The Isles Inn Pub & Hotel in Highland

We had dinner at the Isle Inn Restaurant: - delicious high quality food in cosy atmosphere (the mushroom and cauliflower stroganoff was extraordinary!) - vegan/vegetarian options available!

Went for dinner. Venison Leg Shank, burger and roast beef dinner special were excellent.

Nice ambience. Kitchen closes at 8pm though, not 11pm as indicated in google. Only the bar is open till 11pm

Lovely little pub. The service was extremely friendly and the food and drinks were excellent. A little cramped with a high volume of visitors and therefore a little noisy at times, but the overall package is still very impressive.

We didn’t stay here and it was a quick stop for food but the food was so good. It has to be the best pie I have had in years and the best food I had in the isle.

We had lunch here. You shouldn't be deceived by the external impression, the food tastes good and is lovingly prepared and the staff is very attentive.

Staff were really friendly went above and beyond for us . I had the steak pie which was very yummy still thinking of that pie ! Quick service to just a lovely night !

We shared haggis and each had a burger. The great thing was that there was also a gluten-free alternative for my companion. The service is quick, reliable and friendly. The price-performance ratio was also good. The kitchen is small but all the dishes are very attractive (I saw it with my neighbors). We'd love to come back!

Near the main square so it's excellent location - but Portree is small. Food - visited 2ce mid January for food and drinks. We did not stay here. Staff are welcoming and very friendly. Spoke to us and were happy to have a laugh. Restaurant on one side, bar on the other. Decent amount of tables for food, ABIT smaller at pub side but had large old school fire. Seats are comfy at restaurant but at pub they were solid wood or metal which became uncomfortable after a while. Prices for 2 soups, 2 mains and 4 drinks (2 cokes/2beers) was around £60. Pints were roughly £5.50. Morgan's with lemonade and JD an coke was around £10. They only use bottles or cans as mixers as they don't do draft soft drinks. Food - small winter menu but food is absolutely amazing and great portions. Fish and chips - large haddock with a nice and soft but still crispy batter. Grilled lemon and chips and peas. Steak pie - fantastic portion and the beef melted in your mouth. Chips and varied veg. Had the carrot and ginger soup. Again, good portion with roll. Tasted more carrot than ginger but was still taste and homely. Would Def recommend.

Ok so were spending a day at the edge of civilisation in Portee, Skye. In the evening, we went the Isles Inn for food at around 18.30, because it seemed to be the only place that didn't require a reservation. The inn is split into two sections, restaurant and bar. We had been in the bar in the afternoon and found it to be a friendly place with polite staff and a good selection of drinks. At 1830 the plave was really full. Despite this, the staff were able to squeeze us into a corner. We had fish and chips and one of those skewered beefburger with the tomato/pickle trimmings and chips. The food was good, the beefburger outstanding. The fish was a very high quality fresh fillet and generously battered. Scrummy. Food service was on point and suitably tipped. We finished our food and went and sat back in the bar for a pleasant evening where, that night, French seemed to be the most commonly used language at the edge of civilisation!

The pub was a fun time, we went all 3 nights that we stayed in Portree, even though we stayed at a room up the street. The food was great, J was a treasure and live music on Tuesday night was a rippin’ good time!

This restaurant doesn't accept reservations, but we found it worth the wait. Relax with a pint or a cocktail in a great pub atmosphere and wait for a table. We waited about 45 minutes. The service and food were good. The fish and chips were probably the best my friend had tried in Scotland. I had the haggis, and it was good, although not the best I had tried.

We tried to enter and by mistake we sat at an empty table. The manager yelled at us in an extremely violent way. Then he offered to put us on a waiting list. We left immediately horrible experience

This is a great spot for a meal. They have live entertainment on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, but unfortunately I was not there one of those days. The seafood here is delicious, whether the fish and chips or the catch of the day. Staff are very friendly and accommodating.

We came for drinks and decided to stay for dinner. We had the fish and chips which was the worst we ever had (small frozen fish portion covered with massive breadcrumbs). Had few bites of it before sending it back. The waiter brought us another one but we ran into the same problem again. We explained what the problem was but they wouldn’t care and made us paid for it saying it was the best fish&chips in town!!!!!. They obviously haven’t tried it. We had a much better FRESH fish&chips at chippy on the harbour. NOT recommended!

