Delicious food excellent menu. Polite friendly staff highly recommend.

Popped in for a coffee and cake. Was not disappointed, excellent good sized carrot cake and hot cappuccino (so many places tend to serve lukewarm ones)

Finally got to dad’s name sake place had spicy chicken panini and yes it’s spicy 🌶️ heat on the lips the wife had eggs Benedict best ones she has had in Plymouth definitely coming back sooner that later

Best coffee in Plymouth in my opinion. Breakfast always delicious with generous portions & friendly staff. Dad comes here every week he loves it so much! I have the vegan brunch & oat milk flat white 😍

Came here the other day, service was absolutely lovely, very friendly staff. I enjoyed my food, it was a bit pricey. Some of my friends didn't enjoy their food. Definitely get a coffee, I thought they had fresh iced tea not it in a bottle. Overall it's a friendly and nice experience.

A lovely place to visit for breakfast today after a recommendation from the place where we were staying nearby. Great service, friendly and very obliging staff and a lovely choice of food (many items can be made gluten free). We had pancakes with fruit and maple syrup, which my daughter really enjoyed, omelette and scrambled eggs on toast. Superb breakfast experience and would highly recommend.

Such a lovely place! Fresh food, lovely staff and great coffee and service. It was just what we needed on a busy Saturday. Myself and my Mum both had steak and stilton baguettes, and I can honestly say it's probably the nicest food I've had for a long time. Great views also with a window seat. Highly recommend.

Honestly, word cannot describe to you how amazing monty's is. Food is great and the staff are so kind. It truly is amazing, if i could it would have 3 michelin aswell, the food is amazing and very good quality.

We used this lovely little cafe twice during our weekend stay in Plymouth. It's' excellent, and I would highly recommend it.

Popped in while passing for brunch. Staff were amazing at finding us a table and also accommodating dietary requests and were flexible with substituting items for breakfast. Highly recommend the venue for staff service and food quality. My only tiny improvement would be to ask how would like eggs cooked mine were hard when would have rathered runny.

We visited for the first time for breakfast and were blown away with the friendly staff and cared breakfast menu. We both had the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and were pleasantly surprised - the pancakes are made on site and the bacon is the best we’ve tasted, being produced locally. We will definitely be back again!

Freshly cooked breakfast, with a very good traditional breakfast and an excellent eggs benedict of many varieties (and cooked to perfection). Also, the place for a cream tea (remember, jam on top). The prices are very good and reasonable, but the service and atmosphere are excellent! I have dined here a number of times, so my ticking "breakfast" below is only partly true!

Before writing this l have run it by friends and they agree with my feelings, just to ensure it's not me overreacting. The food delicious, no complaints at all there. BUT today l treated friends who'd not visited before and we had a dog with us. Lady came to take order quietly asking 'would your dog like a sausage?' Sausage arrived already sliced up, lined up slices and well, tiniest sausage l've ever seen, more chipolata! Not a problem, UNTIL our bill arrived only to find £1.50 added for this. Now, my disquiet isn't about the £1.50, l'd have tipped more than that, but it's the sneakiness. l spoke quietly to the lady at the till and was met with 'Oh, did you think it was a complimentary sausage?!' Well yes l did actually, l had dog treats in my bag, but this was something they actually offered, not something l asked for. No mention of charging, nothing on the chalk wall or menu about 'small sausage for your dog £1.50!' It's the principle! My friends aren't best impressed a dog friendly cafe, l expect 20 to 30 dogs per day easily, all being offered the same not knowing it'd be added to their bill, l suspect most don't even check, that's a lot of £1.50s adding up!! It definitely left us somewhat cross. Again, not the cost but the lack of transparency. The response insinuating l was wrong for assuming it was a complimentary dog treat just sealed it for me. Thankfully lots of dog friendly cafes that are more transparent and so a group here that won't return.

Hyggeligt sted, god betjening. Vi fik fish and chips og en salat og maden var meget velsmagende. Rimelige priser og et dejligt sted at være og ved det skønne område omkring havnen.

I have just had the most delicious breakfast here. The staff are friendly, the service is excellent and the food was delicious and an absolute bargain! I definitely recommend!

What an amazing little place. We’ve had the best experience with service two mornings in a row. Our waitress was so friendly and personal, remembered us from the day before. The food was fantastic, huge portions!! Definitely coming back!!! Loved it.

Went here for breakfast the days we stayed nearby. Staff were very friendly and the portons are a good size.

If you are staying at a hotel in Central Plymouth don't book breakfast, go to Monty's instead. Their breakfasts are excellent, they serve good quality food, I particularly recommend their bacon and sausages.

Lovely, friendly place with amazing food

Poor disregard for allergies and then incredibly rude and abrasive staff. Will not be back again. In Plymouth the price of goods is more important than the quality of the service/goods. Take all the positives with a pinch of salt.

