Managed to get a walk-in early evening after they shuffled tables around for us and very glad they did. The experience menu was fantastic as were the pre- and after cocktails. Great service and just a wonderful eating experience.

We tried to book a table on a Sunday evening 2 weeks in advance and could only secure a reservation for 8.15, a little later than preferred, but such is the popularity of the restaurant. The ambiance hits you immediately on entering the room, a relaxed, informal atmosphere with a mix of bar stools and dining tables. The menu was so inspiring and interesting and we were advised to order 3 or 4 small plates. We ordered 3 each and were really full. The execution of the dishes lived up to the menu. We chose the mussels on toast, the fried artichokes, the aubergine, the hummus, flatbread, preserved lemon aioli, lamb cigars, sea bream, burrata and leeks and they were all exceptional. Next time we will be sure to book earlier. It was an unforgettable evening, both for the delicious food and the excellent service.

One of the best meals I've had in a long time! We came down from London for a friends Birthday, and could not have picked a better spot. I was blown away by the quality of the dishes, and the service was impeccable. Attentive, but not overbearing and we weren't rushed out at any point. There wasn't a single dud on the menu, but highlights would definitely be the Jerusalem Artichokes, the BBQ chicken thigh and the Miso aubergine. I can't wait to come back!

Working in a 5-star hotel restaurant has definitely raised the bar for my dining expectations, so I came to Burnt Orange with an open mind but also some excitement after browsing the menu beforehand. The flatbread came highly recommended by the hostess, so even though it wasn’t part of my original plan, I decided to give it a try. It had a lovely burnt butter flavour, but honestly, it was just too salty for me. The halloumi, though, was a pleasant surprise. I often find halloumi overwhelming, but the combination of honey, basil, and pistachio struck the perfect balance—each flavor worked harmoniously together. But let me tell you, the true showstoppers were the BBQ chicken thigh and cheesy, creamy baked potatoes. Absolutely exquisite. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the homemade pickles, slaw, and that incredible dill-flavored ranch elevated the dish even further. I’d return to Burnt Orange just for that meal—no hesitation. The service was top-notch—attentive, well-timed, and seamless. Despite dining solo (which can sometimes feel like you’re overlooked), I felt comfortable and valued throughout the meal. Starters and mains were served and finished within 40 minutes, which was impressive. My expectations were fairly reasonable going in, but Burnt Orange exceeded them. While there were a few small imperfections here and there, I left feeling satisfied and eager to return. I’d give it a solid 4/5, and honestly, I’d come back any day of the week for that chicken and potatoes!

Went for a birthday lunch (3 vegetarians) and had the best meal of 2024! Everything was amazing. We had the set veggie menu for two then ordered the squash and burrata in addition. That was plenty for 3 adults. Highlights were the skillet baked potatoes, the amber squash, and the charred harissa hispi cabbage - best plate of the day for me!

This is a buzzing place with great food and good service. The staff are friendly and the food is tasty and different.we selected various dishes for starters and mains then shared them all. It's quite expensive but the experience justifies the cost. The prawn starter was outstanding. My only complaint would be that the second flatbread we ordered and then the beef nain were far too salted. We did tell the server who thanked us for the feedback and said the beef was new to the menu. There was no reduction on menu nor any gesture of goodwill.

We did tell the staff who thanked us and said they'd feedback to the kitchen as it was new on the menu. We were very surprised that there was no concession on the bill.

I think what you have created is why you are so popular. just from your reputation I realised it was going to be a little bit more expensive but this was a treat for our anniversary and I wanted to go somewhere nice. The staff where amazing and so friendly and made us feel really comfortable, they greeted us with a happy anniversary which I though was very thoughtful. they help us through the menue and we settled on the set menu which was amazing the flat bread was extraordinary which seems a ridiculous thing to say. For drinks I wanted something with rum and I was recommended the rum and almond old fashioned which was lovely. all in all it was a great experience and would definitely recommend.

Amazing night at Burnt Orange. Fanastic host, who welcomed us with some prosecco for a delay to our seating. We had fantastic service from our waitress, who advised us on amazing dishes. the food was delicious, with incredible accommodation for my friends gluten intolerance. The end of the booking, we had run over, due to starting late (and ordering an extra dish because it was all so flipping fantastic) and had to vacate our table. It was done with such kindness, and sense of humour, that we were not put out by this. Would love to visit again!

