Amazing coffee and breakfast roll

The atmosphere was great but I think I must have ordered the wrong thing. The pancakes seemed to be frozen and reheated.

We needed a quick lunch and their egg and bacon roll was perfect, prepared quickly and with a smile. The roll was very flaky and good sized. Thank you !

Great coffee shop. Wife loved the Eggs Benedict with salmon. My pancakes with bacon and maple syrup was great ( and Canadians know their maple syrup.)

Quietly minding one’s own business, having been 2 pax 40 min, then now alone 40min!!! doing some social media personal items on phone at this coffee shop, having spent over £21 already, likely more to follow!., Approached by extremely RUDE Middle aged man from shop. Asked to leave as it was lunchtime!!! 1.30pm. Customer service skills Nil. Attitude -arrogant/rude. opportunity to upsell failed! believing there were plentiful people waiting to sit down, i was very surprised when i stood up to see tables of 2/3/4 all over the place empty and emptying by other patrons for the 3 -yes 3 waiting customers. Ridiculous purile behaviour toward a customer A poor manager or even owner. Personally coming from 4 Decades in the Hospitality Industry - Individuals like this should not be in charge or even be in the industry. I was not intending to question him, yet i took the opportunity as i left - to reiterate i was a customer, i was awaiting someone, and i may well have spent more money! To be told Do not lecture him and for a tap on his watch as to how long i had been there (Wasn’t aware of a time limit or was there a notice) Having scrolled and read ! other reviews!, This is not the first complaint of this type!!! . What example is this, setting to your young staff, who were polite courteous and nice. No wonder with people managers like that, they leave in their droves. probably only paid a few pounds an hour for abuse ! Go to M&S they are a great employer.

This has been my ‘go to’ place for lunch since moving to Inverness in 2021. Great food and friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere in the place too. Highly recommended.

Bright and airy, comfortable seats. We ordered americanos, a cheese and sundried tomato panini, and a bacon sandwich. The food was warm, fresh and scrumptious. The staff were pleasant. The tables were kept nice and clean. Nice spot.

This little coffee shop was the gem of Inverness. Not only was the service super efficient and the cosy interior particularly clean and inviting, but the quality of the cakes and food is AMAZING. I had a cappuccino and the famous toffee cake and it was truly the best cake I have ever had. Also super well priced with friendly staff.

We popped in during a day trip to Inverness. The staff couldn't have been more friendly & helpful and the coffee & scones were superb. If I had room I would have had a naughty cake which looked delicious. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

It's called coffee affair but the coffee is worse than awful. They teenage it for us, no questions asked but it was still awake, I think it took her 20 second to make it. Lift your coffee game guys The food is fantastic The price seems very expensive. A toastie was 10 pound.

Nice staff, nice food. We had plain Benedict and mozeralla panini. Food was really delicious and coffee as well.

It’s a modern cozy coffee place. You get a variety of options like Scottish egg Benedict and toasties and paninis. 1 chicken option if u want that. Coffee options too. Taste wise I didn’t like much for the sandwich.

Great food and service from all the team that must make the owner very proud

I had an absolutely delightful breakfast at Affair . The highlight of my meal was the incredibly tasty salmon and perfectly cooked Benedict eggs. Each bite was a burst of flavour, and the hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy. To top it off, the coffee was amazing—smooth, aromatic, and the perfect complement to the meal. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to start their day with a delicious breakfast!

Very irritating experience. The chai latte and the ambience in the café were good. Unfortunately, we had a very irritating experience with the staff. After 45 minutes, a woman came to our table and asked if we were done (we had a teapot and a chai latte) and says they need the table and we should leave. At that point my friend hadn't finished her tea. I told the waitress that I thought it was rude to throw people out of the café if they hadn't finished. I also explained that we would have liked to order something to eat, but that we were leaving now. There were still free tables in the café and we didn't take anyone's place. She replied that it was unfriendly of us to occupy the table for an hour when we were only there for a drink (we weren't even there for an hour), she also said that she knew people like us who wanted to use the café as a waiting room and that she didn't want to argue with me. I was so shocked by the unfriendliness that I would like to share this. If you're looking for a café where you can have a drink in peace, this is the wrong place. I understand that you can't sit there all day but we wanted to order something to eat and a café should also be a space to enjoy and I find it very sad that you are treated badly here if you only order something to drink.

Very, very average food. Everything just dumped on a plate with minimal and very tired looking salad, a few crisps and a dollop of coleslaw. Not worth the money. Service fine, but let down by the quality of the food. Shame!

