Popped in for lunch on a cold November as a chance to warm up. This is a lovely family run local cafe, always full of local residents which is always a good sign. Staff are always friendly chatty and nothing is too much trouble. Food is always good quality, tasty and homemade. They have a great menu from breakfasts, snacks and light lunches and do a variety of hot & cold drinks. Their banana milkshake made with ice cream is to die for. Highly recommend popping in here if you are in Golspie

The young waitress was lovely. However - the older woman was extremely rude. We went on a Saturday afternoon and as we entered the door there were a few people in front of us but the older woman shouted across as we entered the door "I'm only serving hot drinks. I have a bad back and the walk from the train station was unexpected as the station is a fair walk before you find anywhere open, which was a surprise on a Saturday afternoon. Everywhere seemed to be closed but we found the Coffee Bothy which we thought was an answer to our prayers, a chance to sit down and rest my back and have a coffee. How wrong we were, they young waitress told me I could sit at a table while we waited as she could see that I was in pain, bless her, she was so sweet. However the older woman told me I could sit there if I wanted but she would be hoovering in a minute, suffice to say we left as soon as we got our coffee. There were tables and chairs outside so we sat there only to be told by a nice lady who asked if she had at least let us use the toilets that the owner would be taking the table and chairs in in a minute. She kindly told us that we could get a sandwich at the Co-op, and that there were some benches across the car park, which is what we did. Such a shame - during the whole visit to Scotland the lady in the Coffee Bothy was the only rude person we met. One kind lady in the queue even offered to drive us back to the train station. Thank you whoever you are.

Well this is the first time I personally, have even heard of a Scottish breakfast 'crepe' let alone eaten one. But what a delight for the taste buds. A perfect mix of Haggis, bacon, tomato, egg, mushroom and cheese all wrapped up in a freshly cooked crepe. Combined with a good coffee. Perfect start to a days fossil hunting. Should of taken a pic before we almost finished 🤣. The lady running it is lovely as well 😀

Great food but serious dog problem. Previously in this restaurant I’ve been jumped on by a dog whilst seated at a table, I’ve seen a loud dog ‘altercation’, a dog brought in that I could literally smell from across the room, staff touching dogs then going about their business without washing hands (🤮), dogs allowed to roam unattended around the dining room and dogs being allowed on chairs! If dogs really MUST be allowed some common sense rules are needed. My suggestions are: •Only well behaved dogs should be allowed. •Dog owners must respect the boundaries of other customers who may not want strange dogs near them. •Dogs must be controlled and not allowed to wander freely around the restaurant. •Staff shouldn’t touch dogs during their work (this is basic hygiene). I personally believe that a restaurant is no place for dogs except (genuine) service animals but could tolerate their presence with the implementation of rules such as those suggested above and a bit of decency from their owners. As this seems too much to ask I won’t be rushing back.

I booked via FB messenger - communication was prompt and reassuring. Lovely atmosphere and the fire was burning when we arrived. Hubby ordered the Cullen Skink starter and was very happy with the generous portion and taste. That came in at £9. We eagerly awaited the roast beef dinner. Meat was tasty but very fatty. Only 2 small roast potatoes, small portion of veg, mash containing leek ( why??) 1 shop bought Yorkshire pudding and a very small jug of gravy. To say the least it really didn’t warrant the £19.95 price. Got charged for 2 pints of Diet Coke when the reality was a pint and half. Would have loved to have had the apple crumble but it came with ice cream- no custard. I couldn’t stomach the £10 charge. All in all was disappointed

A total shambles. Sunday carvery .couldn't eat any of the meat as mostly fat.Plates so small you can't get much else on the plate.waitress saw me trying to catch her attention and hid .eventually came over sheepish with bill and at that point looked at all the fatty meat on plate and her response was sorry about that .we then never say any staff .They had vanished into kitchen .On our way out there was a lady who had mobility issues annoyed there was no disabled access just a set of very steep stairs .£24 each for 2 courses and only starter choice was soup.Dont waste your time .

I liked the Coach Inn. The North bound bus broke down in Dornoch on my trip back to Wick and cut a long story short decided to visit the place as heard good reports from a passenger who had returned to the bus(lol). I found the place warm and friendly with nice people and petted friendly dogs. I only had 2 pints of Guinness but can assure you they were grand and poured to perfection and at a competitive £4.80 which for a tourist town is quality. I can't comment on any food as didn't eat any. It has a good pool table and fruit machines, a good tv next to the windows to watch the replacement bus arrive while the rest of the dummies sat on a broken down bus instead of coming here!
