Staying at the nearby Dornoch Caravan and Camping site we walked into Dornoch for a meal. We chose The Coach House because it is dog friendly. We received a warm welcome by staff and locals alike along with their dogs. Our haddock and chips arrived promptly and were delicious. However, our Westie started making a fuss. One of the locals and then a member of staff offered to “dog sit” so we could enjoy our meal. Exceptional! Thanks to all involved.

Arrived on time for pre booked table, seated on a couch for 10 minutes and told table is being cleaned and prepared, table we were sat at I had passed on the way to the toilet and at no point was being attended too, sat in corner of restaurant near bar/toilet, waited nearly half an hour while several staff members passed, never offered drinks, not acknowledged by anyone, left without ordering. Will not return.

We had a good meal here. The staff were obviously busy but very polite and apologetic when things were not available. All 3 meals were really nice and we didn’t have to wait too long. Thank you.

We went to the Couch House several times for a drink & the young guy Majic was very welcoming & friendly. We felt very Covid safe as there was enough room between tables , table service & sanitizer but decided not to visit on the busier nights in case this was different. We had a meal one night in the restaurant. We waited over an hour for our meal & had to ask the waitress what was happening , she told me it would be 3 minutes , 15 minutes later it arrived. I had a burger which was fine , my friend had steak which he enjoyed & my other friend had fish which was edible but a bit overcooked. I highlighted the extensive waiting time to the girl in charge when she collected the plates & said ,very pleasantly, that I think that she should have updated us on the extensive waiting time instead of just leaving us sitting there , I know they were busy but a wee update would have been appropriate. She was very polite although I'm sure she got my point , maybe she did. My friend said about her fish & she said she would have replaced it but we certainly were not going to wait further , she deducted the fish from our bill although we never asked her too but we appreciated this gesture & thanked her.

Service was fabulous - food was excellent - toilets were spotless. Very dog friendly - our wee pooch even got a bowl of water and a couple of gravy bone treats! All meals were lovely - 1 x Steak Pie, 1 x Scampi, 1 x Ploughmans, and 1 x Pizza.

Visited the couch house restaurant on the 28th July as five adults and two very young kids. Staff are extremely polite and made us feel more than welcome. The kids menu is lovely with the most amazing mini sundaes for pudding my daughter 3 was over the moon! Three of us had ribeye steaks and honestly they were the best steaks we have had in a long long time lovely flavour tender and cooked to perfection (2 medium/rare and 1 blue/rare) never has a place managed to get it so spot on. The brownies, banana split and sticky toffee pudding were also fabulous honestly not a bad word to say. Thanks again can’t wait to come back.

We went down to the coach house on out first night in Dornoch and enjoyed the atmosphere and the football was on which suited my husband, unfortunately they had stopped serving food that night it was about 8pm. We booked for dinner the next night and it was delicious with large portions. The guy was rushed off his feet until about 9.30 but kept cheerful. We booked again for the next night at 7.45 and we arrived in plenty of time to be told sorry not taking any more booking for food!!! We explained that we had booked a table the previous night but still remained no more food orders!!! In a place like Dornoch this is a problem as not many options at 8pm and not having booked a table . We were very annoyed as you can imagine as no apology or explanation was given.

Went to the third entrance that was supposedly for visitors, to watch the Scotland-England Euro 2020 match, but have never felt a more hostile vibe to outsiders in 5 years in the UK. After being ignored for a few minutes we left.

We visited this restaurant once on our 4-night stay in the area and after trying somewhere else local on another evening we wished we had returned to the Coach House. The food was very tasty and the service was good. Waiting staff were friendly and food was reasonably priced. There was a good distance between the tables and it was a COVID secure environment. You need to book ahead as the restaurant gets booked up even mid week. We will definitely return next time we are in Dornoch.

Extremely disappointed booked this after reading the reviews. The beef whist generous was tough as old boots. The Yorkshire pudding tasted off and we had to beg for salt! If you have any taste do not order the beef!

