Called in on the off chance with a friend, lots of reserved tables due to it being a Saturday morning, got seated upstairs in a window seat, spotlessly clean fantastic food at fantastic prices, staff were very pleasant, polite and helpful. We will be returning here soon.

First time to go here, lovely and clean, staff very helpful and efficient, reasonable price. Would have perfered the toast on a separate plate.

Hi Chris. We were at the Loaf on Saturday 17th Feb (4 of us) and just want to say how great the staff were & how amazing the hanging kebabs tasted. 100% up there with the Tapas. It was really busy there and the staff did well. They were polite & helpful and I just wanted to pass that on really. Enough negative is given nowadays but I believe great feedback should be given when deserved. Looking forward to coming back again. Thanks for a great evening!

Lovely cafe... very nice food. Too full so couldn't try the cake !!

Atmosphere ok but very loud, had to shout to have a conversation. Only ordered toasties and had to wait over half an hour for it to arrive. When it did arrive the toast was burnt on the edges. Staff have no serving etiquette, just plonked cutlery and serviette on table.

Worked up the road for 23 years and have never really heard about this place, so popped in to see one of my favourite work colleagues and found a seat, and ordered two coffees. Very nice they were and served by a well mannered at pleasant waitress "Cassie". Started to get full at around 1pm, so suggest arriving by 12pm, not sure if they do bookings. Didn't realise they did food until someone ordered Sausage and Mash which looked nice. Will go again. Michael

First visit, excellent coffee and delicious chocolate and orange cake.

Lovely lunch there. Plenty of filling in the panini and fresh salad with it. Definitely worth another visit. 😁

I took my mum and aunties in for a quick coffee whilst in the village. Even though it was busy we were able to get a seat and were served quickly. Coffee was good and service friendly.

Went for lunch as a family today. A lovely place to eat out, staff are friendly and helpful. The meals are great value for money and taste really good. Had to get a slice of cake to takeaway, their cakes are amazing. A fantastic local place to eat out.

Friendly warm welcome, nothing to much trouble, we all enjoyed a wonderful avocado chicken and bacon salad. Looking forward to returning. Dog friendly.

Went here two days in a row because our awful hotel was not serving breakfast - this place was a little haven of loveliness. Friendly staff, great atmosphere with lots of locals, food was delicious and arrived quickly, decent enough coffee, and tasty tray bakes to take away. We were made to feel very welcome and by day 2 we felt we were already part of the local crowd. Highly highly recommend

Arrived at Loaf at 1:50pm ordered food at 2pm…meals arrived at 3pm. One of the meals was still frozen inside!!! A fresh meal came out around 15 mins later so we ate separately - not a good start. Loaf was pretty full although several tables had eaten but an hour for a basic meal is quite ridiculous. Never had this issue previously, but then again we’ve only ever had Rolls or Paninis. We’ll stick to that in future. Staff were very apologetic and one of the meals was not charged for. The waiting Staff were great but then not a lot coming out of the kitchen to serve really so there was a lot of hanging around. Hopefully the next visit might be a little less challenging.

Appalling service from all three people working here, i had to ask twice if we were going to be served, they didn't seem to care that we sat there for 20 mins with no coffee and no menu while we watched 2 young staff rearrange sauce bottles ,then after waiting 20 mins to be seen the young waiter he was clueless to how long food would take after we ordered. overall poor, unprofessional cafe.

Called in for a coffee and cake, my husband wanted a bowl of chips, and we were unable to order as we were not allowed to order only sides off the menu!! Also first seat we got seated at smelt of dog urine !

Called in with friends ,had different things to eat for breakfast which all was tasty and hot. Service was quick . It was very busy with people coming and going.

In all the places I've been to for food and beverages in Ystradgynlais this restaurant and bar is the best I've been to in the town. The food here is fantastic, a superb selection of draught beers 🍻 including cocktails 🍸. As for the service overall its outstanding and second to none everytime I come here they're all very friendly but helpful. The first time I came here was back in December last year I had the Giant Breakfast with a caramel mocha the finest breakfast and flavoured coffees I've ever had. When I came here the second time it was for the quiz night I had draught Guinness and tapas. I must say the tapas was absolutely beautiful such a lovely selection the meatballs was the best. Then there was Choirs at The Con. I booked a table for two here at The Loaf for lunch at 12:00 despite the place being so busy and as one of my choristers was so tall in height to go upstairs Chris the owner/manager including his colleague Sarah very kindly found us a table downstairs on table 12 which was perfect. Although we had a 40 minute wait for our food to be served our burgers 🍔 was delicious, but delightful. I'd like to thank both Sarah and Chris in taking the time to find us both a table downstairs it was really much appreciated diolch yn fawr I chi.

Waited for 45 minutes after their lad got back from the shops with the veggie sausages for my breakfast, but alas the food never arrived. The coffee was good, service was poor.

