Burnt Orange in Brighton and Hove

I got the taster/experience menu and it was amazing! So many delicious flavours and it was really nice to try lots of options. I would definitely recommend. The staff were also very friendly and nice mocktails too.

My husband and I had lunch at Burnt Orange last Saturday. Having read good reviews of the restaurant we were looking forward to it. The food, cocktails and wine were all great. What made the experience even better was the atmosphere and the attitude of the staff. Every single staff member was so lovely, warm and welcoming. Easily the best dining experience we had during our weekend away in Brighton. Also very dog friendly on the terrace.

The concept of burnt orange is utterly exquisite, the wood burned theme running throughout the course of the menu is one for the books. The staff are professional yet warm and friendly, attentive but never overbearing. Not to mention the gorgeous interior. I’ve visited a handful of times now and have never had a bad experience, truly one of the best restaurants in the country!

My partner and I had dinner at the Burnt Orange last Saturday. Having read good reviews of the restaurant we were looking forward to it. We were not let down and it went above what we were expecting. The food was incredible as were the cocktails. What made the evening even better was the atmosphere and the attitude of the staff which were both first class. Easily the best dining experience that we have had on a long long time. I could not recommend the Burnt Orange enough. Fantastic. Look forward to visiting again in the future

I dined as a group of 4 on a Sunday evening on the day of the Brighton Marathon. We all had a superb evening. We opted for the Experience Menu and the food was delicious with flatbreads to die for. Impeccable service from the entire team made us feel like welcome guests. Decent value and a lovely, bustling atmosphere. We look forward to our next visit.

We had an amazing time for our anniversary! The food was delicious, the drinks were incredibly tasty and the service was wonderful. Rusaith and Bron treated us fantastically well and really made our experience a great one! Thank you everyone at Burnt Orange.

This food was excellent - delicious in every way. The Burnt Orange experience was great value for money - in the way we got to sample so much. I was in love with every dish that came out for the starters with a special mention for the flatbread (delicious) and the lamb cigar. The only thing I didn't like were my two drinks - gin and tonic was too bitter and the raspberry sorbet was not to my liking. But everything else was out of this world. Service friendly and attentive. One of our best date nights!

We had the set menu and a bottle of the chemin blanc. The choice was perfectly balanced and full of flavour.

Well what a treat this was, the food was divine, cosy atmosphere and the staff knew each dish and happily discussed them with us. All in all a most spectacular dining experience. Oh and the Panne Cotta well I will leave that for you to try.

From the moment the phone was answered to the moment we left we felt that the team went above and beyond. They were patient and incredibly understanding when we advised one of us had an allergy to chilli, they spent time coming up with a suggested menu and recommending the dishes that would work best. The food was incredible and the wine beautiful. The quality, friendliness and overall ambiance was perfect and we left feeling like we’d had a real treat. Thank you.

Really delicious food, the sharing/tasting menu is very reasonably priced and you get to taste a bit of everything. We had the vegetarian option and it was so tasty. Staff were all really welcoming, friendly, and knowledgable about both the food and the drinks. Cant wait to come back!

Food was really delicious, really fresh and great varied dishes. Plenty of choices if you are vegetarian too. Stand outs were the halibut, pumpkin and the flatbread. Service was lovely our waitress was really nice and our glasses were topped up. Definitely recommend and will be back again.

Went here for my birthday. The tasting menu is, well tasty!

I treated my daughter to a birthday lunch. We had a tasting menu, which was good value for £37 per person. Our highlights were the miso aubergine and potatoes, which were so goo, we asked to take our leftovers home. Great service too.

First time in that place and for sure I,ll be back there again! Every dish was delicious, but my favourite dish was a sea bream. Customer service was amazing, all staff working there was really kind and helpful. Perfect place for date! Definitely recommend!

If you wonder whether to go or not, stop. Stop right there. Just go! We are both chefs and not fussy at all but we love good food and definitely scrutinise it when we go out. This was insane, absolutely every dish was delicious. This was our first time going out after having had our baby 10months ago and what a perfect place to do that. Service was perfect too, friendly, ufun but not cheesy or over the top. Ellie was brilliant and she made our evening even nicer than it already was BIG THANK YOU GUYS

If you haven't been to the Burnt Orange... go! I took my daughter their for lunch on her 21st. We indulge the set menu for 2 at £37.50 pp. Dish after dish kept coming. Each very different. Each extremely tasty. All served by very attentive and friendly staff. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails too. There was great but the food is the main star. I am not affiliated in anyway with the Burnt Orange. I am just a very happy and content customer who is now looking for an excuse to go back again! Very happy to reccomend the Burnt Orange. Great restaurant!

I absolutely love dining at Burnt Orange, always such a warm welcome, the service is outstanding the staff are very attentive and have amazing food and drink knowledge. We went for the experience menu, it did not disappoint, the flavour's are out of this world. Will definitely be back again soon.

