Great little hotel with a bar and restaurant.

Fantastic place to stay in Portree! Our room was in good condition, and being on the top floor gave us stunning views of the ocean. The on-site restaurant was incredibly convenient, offering great options for both breakfast and dinner. We also enjoyed the cozy bar, where we had the chance to meet some great people. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Terrible. I ate in the restaurant but need to let anyone thinking of coming here that personally I was picked on by the staff, and hurried out of the place almost quicker than I knew it. The meal itself was inexpensive but average. In the bar later (because other pubs were packed), it was rough. I can and should say no more. Portree is a busy place, but if you're having food or drink there, make this your last resort.

Would give 10 stars if I could - our tour agency messed up on booking only 1 room, and this hotel was very accommodating on getting us at a neighboring place- they go above and beyond, much appreciated!

I traveled up to portree for my sister's wedding what should of been a weekend turned into a full week due to vehicle problems that left me stranded in skye. We were supposed to have the wedding meal and after party at another venue in portree but they canceled the day before. Last minute we called the tongadale and the squeezed us in and were incredibly accommodating to all our needs. The food in the tongadale was magnificent full praise to the talented chefs in the back. We all had very different things and each one of us really enjoyed our meals with no complaints at all! The waiting staff, service and attention to detail was amazing! I did not stay in a room here but from other people I ment who did they had no complaints and from what I saw first had if there was a problem the staff were very considerate and did everything in their power to help and make each stay unforgettable. As well as the great food the bar was perfect. They have a great selection of drinks to suit everyone and anyone with a large selection of local ales and shorts to try as well, with the prices being very reasonable too. I have always enjoyed a good pub but the tongadale is the best I have ever been too hands down! I have never felt so welcome and accepted as I did here, I ended up in the tongadale every night till close spending time with locals and other travelers. By the end of my time here I felt like a local despite being hundreds of miles from home.the atmosphere is unmatched. The last but by all means not the least thing I have to mention is the bar staff. They were all absolutely phenomenal and all had so much character and knowledge! I would like to mention a few members who made my journey so special... Rachel, Billy and Iona. These 3 were the salt of the earth and some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet in my life! Thank you for creating memories I will cherish forever! I will 100% be coming back to Skye to visit the tongadale in particular! It's with such a heavy heart I had to leave but the experience I have had here will stay with me forever! The tongadale has been a staple of my time on the isle of Skye. To all the staff who make this pub so special I cannot thank you all enough! You will be missed dearly! I already can't wait Until the next time!

The experience of a very favorable night. In addition to sleeping we also had dinner and breakfast, the food is very delicious and abundant. The room is a little small, but very clean. Positive experience.

We went there for dinner, if you miss the "canteen" atmosphere with dishes, certainly copious but without flavor, you are at the right address!!

About the hotel : My worst accommodation in Scotland so far. The room was old and cramped (no change since the 80's it seems...) and very noisy : we were just above the kitchen and can hear all the noise associated with this localisation, from 6am to 11pm ! The hotel is in the middle of Portree and has no car park, when you have a car it is not very easy to park (and it is expensive) The staff were nice, it is the only positive thing.

Great pub which has live music on the Friday when we was there.

Sorry but young female and male working on the evening of 6th August on the bar where rude and unhelpful. Pint was flat and off. ( bad stomach next day also )Refused to acknowledge and thought it was amusing. Will not return, there are better places

Excellent central location. There is no lift or porter service. Small rooms, only coat hangers, very small bathroom.

You pay for location, that's all. Rooms are clean and neat, breakfast okay for 1-2 n stay. Rest is location cost customers pay for. People are nice and kind and they do the best they can given what it is. Overall not a bad stay.

This is a decent hotel in an amazing location. The staff is helpful and courteous. The free breakfast is a great way to start the day. We ate here during peak season for dinner and I would definitely advise you make reservations as there is a long wait.