The food was delicious. Be aware they are incredibly strict on their kitchen times and will not make exceptions. We really wanted an English breakfast but came into the cafe and were seated less than 8 minutes past their breakfast time (11.38). Before we sat down we asked if we could please have a breakfast even though we were 8 minutes late. The manager/owner I'm not sure, a woman, said she couldn't make an exception which we understood because we were 8 minutes after their close time of 11.00. however it was because we struggled to find parking. It's very difficult to find parking. I also have mobility issues so I couldn't walk fast. We would have made it there by 11 if we didn't struggle to find parking and didn't have to park 2 blocks away and walk. The food we did end up eating was delicious though. They also do not offer sweet potato fries and their reason was because everything is made fresh not frozen but I'm sure you can make sweet potato fries fresh. Anyway I have eaten there several times now and the food is always good so I will continue to go back, however the burger patties taste generic and frozen, and not home made.

Very nice place but very expensive

Service is slow. 40 min for breakfast. We came at 10-30 and got it at 11-10. I will still give them five stars for a huge breakfast portion for 9.95. It beats waiting for me personally. Latte was not my favourite. So a bit of a mix feeling but a solid deal for a big hungry man.

Had Tuna, Mayo in Jacket Potato very nice.

I've had mixed feelings for this venue. Food is ok but slow service and chips can be over cooked sometimes. Always seems busy, it's clean and prices are ok. Parking can be found in the main car park which is not far away and if lucky street parking of an hour which maybe tight if the place is busy.

I was in Ystradgynlais today doing some shopping in town so I decided to try this kitchen & Bar for a change to see what the food and drink was like there. I had the Giant Breakfast with a Caramel Mocha I must say the food, drink and service did not disappoint in all the places I've been to for a Full-English Breakfast in Ystradgynlais this has got to be the best place to go especially for their giant one. If anyone is looking for the best place to go foe Breakfast or any other food in Ystradgynlais this is a place I do highly recommend the service there from the waiting staff throughout are very welcoming, friendly and so patient when it comes to the part where they give customers time to think about what they would like to order. Asides from hot and cold drinks they also had a great range of draught beers when I do go there next I will be having something different to eat, but also this time a pint of whatever draught beer I decide to go with my meal. Da iawn I chi Loaf Kitchen & Bar team!

Disappointing visit. Called in for breakfast on my way back home. Place was not busy. Parked on street with 1 hour parking. Service was so slow that after 40 minutes I had to enquire how much longer our food was going to be, told that the order hadn't been put through to the kitchen yet. That would have left 20 minutes for them to cook it and us to eat it, so cancelled the food and paid for the drinks we'd had. I would have liked to have tried the food, but alas that was not to be. Maybe next time I'm over this way I'll try again.

We stopped in Ystradgynlais by chance whilst on our way to visit a friend on holiday. Parking was easy and we spent a very happy time wandering about the main street and buying some very reasonably priced plants. As it was lunchtime, we asked some locals where they would recommend for lunch and they gave us 2 locations; the first we came to was Loaf Kitchen Bar. It was obviously popular with locals - always a good sign - but we found a table and staff served us quickly with hot drinks. We were not diappointed when our meals arrived - they were hot, tasty and very good portions. We would have no hesitation in returning and when we met up with our friend, she confirmed that Loaf was one of her regular lunchtme haunts too.

We arranged for a few friends to get together for a stag do and booked the upstairs function room which was a great comfortable space for 12 of us. From the word go the welcome was fantastic, the food and service was second to none and we had a fabulous time! I cannot recommend The Loaf enough as the warm and friendly staff set in great surroundings really made a great night! I will definitely be going back! Thank you!!

moved to Ammanford in February and having 'days out' discovering the whole area. Called in for a coffee but decided to have lunch as well. It was a bit of a wait but very, very busy . the waitresses were very attentive and the food was well worth the wait.Hope to return again. thank you.

This was my second time visiting, and this time I took my children. The waitress was quick to see to us when we arrived and take our drinks order, that came in no time. I ordered myself a toastie & 2 Childrens meals , after 40 minutes I asked where the order was, a waitress chased it up told us another 10 mins. By this time my young children were becoming restless and bored, we waited another 10 minutes and then decided we would leave. Fortunately they advised the food was ready and that they would box it up for us. It was really disappointing , there were a few complaints while we were there, long waits for food etc. the waitress were busy and polite, but I’ve no idea what the chef & kitchen staff were doing to take nearly an hour to make a toastie and 2 burgers! The only up side is that when we eventually got home to eat our “takeout” the food was very nice.

Usually good but ordered a takeaway tonight with3 tapas.asked on phone if they will be indivudualy packed in seperate tubs as vegatarian dont want stuff mixed with meat.. but they all came together so no starters for me. £13 for vegan curry with rice not much in there menu confusing as vegans dont eat fish either but it comes with prawn crackers. They did give popadom instead on request but almost £50 for a messed up order hubby enjoyed his. Main let down was tapas being mixed after being told they will be seperate.