Just a quick note to say that our lunch yesterday was just amazing! Fantastic flavours,  very interesting combinations and all beautifully cooked and wonderfully presented. Cocktails were fabulous and the wine list was great and reasonably priced too. All in all it was a total joy, and we'll definitely be recommending you to friends/family and returning soon ourselves. Also want to mention our waiter, didn't catch his name I'm afraid but he was just brilliant - very friendly & efficient, explained all the dishes well,  answered all our questions and didn't rush us! He definitely helped to make my birthday lunch extra special 😊

This was our first time at Burnt Orange. Really warm welcome and atmosphere excellent, popular and buzzy. Service was good and the food very interesting and flavourful. We had the experience menu comprising a meze/tapas style small plates to share. This was balanced and complimented each other really well. The dishes used spices from eastern Mediterranean, middle eastern, Persian to give you an idea. Vegetarian experience was also available. My only issue was the cost. For 4 people with a bottle of wine, a beer and two extra dishes for a non-fish eater, including service charge, came to the best part of £270. One of the extra dishes was lamb chops, this comprised two chops, one of which was fatty and gristly, with a small pile of feta and a sauce, £24. Note we skipped desert and coffee at this price That said we did enjoy our meal and Burnt Orange is worth a try.

Found this excellent restaurant by chance. It was absolutely amazing. The experience menu was delicious and very well served.

Great food and cocktails, lively atmosphere and friendly staff. Particularly enjoyed the Crispy Okra, The lamb, chicken thighs and purple broccoli. Had a lovely cherry sorbet cocktail after which I would certainly order again.

Burnt Orange has been on our list for some time & we had a great meal. It’s a very attractive venue, vibrant & buzzy. The place has soul & the open kitchen injects further life into things. The greeting was warm & service attentive. The menu is creative & made for sharing. We opted for the £35pp non-veggie tasting menu (which cuts out all the work of deciding which plates to choose) & the dishes were varied & for the most part flavoursome. A good all round experience, would recommend.

A very good concept with several small dishes. Kind of tapas but different. We had the set meny and it was excellent with one exception, The calamaris were dry and boring but everything else was great. In addition we found a good red wine on the wine list which made it even better

Was blown away by how good the food and service were. We had a last-minute trip to Brighton and this was recommended. We couldn't get a table on Sunday night (which we thought was a good sign!), so we booked for Monday night. The place was busy, great ambience, and the service was excellent. We didn't opt for the set menu, we just made our own from the a la carte as there were a few things we were desperate to try from it. Flatbread, grilled prawns, and Barbury duck were my favourites of the 10 dishes we tried - but they were all superb. Our table was right by the open-plan kitchen/bar and was cool to see service behind the scenes. Great job, everyone!

Where to start… really friendly welcome and lovely staff set the scene. The food was beautiful and with great flavour, and the kitchen and front of house team accommodated various allergies and food conditions with ease. Everyone was so lovely and helpful. This is one of those places that you hope will really continue to thrive, knowing that you’ll probably have to book early to get in.

I visited Burnt Orange today with my husband and we were both very impressed with our experience. The depth of flavor in every dish was remarkable, and we felt it was excellent value for money considering the high standard of the meal. The wine selection was delightful, complementing our meal perfectly. Our server, Jasmine, was wonderful; attentive and knowledgeable, she guided us through the menu with great advice. Overall, a five-star dining experience that we can't wait to repeat!

Have been meaning to try Burnt Orange for a while and was lucky enough to finally try it for a birthday celebration. Lots of flavorful dishes. Standouts were the lamb chops and cauliflower. The only dish I didn’t like was the shirazi cucumber salad because it didn’t taste fresh at all. The cucumber was soggy when it should have been crunchy and fresh. Cocktails were good. We were unfortunately kicked off our table and moved to the bar because of the table time limit. Atmosphere, ambience and service were pleasant.

Poppy our server was excellent, both attentive and knowledgeable of the dishes being served. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed our birthday celebration.

The service is very attentive as you would expect but the most important part, the food was disappointing. I was surprised to feel this way as had heard good things about this restaurant but unfortunately I wouldn't share that opinion. The food was average and I wouldn't return. Cocktail selection was good and they were very nice. So the service and drinks are what really achieved the 3 stars given.

What a fantastic meal; this was my first time and I’ll definitely be back. We both did the meat tasting menu and the food was spectacular - well prepared, well presented, and plenty of it. The margarita was one of the best I’ve ever had. We sat at the counter, with a view of the kitchen, and wanted to try every dish that came out. The service was also impeccable - friendly, helpful, and very attentive. This is one of the best restaurants in Brighton, completely deserving of their Bib Gourmand awards!

My wife and I had a lovely meal at Burnt Orange for my Birthday. We both had the "Burnt Orange Experience" set menu, which was very reasonably priced for the amount and quality of food we got. Everything was delicious, from the flat bread to the Lamb Cigars. The smoked aubergine was a particular favourite of mine. The service was great; everyone was friendly and came across as genuine. We sat at the bar looking into the kitchen. It's always a treat to watch the chefs at work. The bar seating can feel a bit exposed, and is probably one of the louder seats in the house, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're hoping for a quiet, private dining experience. But if you don't mind the traffic around you, it's a great place to be. We definitely look forward to returning!