The Tongadale is a hotel with a restaurant and pub. The hotel itself has 2 stars (whatever that means...) and the charm of a youth hostel from the 70s. So IMHO absolutely not recommended. The restaurant makes a similar visual impression, but the food is very tasty and the staff is friendly and prompt. The pub also seems to be clearly showing its age, but it is really worth a visit and the prices are very reasonable (especially whiskey is significantly cheaper than elsewhere in Portree). Conclusion: Clear recommendation for pub and restaurant, but not for the hotel.

Very old and expensive. The rooms are very old. It is not worth the money.

The hotel leaves a lot to be desired. The room for 2 was a cubicle. The cistern was not working well. The bathroom sink was a toy. The heating didn't work. And to enter the rooms you had to go through the pub, and then through the dining room. The narrow stairs. Not recommended. The only good thing is the location. I will not come back.

Went here for dinner. Food was good, decent pub grub. Nice bar with good beers. Bit of a disconnect with service between the bar and restaurant as we were with dogs so ate in the bar. Could do without hearing staff arguing and bickering, keep that out of the public ear please.

Amazing hotel and people. My tour company messed up our reservation and they made things right. Wonderful food at the restaurant too. I will definitely stay here again!!

We stayed 2 nights and the truth is that the location in the center of the island of Skye allows you to get around very well (as long as you have a vehicle of course). The rooms are more than reasonable for the price they have (compared to the rest in the area) and the restaurant for both breakfast (they prepare a very very delicious Scottish breakfast) and for dinner (a lot of local options at a very tight price ) is a great option if you want to make the most of the day since it closes at 9 p.m. in summer. In short, a great option to enjoy a few days on the island.

We just used the restaurant and pub area, and both are reasonably good. Food is very good quality with wide menu choices and there are plenty of it on the table. The restaurant does not have huge queues outside, which is helpful.

The rooms were mediocre, beds not comfortable, and very pricey for what you get. Our room was booked by our tour company also. It was very loud and disruptive with drunk patrons from the bar downstairs. I would not recommend this hotel unless your looking to party with teenagers.

Two nights unfortunately booked by the tour operator as I was late to look for accommodation myself. Expensive for what you get. Room right above the pub with all the noise. Noisy corridor outside the room, noise from the room above when guests walked in their room, noisy toilet fan,very basic bathroom,view over a suffocated space with kitchen fans and a black paint. Jesus. Breakfast well below standard for a place in the middle of the nature, where I was expecting surely higher quality. Bed was comfortable enough. I’d recommend not staying there.

Our stay here was unfortunately booked by our tour bus company. Our room was very loud as it was above the crowded bar and restaurant. The TV didn't work, the beds were hard and there was a rather large spider on one of the beds to welcome us. The location is central Portree but I would advise staying elsewhere when in Portree. The room felt stuffy and dirty.

Le B&B est bien situé dans le centre de Portree, la chambre propre et c’est super de pouvoir manger et boire un verre sur place (super choix de bières) mais j’ai été déçue du petit déjeuner. Les œufs brouillés semblaient provenir d’œufs en poudre, il y avait peu de choix et la présentation n’y était pas du tout.. c’est dommage pour le prix. Sinon, le personnel était aimable et les repas plutôt bons.

The food is awful! I ordered salmon and it was cold, extremely fishy, possibly going bad. The only positive is that the COOP is right around the corner so after paying 50 pounds for a meal too gross to eat, I was able to pick up dinner at the COOP. Worse meal we have had in Scotland by far!

Best bar and restaurant in Portree. I always recommend the Guinness, you can have it ice cold or the normal temperature.

We didn't stay here but I would We came here to have dinner while in Portree after being let down at a different establishment in the towns menu. The menu was very diverse and loads of great choices. The girls who looked after us were brilliant having a chat and even helped us pick out a breakfast spot for the next day which we were thankful for. The food was great and plentiful and we will definitely be returning when on skye

Tongadale resturaunt is a very good choice in Portree. They really didn't want to take reservations, but with a wheelchair person, I had to have a booking. They agreed, and mad it easy for us to navigate. Great Steak Pie. Good food abd excellent service

We ate here two nights in a row during our stay in Portree. This is not a fancy place but the food is good and hearty and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The bar and restaurant seem to attract as many locals as tourists. We were impressed by the extended families having dinners together and the boisterous celebrations in the bar. You can probably find more elegant places but unlikely that you can find another place with a more welcoming atmosphere.

