Friendly staff, good service and nice coffee. Cafe open until 11 every night - perhaps unique in Edinburgh for local night owls like myself.

Very nice place to eat and the food was of excellent quality but it is expensive for what it is offered. Only really for special occasions.

Went to the Mazzoli Italian Kitchen at the Tyneside Tavern today for lunch. We were blown away as everything was fantastic. The food was excellent, the service was great and the atmosphere was lovely. We had the lunch special and had haggis and focaccia with garlic mushrooms, then pepperoni pizza. The starters were delicious and highly recommended. The pizzas were perfect. The choice on the lunch special were fantastic, lots to of lovely dishes to choose from. For dessert we had cheesecake of the day, which was toffee. It was to die for!! We couldn't believe how good value for money it was! The staff were all friendly and helpful and we didn't feel rushed at all. The man who served us was super friendly (sorry didn't get his name) , made us feel very welcome! We will definitely be back!

My mate took me here a few years ago and we always go back when we are back in town. Great old boozer. Best Guinness in town as well.

We have been there on a Fringe event. Ordered two cocktails, werent tasty, because felt just lot of lemon juice. Like a bad lemonade, but 12 pounds/each. Shame

Coffee nice. Staff friendly but not chatty to non regulars. Toilets disgusting. Dirty with toilet brush sitting in a pool of brown water. This was at 8.30 in the morning.

A tiny cafe. It was later moved to Diagon Alley, its current location. The original cafe is closed due to fire. Butterbeer is not very good. The butterbeer at WB tour London was better.

Surf and turf was outstanding!! The peppercorn sauce was the star of the show! Everything was perfectly cooked. Best meal we had on our London/Edinburgh trip so far!

Coffee prices are pretty fixed here. Good selection of pastries.

The secret of this fantastic restaurant is definitely the family who runs it.We have spent time over the last 15 years going to the Rocks in Dunbar when Jim was running the show along with James and Jack and now over the last few years James is in charge along with Mark. The new menu which was just in place was great. We had mussels and chicken to start with followed by the pork and duck leg main course.That would have been enough but just had to try a dessert which was selection of ice cream and sorbet and a crème brûlée and coffee.A nice well kept beer went well too.If we didn’t live 200 miles away we would be there most weeks so the round trip will have to be once a month,it’s that good.
