Dreadful food. After waiting for more than 40 minutes our inedible burgers arrived. Mine had 2 pieces of lettuce and a dry patty that was inedible until I added barbecue sauce. By the time the sauce arrived it was cold so even less pleasant. My husband's burger had bacon that was so hard he couldn't cut it. And the same patty. I gave an honest answer when asked about my meal and suggested they needed a new cook. It was the worst meal I have eaten in years. I'm told it used to be good. Avoid it at all costs.

Arrived at close by campsite late evening and was our anniversary so decided to try loca food. Can across this pub on driving in - popped in to check still serving food (was 830pm on a Sunday) and landlady was welcoming and said we could til 9pm. We went in (2 adults, 2 kids, 2 chn) and were warmly welcomed by all including several regulars sitting at the bar - most of whom spent the evening just wanting to let our dogs!! Service was good aside from young waitress trying to clear our plates before we'd finished! Food and drinks were great. King prawn linguine - excellent; fish and chips - lovely; burger - son declared it best he'd ever had; chicken goujons - fab and lots of them. Overall a really good accidental stop - great food and welcome and good value.

We arrived late at our AirBnB so looked for somewhere to eat. Although a bit run down outside, we ventured into the Sutherland Inn, and had a really good meal. I had mushroom stroganoff, really good. My wife had an amazing venison steak. As always the beer was splendid.

The lounge bar is comfortable and the staff very friendly and welcoming. We had to what awhile as the technology for ordering food was new so there was bit of a muddle placing our order. When it got sorted out, the food was worth the wait - hot and nicely cooked. Great quality ham made the ham, eggs and perfectly fried chips a hit for my husband. I had the version stew with sticky leek dumplings. It's hard to make a stew look pretty so don't be out off by appearances, this was an excellent home made stew, I really enjoyed it. We nipped over the road for a cone each of the local ice cream for pud!

Having booked a table we arrived at 6:15pm on a Sunday Evening and were taken into an empty dining room and the waitress told us about the specials and gave us a menu. We sat down and the table felt tacky and the room could definitely benefit from some paint and new furniture. The food was cooked to order and was good. After eating the main course, we waited, and waited, heard voices from the kitchen and we waited for nearly 25 mins, just the two of us the dining room. We eventually got up went to the bar and left, not having seen the waitress since she served us our main course. We had struggled to find somewhere to eat on a Sunday evening in Helmsdale (it was the Games weekend, and we didn't want chips again) or Brora. We would really have loved some fresh vegetables, but there seemed to be a dearth on the menu. Nice food spoilt!

We stayed here for 1 night as gala week and weather gorgeous we sat outside on arrival and we were kindly let into our room early which was a nice touch. The room was very large but did smell of damp upon entering so I opened up all windows. It is a very old pub and floors very squeaky. Beds comfy and breakfast gorgeous but wish they’d offer a longer service time as only 7.30-8:45 which isn’t a big window when you’re wanting a lie in so 9:30 would have been nice. Our relatives missed theirs due to oversleeping so come on owners please allow guests to be able to have breakfast, the price paid for the rooms have more than doubled since our last stay here.

They allow you to take your dog for food which was a bonus for us. We ordered two fish, chips and peas. It took about 45 mins to arrive as I think they gave our food to another table of 4 by mistake who also then had to wait for their other 2 meals. Got there in the end. Fish was lovely but all just a bit greasy. Lovely young staff who just need a bit more training, said as positive feedforward.

Plenty of free parking across the street and a 5 minute walk from the beach. On a very busy road. Its was unusually warm for the Highlands but couldn’t sleep with the window open. Our room was also above the smoking area. Bar was well stocked and restaurant food was amazing. Great choice and beautifully presented. Good choice of wines too. Unfortunately we had a terrible nights sleep but not the fault of the hotel. Just very loud neighbours talking until the wee small hours. Take your earplugs as the walls are paper thin!! Lovely choice for an overnight stay.Arriving at the Sutherland around 4.30 in the afternoon. The check in was very quick and I was shown to the room within 5 minutes of arriving. The room was comfortably made up and the heating had been switched on prior to my arrival. Lots of wardrobe and drawer space a small desk /dresser and a small wall mounted TV along with a lage double bed made up the main room There were copious amounts of coffee and tea and a couple of packets of Biscuits and unusually a load of milk cartons. The bathroom had a large bath with a tap controlled shower a wash hand basin and the usual toilet. The pipes seemed to be small bore as there was one of the eviscerator outflows that seemed to make a bit of noise. The bed was lovely and comfortableI ate dinner at the hotel I had chicken a la Brora which was delicious. Unfortunately breakfast started at 7.30 am and as I had an early train I did not have any due to time restrictions.Over all I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay at the Sutherland the bar was well stocked and busy.If you have a shower at 6am you have to run a lot of water to get to the hot stuff. The cheese board featured 4 super yummy local cheeses with oat cakes and chutney. The “smoked salmon parcel” contained the loveliest mackarel pate. And the cream of mushroom soup was great. The local Cromarty pale ale was fantastic. They didn’t have a large selection of local gins, but the ones they had were excellent; we had a nice Navy strength one fro Orkney. In need of a warming lunch on a chilly August Sunday,we stopped at the Sutherland Inn although a couple of years ago we'd been rather disappointed. But what a change! Without losing its unpretentious appeal the place had been spruced up, the service was prompt and friendly, the real ale option was local and served at the right temperature and the day's 'specials' were attractively presented and imaginative. We both had spring rolls stuffed with haggis and venison hot dogs. Both came with salad (slaw with the venison) which was fresh and easy on the eye. Portions were so generous that I can't comment on the puddings, but the espressos were excellent. The prices seemed very reasonable and we were glad we'd chosen to stop there.