A small hotel located in the center of Portree reasonably priced and comfortable rooms. Complimentary breakfast options are very good. Also serves dinner with local and chef special dishes. On site pub is a “local” with great knowledgeable staff and good opportunity to interact with locals. Off site paid parking is close by and reasonable. Great base to do day trips

There are few places in Portree that you can get a table without a reservation. We got here in time 5:30, then the sign went up " restaurant full" so they don't apparently serve very late I had the salmon hoping for something special..it was not. Sort of"fishy". With a fish it's always a bit of a gamble. The skink soup was really good as well as my husband's prawn/ salmon pasta.

You can’t book here but you have to wait for a table if busy so turn up early. ITS WELL WORTH IT. Excellent food. excellent service and well priced. Definitely recommend this one.

Cenar en Portree puede ser un suplicio en temporada alta. Este local te hace un hueco si te hospedas en el hotel. Se sale del clásico menú pasta-pizza-hamburguesas-haggis escoces, con variantes como “hamburguesas de Venado y Javalí” o una pierna de cordero muy bien ejecutada. Aunque aquí los animalitos están gordos gordos y parece que no tiene mérito cocinarlos bien.

Food was delicious and served by friendly staff. The fresh mussels were absolutely delicious. Fish and chips were also good. Breakfast was included with our hotel stay. It was great.

did not lodge here while in Portree but rather had a drink at the bar and dinner in the restaurant. I highly recommend the establishment. The staff is very hospitable and professional, and the food is mmm mmm good. Had the grilled goat cheese starter and side order of vegetables--carrots, broccoli, and green beans-- while my brother had the goat cheese and a bowl of cullen skink. All on the service of not being full on order to maximize the enjoyment of dessert: fudge cake with chocolate ice cream and sticky toffee pudding! Each dessert was a winner.

Je peux faire mieux avec mon camping gaz et un paquet de pâtes. Pire burger de ma vie. Ma copine un poulet cramé, sauce en supplément sans aucun goût. Bouffe de cantine en moins bien.

Nous sommes allés dans ce restaurant car il est bien difficile de trouver une table à Portree. Beaucoup de restaurants ne prennent pas de réservations… L’intérieur est vieillot, la décoration minimaliste. Au premier abord les assiettes ont l’air bien servies mais en réalité les plats sont insipides. Nous avons pris un burger de poulet , sans aucun assainissement et donc sans goût … j’ai pris des pâtes aux crevettes et saumon. Une plâtrée de pâtes baignant dans la crème et l’huile dans laquelle j’ai désespérément cherché le saumon et trouvé quelques minuscules crevettes (visiblement congelées) m’a été servi. Le plat m’est tellement resté sur l’estomac que je ne l’ai pas fini et que j’en ai vomi la nuit. Nous déconseillons vivement cette adresse ….

Having passed by this hotel many times on visits and never given it a thought, I went in last night with my son and his friend. The menu had a good variety, and certainly I felt that it had more options than other pubs, and apparently there's a few more to get added. Don't be fooled by the front, it may seem fairly small but the restaurant is at the back in a spacious room and the attention to covid safety was spot on. My son had the venison chilli and devoured it, something a wee bit different - Mexican with a scottish twist. I had the burger, which was gorgeous, and our pal had the chicken strips which had a lovely crispy coating. All good size platefuls and served by lovely friendly chatty staff. Will definitely make this the first choice for a pub meal when back in Portree.Thanks guys

