My wife and I were looking forward to lunch (we have never been here before)... we asked what was suitable for vegans? The (confused) assistant behind the counter said 'we can make you some toast with oil on it'... Wow... Is that really all Artisans has to offer vegans? I would have given no stars , but Google won't let me... UPDATE: Having seen the response from the owner (albeit 2 years later) and seeing the owners defensive and arrogant response to ANY negative reviews I definitely will not be returning... I assume there is still an absolute paucity of vegan options available? Other (far better) local cafes are available, where the management do not have such a high handed and dismissive attitude towards complaints. What happened to 'putting the customer first'? Or listening to complaints with a constructive and positive attitude? And having spoken to other locals, the food is not all that either.... and if you are unhappy with the food or service don't bother complaining as you will get short shrift. Clearly the management have taken a leaf out of the Basil Fawlty school of customer service...

First time here and OMG it did not disappoint-the food was amazing! We had starters of deep fried cockles and the nachos-both were stunning. Mains we had two specials-the crab linguine with lime and chilli and a pizza-both out of this world. Service from all the staff was lovely-really friendly, welcoming vibe. Will definitely be back!

Arrived and were told to sit wherever we liked when we asked to sit outside. Waitress gave us menus, took our drinks order and then returned with our drinks. She never returned to take our food order, we had to go inside to find her. Food arrived quite promptly but what a disappointment. Bread was on the stale side and the avocados were hard and tasteless. We wanted to order a second drink but the waitress never returned to our table. I used to love it here but I won’t be rushing back unfortunately..

Café in the National Library of Wales. A bit pricey - but otherwise a good hot chocolate and cake.

Wonderful food. Great location and value. We went for tea and had the meat platter. It was very nice and plenty of options. We had a drink on the terrace afterwards. Generally a really lovely place with very attentive staff.

A great little find with very friendly staff and a good selection of food. You could even have a beer with your meal.

Nice job place but girl serving us sneezed not a tea towel and then proceeded to wipe tables with it and kept hold of it to get things out of the microwave - disgusting !

Stopped here with a big group of friends for lunch. Fantastic welcome, lovely food and really friendly service - couldn't fault anything. Recommended !!!!!

I have been to the Oriel Cafe before in fact quite a few times but mostly morning and lunch time. Today myself and my aunty of 83 called in at 3.35. i asked if they were shutting and she said at 4pm. I then thanked her and ordered tea and a coffee. The whole time it was an unpleasant experience she cleary didnt want to serve me. Admittedly the reason was in the middle of the room sitting around a table were her friends or family? The drinks were thrown down with no eye contact or any words spoken. It was an unpleasant experience as up till then had always told people to call in if they were in Newtown. wont be going again and will not be recommending. Such a young girl but really does need to learn customer service is with a smile!

Gran cafetería, en realidad uno de mis lugareños. El café es fabuloso, el personal es simplemente increíble. Sin embargo, necesita una buena limpieza, yo diría que un buen exfoliante correcto sería extremadamente útil, mirar de cerca hoy en día es en realidad sucio y ha ido empeorando con el tiempo. No estoy llegando al personal, los gerentes de área de café NERO ordenan esta tienda!

Whilst staying in the area of Brecon the children walked past this place so we went back the next morning to try. Don’t bother, food was sub standard and the quality of a below par greasy spoon. Average waffles and awful Welsh Breakfast. By far the worst place we are during our visit. Try harder!

Llamado para comer el domingo. No asado, pero había una buena selección de comidas ligeras. Ambos decidimos por Cawl con rollo de granero. Las bebidas llegó rápidamente, pero había un tronco esperar hasta la comida llegó, había terminado una taza de té en el interín. Quizás un retraso en las bebidas se sirven han ayudado? Los cuencos de cawl parecía un poco pequeña, a primera vista, pero resultó ser justo la porción. El sabor de la comida era excelente y perfecto para una tarde de domingo. miserables húmedo El personal era muy educado, y volveremos pronto, espero que el tiempo!

A lovely meal, great value and service too. Will definitely return again, and would highly recommend the full rack of ribs, which were cooked to perfection.

Perfect location with great views of Cardigan Bay. Food and service was excellent also
