers. Quality was good and the steaks served cooked as requested (medium-rare, well-done, etc.). Beers available happened not to have a darker (heavy/bitter) one on tap that weekend but otherwise there was a reasonable selection. The whole experience was positive and helped us to enjoy the visit. Locals we met were there pleasant and happy to chat when they might reasonably have been resentful of an invasion of their local.

We recently visited this pub in Corris over the festive period, we range and booked a table previously. This was by far some of the best pub food we had ever tasted! The drinks were a reasonable price and the food was to die for! We hope to visit again in the future!

The Slaters Arms has recently been taken over and the new menu is excellent. We had sweet and sour and ale pie - both excellent. The beer is well presented and the atmosphere friendly and welcoming.

Stayed in Corris for 2 nights and went to the Slaters Arms twice, so can't be that bad ! Didn't eat, as they'd finished serving for the night, but the Ringo's were nice as were the Pork scratchings. Had lagers, but my mates had the ales, and these went down very well.

We came here for the food, and it was very tasty, with excellent chips. With three vegetarians in the group it was wonderful to find so many choices. For the meat eaters there were lamb, chicken and fish options. The food was virtually all home made with generous portions. We were too full for dessert but there was a choice of various sponge puddings or ice cream. We will definitely come back.

The Slaters Arms boasts two bars, with a couple of well presented real ales and draught ciders. Pub grub is great, with plenty of choice and hearty fare.

Came across this pub on a wet Monday evening and what a find! Welcoming and unassuming with the best menu I have ever found in a pub. My son and husband are vegetarian and pub food can be a lottery. The menu was innovative with heaps of wonderful choices both vegetarian and non vegetarian. There was also a pool table and loads of board games to choose from. We really didn't want to leave.

The Slaters Arms keeps a well-stocked bar with two real ales when I visited, as well as proper cider. A friendly place, I didn't try the food, but saw others enjoying what seemed like well prepared home-cooked fare. Very enjoyable.

We stopped here for breakfast twice, having been disappointed by the service at another establishment. The breakfast rolls are tasty, especially the sausages, and both the tea and coffee were good. Fair prices and very friendly service. Outdoor seating where you can eat your food whilst enjoying the beautiful views of Llanberis and its surroundings. Also does delicious cakes, milkshakes and hot chocolate. Highly recommended.

I'm actually gutted to be writing this review as we thought we had found a good haunt when we first tried last week. 2 adults & 2 children all had a lovely lunch time meal the previous week so we rebooked for the 2 adults for an evening meal the following weekend. The starter was lovely for both of us but we both ordered fillet steak for our main and I don't know what meat it was but it certainly wasn't a beef steak. It didn't look like one, taste like one or even cut like one. I was genuinely gutted as it has put me off going back again because I feel like it's just rude to expect somebody not to notice and left feeling like we've been totally ripped off. You don't order a fillet steak if you don't know exactly what to expect on your plate so the audacity to think you can pull that off is unbelievable. I can't complain about the service, both times it has been spot on, lovely women but unfortunately we won't be returning after been served that.

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and me had this and it came with new potatoes and salad . It was delicious and very reasonably priced . We were naughty and were too tempted by the delicious homemade sweets and puds they had to offer . I had the jam and coconut cake and my husband opted for the apple pie. They were presented lovely with fruit and a pot of cream on the side. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Barmouth

Lovely little dog friendly cafe in the heart of the village. Warm welcome by the host and his friendly staff. Typical Welsh weather and unfortunately the biffolding doors were closed in July however will visit again when the sun is out Diolch