We had lunch today 26.2.2024. We ate at the counter. Very good unfussy service, just the right amount of attention. The food was absolutely superb. Mussels on toast, why not? Delicious, great with leeks. Sweet duck with caramelised plums, gorgeous. Pumpkin side was superb. I tasted my wife’s halibut and would have eaten it all, perfectly cooked. Wow. We will be back. A real treat. Thank you.

Visited for the second time last night and it was just as good as the first time and is now my favourite restaurant in Brighton. The service is as superb as the food which is just delicious, I don’t think there is a dish on the menu which we haven’t now tried and not one has disappointed. There is a lovely ambience too and every single member of the team we interacted with were friendly & polite, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend this little gem!

Lovely cocktails and great atmosphere

There are not enough words to describe the amazing lunch we have had the opportunity to enjoy today. The flavours of every mouthful exploded with sheer delight. The chef creates more than just food, it is done with pure love and passion. He or she creates something I have not experienced in a very long time. We sampled calamari never cooked or served in such a delicious way have we sampled before. We shared the beetroot humous with flat bread …. wow I want the recipe, so wonderful! For our main course we both had sea bass served on all I can describe is a sauce with Moroccan flavours/infusions… just enough spices not to take away the flavoursome fish or side dishes of skillet baked potatoes in another delicious sauce, and a side of Shiraz I salad, which contained pomegranate apple cucumber and other delicious fresh produce. All I can say is we can’t wait to return!

we went here new years eve, and unfortunately the food was more or less the standard set menu and wasn't that good, having had several good meals here it was disappointing. The main reason I choose to go here was for the DJ thinking we would have a dance in what is a chilled place, but the DJ was a disaster he didnt play dance music and seemed to like random film tracks - it was terrible. We made up for it back home with a good dance session. On top of this I got a message saying how sorry the manager was that our experience was under par and she would come back to me, but didn't. Has really put me off going back.

Excellent tasting menu and some very creative and inspiring dishes. Particularly loved the miso aubergine and the pumpkin was a surprise! Welcoming to children. We ordered some plain skillet potatoes for them and an undressed chicken thigh. They enjoyed it!

Everything about this place is perfection. It was a marvellous afternoon treat that will stay with us for ever. Amazing.

The tapas style dishes are consistently excellent - kudos to the kitchen team and chef 👏 Whenever I visit I prefer sitting outside and the garden area is intimate and relaxing, but inside is very nice too. Cocktails are excellent and I’ve tried quite a few. Highly recommended as one of Brighton’s best restaurants.

We ordered the vegetarian 'experience' for two, then added a few non-vegetarian small plates (duck, chicken, mussels and lamb cigars) to share (as there were three of us and we're not actually vegetarian). They have a dessert menu too. Will definitely go here again!

Came here to celebrate my Dad's graduation with family, we ordered off both the tasting menus + a couple of extra bits. The food was amazing and enjoyed equally by all guests, great to be able to enjoy so many different plates. Will definitely be returning to try more dishes off the full menu and some cocktails !

A group of four. Two celebrating an occasion. We were given complimentary prosecco which was appreciated. We were seated at a table at the top of the stairs to the toilets, there was constant "traffic" customers and staff going past. So close to the next table every word could be heard. We ordered the set Experience menu £74 per couple It is exactly that, an experience with you left wanting more. Some of the dishes were presented for the 4 of us to share rather than for each couple to share. The food is tasty but not enough for the price. We ordered dessert 2 x dulce du leche ice cream £4 2 x Bitter dark chocolate tart £8 Ice cream is just 1 blob and a sprinkling of rock salt The tart was so small they must get at least 16 slices from a full tart. We ordered 3 margaritas, 2 were ¾ measures, I asked for a small amount of ice in mine, that request was ignored with at least 6 cubes in a small glass. The different people who served us were very polite but if asked who was your server we wouldn't be able to give a definitive answer. Our bill, 2 experience menus shared between 4 3 Margarita 1 virgin Mohito 1 bottle of red (Barbera) 2 blobs of ice cream 2 slivers of tart Service £277 = £69.25pp In Summary, the food is good but not enough (if you order the "experience" menu) Would I go back no Would I recommend it probably not.

We had an absolutely sublime meal here. My mum and I visited for lunch as part of birthday celebrations and we couldn't fault the exquisite food, the delicious cocktails or the genuine service. We had my 8 month old and his pram with us which I worried about prior to our arrival, but the team could not have been more accommodating of us all (pram included!) As advised by our waiter, between the 2 of us we ordered 7-8 dishes, and they were all faultless. However I think the aubergine and roasted cauliflower from our winter menu just pipped the others and would highly recommend!! X

This was a fantastic find bustling restaurant with some of the best food I’ve had. The mussels on toast was to die for but you are spoilt for choice. The halibut was also immense.

Stunning dinner. Everything we tried was incredibly flavoured and perfectly cooked. The cabbage was so good I'm still thinking about it a week later.

Is there a better restaurant outside London ? If there is I would like to go there . Just food heaven. Full stop .