I always have a great experience here! I discovered this restaurant a couple of years ago, living in Lewes and having moved down from London. I'm always a fan of small plates but every single dish I have had here is sensational. The staff really look after you, every time. They make running a busy restaurant seem effortless and fun! Food is excellent, highlights include the Halibut and Sea Bass (sauces in particular are delicious). Wine very nice, and cocktails also top quality. 4/5 stars is due to the service: they seemed understaffed, which unfortunately meant we had to flag down staff to order (food, drinks, everything) with a few miscommunications (we were offered dessert but then the menu was removed before we could order). It may have been because we had counter seating and not a table, but that was the only negative of an otherwise great meal.

As a family we have pretty high standards when it comes to restaurants - Burnt Orange scores 5 stars on every front. First of all the food -inventive and tasty from the giant prawns with zhug, the 'who'd have thought that would work' mussels on toast, classic wood fired lamb chops and buttery sea bream and dreamy aubergine and crispy onions. thoughtful wine list and fun cocktails. very efficient, super friendly but not intrusive service (not an easy trick to pull off) and relaxed atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, the place was amazing. Great greeting at the door. The staff were lovely and friendly. Bron was our waitress and she was amazing. We had cocktails and then just a mixture of starters and mains, we asked for the chef to send out his favourites as we wanted to try the best. It did not disappoint. Date: 6th September 2024 Cost: £175 for two I’m not entirely sure why it took so long to get round to getting down to Burnt Orange, but Mich and I finally managed to cash in on a voucher I had for their ‘experience for two’ - the day before its 12 month expiry. I say I’m not sure because on paper Burnt Orange is right up my street: “simple, flavour-packed dishes designed for grazing” smoked over open, wood-crackling fires in “a grown-up hangout; a place you feel relaxed” with an extensive drinks menu to boot. So I was excited. As we settled in with cocktails (I’m not sure where my recent taste for martinis has come from but on this evidence it’s not my tastebuds) we agonised animatedly over whether to actually go with the experience or put the equivalent value towards our final bill. In the end we opted for a sort of hybrid - the experience with a few swaps and bolt-ons - but it was possibly this agonising that led to a question as to whether we minded things coming out when they were ready. Sure, we don’t mind. All of a sudden our little table was brimming, overflowing with food: flamed flatbread with sesame brown butter, prawns the size of bananas in a herb ‘zhug’, lamb 'cigars' with a padron yoghurt, honeyed halloumi with chilli, mint and pistachio. Oh, and olives. Plain old olives. Let me tell you now: the bread was sensational. It was warm - which always makes you want to gobble it down quickly - and crispy and soft in the right places, with a salty umami glaze - which made me want to savour it. But it’s never a particularly ringing endorsement of a place that isn’t a bakery for the bread to be the highlight. In fairness the prawns gave it a run for its money, especially the first hot one, juicy and swimming (not literally, sadly, any longer) in the zhug I’ve since found out to be a hot, herby green (I knew it was green) sauce originating in the Yemen. The bread was nice enough on its own but the cigars - slightly sweet - were employed after the prawns were done to mop up the dregs. Before we could finish everything or even come up for breath the basil and mango sea bream was jostling for space with the garlic aioli chicken, itself elbow-to-elbow with the apricot tandoori broccoli we’d picked over the hipsi cabbage on the strength of a description we'd overheard of it as “life-changing”. The herb-cream potatoes and the fennel and pecorino courgette had to be separated and held back after they were set down by our glasses of a very nice Minervois we’d selected according to the menu’s useful taste profiling. Meanwhile our unfinished starters were like middle-aged Mancunians at an Oasis gig, not budging an inch for the new generation. All were competing unabashedly for our attention, and it was, if I’m honest, slightly overwhelming - I couldn’t quite work out how to go about my business. I enjoyed almost everything - and plates were cleaned - but with the nagging sense that I would’ve enjoyed it all a bit more over a longer period with time to palate-cleanse as we went. Or - whisper it - if there hadn’t been quite so much experimentation with ingredients that for me stand up well enough without an arm round the shoulders of each of two kooky supporting accoutrements I’ve never heard of. I’m exaggerating, but sometimes you just want to enjoy your halloumi without having to wash the mint leaves out from between your teeth afterwards with some kind of horrific rouge mouthwash. Flavour-packed? Definitely. Simple? I’m not so sure. Maybe we’re just food philistines after all.

