This place is a wee gem! A phenomenal selection of whiskies, a very tasty sharing platter, all served by friendly staff who love to share funny stories. A few locals were in who also love a blether. Lovely seating area outside too. Only open Friday to Sunday at present.

This is the second time I’ve visited, and it’s a fabulous place for just a relaxing drink, chinwag, or maybe something to eat. A roaring fire welcomes in the colder months, as it did tonight. A good personal welcome awaits, and a fabulous selection of drinks tempts from a gleaming bar. I’m definitely taking my other half back for a pint (of course I’ll drive…) The bar menu is imaginative and caters well for those who like local food, vegetarian or vegan choices. Pricing is excellent. Love the fact street food arrives and pops up every month or so, keeping the offerings fresh and on point. A cracker of a business, think it’s going to be one my favourite places in Aberdeenshire. The odd dog, live music and owls in the trees outside add to the atmosphere. Love it.

We called in today for a drink when on a hike. Cosy and very welcoming. Food looked lovely but we’d already had our picnic. Must return!

A lovely atmosphere and very welcoming staff who made us feel completely at home. The sharing platter more than enough for two and our lucky dog who benefitted from the fact we don't like scotch eggs! Extensive whisky menu and some great zero alcohol options for drivers. Only open at weekends. Well worth a visit. Storm Malik was the only reason we didn't pay a second visit.

Me and my friend visited as we live local and had never been before, On arrival we were greeted by 2 lovely ladies who were extremely accommodating and very welcoming. The menu wasn’t huge so we ordered a bit of everything on the menu, the sharing platter came and everything looked absolutely amazing! The sausage rolls were so good I could have had a few more. I tried everything on the platter and it was all delicious! I had the house white and that too was really nice! We were very looked after and will definitely be returning! A real hidden gem!

Steading bar is a charming little bar in Strathdon conveniently placed for walking to from the holiday lodges. Lovely setting, friendly staff. Very good food, however the menu is very limited. The local Cairngorm ale was worth a try. The Nachos, possibly the best we’ve had! Would have been five stars but for the tiny menu.

Had lunch here on a cold wet day. There are a couple of pavement tables but it was not a day for sitting outside. The soup was ideal and very tasty. It was noticeable that the staff were exceptionally helpful towards customers with mobility problems, going outside to help one person out of a car and through the door. Very heart warming.

Travelled 2 hours after reading reviews about this cafe - which seemed like an idyllic place to take my mother for coffee and cake, bit of scenery and a day out. Checked winter opening times which advised opening at 11:30 on Sunday - We arrived slightly early and enjoyed a short walk. We decided to go back to car when THE cafe had not opened by 11:50 - when at the car we saw a lady open the cafe - so excitedly made our way over. I asked the lady if the cafe was open for coffee to which she replied "it is but the kettle takes an hour to boil" and she walked away. Very disappointed. Had the opening times stated 1pm -- there would have been no issue. However no explanation or apology given.
