As someone who has worked in the food and catering industry for years, I find it astonishing that there are recent incredibly negative reviews regarding this restaurant. Our experience was nothing short of 5 stars. The food was exceptional, the quality of the produce, the execution and the presentation. It was a lovely mix of top quality seafood, traditional Scottish fare, with some Asian touches thrown in and it worked a treat. Service was bang on. Not over the top, just well timed, very professional and friendly. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Housed in a lovely old stone building - a relaxing, calm atmosphere that hums along nicely, lovely location and outlook. My husband and I (both fish and meat eaters) chose different options for each course and really couldn’t fault a thing. If you are hesitating because of the negative comments, don’t - enjoy the experience. It’s not cheap - this isn’t somewhere you would dine everyday, so we opted for the lunch fixed price menu. Would return in a heartbeat. We have been travelling through Scotland for 3 weeks, and have had some absolutely lovely meals - but this one is the best.

Good for a quick drink as you walk along the river. Important information: Needed a pit stop after walking across the bridge from the city centre and before walking along the river. This pub is situated nicely. Not much in the way of atmosphere during the day. There was the technology to play music but none was on. Very quiet. Alcohol: good range of drinks on offer. Fosters on tap which is disappearing in London. John Smiths also on offer so my dad will be happy. I opted for small bottle of Prosecco. Fun fact: advertised as the oldest hostelry in Inverness

En pint og en whisky efter 15.000 skridt det må være fortjent. Vi boede lige i nærheden, så det er på vej tilbage til vores hotel. De lokale stod i baren og hyggede sig, så man kan hurtigt få en snak. Tak for besøget.

Drink given in a chipped glass. Request for replacement cheekily refused. Very disappointing service, almost being accused of being corrupt. Won’t be back. In a group of 8 people, hardly trying a scam for 1 drink. Poor response from the barmaid.

We visited this pub to spend a little time while waiting for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. Since it was a Six Nations rugby-loving establishment, we got to enjoy an England vs. Wales rugby match with some locals who came in (although we are not particularly rugby fans). The bartender was very pleasant and instantly remembered our previous drink order each time for successive visits to the bar (three in total). The pub itself was wonderfully warm and inviting on a cold winter day with comfortable seating. The next time we are in Inverness we will be sure to stop in for a pint or two.

Wandered in here by chance. The locals were extremely friendly, even bought me a pint when they heard I was from France. They gave me great advice on how to make the most of my visit in Inverness, told me about the Great Glen Way and which restaurant to go to for Haggis. Rhiannon the bartender was absolutely lovely and managed to recommend a whiskey according to my taste preferences. A lovely place I’d surely visit again.

Warm highland Welcome awaits inside, what a joke. We were a couple just looking for somewhere to have dinner & drinks. We were told that they don’t have food & then the barmaid didn’t even want to serve my husband at the bar for drinks, she was only interested in serving the locals. Too many other pubs in the area to go for drinks.

As we were staying at the Premier Inn a few doors away this was the closest pub. The sign outside says 'A warm Highland welcome awaits'. WARM??? About as warm as a penguin on an iceberg. The lady on the bar just wasn't interested. We ordered 2 vodka/diet coke and when I say a splash of coke, that's exactly what it was, a splash, served in a thimble size glass. I asked for them to be filled up, much to the woman's annoyance. I then asked for a diet coke and a whisky. Everything was obviously too much of an effort. We then had the nerve to ask for ice. The response? No ice. Not I'm sorry but we don't have ice at the moment, no, No ice. Not surprised, maybe the bloody penguin's got it all! :) Give this one a wide berth. There's lots more friendlier bars across the bridge.

Dropped in for a couple of beers. Cold miserable night & this bar looked very appealing from the outside. Inside is a dimly lit somewhat cosy environment in I suppose you could call it "old Scottish" - dark oak panelling, photos of the bar in times past & the oligatory Monarch of the Glen print.Bartender was pleasant, other customers friendly & beer was good. Quiet & subdued on the midweek night I visited, but I guess with a pool table & fruit machine has signs of being more lively perhaps on a weekend. I enjoyed it more than the rowdy bars across the river.

Dreadful food. After waiting for more than 40 minutes our inedible burgers arrived. Mine had 2 pieces of lettuce and a dry patty that was inedible until I added barbecue sauce. By the time the sauce arrived it was cold so even less pleasant. My husband's burger had bacon that was so hard he couldn't cut it. And the same patty. I gave an honest answer when asked about my meal and suggested they needed a new cook. It was the worst meal I have eaten in years. I'm told it used to be good. Avoid it at all costs.
