Poppy's Coffee Shop in Highland

Just popped in for lunch at Poppy's. Excellent menu, I had what was obviously homemade cauliflower cheese soup with Tiger bread (which the waitress kindly changed for brown with no fuss. Others in our party had a jacket potato with beans, a beef and horseradish s/w and an egg mayo s/w made with freshly boiled eggs. The food was so fresh and delicious. I can highly recommend, please use this great local business

Excellent value for money for a full Scottish breakfast. Good produce, well cooked, timely service. Fabulous menu choices and delicious looking cakes and traybakes. We have visited before and will do so again. Thank you ladies.

Comfy, clean and cosy. The service was impeccable, helpful, polite and very efficient. The food came out fast and was soooooo good and beautifully presented. The staff even made an alternation to suit me. Nice strong tea as well. The price is very competitive 😀 We'll be visiting again.

We are local within 20 miles this little cafe is run by young lady’s always smiling it’s a pleasure to go there . Good choices of food and cakes sandwiches etc breakfast is to die for brilliant

We just paid 8 pound something for double espresso and flat white… when we asked why is so expensive she said with sarcasm that the espresso is double which is not ok. Because she made the espresso in small cup and the same amount like the regular one.. she didn’t put extra coffee in the cup just with more water!! Very disappointed… never visit again!

Found this fantastic cafe when we stayed in Golspie for the week. The staff were amazing and made us feel very welcome. We had lunch a couple of days as well and the was well presented and excellent. We will definitely be back and a must for anyone passing through Golspie.

Stopped here for lunch - I ordered a baked potato and my partner went for a wrap. Both meals were delicious and good value for money (big portion sizes). Service was very friendly and welcoming, would definitely go back if we were ever in the area.

We haven't visited since before the pandemic so we were delighted to find not only is the cafe still there, but the food is still just as good. We had the plain jacket potato and chilli beef burrito respectively, and both were excellent. The potato was fluffy on the inside with crispy skin and came with lots of butter, and both meals also had a tasty side salad with really good homemade coleslaw. For dessert we went for the caramel pancakes and cherry pie, which were delicious. We can also recommend the milkshakes, which are thick! You get a lovely warm welcome and it's a nice cosy set-up inside. Everything is also really good value, coming to just under £30 for the two of us. We'll definitely be back soon.

Bought two cheese scones to take away. £5. Opened the bag this afternoon and disappointed to see they looked more like Aberdeen butteries. Flat. They were tasty, but at £2.50 each, not great value. Milk and Honey in Dornoch have less expensive scones at twice the size of these

Really lovely menu with something for everyone. The Jamaican Sweet Potato soup was delicious! Sandwiches were delightful. And the full Scottish breakfast was excellent. We were 4 adults and an older child and we booked a table on the morning to make sure there was space. Glad we did as it was quite busy. Coffee was very good quality. Everything deathly made and the staff were really kind and accommodating. Cakes looked AMAZING but we were too full! Highly recommend for breakfast or lunch.

Back in Golspie again, so pleased that Poppies is still there and as good as ever. Same fantastic food , and 1st class service. Great value, and none stop smiles from the girls. We can't fault anything about Poppies, spotlessly clean. In Hospice or passing through well worth stopping off.

Fab wee place that we visited 3 times in 2 days! My boys loved the breakfast rolls and Mr Whippy style ice cream served in bowls. My lunch, coffee and cake was delicious. Will be back next time we’re up!

On a stop at Golspie came across this little gem. Amazing food. If you are driving through do not hesitate to stop here. It is excellent.

What a recommendation this was, So we tried it today, and could not be more happy. Excellent service, Spotless , and great value for money. I had todays special, Which was Smoked Cheese and Bacon Macaroni Served with Garlic bread and fresh salad and home made coleslaw, terrific Macaroni was the best I've had anywhere, Wife Had home Broccoli and Stilton soup she's still talking about it !!! Great value for money, a must visit if you are in the area.

We had lunch here before visiting Dunrobin Castle. The food was reasonable and very good. There was a lot of choice and we all enjoyed what we had. The staff were absolutely lovely. Nice atmosphere too. We’d definitely come back.

Had pot of tea and coffee and scones for two. Cheese scone and plain scone. Food and drinks were very tasty. The service was welcoming and efficient. Good atmosphere in the restaurant. Hygiene practices were good leading to feeling comfortable in this restaurant. Would fully recommend.

Went in for lunch for first time on a very hot day. Food was so tasty, we had prawn salad that was simply delicious. Staff friendly and obliging. Good range of cakes and herbal teas, I like green tea so very happy. Seats outside as well as inside.

The second time I have tried to visit Poppy's Coffee Shop. September 2019 closed before 4pm midweek. Today 11th Oct 2020, sign said "open" wandered in at 3:10 to be greeted by "We're just closing" So much for opening earlier and closing later.Guess the cuisine may be amazing, the coffee beautiful but I'll never know. Visited twice as part of a trip to the Highlands.The tables were well distanced.The menu was varied and the food was really good. I can also recommend the milkshakes. We took cakes to takeaway so we could enjoy them later.I would really recommend this cafe for a good lunch.

