Very poor, just not what we were hoping for. The two members of staff were NOT communicative nor helpful. A great disappointment

Visited on the way to Dornoch beach. Staff were very friendly. Food was quickly served and very tasty. Good varied menu. Easy parking. I'd go again if visiting Dornoch beach.

£38 for 2 very soggy lunches. The haddock was a huge piece of battered haddock in a wrap with a smidgen of salad. The wrap went soggy and turned to glue on the teeth, horrible…and tastless. all the sauces in the ‘help yourself’ bottles were nearly finished. However, The chips were nice & crispy, as was the scampi…but the scampi was in a brioche type roll! And you guessed it went soggy, fell apart. All in all most of it went in the bin, nothing gourmet about it. I am hoping that all the tourists paying for this dont think that this what we in Scotland think is gourmet..as it is most definitely not. Coffee was also kind of tastless…so disappointed, Pros. Nice big tent to eat in Fantastic beach Crispy chips & Scampi Cons: everything seems to come in a wrap or bun..ask if you can have it without. Very pricey Staff are pleasant but seem stressed.

ok for a quick lunch but a wee bit expensive. Lobster roll and chips, scampi roll and chips. It was pouring rain and the open tent was useless.

To be honest, I think I built this up way too much from reading the great reviews. For me, it was good food but nothing that blew me away. Tucked around the corner from the Dornoch Caravan and Camping area, it was okay to find (don’t use Apple Maps though). There was ample parking for all vehicle types and a decent, well-equipped park nearby, including a French Boules court and sand pit. My wife queued for the food and ordered a few items. I opted for the Cod Burger with Chips and a Latte. The Coffee was spot on and my meal was well cooked, but just lacked that spark. I was expecting gourmet but instead got something run of the mill. That being said, the plate was clean at the end and the food demolished in no time. For the whole family to eat, it was just shy of £35. A bit on the steeper side but not bank breaking. I’d go as far as saying that the food was too a high standard but not something that particularly excited me. Would I go back? I probably would - experiment the ever changing menu!

Freshly toasted and prepared bagels with tea - so delicious and not at all heavy. We'll definitely be back and recomending to friends

Nice spot near the beach ( but not in sight if it) Was quiet (September) but good quality freshly cooked food, friendly service. There were only 3 choices on the menu and 1 was expensive lobster.

We visited this beach seafood(and meat), shack two years ago and thought it couldn’t get better. Service was great, so helpful and accommodating. Went back on this visit and the food has gone from excellent to fantastic. Fresh, tasty and imaginative. Also added tented area for when the weather changes. Menu changes depending on what is available. Can pre book food to eat there or takeaway by messaging via Facebook page. Take your own drinks and glasses and dogs very welcome!!! Well done. Must be one of best places to eat in area.

Hugely disappointed. Overpriced and not the quality claimed, maybe I caught them on a bad day? I ordered lobster in a brioch roll, it was substantially more salad than lobster in the roll. Maybe two teaspoons of lobster meat in total, certainly no more than a mouthful. The roll itself tasted stale but the chips were at least good. Yet for £19 I’d expect much higher quality than what was served. Can’t recommend based on my experience. Sorry.

What a fab find the Highland Larder was!! If you're in Dornoch make this amazing beachside food place your first choice for great coffee and awesome seafood. We went for coffee early in the day and were so impressed by the great menu board with local fish that decided to order our evening meal to collect later. We loved it. Food delicious and well presented. Great friendly service.

We first found this location when we moved north last summer. It’s never failed to deliver. Tonight we had the sharing seafood platter. Fantastic quality. Superb value. More than enough for two. Totally recommended.

Paid just a few pence short of £30 for two lattes (which were lukewarm) and two Venison in Pitta bread which came with french-fries and salad. Whilst the pitta bread and venison was edible, the french-fries and salad was not...the fries had clearly been fried in cooking oil which badly needed changing and the salad was clearly one or two days old and therefore inedible/unsafe to eat. In addition, the serving staff were unfriendly and clearly there just to pick up their pay cheque. All in all, an experience never to be repeated and for a £30 expense, would definitely be going elsewhere as this in no way (even remotely) represented value for money.

As someone who has worked in the food and catering industry for years, I find it astonishing that there are recent incredibly negative reviews regarding this restaurant. Our experience was nothing short of 5 stars. The food was exceptional, the quality of the produce, the execution and the presentation. It was a lovely mix of top quality seafood, traditional Scottish fare, with some Asian touches thrown in and it worked a treat. Service was bang on. Not over the top, just well timed, very professional and friendly. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Housed in a lovely old stone building - a relaxing, calm atmosphere that hums along nicely, lovely location and outlook. My husband and I (both fish and meat eaters) chose different options for each course and really couldn’t fault a thing. If you are hesitating because of the negative comments, don’t - enjoy the experience. It’s not cheap - this isn’t somewhere you would dine everyday, so we opted for the lunch fixed price menu. Would return in a heartbeat. We have been travelling through Scotland for 3 weeks, and have had some absolutely lovely meals - but this one is the best.

Visited 3 times in 5 days and probably spent more on coffee than we did on merchandise (and Tiso is an excellent shop by the way). Excellent coffee, lovely cake selection and a truly fantastic full English/Scottish breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. View to the Cairngorms outstanding and our doggy companions most welcome.

Popped in for the first time recently mid morning, missed breakfast and was very hungry. I ordered a tuna salad sandwich for myself, and 2 black pudding filled rolls for family. While waiting for them to be made to order, I couldn’t help but notice a delicious looking homemade cheesecake, so had to get a couple of wedges of that too for sharing, it was absolutely lovely, a total treat. Black pudding rolls and my tuna sandwich were much enjoyed, the bread was really good quality, not the cheap stuff, and the fillings also good quality and fresh. I shall be back, next time I will be trying the grilled hallumi sandwich, and most likely there homemade cake. Good quality food at a very reasonable price
