Best pub in grantown definitely recommend

Good beer, good prices, friendly staff and locals. What's not to like?

Just popped in for a couple of beers. Friendly staff but hardly anyone in.

Nice selection of whiskey. We came late in the evening in the town and this was the only place still open. Great service!

Nice sort and nice beer, trevs dad, they used to call him claymore because he would fire anyone and everyone if asked. Lg had the non-alcoholic beer, and he can recommend it, though he cannot remember it's name

We got 3bad pints of tents Al were flat had to take them back then the delay in the service was terrible we ended up leaving as the staff was terrible can't believe they can't take more care in serving a decent pint when you are paying nearly £5 a pint you would expect it to be drinkable won't be visiting there again

Typical sports bar, but there was music and no original sound for the Champions League semi-final

I would say it's a traditional men's bar, good selection of beers, gin and whisky. A bit dingy but appreciate it for what it is.

We arrive at approx. 1730. The pup was busy. The lady behind the bar was very welcoming and accomodating. We thoughly enjoyed our 3 pints. I would recommend.

Lovely deep bar. The service was great and the beers well served. They don’t have food but let you bring in a take away fish and chips if you ask politely.

Stayed in town for a couple of days and was welcomed like a local at the bar. The drinks were great, but the people really make the place shine. You're doing a disservice to yourself if you don't check this place out when you're around Grantown.

Ehrliches Pub mit guter Auswahl, nettem Personal und fairen Preisen. Hier wird kein Wert auf Schein gelegt, hier treffen sich die Einheimische, hier darf man von außerhalb fish&chips mitbringen. Keinen kümmert, wie du aussiehst, wo du herkommst oder was du anhast, ob der Tisch klebrig ist oder der Fußboden. Schick ist anders, aber so ist es gut!

Nice place to get out of the rain. I wouldn't say there was a great deal of atmosphere in this pub, but I felt that I was interrupting the member of staff from reading a book to get a drink. Yes, it was a nice clean pub, don't think I would rush back here

When you walk in, you are greeted a roaring fire, the staff are nice and friendly as are the locals. The prices are reasonable. The rear of the bar is spoilt it could be so much more. The toilets are terrible. Worth a visit. I'm not sure what it would be like on a full moon.

Gezellige locals bar. Leuke zitjes bij de open haard en een pooltafel. Leuk en gezellig barpersoneel (marie) blijft jammer om te zien dat het jongere barpersoneel alleen maar op de telefoon zit

Friendly bar man / owner allowed us to bring in our takeaway whilst watch a football match. Also provided us with cutlery which was very kind. A great selection of drinks, plenty of tv’s to watch sports, pool table and good facilities. Overall a nice pub with welcoming staff and locals.

The barman is a credit to his trade. Although the bar doesn't do meals, we were welcomed to grab some takeaway and eat it there. Great atmosphere drinking with the locals. Loved the whisky. Cheers.

Friendly staff and reasonable price fir beer

We stopped into the Claymore when we had some time to kill before a dinner reservation down the street. It seemed a local team had just arrived before us; the atmosphere was jovial and there seemed to be a mix of local folks and visitors. We had drinks, no food, but enjoyed it quite a bit and would return if we were in the area. The service was welcoming.

Gezellige pub. Ze hebben hier Belgisch bier, Stella Artois. Maar het lokale bier was even lekker.

Good and well kept beer, served with friendly service. Nice traditional pub and the local clientele were friendly and welcoming too. Lower level to rear of bar has pool table and darts but also a good seating area. There's a small secluded beer garden to the rear of the pub, when the weather behaves. All in all a very pleasant place for a few beers, on your own or with friends.

Yvonne and her whole family were friendly and all the locals and their dogs were fantastic. Bring treats for the dogs and they’ll be your best friend! Share a pint and say hello and watch some football or snooker! We will definitely come back to visit!

What you might call an old man's pub. Deceptively spacious on the inside compared to the view from the street. Barman was friendly, the prices were reasonable and the ambience was pleasant. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but me and my wife liked it.

Visited for an afternoon, great atmosphere, Yvonne was a great barmaid, made us most welcome. Spent a relaxing afternoon with a few drinks and a couple games of pool. Would definitely visit again anytime we are back in granton on spey

Absolutely fantastic time, we stayed for a Christmas break in be local hotel and went to the local pub every day and was made feel welcome from walking in. We are 61 year old and every one made us feel welcome from walking in the staff, locals and even the 20 year olds. Would hi go highly recommend a visit, they made our holiday. Even the German shepherd. Well worth a visit.

A warm welcome from bar staff and roaring open fire, whiskey served in lovely glass. Visited begining of December with 3 friends, very enjoyable hour or so.

The earlier review of the grunt is only true. A Saturday night a few weeks back and this place was full of locals, the language comprised only of what would be in a dictionary of slang, along with every word of profanity that was ever said from Glasgow to Guantanamo, some of those words I will not forget, some I had never knew existed. I can only imagine this is a bar for select locals and run by such, the beer was poor too and the service, lets call it service with a grunt. Went in there once, one of those in our trio was mortified, never again. Visitors to the fine town of Grantown on Spey, I urge you to avoid!

What a lovely welcome. We called in for a quick couple of drinks. No food but we were invited to eat our own food un the pub. The landlady's daughter was very friendly and chatty, as were the locals who were drinking. It us great to be made welcome when you are new to a place. Thanks

Nice wee pub, the lassie behind the bar was very nice. She gave me a wee bowl of soup and gave the dog a couple of treats as well (extra points for a good pint of Guinness)

Avoid, unless you enjoy the company of very unpleasant, noisy and antisocial people. One for locals only, it would seem.

An excellent Bar, friendly and helpful bar staff, also has a games room part with large TVs ideal for watching sports, and small beer garden at the back.

We visited the Claymore when the heavens opened and we thought we should shelter.. Who needs excuses. The bar staff were very warm, welcoming and friendly and we enjoyed our deinks with several local worthies who told us all about the walks along the River Spey which we did the following day when it was drier.

After walking 8 miles we were in need of a good pint!!! We the only thing i can say was it was dog friendly! Beer was not good which we were surprised as Scotland brew wonderful beer. And we had a grunt not a warm welcome, lacked atmosphere i think only to us. so we drank up quickly and walked back home.

Enjoyed a few drinks in this pub several times, a mixture of locals who were very friendly with us as were all the bar staff. The pub adheres to all the current COVID-19 requirements.

Great wee pub, very warm on a cold day when I visited, friendly staff and good selection of beer's, serve good coffee well worth a visit if in the area.

Had a decent time there as is one of the only “pubs“ in grantown (although other clubs and hotel bars are good) Then spent £6.40 on a double spirit and mixer. I had no option but to return the drink to the bar as the mixer turned the drink into a tepid, flat liquid, certainly not worthy of the money I had spent on it . The bar staff agreed, but had to turn to the manageress for concent to replace it.... here’s the 2 star. Panic is not the word! Another was pored, but straight into the same flat mixer i had been asked to try and said was flat. When I asked to pay the difference for another spirit with a different mixer ... I was told no, you’ll have to buy that drink (awful as it was at £6.40) plus another £7+ for a new one.... not professional or even logical ... just panic over losing 50ml of cheap spirit. Then I was called at the bar to another customer “there’s always one”? Rude and far from professional . Having worked in bars for years myself and just being a normal customer .. not great .

Very friendly local pub where you'll be made welcome by both staff and regulars. Fantastic open fire to warm you up with your drink. Nothing fancy but it's original and where the locals go. Good prices.

Today 30th October really cold outside, inside roaring fire. Very freindly, like walking into the past. Historic pub. Visit.