We found this little pub with rooms on trip advisor.We arrived with full restrictions in place for Covid 19. We had already stayed in another two hotels in scotland who were very well organised.Going off the reviews we felt that although a smaller establishment The Tongadale sound ded like our kind of place.Upon arrival it was OK. The room was tiny, the compact shower room looked like it had been recently redone. The view was grim. Of the detractors and flat roof...however we didn't plan to be in the room much.The breakfast on the first day was... different! two rolls each with choice of breakfast fillings. You had to collect them and eat them in your room. Making tea etc your self.When challenged when booking for day twos breakfast why this set up bearing in mind restaurants were in full flow at night time.We had gone down to the bar on the first night to be told we should have booked a table for drinks due to the restrictions. Drank elsewhere.We had already booked a table for evening meal prior to arrival for the second night. Due to the restrictions we booked a table for drinks prior to this. Imagine our dismay when we went down to have a drink to be told no booking and no spaces...!! The staff were flustered and had no answers or solution to the issue.Needless to say we went else where for drinks and meal. Cancelled breakfast the last morning and went elsewhere.Possibly better on a normal day. Not going to chance it though.

Nuestra comida aquí esta noche fue deliciosa en todos los sentidos. Tuve el Skink Cullen y fue una comida en sí misma una de las más sabrosas que he probado. Mi familia tenía deliciosos entrantes y platos principales y nos quedamos impresionados con las generosas porciones. Sin embargo, lo que hizo que nuestra noche fuera la muy amable, cálida y alegre bienvenida de Laura. Ella tenía el enfoque de servicio al cliente más encantador que jamás haya experimentado y no fue solo con nosotros. Trataba a todos en el restaurante por igual. ¡Qué ventaja es para The Tongadale! Definitivamente recomiendo este restaurante. . . . Especialmente los filetes de pollo y el pollo con salsa cajún. Lástima que no tuviéramos lugar para el postre. ¡Quédate como eres Laura y no cambies nada y gracias por nuestra hermosa velada!

Fue difícil conseguir un lugar para comer en Portree esta noche en particular cuando estaba lloviendo y después de probar algunos otros hoteles, nos dijeron que regresáramos a las 8 al Hotel Tongadale. A nuestro regreso, no nos recibieron de inmediato y nos dejaron bajo la lluvia hasta que finalmente alguien vino a vernos. Nos acompañaron hasta la parte trasera del hotel donde había un restaurante muy soso. La camarera inmediatamente luego nos dijo lo que NO estaba en el menú que parecía la mitad! Cuando nos sentamos, la camarera tardó años en atendernos y parecieron siglos antes de que nos preguntara qué nos gustaría beber. Más tarde, cuando pedí la cuenta, la mesera volvía a tener años para conseguirla y, en este momento, no estaba ocupada ya que estaba hablando con otra mesa durante algún tiempo, lo que provocó que nos descuidaran.No me gustaría volver a este restaurante para comer, aunque el bar parecía acogedor.

Nuestro hotel recomendó este lugar para una cena amigable con los perros, así que reservamos una mesa para cenar. Puedes subir pero es recomendable reservar.Tuvimos una deliciosa comida de 3 platos. Se aconseja tomar una foto del menú ya que está en la pared, pero las ofertas especiales están en otra hoja.Tenía los mejillones para empezar. Tan fresco, sabroso y abundante.El oleaje y el césped estaban bien. Comí muchos filetes y esto era normal. Casi sabía que se había descongelado demasiado rápido. Por suerte tuve un almuerzo tardíoLos churros fueron un final perfecto para la comida.No te puedes quejar del personal. Siempre disponible cuando necesite a alguien y listo para ayudar.

Tuvimos una comida fantástica aquí. El servicio fue el mejor que hemos tenido durante todo nuestro viaje desde Mallaig, Skye, Harris, Lewis y de regreso a Skye. Comimos pastel de carne y macarrones y ambos estuvimos de acuerdo en que fue la mejor comida del viaje. Estábamos llenos pero logramos compartir los churros, muy contento de haberlo hecho. Disfrutamos tanto de nuestra comida y servicio que ya estamos planeando un viaje de regreso a Skye para volver a comer aquí. La limpieza del Covid - 19 era insuperable. Un final perfecto para nuestro viaje.

