the rooms are clean, but the price list for the restaurant is cheaper in the room, if you want to sit directly in the restaurant, the food is more expensive. The cheaper price list only applies to takeaway. If you are a hotel guest, you are disappointed.

Curry's were tasty. Beer abit overpriced.

Hotel runs by Chinese food next door, my partner said he can smell it all the time, but I didn't feel anything. Nice stay for us, but really not recommending Fort Augustus, when we arrived not much shop opened

This place is like a fairytale. The lodging is nice. We were only here for one night but we were comfortable. The bathroom is a good size.

Worst hotel we've stayed in. Bed smelled like someone had been sleeping in it and they didn't wash it. Hairs in the bath. Barely any water coming out of the shower. Smell of the restaurant in the room. Location is nice though.

It's a shame that you have to give stars. Such a run-down shop doesn't deserve a star. It's an absolute disgrace that it's not labeled as a Chinese fast food shop.

Fort Augustus is a small town so the hostel here I would say that we cannot expect much for a luxury stay but one night is just nice for the stay and walk around the town. Loch Ness is the nearest spot which is a walkable distance. The environment is quiet and comfy. However, the shops around close quite early around 8pm but there are a few bars if would like to get some drinks.

We only had lunch at the Chinese Restaurant

Myself and my wife ate here last night and although the food was ok the service was poor. The restaurant was more like a bus stop cafe with London prices.

We walked-in from travelling from Edinburgh, hence, we didn't use their hotel service. The food was delicious and the portions were huge.

Basic hostel, no breakfast available. Close to the Caledonian Canal and the Lochs at Fort Augustus. Good for 1 night during our Great Glen trekking...

We had our lunch here when visiting the village. Had Chinese food and it tasted fine.

The hotel team is not very friendly and when we arrived there we didn‘t feel very welcome. The owners have a chinese restaurant and they are more focused on that than having a hotel. The rooms are small and offers the minimum. The room wasn‘t clean at all, hair in the shower and some stains on our bedsheets. The little village is really nice but you don‘t really have to stay for a night.

The food would be 5/5. Excellent, tasty food, fast service and big portions. Expensive but quality justified price. Brilliant Chinese food! However the interior and exterior were dire. Felt like the building hadn’t had money spent on it in decades. We sat outside, tatty benches, weeds everywhere, cigarette butts on the floor and taupe palling held together by masking tape. A real shame.

First of all the menu outside the restaurant is the take away menu, so add £$5 to every main meal. Service grim and the food wasn’t much better. The manager sat at the front rolling his miserable roll ups with a grin on his face. AVOID

We were on a girlie road trip and turned up in fort augustus for our last night. We chapped the door of the Richmond house hotel and they confirmed they had a room which suited our budget. They showed us a beautiful twin room and their on-site parking. By the time we came round with the car they showed us another room in the form of the flat upstairs. It was delightful and just what we needed with a bath. Place was absolutely spotless and Helen was a lovely host. We booked a table in the restaurant and they provided the most amazing Chinese food. Thank you. We will be back for definite (oh they don’t do breakfast but there are plenty of cafes in fort augustus that serve breakfast). This was not a downside from our point but just a mention here in case people are looking to have it included. X

We opted for this Chinese restaurant as a change from the usual 'local' options. The restaurant was busy all evening with sit-in and takeaway customers. We enjoyed the food which was tasty and spicy although the presentation could have been better. Service was reasonably efficient. The decor looks like it hasn't been refreshed in about 30 years, which makes it a bit depressing. Overall though, worth a visit for the food, if not the ambience.

we stayed in a lodge close to Fort Augustus and chose here for an evening meal (my 6 yr old sons first chinese restaurant) and the food was lovely. very happy to recommend stopping here for dinner.

Nice meal. Served hot & did not wait long. Chicken satay starters very tasty. Rest of meal tasty. The only negative was the tofu which is a shame. Place was busy but not crowded. Would go again.

Visitado en mayo 2018. Después de la travesía por el Lago Ness, teníamos el tiempo justo para comer antes de coger el bus de regreso. Entramos en este local, en ese momento como suele decirse estaba abarrotado, no había lugar para sentarse, hablando con el dueño amablemente nos hizo pasar a una pequeña sala que utiliza alguna vez como comedor. Estuvimos a gusto en esa pequeña habitación alejado del ruido, hicimos acopio de fuerzas y dimos las gracias al propietario por su amabilidad. Las fotos que hicimos hablan por sí sola. Gratos recuerdos.

This is a tired out hotel with a Chinese restaurant in it it was ok.

