Best butteries in the North East. They were brown, crispy and crunchy with a lovely buttery taste. The generous portion of soup was homemade and delicious. The personal touch of a rug over the back of your chair for your use should you need it was ace..We were also presented with a hot water bottle each..Made our day….A great experience.Thank you.

We have come to Ballater for years .. this is a new kid on the block . Small menu but that makes this all the better .. Had a delicious Cajun chicken burger on a toasted brioche bun .. delicious ! Lovely staff , modern cosy eatery . Couldn't fault it ... Love it .

This place is a wee gem! A phenomenal selection of whiskies, a very tasty sharing platter, all served by friendly staff who love to share funny stories. A few locals were in who also love a blether. Lovely seating area outside too. Only open Friday to Sunday at present.

This deli shop in delightful Ballater has got a good assortment of cheeses, some olives and pickles and a selection of pantry food: jam, honey, marmalade etc The cakes look delicious and the fresh fruit and vegetables were very appetising. The building is amazing and the shop windows invite you to walk in. We will try the smoked cheese we bought from you.

We arrived around 1.30pm on Hogmanay. I tentatively asked if they were still serving food after a very negative experience at the Bridge House Cafe just prior. Fear not, the Brown Sugar Cafe staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly and accommodating to our party of 7. We received exceptional service throughout our time there. The food was lovely and the coffee amazing - especially their amaretto lattes! We can't thank you enough for the positive experience we received that day - thank you! We will highly recommend and look forward to returning soon :)

Such a great spot to stop with kids. Not only do they have great coffee, and yummy food, they also have a beautiful view, and a play ground for children. It was just what our family needed on the long drive to Dingle. We are so happy we stumbled upon this gem.

Great food, steak and fish cooked to perfection, served with really good chips. Went for deserts too, which we don’t normally go for, butter tablet ice cream hit the spot.

I checked google, hidden Scotland and this site ALL said it was open on Tuesday. Drove past our usual coffee place to come here and found a sign on the door saying closed Tuesdays!

Menu was very poor choice & nothing like on website. Ended up with a poor quality wine at £9.00 per glass & a chicken burger which I didn’t eat as boring (would have preferred a McDonald’s one which would have been a lot cheaper!) Husband had cheeseburger which was average, nothing special. Place is very dark & we needed our phones to read menu. Waitress wasn’t very good. Overall, underwhelming & disappointing!

We thought the bread and pastries looked very nice, and there was a very brisk trade going on. Very disappointed with almond croissants. Dry, no taste, over baked and very heavy. The same with the pain au chocolat. Heavy, dry, afraid we did not enjoy and threw them away. The seeded tin loaf was moist and well made however. The service was quick and efficient.