Horrid fish and chips only topped by the rude and indifferent staff. The fish is all batter and a small piece of, seemingly, frozen fish. Chips taste like a generic, corporate, flavorless, out of the bag product. I ate only a small amount, sent it back, and got another portion of the same. Ate two bites of that and asked for the bill. I paid and asked to speak to the manager/owner. I was told she wasn’t there. I spoke with the aggressive bartender/server who said this was “the best fish and chips in town”. No apology and no concern about customer satisfaction. Sorry, this is a place that takes advantage of tourists and doesn’t care because they know they’re not sending away a customer who will ever be here again. All around awful; no pride in what they serve nor how they treat people. Unnecessarily poor.

We were looking for a place to eat on a Tuesday evening but Portree was super busy; had already tried 4 or 5 other places to be told they were fully booked or we could wait outside in the line for a table. The last place we tried recommended the Isles Inn as they don't take bookings, it's first come first served. There was already a line when we got there and we were told they had a full waiting list but that it could change in an hour. Luckily there were seats in the bar so we happily took a beer to wait it out. We hadn't even finished our first pint when we got seated in the restaurant. The food was excellent. Fish of the day cooked perfectly with broccoli & potato's and the cajun chicken burger with fries. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding and the toffee pudding Sunday. The service was great, the vibe was delightful and they had live music from 9pm. We were glad we ended up here as it turned out to be a wonderful evening. Would recommend.

Decent pub. I thought the beer tasted nice, but unfortunately could not sample the food due to overcrowding. I watched the World Cup of Rugby which was amusing (not for the locals as Scotland lost). Would happily visit again if I pass back through one day.

Very very busy evening with only 3 people in the front of house. Super nice pub food for a good price. I was blown away by the hospitality of the staff, very busy because of the rugby match but they had time for everyone and served everyone on time with a smile. Hard to find these days! Chapeau!

We were unceremoniously sent away because there were no more places available. There were at least 4 tables available and not reserved, so they did not do this. Shame.

We ended up here as they don’t take bookings and everywhere in Portree appeared to be closed or fully booked. However it turned to our advantage as it was great food and a fabulous atmosphere. Good local food that was well cooked. Bit of a wait so don’t expect fast food but that’s also because they were very busy. It’s not a complaint either as it gave us chance to chat to other travellers and relax.

Undercooked sea bass, broken tables and pots outside the door and a broken glass in the ladies loo left the impression of a lack of attention to both the food and the venue of insufficient care and attention.

The rating is based on the restaurant: There is no reservation, you come there and have to wait. But you can do that well at the bar. If you have a seat, the service is quick and friendly, the food is good and the price is okay. We're thinking about going to live music again.

I come in here every time I take my holidays on Skye. Used to be quite a decent pub with friendly staff. I came in yesterday for a beer and I'm stood at the bar with my pint as the pub was very busy with nowhere to sit. A very rude member of staff approached me and said can I help you? He could see I was holding my beer and said you will have to go into the lounge area. There was barely anywhere to stand never mind sit. Absolutely no way was I standing outside in the rain. Nowhere to park either. Disgusting!

In a heart of the city center. Packed but such a scotish vibe! It is our favourite pub on the island. Paid 11£ for 2 beers. They dont take reservations for food so be ready to wait a bit to get seted, but well worth it!

Cosy pub, and friendly staff. Fish and chips were pretty good. However, we also got a catch of the day which was a over salted salmon on an obviously old microwaved watery linguine with no taste. Shame because the fish itself tasted fresh.

This place was absolutely mobbed and we were lucky to get a table. So we were hopeful to be getting good food. We ordered pie of the day. Steak and ale. And fish n chips. The pie was so dry. The meat was tender but little to no gravy. The fish in batter was over cooked. Cutting into the batter just made it shatter all Over the plate. Inedible. No customer service. Nobody asks if everything ok. I feel due to the Portree being so busy with tourists and the establishments guaranteed business. They just do not care to give the wee bit of nice service that makes a visit memorable for the right reasons.

If you're looking for a sophisticated restaurant with tablecloths and waiters, keep looking. If you want to eat tasty and local food - you've come to the right place. Food served from 3 to 9 p.m., small, crowded room and bar area. Two nice waiters try their best and it's worth appreciating it, because all the tables are occupied all the time. Cold beer, hot soup and good local food - what more could you want? If you're looking for a hamburger, look for McDonald's. Here, order the soup of the day (e.g. sweet potato and coconut) or the cookie of the day (e.g. with beef), black pudding or local fish.

Pub with typical Scottish atmosphere. It is not very big and does not accept reservations so in high season it is very likely that you will have to wait for your table.