The Chinese version of Faulty Towers. A interesting experience one in which I would not like to endure again. Bathrooms across open corridor, you can hear your next door patrons from breath to fart. Works going on until 23:00 a hammer drill. Food for the restaurant left on the front door step in the rain and had to be climbed over in order to leave. Toilet backflushed and filled with unknown faeces to rim. I would avoid this so called hotel.

The food was lovely but the service was awful. The food came on plates and we had to ask for for plates to eat off of and a serving spoon! It felt a bit like Faulty Towers. They didn't get our drinks order right and took ages to get the bill! As we were on holiday it didn't matter too much as we wouldn't be going back!

Found this place following a google search and liked the look of the food posted. Turned up for our meal, somewhat surprised to find it was a Chinese restaurant not as shown in the photos. Turns out the recently changed it over but pics not updated doh! After the initial confusion, still are here. Food was very good and service also. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

My partner and I booked one night here on our Scotland holiday. No mention of the hotel being attached to restaurant. There was no partition separating the restaurant from the rooms so you could hear everything going on downstairs. Cutlery being dropped, telephone ringing for takeaway orders, people talking etc etc. The plumbing was particularly terrible and incredibly loud. We could hear other guests using the shower and toilets at all hours. We were asked to write our breakfast choices down for the next morning which we did and duly handed in. There wasn't much point. We asked for cereal and got toast. The one poor woman serving was getting pulled left right and centre by guests asking for things they'd not received such as hot drinks or even their food. The room was clean enough and tidy with nice complimentary toiletries but nowhere near worth the £95 we paid for one night. If you're planning on visiting Fort Augustus I wouldn't bother. Not much to do. Not worth the stay. Maybe a visit passing through but not an overnight. Definitely avoid this place unless you're desperate (like we were as everywhere else booked up!)

Hotel, Chinese restaurant and pub all in one. Very slow breakfast service but overall nice and clean with friendly staff.

Well where do I start! We booked at 3pm for a 7pm table. No other bookings in diary should have rang alarm bells! So we arrive, are taken to a table, we are sat in the corner of what can only be described as a room with tables! There was no background music, no pictures on the walls nothing! Wipe clean glittery table clothes that felt sticky. We were handed a menu card, my partner asked if there was a set meal which was met with a glazed over look! We ordered a bottle of wine between the three of us. Then ordered starters. When they came out we asked for them to be laid out across the centre of the table and for extra plates so we could share starters! This again was met with a glazed over look, but we got the requested plates. Shortly later the most bizarre moment I have ever come across in a “restaurant” happened! A gentleman dressed in full Lycra suit came through the centre of the restaurant along with his pushbike! He stopped had a conversation with another customer and then carried on his merry way. At this point we asked for our bill. To our amazement the staff were shocked we didn’t want to stay for mains! The whole experience set us back £40 for three starters and a bottle of Pinot! It is the quickest I have ever drank a bottle of wine! Most definitely do not recommend and won’t be back!

Staff were friendly and welcoming. The Chinese food was ok, beer garden was a bit noisy later in the evening.

Stayed in the accommodation. It very clean and well kept. Bed was very comfy. Although situated on the main road, it was surprisingly quiet. Restaurant below was delicious. Staff were friendly and service was always with a smile and a wave. Would highly recommend to travellers who is looking for a pit stop going into skye especially with the added bonus of not needing to hunt for a delicious meal.

Very bizarre experience for dinner at Richmond House. Kids really looking forward to a Chinese meal but it was not like anything we'd ever eaten before. The "Thai" green curry was watered down coconut milk with six Bay leaves and vegetables in. Which I doubt has even been stir fried first. Not a hint of flavours I would have expected, like green chilli, coriander or lemongrass Hong Kong style King prawns could barely be bitten into Beef in black bean was OK, but not a familiar flavour Three bowls of rice came out worryingly quickly given there was only one other table in We sat outside and the marquee lights were turned on for us- an odd purple almost UV light that you'd normally only see in nightclub toilets. Since none of us were snorting anything, it made all our food look pinky orange which distorted flavour even more. But still, at least that now matched the pictures on the menu.. Have a fry up or or a burger, the chef looked infinitely more comfortable with that than Chinese. £70+ not well spent, it was too expensive for horrible food

I’m so sorry but the price per item was double the price of even London. Clearly a tourist trap. We went in, saw the prices and immediately left and had battered haggis and chips around the corner and that was the price of one item for two people in the Richmond! People, do yourself a favour and get your Chinese fix in Glasgow or Edinburgh if you’re touring Scotland. We were only here for a night and saw the food that was coming out of the pubs in the area and it looked great it. I fancied Chinese food that night so that’s what you do isn’t it!? So I’d advise you to try some Scottish food in the area instead and give this restaurant a serve unless you’re loaded. That said, we never tried the food at this restaurant so I can’t comment on it. We were just so outraged at the prices we couldn’t justify staying there. Once again, sorry.