We were greeted a very friendly and enthusiastic way. Food was incredible. Great to share and try different things. It was fun to watch them prepare it while sitting at the counter. Drinks also great. Love the variety of margarita's. Also really good service and not that expensive for what is very good food and fun atmosphere. Some dishes sound simple but have really been done in a delicious and exciting way. Will definitely come again.

Visited Burnt Orange last week, and wow, the welcome and staff were incredibly warm and friendly. The menu was quite the attention-grabber! The first thing that caught my eye was how the dishes were crafted with ingredients sourced from all over the world. With items like pepper paste, Urfa butter, and Efes beer, I had a brief moment of "Wait, is the chef secretly Turkish?" Turns out, nope, just a Brighton chef with a global perspective that’s as wide as the horizon! The hummus with artichoke and the aubergine main dish? Absolute showstoppers—they’ve earned a top spot on my "best meals ever" list. Would recommend with a big smile to anyone!

We tried the tasting menu and it was to die for. The portions were generous too, we didnt expect to leave so full after a tasting menu. Service was in point, professional staff but relaxed atmosphere as oposed to other Michelin star restaurants were we felt like in a staged show. I could say the prices are reasonable too for what you get.

Awesome place! Saw it on a list of 'best restaurants and cocktail bars in Brighton', in readiness for a couple of days away, and we went last night. The wait staff were absolutely excellent, so friendly and warm, the atmosphere was really warm and intimate, the cocktails were amazing, but... ...the food! Oh my good lord! We go to a lot of restaurants, all over the country, and we both agreed this was the best we've been to in ages! The food was out of this world! We sat outside, and it was just a lovely evening. Shame we didn't catch the waitress's name, but she was brilliant. Top marks all round!

Burnt Orange was the highlight of our daytrip to Brighton, cosy atmosphere, beautiful garden, amazing staff and breathtakingly colourful dishes, every single one of them was a surprising but harmonious explosion of flavour. If you feel like something more than fish & chips (which is also great, of course), the best place to go in Brighton.

Excellent. Best meal I’ve had since moving to the UK a year ago. The flavors were fresh and so well balanced. The “experience” for 38 quid per person was actually filling. Highly recommend. The lamb cigars are a CANNOT MISS. Drinks were great, also some creative flavor mixes but with the old standbys as well. Service was top tier, warm without being overbearing, and very accommodating for my boyfriend and his allergies.

Thank you, we both had an amazing time last night. We were sat at the counter overlooking the kitchen, seeing all the amazing food that was being plated up, and just kept going "ooh, what's that, looks amazing, let's have that one... ooh, and that one...". Great service too. Relaxed but attentive. Informal but respectful. A hard balance to strike, but you did it effortlessly. Thank you so much. We'll be coming back for the hispi cabbage which we were too full to try this time around!

Will travel for this experience again. It has been 24 hours since we've had lunch here and I can not stop thinking about it. It exceeded all our expectations from atmos to service to the food. Let's talk about the food. It is by far the best lunch menu I've ever had. Every bite was an experience. The flavours and textures out of this world. I'm ecstatic still and wish I was back there now. Our server was Will who was lovely and attentive but everyone we interacted with was of the same cloth. Can not recommend this restaurant highly enough, and I can't wait to come back to try the dinner menu soon. Oh I almost forgot to mention we had a cocktail, a beer, a bottle of wine and the set menu and paid £167, absolutely insane value for money.

The perfect place for a pint on a Saturday afternoon - we wanted a quieter place with no TV blaring, and, although busy, it was not noisy. Great beer. Really nice set up. If I lived nearer I’d visit a whole lot more.

Excellently roasted and prepared coffee from owners who truly care, both about their customers and the process. I visited three times in the 6 days I was in town, no doubt the best place that I found. The sandwiches are amazing too. Immediately noticed the high volume of regulars, and it's no surprise because they are so kind and welcoming to everyone who enters. I come from an area with a lot of great enthusiast coffee shops. This place will stand up to -or exceed- anywhere you've been, these other reviews do not lie.

These are the best donuts I've ever tasted, they're always so fresh and you can't go wrong with Biscoff. Very cheap too for Brighton! The atmosphere is very chill and laid back. Would recommend this place to anyone looking to have a treat :)