First visit for almost a year. Nothing has changed. A good range of breakfasts and lunches. Prices reasonable and service quick and friendly. Most importantly a very enjoyable lunch. Recommended

Easy parking in the middle of the village on the A9 staff are very friendly plenty of home made cakes to choose from also a full lunch if you need one

I was visiting every few days whilst on business and had lunch here most times when in Golspie more to follow on the other places. What a lovely place clean with a welcoming and lovely staff. Basic menu you may say but the specials changing weekly are superb and all the soups are home made and delicious. Deals to be had with a soup and a sandwich and I was never disappointed. Home baking and a carry out service plus good coffee makes this a busy place. Clean toilets and light background music added up to a pleasant visit each time. Loved the chicken burrito. with all the sides.

We were looking for someplace to have lunch before going to Dunrobin Castle and lucked into this cafe. All five of us loved our sandwiches. The sides were excellent, too. We had the green tea and raspberry cake- unique and really tasty. All the baked goods looked great. The staff was friendly and the service good.

Having walked the length of Golspie, the Big Burn Walk, and back through Golspie I need a break and Poppys Coffee Shop turned out to be a gem. My wife enjoyed a decent pot of tea and The Dessert was just too much!I still finished it.

Home made soup looked delicious but we had scrambled egg and bacon and a bacon, Brie and cranberry toastie, with coffee for lunch. Food was piping hot and plentiful - I couln't finish the accompanying salad, although it was beautiful, with a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Food was very well prepared and tasty.Altogether very good value for money and an ideal stopping place on the road north. Thanks for a pleasant interlude.

The staff here were so friendly and welcoming. I had a brownie and a mega hot chocolate. Everything was delicious and I loved sitting near the window watching the activity on the high street. Great place.

We went this morning for our usual birthday breakfast. We were so disappointed, the bacon was rock hard, I could not eat it, the tattie scone was burnt and the black pudding was also well cooked. I was wishing I had sent it back, my friends said they would have put their’s back too. What happened, I used to so look forward to my trip up to Golspie. The next birthday is November and seriously considering going elsewhere which I never thought I would say.

We stopped for a light bite for lunch and were impressed with the selection of food on offer. Happy smiling and friendly couple who were happy for us to share a sandwich with side salad and coleslaw. Lots of choice in drinks. The cakes, traybakes and scones looked very nice too. Would stop again.

We stopped here for lunch after doing the Big Burn walk (also highly recommended !). Excellent selection of food - I would have liked to have tried all the deserts and cakes but after a super goat cheese and red pepper toastie with salad and crisps, there was only room for one - a fabulous Turkish delight cheesecake. It’s a very friendly place and is highly recommended for a tasty lunch or snack.

Travelling north to Orkney after an early start, we were feeling peckish as we approached Dornoch. We stopped at a roadside restaurant to discover it was not open. Our morning was saved by coming upon Poppy's on Golspie Main Street.

Visiting Golspie for the day and went in with my 2yr old daughter. Made to feel welcome. My daughter has a dairy intolerance and was catered for with a lovely scone and dairy free spread, whilst I had poached eggs on toast. Nice clean toilets. Will definitely visit again.

We stopped here for lunch last week on way to Dunrobie Castle. We had an amazing bowl of soup and bread, great sandwiches. Lots of choices for vegetarians as well. They added salad to the lunches which was nice, and the desserts were amazing!

Stopped off here for a bit of lunch. The cafe was quite busy but we got a table next to the window. We were served very quickly and asked for the broccoli and Stilton soup. This arrived quickly. I’m guessing there is a fast turn over of customers so not in their interests to keep guests waiting. I had brown bread and my colleague had a cheese scone. She was surprised that it was toasted, but said it was delicious and she’d try that in future. I had a honeycomb latte, which was lovely. I know my boss always stops here when travelling through Golspie and I would definitely go again.

We called for a pit-stop en route South from Orkney. We found it clean, welcoming and serving great food.

Stopped for a quick snack while passing through Golspie with my son what a find good foor at reasonable prices something for evryone home baking is fantastic and your looked after and welcomed from the minute you step in the door. This will definatley be a regular stop in future.

Great surprise for lunch we were just looking for a quick lunch break and were more than happy with our luck. Simple menu great taste and service. The lentil soup is fantastic value and fantastic coffee, would recommend the stop.

Visited Poppy’s for a wonderful Christmas meal. Portions were very generous and the fresh cooked food was delicious. This cafe is normally wonderful but today it surpassed even their normally high standard

Popped in last Saturday to buy some coffees and scones with jam and butter but was very disappointed to find that the girl had used Flora margarine instead! Did not taste the same at all!

Popped in 1630 with the better half. Bowl of veg broth, split yellow peas needed a wee bit longer, wife's scone and jam was delicious she said and a nice latte and flat flat. Haven't been for a few years, much much better this time will definitely go back