Came here to watch the football as it's description as whisky bar with pub food sounded perfect. Arrived to find that it...kinda is a bar, but is mostly actually a Chinese restaurant. The food was amazing The atmosphere was great Scotland held England to a draw at Wembley Would highly recommend

Had a Thai red curry here, which is a regular dish I eat when I am out and about. This place served me a fairly watery sauce totally loaded with salt. I like my food salty but this was almost inedible. Terrible. Anyway I guessed...

Worst Chinese I’ve ever had, I travel for a living and have ate at hundreds of these places over the years, up to now this is the worst.

We called in after being in another restaurant, we wish we had came across this pub restaurant before we had eaten elsewhere. Very friendly staff made us feel very welcome as the place we had eaten in earlier did not.

We stopped for a pint in their beer garden at the rear of the hotel. Friendly staff, good service and thankfully a gas heater in the beer garden tent. Although it’s May, it’s freezing cold.

Staff were lovely but the bed was at slant hense kept rolling out ! Breakfast was good ! Loud traffic , but excellent loccation for watching boats going up and down the lock towards Loch Ness or onward towards Fort William ! Absolutely stunning scenery 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌅since the weather was exceptional for Scotland !

I know the world has new challenges in the COVID era, but serving poor quality food shouldn't be one of them. Disappointing meal with flavourless lamb, served with tinned veg, and lumpy mash. Now regret I didn't walk the extra 5 mins to the Boathouse...

Make no mistake do not eat here. The food is dreadful. We had salmon salad which had a dry grey lump of something pertaining to be salmon. Sent back and the chef (?)had the cheek to argue that it was ok. Partner had scampi and...

Lovely little hotel, staff were wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfy! Cracking fish and chips as well.

Just stayed here for 2 nights. The only issue I had was the stairs up to my room on the 2nd floor. The owner was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great. We were certainly set up for the day. Bed was comfy....

Lovely, quiet pub a little off the main strip. The food was home made and good value for money. Staff were friendly and efficient. Definitely would recommend.

The room we got was at the very top of 2 dreadful flights of stairs.. ( quite dangerous imo) The building is old and the walls are paper thin.. at one point I thought there were other people in our room.... The staff were OK.....

We frequently went for lunch and dinner at the bar, and cannot sing enough praises of this place. The staff are absolutely lovely and the food was amazing. It was so warm and welcoming and I highly recommend it be anyone’s go to place in Fort Augustus.

Avec une amie, nous avions organisé un road trip en Ecosse de fin août à début septembre. 16 hôtels, 1 voiture de location et les billets d'avion réservés fin janvier, début février. Et le covid est arrivé malheureusement. A cause du virus 2 hôtels ont annulé notre réservation et easy jet a annulé nos vols. Nous avons donc décidé d'annuler notre séjour et de le reporter à la même période en 2021. Le loueur de voiture, Easy jet nous remboursent. 14 hôtels, même ceux qui étaient "non remboursable ou non modifiable" nous remboursent ou nous font 1 avoir. 14 hôtels sauf 1, le richmond hôtel. Si tous les autres hôtels ont répondu au mail que je leur avais envoyé, le Richmond Hotel n'a pas répondu. Il ont répondu quand je leur envoyé 1 second mail. Et devant les complications mises en avant par cet hôtel pour obtenir 1 remboursement (demande d'annulation par paypal alors que paypal n'est qu'un moyen de paiement et non une centrale de réservation) nous avons préféré abandonner et tant pis si nous perdons 90 £ avec le Richmond hôtel, nous savons que les Ecossais dans leur grande majorité (14 hôtels sur 15 nous remboursent. Bravo à eux) sont des gens raisonnables, compréhensifs et généreux, surtout en cette satanée période de covid. Par contre le Richmond Hôtel !!!

We just stopped for a bite to eat. the soup was delicious and the fish and chips were excellent.

Popped in here for a couple of drinks, it was a lovely little bar with a great outdoor covered and heated seating area. The staff were kept very busy during our visit but Sean was a great character and took time to speak to everyone and helped us out immensely.

We went there twice for delicious and affordable food. I actually enjoyed Haggis, Neeps and tatties that I ate it twice over 2 days. The is alcohol as well. Nice spacious place with both indoor and alfresco dining.