Being nice by giving it 2/5. Nursing home food and chain service standards. Coffee to avoid. Eggs benny tasty but small and oddly presented with salad scattered around the plate. No table service - apart from the food, presented without cutlery which I was then told I had to get myself from where the waitress had just walked past. Miserable experience for the prices.

A 5 stars coffe place. Amazing service!! Girls are always smiling and happy to help. The iced latte is the best in town. Also food. Everything always fresh and, what's important, home made. Highly recommend

Really rude staff, didn’t want to fill my water bottle even though I was a paying customer. They said I should fill it in the bathroom, and when I said the sinks are too small they invented a series of reason why they can’t fill my water bottle! Such a shame because the cakes were good but really bad service…..

Only guide dogs allowed in. And I do not only leave one Star reviews, only when I have not been able to get in at all.

Absolutely loved this place what a beautiful place inside with lovely staff always smiling 😁 I had a chai latte which was very creamy and delicious 😋 I also had chocolate cake it was like heaven so light and delicious yummm definitely going back again !

The drinks were good but I recommend not going for the pancakes. They are basic, thin and not filling enough for breakfast. Also, they need more maple syrup.

What a gem. Lovely friendly service. And the chicken and sweet potato soup made by Carolina was especially delicious. Fantastic.

Coffee was good, but they asked us to leave after an hour, and we hadn’t even finished our drinks yet, nor was the cafe full. I felt a bit irked that they were timing us in the first place. Will take my business elsewhere. Edit in response to owner: Please see attached photos of our coffees from not one, but TWO visits. We actually returned because we loved the coffee so much. We were nothing but kind to the staff and other visitors. We left when requested, and we were not given the option to order more, nor did we have time to finish our coffee. We then had a MUCH better experience across the street, hence the 5 star review there. If you don’t want honest reviews on bad experiences, you should reflect on how you treat your customers. You should reflect on your behavior, instead of claiming false visits. Updating review to 1 star, per your response. Advice to others: take it TO GO

Nice coffee, pleasant cafe, but a bit put off by the plentiful little warning signs that we'd only be allowed to stay an hour maximum, and that laptops are not allowed. We didn't have any plans to whip out a laptop, but we quickly had no desire to stay for more than an hour either. I get it - they've got a business to run - but there are subtler ways to deliver that message than blu-tacked laminated warning signs.

Came in for a early bite and coffee. Place was so cozy. Zoe was very helpful , and I would recommend coffee affair for anyone looking for good food and coffee!

Great place with delicious food and nice service

One of the best places to have breakfast, croissants are delicious and the eggs Benedict to die for. Definitely reccomend stopping by.

Coffee and cake were delicious, the service was very friendly and attentive and if you can sit outside, the stay is almost perfect. We were able to sit outside, which was lovely when the sun was shining. We would particularly like to mention the very friendly service. The café obviously has a very good hand in selecting employees. Congratulations!

Bizarre no laptop rule. Waiting for a car service, having spent about £50 in 2.5 hours on Brunch, coffees and then lunch - pulled out a laptop for about 5 minutes before being told no laptops in cafe rather embarrassingly in front of other customers. In fairness there was a small sign in the door. Made me feel most unwelcome. A shame, given rest of the staff were lovely and the cafe was perhaps 30% full. Especially when I wasn't using their resources/power/wifi for this and had spent a reasonable amount of money there. Used to preferentialy use this place when in Inverness. I will think again in future.

Lovely hot chocolate & pancakes, just what was needed

Went for coffee and cake in the afternoon, it was definitely worth it. Pastries tasted good and the coffee was also available in different sizes.

Regularly visit for the relaxed ambience and good quality food and drinks on offer. Competitively priced and the staff are very pleasant and welcoming.

Cozy atmosphere also to sit if you travel alone. Muffins are excellent as is the coffee.

Very average coffee and food. The flat white was flat rather than creamy, not much care taken with the coffee. My croissant was stale, and my wife didn't enjoy her chocolate slice. But there's plenty of seating.

Lovely place with helpful staff, warm atmosphere and absolutely the best coffee.

Good location in Inverness. The place is clean and there were plenty of places to sit. But it has an identity crisis. Is it a restaurant or a cafe? They sell everything a cafe sells and call themselves coffee affair and yet have restrictive policies like 1 hour seating time only, no board games, no laptop. Even fine dining restaurants allow more than an hour. Also we asked very kindly if we could have our water bottle filled. They asked us to go to the toilet and fill it ourselves. The cafe was half empty, it's not like they had so many customers that they didn't have time to just fill the bottle. Very unfriendly especially since the food is just avergage for Inverness standards.