Nos topamos con este lugar con vientres hambrientos y no nos decepcionó. Un servicio absolutamente maravilloso y una comida muy sabrosa y generosa a un costo modesto, que compensó con creces el aspecto algo aburrido del lugar. El personal fue muy amable y atento, todavía estamos hablando de ello, y esperamos volver en nuestra próxima visita a Skye.

El mejor servicio que hemos tenido en nuestra semana en Escocia. Muy amables y cuando no tenían crema para servir en lugar de helado para el delicioso pudín de caramelo pegajoso, ofrecieron un postre gratis. El interior estaba un poco anticuado, pero el personal lo compensó con creces.

Desde fuera parecía un pub solamente, pero dentro tienen otra sala de restaurante. Todo muy ordenado y limpio, medidas de distanciamiento social muy bien indicadas, el personal fue estupendo y muy amable.La comida era muy buena, muy abundante también. Pasteles increíbles! Grandes opciones de cervezas Skye y whiky. ¡Definitivamente regresaría en cualquier momento!

Service was very quick and easy. The food was very tasty. We had the mussels, and the sauce was incredible.

Had lovely service here from a young Hungarian waitress who was very friendly, chatty and made our evening, Due to Covid there were certain restrictions but the staff coped well. The Cullen Skink we had was excellent and the fish and chips hot and tasty.

The staff were great and took the covid precautions seriously. The place itself is fairly basic, but nice and friendly and sells good local beer. Nice place for a drink.

Hvis det er muligt, så find et andet sted, det var godt nok én langsom betjening de satte i spil derinde, til trods for at der ikke var særlig mange gæster, med undtagelse af én ung tjener, Morag-Anna som samtidig også var venlig.Stedet virkede også kedeligt, broccolien var dårlig og lamb-shank'en havde fået ALT for meget rosmarin.

I visit Portree regularly with my job and I always eat at the Tongadale restaurant. Staff are professional, cheery and efficient. Good choice of dishes on the menu, including vegetarian options. Food is good, portion sizes are generous and prices are fair. Happy to recommend.

Wir wurden super freundlich bedient! Wirklich toll!Das Essen war mega lecker und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sehr gut. Auch wenn man keinen Fisch essen möchte, hat man eine grosse Auswahl an leckeren Gerichten. Auch Vegetarier und Veganer kommen nicht zu kurz!

We were so glad to discover all of the vegan and vegetarian options right here while staying at the hotel. Many restaurants in Portree close early, so we were worried we wouldn't find anything to eat but we found an abundance of options at the Tongadale Restaurant! Vegan haggis was especially exciting to see, they were sold out while we were there but hopefully anyone reading this review will be able to go when it's available. We had the "chicken" nuggets which was close enough to vegetarian fish and chips for me along with a fantastic broccoli soup. Friendly service and right in the center of town.

We started at the small pub in front, this bar was full of locals and the hotel patrons so we were excited to try the restaurant. We made a reservation for 6 pm and had no problem getting in, even though we called at 5:30 on a Thursday. The wait staff is attentive and friendly even when the restaurant filled up around 7 pm. Don’t worry about the small time decor of the restaurant, the FOOD IS AMAZING!! Mussels to start were fresh and tasty and the portion size was more like a main course, enough for three people. We had the chicken breast with the Cajun sauce and it was incredible. Highly recommended.

We found this place tucked away from the hustle and bustle a Friday night. Varied menu with plenty of options for vegetarians & vegans. The ladies here run a tight ship - warm welcome, delicious food served in good time and service with a genuine smile.