Always visit the Isles when in Portee, however was quite disappointed this year as no food served until 3pm, also tables in bar area awkward and uncomfortable to sit at .Its a pity as it was our go to place in Portree.

Dirty cloths that were on the floor were not replaced with fresh ones. Instead they were simply folded and placed back on the bed (the towels were still damp and dirty). After cleaning the room, the door was simply left open by the cleaning service with all of our valuables and travel items. The hotel room is dirty. There are definitely hotels with friendlier staff! However, the breakfast was very good.

Honestly wasn't sure what to expect. Service at the bar was a little slow but I was pleasantly surprised by dinner. The food was great, I had the Duck breast special my girlfriend had the Cajun chicken sandwich both were awesome.

Very dirty room, hair everywhere on the floor, used cloths that were put on the dirty floor to be changed were just put back there dirty and used instead of replacing them! They didn't take any time at check-in "because there was too much going on at the bar" and so we stood there with our suitcases without any information. The food was okay to good, the location was good but the rest leaves a lot to be desired..

Haggis, neeps and tatties were the best I’ve had recently. Pie was excellent as was the burger. It’s busy but has a good vibe. The food is freshly prepared - would highly recommend if you are staying locally and need a good, humble, hearty feed!

Confusing restaurant, long wait, disappointing food, service requires training. A vegetarian option that was good. The long waiting line is bad and people who arrived later without Reservations were placed on the table beforehand.

I waited over 30 minutes for dinner. but, I was able to sit and drink, so it didn't bother me at all. and, It was worth the wait. The Soup of the day (seafood) was delicious and the Fish & Chips were also perfect. The green peas were also well cooked and I ate them all the way to the end. There was a notice on the wall telling us not to rush as there were few staff, but the service was efficient and comfortable. I think this is an extremely cost-effective shop in Portree. Recommended.

The two men who work here are incredibly rude (especially the bald English man). He kept shouting at people as they were coming in the door, and it was like this all night. I’m surprised they still have jobs considering how they were treating all their guests. Very unwelcoming. We waited an hour between our starter and main course. Food was average

I needed to use the WiFi from the bar, I ordered a drink, but like I was not a guest (I guess), the waitress didn't want to facilitate the password. I can understand this policy when any bar has an open WiFi for using by clients. Normally, I don't care about this, but this time, I needed access to the Internet.

A very friendly traditional Scottish pub, with a practical concept in high season: no reservations, you introduce yourself, we take your name, and you sit down with a drink while waiting to be called to eat. This is a pub, you shouldn't come here to eat star-studded food, and the food itself is comforting, even more so after a nice hike. Generous portions, fresh products (but no homemade fries, like almost all pubs, only small "flaw"), very pleasant and hardworking staff. We had two very good evenings!

Un pub traditionnel écossais très sympathique, avec un concept pratique en pleine saison: pas de réservations, vous vous présentez, on prend votre nom, et vous vous installez avec un verre en attendant qu'on vous appelle pour manger. Il s'agit d'un pub, il ne faut pas venir ici pour manger étoilé, et la nourriture en tant que telle est réconfortante, encore plus apres de belles randos. Des portions généreuses, des produits frais (mais pas de frites maison, comme quasiment tous les pubs, seul petit "défaut") un staff très agréable et travailleur. On a passé deux très bonnes soirées ! Je recommande !

We arrived a little later at 6 p.m. and therefore had to wait over an hour for a table. The food was OK but not a highlight.

Wonderful meal in this cozy restaurant/bar, including friendly service. No reset so, but waited less than 30mins while having a drink. Fish of the day was hake, beautifully prepared, and the steak & ale pike was a winner. Delightful experience after a long day of travel.

Moins de queue qu'ailleurs (c'est un signe...) et malgré une réservation il a fallu attendre longtemps avant d'être placés. Ce pub banal propose des plats basiques très moyens, aussi bien en goût qu'en présentation, le tout avec un service débordé. Déception en dépit de tarifs raisonnables.

We had dinner in the bar downstairs and the burgers we ordered were great! Tip: arrive soon, otherwise like everything else in Portree will be fully booked during the busiest months of the year. Highly recommended!

The bar is fun. That's where we should have stopped. Waiting for tables was long since they do not take reservations so we hung out in the bar talking with locals - very enjoyable. Food was just ok. Nothing special. Tables are very close together.

It was a worry-free stay: simple check in, simple booking of table for dinner (queue, but food worth it), drinks at the bar at night, great breakfast with hot pastries, children welcome everywhere. Bar expenses added to room charges if preferred. Moreover, rooms looked better...