I cannot recommend for breakfast. My eggs Benedict bread was rock hard, the egg completely cooked through and overall not very tasty. The pancakes were clearly frozen/pre made. Disappointing.

"No board games allowed" - kicked out for a quite game... Edit: I am totally aware and understanding that we should probably have acted differently ourselves and after the total of 2 hours (if we hadn't left by then) we should purchase another drink or some food and that if there were lots of people coming in, the cafe would need a table and we should leave. However this wasn't the case. The cafe was not busy and there was no one needing our table. We were asked after only an hour for another drink and we said that we were okay for now (with intention of getting something a little later) as we had only recently finished our drinks and wanted to wait a short period before getting a second round as a group. This was met immediately with being asked to leave. Are you requesting that we purchase something as soon as we finish the first thing without delay? There were others in the cafe who had been there the same amount of time without purchasing another item and they were not asked to leave either so we were left confused about this also. I have reflected on this and of course we should have just purchased something else when asked however I stand by the fact it was unnecessary to ask us to leave after an hour and to give the reason of "no board games allowed" is slightly unwelcoming. I am sorry if there has been a misunderstanding but if your policy stands that there are no board games then I cannot recommend the cafe for people who like that kind of thing. If this isn't your policy then why were we told to leave on this basis? I have genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere, food and service here in the past. The staff and friendly and it's a comfortable place to be. However I am confused why we were met with such unfriendliness in this circumstance. Hope you can help clear things up. And I'd be happy to replace this review if we can as I'd prefer to be able to recommend this place again like I used to. ------------ I very rarely leave reviews but was left very frustrated when we were kicked out of the cafe for playing board games. The atmosphere was honestly nice and I have been a couple of times before. We bought drinks and after only 1hr of sitting in the cafe we were asked to leave because we'd just finished our drinks and wanted to wait before getting another whilst playing a quiet board game. We tried to finish our game quickly but before the 2hr mark had come we were told "No Board Games Allowed here" so we had to leave immediately. The cafe wasn't even busy at the time and there were plenty of tables of all sizes so we weren't holding up their business. It ruined a nice day with my family that were visiting Inverness. I have no clue why the staff member was adamant to get us out and we would have bought another drink if we weren't asked to leave. On principle I wouldn't recommend this cafe at all now and from now on I won't be going back which is a shame.

Came here to sit and enjoy a drinks with family on a holiday to Inverness. Had a wonderful milkshake, good price and just had a lovely vibe to the place! We were playing a game that was quiet and did not disturb anyone. However the reason we were told to leave was that 'no board games are allowed'? Bit confused as we would have ordered more drinks to stay longer but this was not the impression we got. Also there were customers that had been there longer than us and no one came to the table to tell them to start heading out as per policy? Just a bit confusing to experience all this! Still Inverness has my heart and I will definitly visit again just maybe not this coffee shop (and definitly not for long!!). I would still recommend this place if you intend not to stay long :) But anyone wanting to study or work I would not advise. Thankyou.

Over priced eggs Benedict for £9 odd the eggs were over done. The food came out that quick they must of been microwaved. The menu is a bit misleading as they can’t make anything up you have to pick from fridge displayed. Nice display of cakes.

I was looking for a much needed good coffee and I got wonderful one ☕️ !!

So good we went twice on our weekend away , eggs benedict and flat white to set you up for the day , just perfect. Service was fast and friendly and its clean and has a large selection of sandwiches , cakes and brunches to choose from

I ordered an Almond Croissant and a Flat white, Total was 7.15 The Almond Croissant was a little undercooked. Both the frosting and almond paste were sickly sweet, so overall it turned it into sort of a dessert rather than a pastry. It wasn't very good . The coffee in the Flat white was burned so it turned quite bitter, it was also a little stale. Overall it wasn't very enjoyable, it tasted exactly like any big chain coffee, so I suppose if you like the taste of big chains and the serving size of small independent coffee shops you might enjoy this. Overall not a great experience.

The barista, he seemed not happy. Coffee was ok. 2 girls staffs were friendly!

Super sweet service. We ordered ham/cheese toast and to our surprise it was served with coleslaw, chips and salad. Delicious!