Good black Americans coffee. Refurbished last summer. Licensed. Have had six really well cooked, tasty main courses here and sat out in the rear garden on my last visit. A really nice lunch time experience.

Not convinced that I was served the soya milk requested. When lactose intolerant, this is important.

We went for lunch sat at table, nobody came to our table to give us a menu or take the order so we had go to the counter on both occasions. We ordered a salad and a melted cheese and tuna panini. After 45 minutes we went to the counter to chase up the order as the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. The waitress chased it up and 15 minutes later it arrived - only thing was the cheese in the panini was sparsely grated and cold and there was virtually no tinnned tuna in it. My husband despite being ravenous took it back as it was rubbish. I ate a bit of my salad but. aware that my husband was still hungry so left most of it and went to pay. The lady tried to make me pay for the panini even though it had been taken back. No apology or offer of discount. Never going back there again despite living locally.

On a cool Thursday morning my wife and I decided to make a first time visit to Ystradgylais and took the X6 bus from Swansea. On arrival, gasping for a cup of coffee, we popped into the nearest café "Loaf". The streets were quiet but the café was buzzing. It seemed to be the hub where friends and visitors would meet for a chat. Superb standards (including the toilets) friendly efficient service and excellent high quality meals. Breakfasts looked delicious but we went for the tuna/cheese melt toasties which were excellent. You may struggle for a seat at this popular venue but there is a seated garden if weather permits. Will definitely make the trip again!

Fantasic little coffee shop that easily rivals any of the costa, nero or other chain shops.

Ordered tapas incl patatas bravas and received plain potato cubes - no sight of the rich tomato sauce which typifies this dish.

Lovely place for coffee or meal but VERY noisy!

Second time here and opted for a light lunch, had a chicken Tikka baguette and a cup of tea. I explained that I didn't want salad with my meal but there was still a huge piece of lettuce inside my baguette. The baguette itself was disappointing as all I could taste was butter. The crisps served were semi stale which tells me they were left out for a period of time. The chef was witnessed by myself coming up and down the stairs coughing profusely. That didn't give me much confidence in the post COVID climate we're in. The cup of tea was very nice though I will say, and the service from the two young women serving my table was excellent.

It was the jubilee and I bought my mother and partner here for a bite to eat and coffee .was over an hour and still no coffee or food. 3 other tables had been waiting over hour and half but they gave up and left. Finally they came to ask if we'd ordered coffee which we had and they brought them out, but no sugar or spoons, I had to go and get some. Waited abit longer for our toasted sandwich's which arrived not toasted. The place wasn't full, there seemed to be enough staff, was disappointed that no one even came out to say something. Was really disappointed as it looked like the sort of place to have a nice cafe experience

On Sunday 29th May we called into the cafe a We waited patiently to be served. The waitress came over to ask us what we wanted. We asked for some menus. She came back and said quite abruptly you have 10 minutes as we are closing. We decided not to order hot food but had a latte, tea and 2 cakes, when they arrived no forks. The waitress clearly needs training on customer service.

We went with no reservation and got a table under the staircase. We ordered our food but the order got lost or something and the table that arrived after us got our food. We had to wait way longer than expected and all we got were the apologies of the waitress. The tapas were good. The main dishes were a bit disappointing. The chips were soggy, the avocado and chicken salad had chicken covered in cream rather that fried, as shown in the pictures. The cake was good. Although they ran out of chocolate fudge and chocolate fondant cakes.

Service was terribly slow on this day. We ordered within 10 minutes of arriving but didn't get our food for another 50 minutes. Also the staff didn't offer another drink whilst we were waiting.

Top Quality Service! I went with my brother for lunch and it was great to see it so busy - a good sign, I opted for a nice scampi and chips which was rather tasty, scampi cooked to perfection and shout out to the chips as they were top tier. My brother went for the BBQ Melt and it looked cracking, he really enjoyed the quick turnaround on the meal and we will be back soon for sure

Waited hour and half for our meal. Every time we go there the wait is far too long. Something needs to be done. Always told that there has been a mix up in the kitchen! However our meal was absolutely lovely.

Been twice so far for breakfast. Place is clean and tidy. The staff are friendly send polite. I have had the poached egg on muffin. Very good the coffee was good as well. Price is good as its good food and place to eat.

The best chips I've tasted ever. Burger was cooked perfectly. Homemade coleslaw. The staff were very busy on Xmas Eve but were still happy, friendly and efficient. Really great meal for £9. Going there regularly now I've discovered it. Little mix up in kitchen so waiting for order but worth the wait. Recommend.

Hot chocolate does not taste of chocolate. It's Cadbury. Why not get in Suchard and it would taste wow.Try looking after customers waiting for tables. I was horrified to see an elderly man kept waiting for far too long when tables were free.Not a caring place.

Fine if you just want coffee, don’t bother ordering breakfast, waited an hour for our order, never came. Poor table service!