I came in for a flat white and a hot chocolate. Both of these we're not very nice. My flat white was very watery and I actually left it which isn't normal for me. The hot chocolate was similar but not very strong tasting. We did have some cake which was nice and we didn't have any food hence the 4 stars as the service was good. I like a good coffee shop but sadly this is not it, I won't be coming back.

I went here with my family today for hot drinks and cake. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere was nice enough. We ordered a flat white, a hot chocolate and a slice of cake. The cake was nice but the coffee tasted watery and was topped with foam (like a cappuccino), the hot chocolate was also watery/milky, and the milk tasted scorched. If the staff had some barista training I would happily return but unfortunately we couldn't finish our drinks as they were really not nice, which is a real shame.

The chef’s breakfast - available all day - is superbly cooked, a generous portion and highly recommended!

Bagels with cheddar and bacon 🥓 and poached eggs 🥚 were lovely, cooked to perfection. Ham, cheese and mushroom omelette was tasty and plenty of it. Staff all friendly and welcoming. Always great food.

Very tasty freshly cooked food. Delighted to find a low carb breakfast option (omelette) which was delicious. The staff were very friendly. Will be going again, especially when family visit with dogs.

We went for a family brunch, and even the dog was given a bowl of water and a small bowl of cut-up sausages, with the owners approval of course. I found the cafe to be extremely friendly, with a comfortable atmosphere, and good, well cooked food. My Eggs Royal was excellent. There are also vegetarian options. I will certainly go there again.

Second visit over the past year, both very enjoyable. Great prices for a top location cafe close to the harbour, but more importantly the quality of the meals is excellent too, despite the fairly limited (and down to earth) menu. All the stars well deserved.

Good food, good service & good value. We went for breakfast which is severed all day 7 days a week but there were lots of other things on the menu that were tempting not to mention great looking cakes which I definitely want to go back and try.

Visited for lunch & whilst it took a while for my order to be taken the food arrived quickly &chasing the biggest & best bubble & squeak I've had in years served with 2 lovely fried eggs & perfectly cooked bacon all washed down with a mug of breakfast tea. Really good value for money aswell. The staff are very polite & friendly to. I would advise booking a table as it was very busy with locals & tourists and a wait of 15 minutes for tables when I was ready to leave. Thanks for a nice meal, your menu is lovely with a huge choice.

Whilst it would seem breakfast stops at 11.30 on the Barbican , not the case at Montys ! A wonderful selection from the menu of food and hot drinks , service was good , standard of food excellent and overall very reasonable as well. Hope to be back again soon thanks .

My wife and myself had a long weekend in Plymouth, staying very close to the Barbican. We noticed Montys the first day but decided it looked small and very busy so didn't bother The second day we decided to give it a go. and queued for about 10 minutes before being shown to a table. (Whilst waiting I noticed quite a few "reserved" table boards, marked up and ready for use.). Ordered full English x2, with tea. The portion size was spot on but the quality and presentation was exceptional and very reasonable priced (Only about £1,50pp MORE than what I would have paid at the "budget hotel" on the Quay I asked, "is it worth booking for breakfast" which we did. I know this is a personal opinion, however if our 3 visits are the standard then I think you will be pushed to find better.

You won't find better Reccomend by our air bnb hosts Fab food Large portions Gluten free vegan veggies catered for.. only down side was tgeccoffee was heftily strong but that's just me! 10/10

Absolutely first rate, friendly attentive staff, excellent choice of food, great atmosphere and wonderful coffee. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were extremely hardworking and all five different choices of food were very well received.

This place has the perfect breakfast menu, something for everyone. I can recommend the Chef’s Breakfast, which was a tasty take on the traditional cooked breakfast.

Despite a few negative experiences here, I think this place is fab! The food was good (all day breakfast) & the servers were friendly & efficient. Considering that so many places are overpriced now, I think that Monty's is excellent value for money. I'll certainly be back.

Food is so average, bacon so undercooked all frozen stuff you can do better at home. Chips also average. Chef needs to cook the bacon a couple minutes longer

Ordered soup of the day. This was a tastless green puree which eventually arrived in a large shallow plate and was stone cold. Came with two pieces of toasted granary bread, also cold, and butter. Send it back to be reheated which the waitress did willingly enough. Service slow. Cannot recommend. Plenty of better places in the area

This is one of the best cafes I have ever been to. Friendly staff, great food all at a good price. Very well organised and very little waiting. Much more than your average cafe. Will be back again.

We had 3 breakfasts (full English, bubble & squeak, eggy bread bacon sandwich) and they were excellent. Great produce well cooked. The service was friendly and efficient. The only opportunity we saw for improvement was the toilet facilities which could do with a fresh. Still excellent and value for money. Well done to all involved.

So pleased we stumbled upon this great cafe. We never eat breakfast in hotels and this gem proves the point. Eggs bread bacon sarnie was delicious & and the full English with perfect poached eggs, decent thick bacon and good quality sausages was such good value. If it is busy and no tables are available just chill out and book one. It's worth the wait.