Asked for filled rolls. They had no rolls and although buttering bread in front of us, unable to give us a hit filled sandwich as they were not ‘trained’. Absolutely unreal that a fried egg and bacon could not be put on buttered bread. Worse - Harry gows across the road if they needed rolls Left immediately as not interested in helping customer or in getting money

Weak coffee and dry cake not cheap but nice decor and warm on a rainy day. So so 😩

We went for a morning coffee and were impressed by the freshness of the food on display. We decided to go back for tea and cake in the afternoon. The Toffee, Caramel cake was irresistible. The sponge was light , cream fresh and topping lovely. Returned the next morning for breakfast and we weren’t disappointed. All the staff were friendly and made us welcome.

I had coffee in the morning around 10am and ordered soup and sandwich after an hour 11am. I was kicked out of the restaurant around 12.30 by the owner saying that i couldn’t stay for over 2 hours. I was reasoning that i ordered something else for lunch. and he said it’s still unreasonable. and even if i get out and buy something else to be able to stay he would NOT serve me. just because I was reading a book. i mean, what else would i do? i’m traveling solo. i was explaining that i was ordering different things throughout the day. the restaurant is not even 1/4 occupied

Oh where do I start? Firstly the cafe is beautiful, secondly staff -amazing and very helpful always smiling. Food? Well i never could decide what to eat , there was so many options either for breakfast , lunch or cakes ! All sandwiches , paninis, toasties etc served with delicious slaw, side salad and crisps. Soups are always delicious. Coffee is excellent and staff always does their best to make sure customer is feeling taken care of. If you dont know what Coffee you want they go out their way to help you with choice ( ask what you normally drink etc) . Place is very clean and welcoming , love going there for a quick Coffee or lunch . Deffo will be back soon !!!!

I had the soup and half sandwich, they was both were so full of salt I had to eat a crisp to take the salt taste away. It was so eye wateringly bad it was almost inedible. And when I mentioned it to the person who took the plate away she just looked startled and walked of with a plate full of food. The photo shows how much they went away with. And to be honest the coffee wasn't the best either, but I finished that, because I was so thirsty. Should've gone to Starbucks.

Having been there in the past and receiving well done (very hard) poached eggs in my order, i have decided to ask the lady behind the counter if i could have the eggs jammy if not runny with my eggs benedict order. The reply was " we will try". When order arrived, they were well done again. So i guess they are not cooking to order. I am assuming that the eggs were already cooked and kept in warm water until someone orders, which will prolong the cooking process. Unfortunately, from customer point of view this is very bad although technically they didnt do anything wrong. But as a paying customer, it was not what i wanted hence i feel a bit cheated. Because of this, i will probably go to one of the other 3 places serving breakfast which are within a 1 minute walking distance and give a miss yo Coffee Affair.

I never thought I would have received this worse customer service here since I was a regular and had given them 5 start review before, but will never go there anymore. Several visits, I went there and received ok or good service by young staff, they were polite. I was fine, I never been fussy. I like their brown bread, especially when it comes with their delicious soup. Today I went there, soup was not ready as it was early, But the way the older lady spoke to me was uninviting and expression was rude. I was fine if no soup at that time. The lady told me to look at the menu and order something else with the aggressive gesture. I asked her can I have egg benedict with brown bread, she said No, only on the menu. Just literally No. And point to the menu and said, read the menu again we don't do brown bread. Acted I like I asked her to kill an animal to make me food. Since they could gave me brown bread with the soup I was wondering why they couldn't just replace brown bread on my egg benedict dish. So I made sure with another staff when she came to serve on my table (older lady also) I asked her nicely it is ok to have brown bread she said no. So that's it. I was eating my dish anyway. A minute later the 1st lady came to me and ask why was I harassing her staff? I said it was just a question, nothing else. This lady was so aggressive to me, until my husband had to tell her I was not rude but she was being rude to me and he told her to leave our table. She told him to stop talking as she is not talking to him, or she will call the police. He said fine, can call the police since we did not do anything wrong here. Believe it or not, a few minutes later, the owner came to say the same things to my husband, my husband asked him politely to sit down and discuss. He refused, he did not listen what happened from us, he already believed that we were rude and aggressive, and it was the opposite, his staff was rude from the start since order process. He did not event investigate and look at cctv. He asked my husband to leave, really? Yes. So we left. We did not finish our drinks and I did not finish my food. To be hoest, the owner should address this problem since it did not happen to only me, with others as well if you read the previous reviews, complaint about the same person and same service. The owner will just reply "we are not rude, the staff were not rude, we are the best" and he will never realised the fact that the older lady is lacking of customer service + her rudeness was over the top. I know you don't care about my review no matter how true it is, because you focus on the tourists who come and go, not locals like us. But I wanted to write my review anyway.