If you want to get drunk to the point you can't stand then this is the pub you want to go too, regardless of the L.S.O, £'s before responsible sale of alcohol even if you fall outside the pub. Staff training maybe an idea

Stopped off here whilst touring round the highlands - despite Covid measures in place a warm welcome was extended by the young Barman. The food was very well cooked and presented, nothing was too much trouble. The prices were very reasonable too. Thank you

Last night I took some friends from England out for a meal, because they had never been this far up in Scotland, As a scot I wanted to show off and take them to a nice local restaurant which claims to use all local produce so I choose the Coach House. It was dreadful, there was a table of 5 waiting to get there there food so they were not busy so had no excuse for the hour and 15 mins we waited for our meal to arrive especially as we had booked a table,. We ordered a 8o/z homemade burger, well when it arrived it was two processed burgers stuck together with a slice of burnt cheese, and then another on the top also burn. It included cold half cooked chips. we ordered steak pie with an assorted medley of veg, we got a bowl in the middle of a plate with half of the plate covered in uncooked carrots and instead of creamy mash it was a clapshot, which is not everyone's cup of tea, it was also cold. The rest of the meal was disgusting with burnt, half cooked chips, how they managed this I have no idea, and when we moved the fish the grease ran out all over the plate. I lifted an onion ring and squeezed the onion ring and the grease was dreadful it felt like a sponge. We didn't even wait for the rest of the meal. I asked to speak to the Chef/manager and he refused to come out and speak saying he was far to busy. what a joke the other table were also complaining about there meal so that only left two waiting to get there food. I must say I felt heart sorry for the waitress who was doing her best, and having to take the complaint's because the Manager/Chef was to lazy and spineless to address the problems.

Called in for a pint at lunchtime with further intention of "sussing out" the place for an evening meal later on(see restaurant review). Walking in,we found a pool table at one end of the bar and a large flat screen t.v.showing Sky Sports on the wall Found the bar person(can't call them barmaids these days!) attentive, friendly and helpful.Explained that the seated area in the rear of the pub served a lunchtime "pubgrub"menu, and in the evenings you could either eat downstairs or use the upstairs restaurant.Seemed well run, well organized and friendly,Oh,and we enjoyed the beers also.If I lived in the village, think this pub would become my local.

We were staying in the nearby Dornoch Castle hotel but waned to go for a few quiet beers and this place was recommended to us, it was welcoming and has a good selection of beers , a huge wood burning stove for cold nights. We had a few games of pool and were included in the craik with the locals so it was a fun evening.....we would definitely visit again whwn we next visit the nearby Whisky bar....Many thanks for your hospitality.

Hubby and I came for dinner, he had the fish and chips and I had macaroni cheese which was so tasty. The chips are like proper chip shop chips, good size portions served by 2 pleasant young girls. Good pub grub at reasonable prices.

My husband and I came in out of a blustery day to a warm welcome from the bar staff. The food was hot and delicious -freshly cooked on the premises. The decor and lighting leaves a bit to be desired, but apparently the new owners have big plans.

A total shambles. Sunday carvery .couldn't eat any of the meat as mostly fat.Plates so small you can't get much else on the plate.waitress saw me trying to catch her attention and hid .eventually came over sheepish with bill and at that point looked at all the fatty meat on plate and her response was sorry about that .we then never say any staff .They had vanished into kitchen .On our way out there was a lady who had mobility issues annoyed there was no disabled access just a set of very steep stairs .£24 each for 2 courses and only starter choice was soup.Dont waste your time .

This Country Hotel lacks love and attention. Outside front and sides are very tall weeds, the flower boxes were full of wilted. Car park resembles a quary.. On entering the dining room was well presented albeit I felt it chilly . Only 3 diners and we had to wait to see if we would be accommodated. We were..we sat at our table and the really lovely young server took our order limited menu and 3 choices off that evening.. Food was just OK...not value for money @ £17.95 for haddock and chips. Overall not the greatest.. I'd love to see the outside tidied up and give the hotel some road side appeal

After arriving at skye and looking for places to eat this proved a little difficult as it was out of season and places had limited opening hours. We went for Gabbro bar after seeing it on google maps. The pictures of food looked passable. After getting there having to get our own wipes to clean the table after ordering things weren't looking good, then the toilets were very rundown and like a back street bar toilets. The food then came out in baskets, lined with greaseproof paper. (Something you would expect in a arcade) Fish and chips and the macaroni and chips. Even a plate would have been acceptable even though the fish was clearly out the freezer and very greasy. To top it off a random dog was wandering around trying to smell the food on the table and pushing its way under the table to check for any food.

The fab cinnamon buns elevated our coffee stop from great to awesome! Other really yummy cakes are available. Oh, and the vegan tomato pizza swirl looked great too if you fancy a savoury.

Usually get coffee to go from here but decided to sit in with my one month baby and used the changing facilities which were in a disabled toilet. They were absolutely horrendous! Filthy and the handle and lock on the door was broken. Not only a health and safety issue but obviously a privacy issue for people needing the accessible bathroom. The other two toilets weren't much better either. Decided to leave and use the main shopping centre facilities instead.