Hangelten uns auf Portree von einem fantastischen Restaurantbesuch zum nächsten und nichts schien diese lukullische Glückssträhne zu unterbrechen... bis wir heute ins Tongadale gingen.Während die Kellnerin (durchweg junge, nicht professionell ausgebildete Frauen, die sich hier wohl ein kleines Zubrot verdienen, aber sehr freundlich) uns erst einige Minuten trotz Reservierung auf unseren Tisch warten ließ, wurden wir anschließend in den Speisesaal geführt, welcher dem Anschein nach morgens als Frühstücksraum für die Hotelgäste herhalten muss. Nach einer marginal zu langen Wartezeit konnten wir unsere Getränke und Speisen bestellen, welche dann auch allesamt nach kurzer Zeit den Weg zu unserem Tisch fanden. Zur Vorspeise gab es die Suppe des Tages (Tomate und Paprika) sowie Cullen Skink (eine traditionelle Cremesuppe aus geräuchertem Schellfisch, Kartoffeln und Zwiebeln) und nachdem diese auf ganzer Linie überzeugen konnten, vielleicht mit Ausnahme des - für Großbritannien typisch - chronisch schlechten Gebäcks, freute ich mich schon auf den Hauptgang... zu früh.Wir hatten uns für die Steak and Ale Pie entschieden, welche man auf dieser Seite bereits auf einigen Bildern bewundern kann. Hierbei sollte in besonderem Maße auf die im Regelfall separate Aufteilung von einerseits Pie und Gemüse sowie andererseits den ebenfalls dazu gereichten Pommes geachtet werden. Der Grund hierfür wurde spätestens nach den ersten Bissen offenbart (bzw. war dies eigentlich schon geschehen als die Kartoffeln, welche eine Person statt den Pommes bestellt hatte, komischerweise auf dem Teller mit der Pie statt separat davon aufzufinden waren).Im Gegensatz zu den Pommes entstammten Pie und Gemüse (sowie die eben angesprochenen Kartoffeln) den Tiefen der örtlichen Mikrowelle und schienen weiß Gott wie lange schon vorbereitet auf dem Teller auf ihren Einsatz im Restaurant zu warten.Die kleinen, formvollendeten Blätterteighauben, welche die restliche Pie zuvor wohl noch nie gesehen hatten, ließen mich dann vollends verwirrt zurück, was genau ich hier denn eigentlich aß, denn eine Pie konnte es ob der völlig abweichenden Zubereitungsart schon einmal nicht sein und geschmacklich hätte es mich nicht gewundert, wäre die seltsam vertraut wirkende Fleischmasse der Tiefkühlabteilung des nächsten Supermarkts entsprungen - wie es das blasse, geschmacklose Mikrowellengemüse auf meinem Teller ohnehin schon tat.Unklugerweise aß ich dieses traurige Etwas auf meinem Teller hungrig auf und wurde prompt von meinem Magen dafür bestraft, der mir ein Ende an jenem Ort bescherte, welcher für den Fraß im Tongadale wahrscheinlich die einzig passende Adresse darstellt: Das örtliche WC (welches auch mal wieder geputzt werden könnte).Erleichtert um diese wohl fürchterlichste Mahlzeit auf ganz Skye möchte ich jedem, welcher dennoch die kulinarischen Verirrungen dieses Restaurants einmal selbst kosten will, neben dem Besuch der nächstgelegenen Psychiatrie den Gang in den angrenzenden Supermarkt empfehlen. Das dortige TV-Dinner wird bei günstigerem Preis entweder deutlich besser schmecken oder mindestens gleichwertig sein, denn es ist vermutlich das Gleiche.

Se avete intenzione di visitare l'Isola di Skye durante i mesi estivi vi consiglio di prenotare tutti i ristoranti con anticipo onde evitare di non trovare posto da nessuna parte o di finire al "The Tongadale Hotel Restaurant"! Purtroppo non lo sapevamo e questo e' stato l'unico ristorante dove abbiamo trovato posto all'ultimo momento. Il personale e' gentile ed il servizio buono ma il cibo e' veramente scarso. Non siamo assolutamente difficili ma il ristorante da' proprio l'idea di essere "in una mensa". Da tenere come ultima possibilità'.