Good Food, very unfriendly male waiter. Answer to answer from the coffeeshop: we didn't have only that. We had: - eggs benedict with salmon - almond croissont - apricot patisserie - double esspresso - americano - 4 breakfast teas And we were in the process of ordering lunch when your waiter told us: you have to go! Your waiter also tried to clean our drinks while we were still drinking from them. The rest of the people where really nice though.

Had eggs Benedict this morning.The chef obviously cares about the food and his job.The bacon was perfect,the eggs were perfect the sauce and muffins were perfect.When I said compliments to the chef,the young girl looked surprised 😂.The girls serving we're all very young,but very polite and friendly.Well done kids.Will definitely be back,loved it 10/10 guys

Never have I experienced in a cafe such disgraceful service as I did today. This wasn't from a young member of staff having a bad day this was the owner of the cafe! No wonder the responses to other bad reviews are so hostile. After ordering soups and cold drinks for lunch having a catch up with a friend, I had felt uneasy that the plates and bowls were cleared from the table when we still had drinks but presumed perhaps they like to be efficient when customers finish their meals, a few moments later they were back to clear my friends glass as she had finished her drink, I was still finishing mine. We had intended to get coffee and cakes but before we could do so the owner of the cafe came and told us rather abruptly we should leave as others were wanting the table, we mentioned our intention to get coffees but by that time we didn't want to stay in such an unwelcoming place. Sadly, this was not the worst of it. Upon leaving, I asked for the man's name, which he refussed to give me and when asked why I wanted it, told me to ''put your review on trip adviser, you were clearly finished and being selfish''. No apology was made for making us feel unwelcome or for how the situation had been approached, just told ''you we're clearly finished'', multiple times, tried explaining we weren't, but we're cut off mid sentence each time telling us we were and him walking away from us. Having been told by this 'gentleman' he was the manager, I asked one of the staff members how I contact the owner to make a complaint, I was then told he is actually the owner and not the manager (as he told me) and to direct any complaints to the website, before again he came over shouting "you had finished". Needless to say, that would be a waste of time as would be dealt with by same individual. I fully accept during busy times, they may wish for customers to vacate their tables once they were finished, however we were not finished. But what made this whole situation worse, was the complete lack of customer service or apology that the incident should have been handled differently. I have never been spoken to, by anyone in the service industry, like this ever, an absolute disgrace!! If you haven't already, I suggest you read all management responses to previous reviews, how can so many people say the same thing and all be wrong? Perhaps maybe it's the lack of customer service which is the issue

Went here for lunch when visiting Inverness for the day. We had sandwiches and cakes which were excellent. Very pleasant staff. Loved it.

Very dissatisfied at the fact my friend was charged a ridiculous amount for a mug of hot water. We often visit here in large groups, several times a week. But after this weeks disappointment we definitely won't be back!

Efficient and friendly staff, gorgeous food and a good buzz about the place. We had soup and half a sandwich each, which was really tasty and satisfying. Staff looked like they enjoyed their jobs and there was a nice camaraderie between them.

Everything about Coffee Affair is excellent, except the price. Not the price for a coffee The price they charge for a cup of boiling water. £1.99 for a cup of boiling water. My friends who went to Coffee Affair that day will not be going back only due to this.

The best coffee in Inverness. ! . We have been here many times and it is always great.

We had breakfast here one early morning before a tour and we were very pleased. Service was quick, cute and casual atmosphere, food and coffee excellent. I gave only 4 stars because there are no gluten-free options on the menu. I ended up ordering eggs benedict without the hollandaise and without the English muffin- it was more "gluten-friendly" as they prepare all the food on the same surface. The eggs and bacon and salad that came with it were very good and my husband said his smoked salmon croissant and eggs benedict were top-notch.

The food is really good, but the coffee could be better. Although the food is really good, the price is a lot higher than it should be. We payed as much as if we had gone to a restaurant. The fact that we only had small coffees is not true and to be honest I don't understand why they should say that because the food was the only thing that I would really recommend. After having a look at the owner's others replies, I have to admit that it seems to be a common trope to deffimate the customers that give rather bad reviews. Since the replies are riddled with spelling mistakes and quite frankly very polemic, I guess that they are written by a bot. I would advise Coffee Affair to rethink its reply strategy.
