What a welcome from the comprising Gaye, Chris and Jo. Super breakfast at the King’s Head Hotel and as I walk out onto Masham square, after my sumptuous breakfast, I feel ready to face the day. Yorkshire people do make me smile and I am thoroughly bowled over with their welcome. Thank you so very much. Adrian

We had Sunday lunch today and it was delicious, very tasty, the staff and environment are 1st class. I had beef and my husband had lamb, they also do vegetarian. I have been several times and it’s never let us down. Masham is a lovely place to visit and the station cake is the icing on the cake 👍 recommend 100%

Always a good stop. New owners have an excellent menu, beautifully prepared food including the infamous home made chips & local pies etc. our waitress was friendly & efficient. A lovely lunch, we will be back. Tina, Michael & Millie the Schnauzer

Fabulous cafe with friendly staff, a lovely atmosphere and really tasty food. Lots of options, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Everything is made fresh and it really shows in the taste. Dog friendly as well, which is always a bonus. Will come back for sure!

This would have been a 5 star review if I was reviewing the food only. The food was top notch. The negatives were: One of the staff who served us was miserable and quite unpleasant in her manner. The second negative was unforgivable! They do not serve tea in a pot! It comes in a cup with a tea bag floating in it attached to a piece of string. Thats the sort of thing you get in 'cafes' or roadside caravans or take aways from the local chippy - not a place like the Staveley Arms. I asked for a pot of tea and that is what was brought to me, the lady told me 'oh we don't serve tea in pots' and plonked it down. I refused it. Later I asked for a latte which was cold! Diners like to drink tea at their leisure and not having to drink it quickly to prevent it getting cold or from a saucer that is dripping tea from the tea bag! You really need to rethink how you serve tea!

We visited as a family of six and we managed to reserve a table prior to arriving. We were greeted warmly by a really lovely lady, I think she was the owner. The decor is lovely, bright and a lot of thought has gone into it. The Tearoom is spotlessly clean and the other staff members were very warm , welcoming and well trained. The food was delicious and all very fresh, served with lovely salad. We couldn't fault anything, and our standards are very high. Really lovey experience and we know where to go when we next visit Ripon. Thank you so much x

Wow!! What a wonderful surprise! We 4 friends were about to end our brief visit to Pateley Bridge on a blustery, wet December afternoon when we stumbled across Cocoa Joe’s. Within minutes we had been captivated and educated by the colossus that is Steven. I described his Vietnamese Chocolate Moccha as life-changing and I was only exaggerating a tiny bit! We all loved our drinks and the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that affected everyone. With a total of 8 customers the place was comfortably full but Steve said we should see it when there are 25!! A magical place and one of the highlights of our holiday; we WILL be back!! If you’re ever anywhere near, be sure to visit!!

I’m so glad that there was a free table at this busy cafe. The staff were really welcoming and helped me choose a treat, we had a chat about the interesting and exciting range of cakes and I had a browse through the Thirteen cookbook that is on sale here whilst enjoying my coffee. This cafe is everything an independent should be - welcoming, lively and inspiring. It’s really hard to choose a cake when you get to the counter (they all looked delicious) but I was really impressed with the gorgeous ginger slice - delicious and really suited to a cold winter day in Knaresborough. The coffee was also excellent. This is a busy cafe, so not really suitable for sitting with a laptop or having a long meeting, it’s more suited to a catch up with friends for a treat. Don’t walk past - if you see a free seat go inside!

This little gem was booked almost blindly. We needed accommodation close to the nearby Swinton Hall Estate for family wedding. We had no idea what it was going to be like, nor how expensive the food was likely to be. Well, what a find! We arrived to be greeted by the very friendly landlord, Chris, and his wife. The accommodation is comfortable and clean with all the usual expected bits readily to hand. Downstairs in the bar you're treated to a friendly atmosphere, warm and cosy with a wide choice of very reasonably priced meals available to eat in the deceptively spacious dining room. The food arrived and it was fantastic! Big, hot plates, literally loaded with huge portions of good homemade food. I had steak and ale pie, chips and peas which, like everything else on the menu, was priced at £5! (Back home in Oxfordshire I'd have expected go pay upwards of £12 for the same meal). The following morning we all enjoyed a big cooked breakfast with loads of toast, tea and coffee. The landlord couldn't have been more helpful. My sister is gluten intolerant and Chris made sure she was catered for both at the evening meal and at breakfast.Absolutely fantastic! We'll definitely be back when we're next up that way.

Really lovely place, very relaxed atmosphere. We bought pumpkins and carved them there then went for a little walk round the woodland trail. Nice little cafe - the pumpkin pie was a big hit - and the shop sells lots of nice little gifts etc. The plants in the garden centre looked great, although we didn’t buy any so can’t really comment further. Would definitely go back again - it’s a great community resource too.

We are a group three couples who stumbled across this lovely cafe whilst walking the Hartwith Round. The coffee and all the cakes were absolutely delicious served by a very welcoming and friendly face. It is in an idyllic location and I would do the walk again just to enjoy this little cafe. A little gem of a place which puts some warmth into your heart.

Couldn’t fault it. All the work is done by the proprietor so be prepared for a small wait. It’s not a fast food restaurant. Breakfast comes clean and not all the ingredients piled up on top of each other. Beans and tomatoes served in a side dish. Buy local and support local is the motto here.

Lovely weekend activity. With homely decor and incredible host(s) - thank you Caroline. Extremely well behaved and adorable dogs, complete with delicious baked goods and beverages.