What a pleasant surprise! We booked a week in advance for dinner during the height of the season on Skye. The restaurant is very plain looking, but we received the warmest welcome and superlative service from a true hospitality professional. We immediately felt relaxed after a busy day of touring. Glad we'd booked, as parties were being turned away at the door. There were so many options for the three of us (two vegetarians and a vegan) that we had trouble choosing--an unaccustomed sensation! Everything was clearly labeled to make our choices easier. Thank you to the lovely staff at the Tongadale--you beat Dulse & Brose hands down!

Situé dans la rue principale de Portree, ce restaurant a le gros avantage d'accepter qu'on puisse réserver une table à l'avance (ne serait-ce que quelques heures) car, dans la majorité des cas, les réservations ne sont pas acceptées.La cuisine est écossaise traditionnelle. Le personnel est très sympathique.

Siamo stati a cena in questo ristorante per due sere consecutive. Buona la zuppa della casa e il pollo grigliato con patate lesse. Questo piatto è accompagnato anche da insalata che però condiscono con il mix che chiamano Cesar, noi li evitiamo. Metto tre stelle perché la sera che mia moglie ha provato i gamberi ( li portano fritti ) la notte è stata male, gli tornavano su di continuo. Molto gentile lo staff.

Nous sommes tombés par hasard sur ce restaurant et avons eu de la chance de pouvoir trouver une table car tous les autres restaurants étaient complets. Nous avons très bien mangé, presque un peu trop :)

Staying at another hotel in Portree with no vegan options on restaurant menu. Delighted to see the Tongadale Hotel offering vegan starters, mains ,sides and desserts. Lovely food and so nice to see everything labelled as vegan and not having to ask

Vi åt dagens specialitet som var hjort. Tyvärr segt kött, smaklös sås och överkokta grönsaker. En besvikelse!

Beställde stek med kokta grönsaker, nypotatis med vin- och röd vinbärssås. Segt kött, överkokta grönsaker och smaklös sås. Ölen och vinet var ok.

Weren´t really expecting much as we just dropped by. But the food was excellent, service was great and all in all a very good dinner. Highly recommend this place.

Stopped in looking for alternative to Dulce. Good menu and great food. Steak and ale pie was delicious. Recommended.

We ate breakfast at this location twice and dinner once. The breakfast included a buffet and a full service menu, both included in the price of the stay at the hotel. The breakfast was filling and tasty. Our dinner was also delicious but the true standout was the lemonade cake. We ordered one piece to share and wished we had ordered two!

Portree is a busy hub on Isle of Skye, but Saturday night, with no booking made, you’re in trouble! Fortunately for us, Tongadale Hotel Restaurant could feed us. It was warm & cosy. Staff welcoming & helpful. Meals generous & we all enjoyed. Good basic pub fair. No room for dessert though!

We came in here by chance and because it was raining. There was a very warm welcome from the staff and the food was just what we wanted.

Je zit idd niet op sjiek, maar eten is niets op aan te merken. Verwacht svp geen culinaire hoogstandjes, maar aardig en heel lekker.

We found the staff friendly and the atmosphere ok although they were playing some questionable music. The food in general was pretty average but the fish and chips was unfortunately very poor. The plate just looked so sad and dated, with dry, ruskoline covered fish (not seen that in a restaurant for decades), chips that were not homemade, and standard peas with the only tartare sauce available being the sachets of Heinz. The fish wasn’t particularly cheap at £12.95 and considering we are right beside the harbour, we were expecting much better. It was a shame as aside from the fish it is an alright plaice...

Service was friendly and the food was good. Atmosphere was a little plain but there is a quaint bar at the front (I didn't try it). I recommend the haggis and blood sausage stack which tastes a whole lot better than it sounds.

