Do yourself a favour and visit this beautiful café when you're in Balmoral. The family run business is full of love, great food, good coffee and friendly staff. We loved our visit to the bakery and found there was so much to choose from! The lady was happy to assist with suggestions and would recommend the sweet chilli pastry wrap and 1 sweet!

Found (stumbled upon) this place after walking around Balmoral- what a great find. The sausage and brie croissant was delicious and the "buttery" with some jam was equally fantastic.

Wow - great bakes, coffee and service. This is a really quirky place which only adds to the ambience. We enjoyed some of the best bakes and coffee we’ve had for a long time. There is limited seating and we shared a table with some German tourists which added to the experience. The food was so good we purchased some bread to take home with us.

Excellent, reasonably priced lunch served to our table by friendly young man. The bread that came with the lunch was so good we bought a loaf, and have been enjoying. The epitome of a quality family small business.

Busy little artisan cafe, plenty of choices to suit all tastes from pastries to scones to cakes. We enjoyed our cheese scones and the apple and caramel danish - delish! Staff were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

After visiting Balmoral Castle, we were looking for a delicious lunch. We found it at the Highlanders Bakehouse! Just saying "Wow" doesn't do it justice. The setting is delightfully informal and cosy and the food ...!!!! The portions were beyond generous. The attention to detail was amazing and the taste incredible. To top it all off, the service was polite and incredibly friendly. If you do visit, even if you don't feel like dessert, you really need to try it.

Nipped past at around 16:30 at night. The big sign that said “closed” might have given it away. Regardless of that I popped my head in the door and asked the gentleman if he would sell us 2 or 3 butteries as we had heard about them. The gentleman very RUDELY refused to take any form of money from us…and instead handed me 4 butteries insisting they were on the house and to enjoy our butteries and our journey. What a very kind, wholesome man and lovely establishment which I hope continues to thrive.

This place is absolutely lovely. Cozy, dog friendly and lovely staff. The selection of food, especially the cakes is amazing ( spoilt for choice)! Love the blankets and hot water bottles! Our dog Daisy loved being pampered with blankets, treats and water. This is a must if visiting Balmoral.

Choices from soup. Savoury dishes. Hand crafted loaves of bread. Huge assortment of pastries, scones and cakes. Relaxed atmosphere with cheerful service. You may have to wait a bit the highlander bakery is busy. But there are Highland views and chatty customers.

We love pastries and we were not disappointed. In the middle of nowhere (well, not exactly, they‘re more or less neighbours to Balmoral Castle) this small bakery offers a wide range of scones, swirls and other delightful stuff. We loved it.

Paramos aquí en agosto de 2023, para hacer un break en nuestro viaje. Tomamos dos cappuccinos y un croissant por 10 libras. Todo un acierto, calidad muy buena y buena atención.

Wasn’t sure if it was dog friendly but had seats outside, when we went inside the owner had advised me that it is dog friendly inside and out , and complimentary dog treats and water available!! Food tasted beautiful and reasonably priced. Often out this area to walk the dog so will 100% be coming back .

If you’re looking for proper homemade and tasty food, it’s worth making the journey to visit this cafe. They serve, in my opinion, the best coffees and hot chocolates around. Their breads and cakes are always fresh and full of flavour. The staff are so friendly and helpful, that’s why we always look forward to eating there when we’re in the area.

Love this little place, but don’t get there often enough. Beautiful pastries & breads, eat in or takeaway. The whole ethos of the owners making beautiful hand made food & serving up the best they can for you to enjoy. Support local if you can.

We went here on a local recommendation after an early morning tour around Balmoral. It couldn’t have been handier. Outstanding home baked grub and all at a very reasonable price. Bacon and Brie focaccia was delicious and the veggies burgers in local baps were a big hit too. The breakfast menu looked so good that we struggled to choose between the options. Super staff and great atmosphere. The very best of Highland hospitality. Thank you

On a very wet day we were recommended to come here and were not disappointed. Warm and friendly welcome, excellent service and delicious lunch. Akira and Carol both attended to little details without asking - ie Carol serving an extra large portion of chips when I declined other veg that were on the menu (brother in law pleased to help me out!) and Akira giving my sister a takeaway box as she couldn't manage the whole of her panini. Brillliant. I live in Devon so may not be passing through again but would wholeheartedly recommend visiting.

Visited here for Sunday "carvery" whilst staying onsite. Service was excellent by all staff members, however we were expecting a carvery where you help yourself to a selection of roast meats and veg. This wasn't the case it was just a regular Sunday roast prepared in the kitchen and served at your table. The roast itself was very average, the only veg being peas and carrots along with cheap tasting pigs in blankets. This was priced at around £21 pp for 2 courses,I think it was done as cheap as possible. Although the food tasted absolutely fine it was by no means anything other than average and definitely not a carvery.
