We visited after a great walk to The Prince Albert’s Cairn on Balmoral Estate. A gorgeous selection of baked goods was on offer, so many to choose from, sweet and savoury. As well as all the tempting treats there were blackboard options, my boys opted for the Hot Dog and Burger.. which were huge. Lovely coffee, served in a mug of your choice, juice for the kids and cosy blankets for keeping warm outside. This place is a true gem and worth a stop on the Royal Deeside route.

A warm welcome (including a roaring stove) - and tasty dishes - made our visit here very enjoyable. Well done - we hope to back soon.

This place is a wee gem! A phenomenal selection of whiskies, a very tasty sharing platter, all served by friendly staff who love to share funny stories. A few locals were in who also love a blether. Lovely seating area outside too. Only open Friday to Sunday at present.

This deli shop in delightful Ballater has got a good assortment of cheeses, some olives and pickles and a selection of pantry food: jam, honey, marmalade etc The cakes look delicious and the fresh fruit and vegetables were very appetising. The building is amazing and the shop windows invite you to walk in. We will try the smoked cheese we bought from you.

Great place to visit! Lovely homemade soup - butternut squash just right consistency, large bowl & hot. Served with gorgeous homemade bread (2 slices of cranberry with butter - husband had savoury scone with chutney - superb). Nice hot latte & yummy cakes. Lovely welcoming friendly hostess & atmosphere. Pizza night on a Thursday & local market on a Wednesday is next on our must visit list! Visit this cafe - you will not be disappointed! All served promptly & at a reasonable price too.

Menu was very poor choice & nothing like on website. Ended up with a poor quality wine at £9.00 per glass & a chicken burger which I didn’t eat as boring (would have preferred a McDonald’s one which would have been a lot cheaper!) Husband had cheeseburger which was average, nothing special. Place is very dark & we needed our phones to read menu. Waitress wasn’t very good. Overall, underwhelming & disappointing!

We thought the bread and pastries looked very nice, and there was a very brisk trade going on. Very disappointed with almond croissants. Dry, no taste, over baked and very heavy. The same with the pain au chocolat. Heavy, dry, afraid we did not enjoy and threw them away. The seeded tin loaf was moist and well made however. The service was quick and efficient.

THE perfect tea shop! Excellent lunch, tea and cakes. The best scones we've ever had, by far! We went back twice in three days because we loved the authenticity of this little tea shop. The lady is just like her tea shop: adorable. We had a great chat and as soon as we come back we'll be going back to see her and for the scones for sure! Thank you again Rosalind for your kindness, your smile and the lovely place you've created (and its peaceful atmosphere). We can't wait to come back and see you! See you soon I hope ! Great food, steak and fish cooked to perfection, served with really good chips. Went for deserts too, which we don’t normally go for, butter tablet ice cream hit the spot.

I checked google, hidden Scotland and this site ALL said it was open on Tuesday. Drove past our usual coffee place to come here and found a sign on the door saying closed Tuesdays!