Quando ormai eravamo orientati a saltare la cena visto che è impossibile trovare un tavolo per mangiare a Portree, abbiamo trovato un posto qui e, nonostante il locale del ristorante non sia un granché, abbiamo mangiato molto bene. Viaggiamo con il nostro bambino di 9 mesi, hanno il seggiolone e posto per cambiarlo in bagno.

Went for a late dinner and got seated right away. Great food and dessert. Great service too. Would come back.

We were wondering around Portree today and checked the menu and dropped in for our evening meal. The service and staff was superb, our meal was one of best we have had. Praise were praise is due ,hopefully we can stop in again on our return to the island from the outer Hebrides.

Not sure what the other reviews were about, but we loved it so much we went back the next night. We didn't even try somewhere else. Immaculately clean. Varied menu. Good food. Decent prices for a resort town. Best of all- the staff.. They were very attentive to our needs and had no problem with dietary needs.

Vimos este pub al pasara por la calle y entramos a probar unas cervezas de la zona, dan comidas también los platos típicos de pub escoces. Probamos la cerveza Skye Ale tanto la Dorada, la Negra y la Roja. De buena calidad no muy alto grado de alcohol y sabor agradable mas tostado desde la Dorado, Roja y Negra, pero no llegando a ser excesivo. El pub con muchos locales disfrutando de unas cervezas y copas, animado y con música Flock escocesa agradable para tomar algo.

Driest mashed potatoes I’ve ever eaten. Chips were somehow over and under cooked, would of had a better meal from a microwave. Spent 20 minutes laughing through out the meal because that’s the only way to describe it, F**K**G LAUGHABLE.

Mi madre y yo cenamos aquí la primera noche de las 2 que íbamos a alojarnos en Portree, un poco a ciegas y empujados por el hambre y el cansancio. La comida estaba buena, el lugar no estaba mal, un pelín caro pero tampoco para escandalizarse. La segunda noche decidimos repetir, un poco por el buen sabor de boca de la noche anterior y porque nos pasó lo mismo... muchos establecimientos cerrados.

Das Restaurant war fast leer, aber dennoch entschied ich mich es auszuprobieren. Ich bestellte mir ein Zwiebelsüppchen als Vorspeise und als Hauptgang gefüllte Ravioli mit Pilzen.

Alhoewel het in Januari erg rustig is op het eiland Skye, dus ook in het hotel/restautant was de bediening zeer voorkomend en vooral vriendelijk. het eten was prima gezien de prijs.

We booked an evening meal for 4 in this restaurant. The atmosphere was cool from the staff to the lack of heating in December. Maybe because we were English and found it very hard to understand the dialect of the Scottish staff, we may have had second rate service. I think not, the service I feel is normally poor and the staff appeared to have the attitude that anything was too much trouble to be bothered. The food when it finally arrived after long waits between courses was Luke warm and bland. We asked for hotter food and received the same meals back having obviously been blasted in the Microwave. Did not bother with desert as they sounded awful and lacking in imagination. The bill was appalling and did not give a tip except to advise them that they should visit McDonalds to see what proper food was.

A clean, warm and cosy restaurant with great service and food. Very good vegetarian options. Excellent desserts! My sister and I really enjoyed eating here. I wasn't so fussed with the fancy vegetarian patty in the burger and would have preferred a different choice. Breakfast in the morning was of limited choice, but very nice too. I would definitely eat here again if at the Isle of Skye and would recommend the restaurant to friends and family.

Saturday, late afternoon in Portree and trying to get a cooked meal isn't so easy. It seems to be 5pm before anywhere wants to serve food, besides the wee cafe, which had just closed.....crazy.

A bit cramped, but the food was very tasty and staff adorable, like a family. Was the only place we found a free table and were happy enough to go the second time too.

It's not a beautiful restaurant, or quaint, or special, but it is a good place to eat and offers good value. They offered some nice specials, the menu was pretty much like every other menu in the Outer Islands, but thats okay. Our server was lovely, friendly, attentive and welcoming. She handled our large table easily, as well as the rest of a very full dining room. The Cullin Skink was very good.
