We were a group of 9 visiting the area from down south over the Easter weekend. We ordered a selection of food from the menu, including the filled Yorkshire Pudding, Chicken & Mushroom Pie, Steak Pie, and Chicken Tikka. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were large, in fact several of our party were unable to finish their meals! Honestly the best Chicken & Mushroom pie I've ever had and I also helped my adult Son with his Yorkshire Pudding which was filled with the most tender braising steak (other fillings were available). And all at amazing prices (half the price of what we're used to down south). Hoping there's a need to visit the area again so we can return to the Boatman's Rest!

We've tried several pizzas all around the local and surrounding areas, and this is by far one of the best. We keep coming back and have been for years. We usually go for takeaway and love the thin base with the doughy crust - so soft, airy, and consistently good every time.

This has always been a favourite place to visit but I won’t be coming back anytime soon. We had booked a table but it wasn’t busy and shown to our seats. On the menu there was 2 vegetarian and 1 vegan option. I ordered the beetroot and goats cheese quiche. The server came back and said they didn’t have it ok I’ll have the wild mushroom frittata sorry we don’t have that either. What do you have an olive and something quiche. I don’t like olives so only other option was the penang curry. Which they had. (I don’t come out to lunch for a cheese sandwich so that’s not an option). The server didn’t apologise or have any pleasantries other than to take order. My mam and auntie had corn beef pie which with chips and veg looked like a decent portion. The curry however had more rice than curry a few crakers that sweet chilly sauce had spilt over them. It was ok but I’ve had better. No one came to clear our table or ask if we wanted cake or more drinks even tho it wasn’t busy. I had to ask for the bill again not even asked if we’d enjoyed the food. I asked for two takeaway scones and paid the bill. However a different server brought the scones on plates sorry I’d asked for takeaway. No apology. I’ve never had such a disappointing experience here. Sorry but I won’t be back 😔

This place is so comfortable to sit and have a drink. Staff are warm and friendly. Our Bailey's coffee and double hot chocolate were delicious. The sheep-themed decor is ever so sweet, yet tasteful. A variety of music plays in the background (not all of it to certain staff's tastes), but it's not loud. This place was recommended by Tourist Information and I'm so pleased it was.