We were handed the menu twice and it was quite a while before the order was even taken; that should’ve been a warning sign to just walk out. The order of soup, two burgers and fish nd chips took over an hour to arrive. When it did, the burger turned out to be cold, incomplete and downright unpalatable. One bite and straight to the bin. What a total waste of time. The servers gave no warning of waiting time when we entered. No explanation was given for the state of the food nor was it discounted from the bill. Booked for dinner at 7pm and it took over 3 hours for a 3 course meal. Food quality was very good but the service was appalling. Basically one waiter covering the dining area with periodic help from a barmaid. Both were totally unfamiliar with the menu. Had to go and check with the kitchen what starters and main courses were gluten free for one guest. When it came to the desserts we asked for the Ice cream selection and said to ourselves in advance it’s odds on they will have to go to the kitchen and ask again. Correct! The menu remains the same throughout the week and possibly longer yet the staff make no effort to acquaint themselves with its contents. Various trips were made back to the kitchen empty handed when empty plates could have been cleared from tables and the service speeded up. Staff are in urgent need of training and supervision .

Superb meal off the Specials Menu (what a difficult choice); scallops & chorizo salad to start, absolutely delicious, then went for the venison, treated with respect by the chef and exceptional. Two others in the party chose off the standard menu and were not let down. Brora chicken, tender and well presented, properly cooked fresh veg (I'm shocked at how difficult some places find that!). Bacon & cheeseburger was another choice - the 60+ year old who chose it said it was the best burger he'd ever eaten. All finished off with Capaldi's ice cream. Glasses of both red & white wine were drunk by members of the group - both excellent. Staff were young, well trained, happy at their work and good at what they were doing (again I'm shocked at how difficult some places find this - it's not something you can just do someone needs to show you!). A small friendly local with fantastic food...thinking about when I can come back again!

On holiday in Brora and decided to go to the Sutherland Inn tonight for a meal. It was lovely and would definitely recommend a visit. The staff are friendly and efficient service. I had cream of mushroom soup which was delicious. My husband and I both had the chicken a la brora one with potatoes one with chips highly recommend trying this it has a beautiful creamy sauce. My husband had Disarano cheesecake with ice cream which went down a treat. Wether passing through or on holiday make sure to visit as you won't be disappointed.

We stayed one night whilst passing through and enjoyed our stay. The room was a little old fashioned but comfortable. The evening meal however was excellent.

I ordered the chicken burger which had no mention of breading or frying. I got essentially a huge piece of fried chicken breast literally drenched in sauce with fries and onion rings plus a small salad. I had to remove a ton of sauce and breading just to be able to eat it. If that is your thing great but it isn't mine.

This pub is on the main road, there is a car park in the road almost opposite the pub. The menu has a good selection of pub food, which was reasonable priced. Our food was good, it was well served by a friendly and pleasant waitress.

We visited Dunrobin Castle on a cold spring morning and the warm food was delicious. For such a small restaurant they offer a good range of snacks/meals to eat. There was plenty of seating both at the Inn and in the fire room. The staff were friendly and helpful whilst being busy serving everyone. Lots of different nationalities there and all served with a smile and patience.

We were returning from Dunnet head to Inverness and it was raining and we had an appetite so the Sutherland Inn attracted us. Inside the atmosphere was warm and welcoming with the locals in full swing. Always a good sign when the locals frequent a place. Our table by the window had a fabulous view over the stream and it was relaxing. Service was prompt and friendly and we soon had a bottle of red wine and some warm rolls to munch on. Entree of soup and the mushroom dish was a good start. For mains I had the chicken with chili sauce and my wife had scampi. Both mains came with a fresh salad and hot crunchy chips. We were so relaxed by now we decided to try dessert and the cheesevake and sticky date sponge made for a perfect finish with an Irish coffee. What a great dining experience that was.

This must be one of the worst pubs I have been in. Tables were filthy , floors were sticky and staff were uninterested. We ordered two drinks and could not find a clean table, then after using the toilets and actually feeling the stickiness of the floor , left. There are so many nice bars in this area, if you see it ... walk on by ! Giving it one star is flattering!!

Fantastic to have so many GF options to eat. We both opted for GF pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and a coffee. The coffee was perfection and the pancakes utterly delicious. Big, fluffy and just THE best find in Inverness! Thank you ❤️

Visited 3 times in 5 days and probably spent more on coffee than we did on merchandise (and Tiso is an excellent shop by the way). Excellent coffee, lovely cake selection and a truly fantastic full English/Scottish breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. View to the Cairngorms outstanding and our doggy companions most welcome.

We booked a meal expecting great things and with a hefty price tag we thought we were in for great treat. This restaurant over promises and definitely under delivers in so many ways. We had the 5 course set meal at £65.00 per head excluding wine. Very expensive considering that for the same price in Manchester, we can go to James Martins restaurant and have a 4 course full tasting menu with full wine flight for £59.00 per person, and a far better experience. We found the very small shared plates were far too small. Example... one course was a scollop that was sliced into 4. Over all lacking in taste and quality. Over promises, definitely under delivers.
