Need a mortgage to shop here, outrageous £4.50 for a hot steak pie and nothing special about it. Definitely won't be back.

I’d ordered a birthday cake online and couldn’t vision what the end result would look like as there was no photos to show what the extras looked like. So i went to the local Harry Gow Baker and asked for some advice on the celebration cakes the ladies there explained what the end result would look like which the website couldn’t do. I picked up the cake today and it looks fabulous.

The ladies behind the counter were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Great service. Lovely bacon rolls. We'll be back!

An excellent bakery that was so friendly one of the ladies even said she hopes I make my bus, which was very thoughtful of them! And that’s with me speaking to them in my very obviously English accent The ham and cheese panini was one of the nicest I’ve had in years, plenty of melted cheese in large bread, even accommodated for my request to have both cheddar and mozzarella instead of make me choose one. I also had a breakfast roll and that was very nice too. I can certainly see why they won an award for top Scottish bakers in 2019-2020! Unfortunately I cannot be a regular customer since I currently live in Oxfordshire, England. But I know I would 100% return to any of their branches like Inverness and Elgin as well as Alness and any others they may have, certainly a far better alternative to the god awful Greggs that dominates my English homeland nationwide!

Usually Excellent product range but (a) Disappointing to find the Cafe isn't open and doesn't look as if is going to and (b) couldn't buy a White Sliced Pan loaf before 11.30am this morning, all sold out. I understand All about Food waste etc, but maybe need to review how many times you didn't have a load available today and how much ££££'s were lost 😪

Good food at a decent price. What else do you need. Sausage rolls are nice too. Especially cold.

Used this shop daily for a takeout lunch when fishing all day. The pie was fast and peppery just how I like it and the filled rolls are really good. Generous fillings on a white roll that is hard to beat flavourwise. Took a dozen rolls home too!

Definitely the top Bakery Chain. Great range of food, competitively priced. If you choose to sit in, a nice eating area. Friendly service and importantly good food. We have recently been to the Tain and Invergordon restaurants and Alness lives up to the standard of the other two outlets. Recommended

Popped in for morning coffee. Delightful clean airy shop, the friendly staff very neat in their uniforms. Only problem for some might be the steps up to the tables. Easy to order at the till, our order came quickly, very neatly delivered to the table. My scone was lovely. Toilet clean and fresh.

My family and I are regular customers to Harry Gow's across different shops. We visited Alness last week and decided to sit in. Dad had pie and beans and I had the cheese and onion toastie with Salad. The only thing I would change is give the option for Brown bread (Which I asked for) but was told there was only white and give a bigger plate as the food was crushed onto the plate.

I ran the Inverness number to order rolls for a lunch at work with friends. The order came through to Alness and I picked them up as agreed. They were freshly made, fillings were delicious a mixture of vegetarian filing too. Inexpensive and very handy if you want to go on a picnic, a business lunch or an outing! This is my second order and I’ll certainly go back again.

As a family, we use this establishment on an almost daily basis, and have done for many years. Not sure why I’ve not reviewed it before. Staff are friendly and welcoming with ready smiles to serve you. They’re quick, efficient, patient and helpful (well apart from one who seems to get things wrong regularly). Most people are familiar with the quality of Harry Gow products so it’s not necessary to review them, suffice to say they are all delicious. The cafe area is very small and narrow, with 2/3 steps leading into the area. This means buggies and walking aids cannot be taken in as there simply is not the room to have them by your table (one of which wobbles badly). There is a small area in the shop where you can leave these items but I personally would not leave my sleeping child in the main shop where customers are milling around - it can be very busy at lunchtimes. The reason I’ve deducted a star rating is purely because they’ve changed the cafe ordering system from complete table service to one where you go to counter to order and pay for food which is then delivered to your table. There are problems with this. You need to go to a table to read menu and park your bags and / or children (bearing in mind said children are not in buggy but running loose - there’s only 2 high chairs which are not suitable for all ages. When you’ve done this a trip to the till means standing at the top of previously mentioned steps, sometimes in a queue for a while, which is not easy when you’re either physically unable to stand for long or have to keep moving to chastise children. If there is a queue at the till then you are standing right in front of the entrance to the kitchen where staff are coming in and out. When standing at top of the stairs, whether there is a queue or not, you are then in the way of the staff trying to get past you with trays of hot drinks. It’s not a good system, and it seems as if you’re always in someone’s way. The toilet is always clean and smells lovely but only being one for all patrons is maybe not the best idea. Baby change table always has a book lying on it! Children and nappies and toilets can take some time hence a queue forming. Meant to be a disabled toilet too but even if you could get a wheelchair into the shop, (through the fire exit maybe) it’s doubtful you’d actually manage to get it into the narrow corridor and the toilet itself while still trying to manipulate 2 heavy doors.

They don't do milk alternatives. Lucky I rang before going. Bad customer service. Did they say "when are you coming through, we'll make sure we have some". Just "No, we don't do it" There's a Co-op across the street. They lost 6 customers.

Popular bakers/ cafe also selling take away sandwiches, hot pies, soup and coffee etc. Cafe is on the small side. I think their goods and cafe are on the expensive side, a cappucino is £2.75 but cafe across the street is £2.20 and also comes with a chocolate!

Dream Rings are really nice and the rolls are the best in town. Friendly staff and always quite busy. Though on one occasion I asked for a bacon roll and only got one slice of bacon in it so a star is knocked off there. I was not impressed that time but have been in a few times since and food been good.

Years ago this was a thriving pub with a great variety of huge meals and a real buzzing place. Today the upstairs former restaurant and bar are not used. The basement bar is now the only bit open and the menu is limited to a few light bites. Such a shame...

the rooms are clean, but the price list for the restaurant is cheaper in the room, if you want to sit directly in the restaurant, the food is more expensive. The cheaper price list only applies to takeaway. If you are a hotel guest, you are disappointed.

Visited on a Thursday night and it was quite busy with a lovely ambience. Service was decent. Food was mediocre and pricey for what it was. My wife’s cod fillet was tasty but overdone. I had the beef burger with “triple cooked chips”. Burger was poor - overcooked, dried out a full off gristle. Chips were okay but nothing to write home about. Maybe we just got the place on an off night. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt as I’m sure they can do better
